Trouble with iWeb

I'm having trouble uploading changes to look the same as what I created on the original document. Never had this problem before with iWeb. The fonts sizes and colors are all messed up now on the uploaded version and a block of color appears where it's supposed to be a white background and the block that is supposed to be color is white, etc. I've tried and tried to correct these errors but nothing works. I don't want to have to do this site all over from scratch again. Can someone help me on this? Thanks!

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? Where are you hosting your site?  Have you tried publishing your site to a folder on your hard drive and opening it locally to see how the fonts look?  That will tell you if it's an iWeb issue or an uploading or server issue.
If you find it's an iWeb issue try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
Click to view full size
     3. launch iWeb and republish again.

  • Browser troubles with iWeb 1.1.2

    I've been developing a website with iWeb 1.1.2 for a client. I'm using hostmonster.com to host my domain because I don't have a mobile Me account. Because of this, I'm using FTP to publish my website to hostmonster. I've published it and uploaded all of the files to the FTP file manager. Now when I visit the actual website using safari or firefox, none of the links from the homepage work. I checked the source code, and I can't figure out anything that could be wrong. But when I visit it using Internet Explorer, the entire website works. So is there any way I can fix this so that it works with all browsers (or at least all of those three)?
    here's the address in case anyone can find anything wrong with the code:
    www.maryboucher.com

    Intermittent sounds like Hardware, but try trashing the "/Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist" for a start.

  • Trouble with iweb SEO tool publishing to FTP address

    Trying to publish using SEO tool to my FTP address and nothing happens in the status bar. I selected the folder to upload and choose the right server folder but no go. Any suggestions. Do I need to go on my host and clear out the publishing folder first? Also, do people recommend iWeb SEO tool over iMAP? I know SEO is free so I am trying that first. I use I tweak to add in google analytics so not sure how that works with SEO tool? Do I need to run iTweak and then iWeb SEO then publish? Thanks again.

    I just tested it with a section of a website and it uploaded fine. Its going to depend on the size of your site files.
    Are you using the latest V 1.3?
    It's the first time I've tested the built in FTP as I usually add the meta stuff and then optimize before uploading. It doesn't seem to take any longer than the other FTP applications I use.

  • Trouble with Iweb SEO

    So I am finally catching up to the 21st century by getting into Google analytics and Stat tracker.
    I downloaded Iweb SEO tool from rage and did about 2 hours of work filling in all the correct titles, meta data, etc...
    I published (from Iweb SEO) to the mobile me account.
    Went to look at the source code of my site and none of the info is there.
    Closed Iweb SEO, reopened and all the information is still in Iweb SEO.
    I repeated the publishing process from Iweb SEO and waited a few hours.
    Rechecked source from website and still info is not there.
    I am now republishing my entire site from Iweb (which will take all night).
    Will this work? Am I missing anything?

    How are you accessing the published files after applying the tags with SEO? If you're using your browser and its View Code option clear your browser's cache as JRIH suggested. If you're accessing the files directly on the iDisk and using a text editor make sure you're not using the locale iDisk copy on your hard drive if you have iDisk Sync enabled in the System/MobileMe/iDisk preferences.

  • Trouble with iWeb and Snow Leopard?

    I have a iMac (early 2007) Dual Core Intel Based, and have been using iWeb for a couple of years just fine.
    Recently (a few months ago) I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and since then my computer freezes etc...
    I've been getting the dreaded Grey Screen with the Apple Logo and churning gear at startup and the computer won't get passed that point.
    I've tried booting from my Snow Leopard Disk and have run Disk Utility and Repair, and I have no errors.
    What's odd is that if I try to open iWeb now and start using it for more then a couple of minutes the computer gets the dreaded spinning rainbow and freezes up, forcing me to shut down often.
    Now, I am only able to start my computer early in the morning after it has been turned off at night.
    Any Reccomendations?
    Thanks in Advance...
    BJB

    Assuming the actual install of Snow Leopard is OK, you could run Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) to see if there is any unusual activity when your Mac is idling.
    If so, you can launch Console.app to see if you can see what it is that's causing it.
    I had that problem on an old iMac last night where iWeb was sluggish and the ball was spinning.
    It turned out that CrashReporter was hogging the CPU by continuously creating reports for an unidentified app, hidden in the System files, that was trying to launch. After tracking down and extermination it, all became peaceful again.

    No problem with Macs. Any idea why that is and how it can be fixed?

    I have just loaded it, the first time it didn't do anything, maybe I was a little impatient, the second time I clicked it the slideshow loaded.
    Try clearing your cache in Safari, go to Safari > Empty Cache.. then reload the page and try again.
    You could also put a ? at the end of the url in the address bar and then refresh the page.
    Sometimes you need to do both!

