Trouble with links that contain %2C (comma) in url

I have a friend that uploaded some files to a site for her students to click on and download. They're mp3 files of classical music, many of which contain commas in their filenames.
When uploading them, the site escapes these commas by replacing them with a "%2C". For example the file "john,paul,george,andringo.mp3" would appear as "john%2Cpaul%2Cgeorge%2Candringo.mp3".
It seems that by doing so, Safari is unable to parse the link properly and truncates the link after "john".
Has anyone else noticed this issue? Issue noticed on Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3).
I tried this on Camino and Firefox, and they are able to parse this link correctly, but not Safari.
(Clearly, the quick fix is to rename these files without commas, but I figure this is worth bringing up on this forum.)

It always pays to name any Web based files without using any punctuation.
FTP servers don't like them and browser based links don't always get "translated" properly.
Jane's New CD of Music.mp3 should be:
janesnew_cd_ofmusic.mp3
Avoid this common problem by using "Web safe" naming schemes. Avoid any illegal characters, punctuation or spaces between names.

I have an Iphone 5 and for some reason I can't send/receive group messages with groups that contain non Iphone users. Basically I recieve single text messages/imessage from each person who responds to the group message. This is incredibly annoying.

I am having trouble with songs that will not play completely through.

I am having trouble with songs that will not finish playback. The songs play about 75% of the way and then stop mid-song. This is true for my PC and songs transferred to my iPod. I have redownloaded (and repaid) for one song to see if that helps, which it did. But that can become expensive as I am starting to find an increasing amount of songs that are haaving this problem.

Take it to a genius bar. It's probably something with the magnets.

I'd like to continue using the Firefox/Google combination (nb: the hijack virus also affects IE but not Safari) - do you have a patch/fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

I'm having troubles with italics that come from nowhere

I am going to paste the code in--don't know if any of you will be willing to wade through it or not. Line 52 is Don't put hands inside of Container. That is supposed to be in italics, a different color. But everything after that appears in italics also. I have tried removing that code, but all I get is the loss of color. Everything past that point is still in italics. I will also paste in the temporary address where it can be viewed. Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, and the italics don't show up in the Dreamweaver in terface. Odd. Here is the code:

of Used Syringes

Even though you do not have to turn in used syringes in order to get new, free syringes from SANE, we advocate for and ask participants to return their used syringes to SANE so we may get rid of them safely1. SANE will provide you with official biohazard waste containers (also known as sharps2) to put your used syringes in and/or give you written instructions on how to make your own sharps container3. These instructions tell how to handle used syringes safely (so you don’t get stuck) as well as tell you what to do if you get stuck with a needle (called an accidental needle-stick injury4). If you want to get rid of your used syringes on your own, we will give you a list of places where you can get rid of your used syringes for free 5. Also, if you see syringes in public places, call us & we will come out and get them in a safe manner and 6 dispose of them safely. 
A few do’s & don’ts for safer handling of used syringes:

Needles and syringes in sharps containers are not considered paraphernalia. Section 11364 (b) of the California Health and Safety Code states that hypodermic needles or syringes stored in a container that “meets state and federal standards for disposal of sharps waste” shall not be classified as drug paraphernalia. 
California law permits authorized needle exchange programs and exempts program workers from paraphernalia charges. Needle exchange programs that distribute sterile syringes to injection drug users may be locally authorized pursuant to H&S Code 12134.9. California law exempts needle exchange personnel from prosecution for furnishing drug paraphernalia under H&S Code Section 11364.7. 
California permits over-the-counter sales of up to 10 syringes. Pursuant to local authorization of (Business & Professions Code 4145 (2)(c)), adults may obtain up to ten syringes from a pharmacy or physician without a prescription. 
California law permits possession of up to 10 syringes