  • Trouble with iWeb code snippet for drop down menu

    Hello,
    So, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring this out and it goes beyond my knowledge, to be honest. I'm working on a website for someone and when viewed in Safari for Mac or iPad or even iPhone, it all works out great. But, when viewed in any other browser for Mac or Windows, the drop down doesn't display the "menu heading," only what should be the first drop down selection. Not only that, that page now becomes "unselectable" and more or less dead.
    Here is what it should read, and does on Safari:
    Rates and Hours
    FAQ - Yoga
    FAQ - Reiki
    FAQ - Massage
    On all other browsers, it displays the FAQ - Yoga option as the "title" and only displays the other two options. So, is this something that can be fixed in the code snippet or is what I'm seeing a more involved HTML issue that would require actual skills to fix? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated because I'd love to get this knocked out and also pick something up in addition. If I have to edit the actual HTML pages themselves I could do that as well; I've got an editor and have done that for my own site when needed. Anyway, thank you very much in advance!

    No, it shouldn't and it doesn't. It should look like :
    Rates, Hours, Reservations
    Rates and Hours
    FAQ - Yoga
    FAQ - Reiki
    FAQ - Massage
    FAQ and Reserve - Training
    Here's the correct part :

              <option value="http://yogareikimassage.com/MG/FAQ_-_Personal_Training.html*_top">FAQ and Reserve - Training</option>
    </select>
    The <select> item was missing. And if you don't want the first line in the menu (Rates, Hours, Reservations) then don't enter it in the first place.
    BTW, it's not a dropdown menu. It's a selection list in a form.

  • Internet Explorer 7 - Trouble loading iWeb 08 Pages

    Is anyone else having trouble with iWeb 08 pages not loading properly when viewed in Internet Explorer 7?
    Everything loads fine on a Mac (Firefox 2.0) and even on a PC using Firefox but when viewing the site from IE7 it seems like pages containing photos (ie photo pages and blog entries) are having trouble loading completely. The images never appear or some images appear or some thumbnails fail to appear in the new photo gallery page.
    Solutions? Work arounds? Or is this just a bug that needs to be repaired in an upgrade?
    I love the Mac but the new iWeb and iPhoto seem a little glitchy out of the box.

    mtd,
    I tested your site on my PC with IE 7. No problems. In fact I tested load times for both Safari (Mac) and IE (PC) and they were almost identical. I compared screens side by side and they looked the same. Some of you may not have updated versions of IE. Additionally the IE browser settings can be a bit tricky. You know, it's MS so troubleshooting is a given! One suggestion is to delete all the cookies currently running in IE 7 and give it another viewing.
    I have noticed that some themes slow down both browsers. It's a matter of complexity of the theme.

  • Having trouble with html snippets and movies in iweb 09

    Hi I have built a site iweb2.0.4 and recently moved it onto my new machine with iweb 09 on. Basically I have been putting in videos that I have exported for web out of Quicktime. In the past I have simply added an html snippet code like this in <iframe src="http://evileducation.org/stammuraifinalcomp/ReadMe.html" style="width: 340px; height: 285px"; scrolling="no" controller="true" frameborder="0"></iframe>
    I edit the ReadMe.html based on a tutorial I saw and it loads the movie after pressing the "Click to play" button. Now in 09 when I put the code in to the snippet it just shows a Quicktime symbol with a question mark. if you check the link below you can see the videos with the best I have managed to do so far which is get the new movies on but they both autoplay (I have linked in this instance to the 4kb .mov in each folder rather than the readme.html.). I don't want to just drag a video in I would like the options to view on phone or on computer etc and not for them to autoplay. Is there a new/ different way to do this now. Surely it shouldn't be this hard to get the export for web in Quicktime and iWeb to work together? The frustrating thing is if you check the link below the old movies work fine still it's just the 2 new ones. Soz for the long one!

  • Margin trouble with a Flash object in Dreamweaver.

    Hi everyone,
    I am having trouble with the top and bottom margins of a banner created in Flash and then inserted into Dreamweaver. I thought I had done the proper zero margin adjustments, I usually use IE8 and everything looked fine.
    However, when viewing the page with IE in some (not all) other computers a red (background color) line appears accross the white frame at the top and another one interrupting the shadow at the bottom of the banner. Not sure whether the difference was the IE version or a question of settings.
    Any ideas as to what may be causing this problem and how I to solve it?
    Also, in Safari and Chrome everything looks good, but with Firefox (version 3.5.1) for some reason the white bottom margin within the banner's frame is bigger than the top. Not as big a deal as the first problem, but I guess they are probably related.
    Here is the link to the page in question: http://www.migtraducciones.com.ar/who_we_are.html
    Thanks in advance for any helpful hints.
    Regards,
    Eduardo.

    Thanks for your answer.
    I mean that I can't find the folder to authorize. I will be more clear: this is the dialog box (it's in italian, but you all know what is about).
    How can I tell Flash Player to authorize the iWeb widget folder if I can't find it in my Mac?
    I'm under Mac, OS X 10.6.7.

  • Problems with iweb and Internet Explorer

    I'm having trouble with my iweb website - PC users using Internet Explorer can access my site home-page but find the navigation bar is blocked - covered by a green rectangle which does not allow the links to be explored. With Safari and Firefox the website works properly. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Transparency (opacity in CSS) is one of those things that's used by those who know nothing about it or those who know a lot about and is best avoid by all the rest of us!
    To create a class "transparent" to cover all bets would require something like this...
    .transparent {
              /* Required for IE 5, 6, 7 */
              /* ...or something to trigger hasLayout, like zoom: 1; */
              width: 100%;
              /* Theoretically for IE 8 & 9 (more valid) */
              /* ...but not required as filter works too */
              /* should come BEFORE filter */
              -ms-filter:"progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=50)";
              /* This works in IE 8 & 9 too */
              /* ... but also 5, 6, 7 */
              filter: alpha(opacity=50);
              /* Older than Firefox 0.9 */
              -moz-opacity:0.5;
              /* Safari 1.x (pre WebKit!) */
              -khtml-opacity: 0.5;
              /* Modern!
              /* Firefox 0.9+, Safari 2?, Chrome any?
              /* Opera 9+, IE 9+ */
              opacity: 0.5;
    For modern browsers we can use this...
    .transparent {
              zoom: 1;
              filter: alpha(opacity=50);
              opacity: 0.5;
    But how do we know what our visitors are using?

  • 2 Homepages with Iweb ??

    Hi, I am really in trouble...I created 2 homepages with iweb. Homepage 1 is already online. Everything fine so far. The problem is the second homepage as it is apparently using the same index file as homepage number 1 - can this be? I do publish through Strato and not Mac. I export the homepage number 2 to a separate file. But homepage number 1 is always registered together with number 2. i cannot separate the 2 homepages.
    And if I open the folder of homepage number 2 and copy the index file on the same level as folder homepage 1 and hompeage 2 mac askes me whether I would like to replace the existing index file . This is the index file from homepage number 1. If I do this, it is not getting better. My homepage number 2 is not working...urgently need your help - thanks!!

    Yes, I understand perfectly that you are not using MobileMe to publish to, which is why I asked how many domain names you had.
    I know you said that you have separated the folders, but did you separate the domain files? If not you need to do this so that the sites can be published to a folder separately. To find the domain files, go to User/Library/Application Support/iWeb and then domain.sites file.
    Have you given both your sites different names within iWeb at the top? If not, you should do this, or publishing your sites might get confusing.
    When you publish to a folder from iWeb, what you get is a site folder that has the same name as your site within iWeb, plus a separate index.html file. You need to upload both of these. What I suggest you do is go to your second site within iWeb and publish this to a folder again and you should get the site folder and the index file published. Then upload to your server again and if you upload both, then it should work. You do need to place the items in the Public_html folder on your server for your site to be seen.
    If I were you, I would use a good ftp program such as Cyberduck to upload - it is totally free to download and easy to use.

  • Help! I'm having trouble with images on my web page.

    I'm trying to create a page with a bunch of my photos but I need the photos broken up into groups so I can discuss the different groups. So I simply cut and paste the photo area several times BUT now when I click on any picture in any group it only does a slideshow for the last group of photos.
    I guess I could simply break the single page into multiple pages but that is so inconvenient in iWeb since it doesn't let you cut and paste template pages! Apple needs to seriously fix this shortcoming. How can you not allow cutting and pasting of pages??
    Here's the page I'm having trouble with:

    You probably realise by now that you're attempting to do things with iWeb which it just wasn't intended to do. Cutting and pasting the photo grid area just won't work as you want it to. To work within iWeb's limitations might i suggest that you use the 'nesting' approach described in several posts here already. Use a single representative image on your main page for each of the situations you want to cover, and link each of these to an appropriate Photo page which has 'Include page in navigation menu' unchecked.
    You could add a link on each of the Photo pages which returns to your main descriptive page.
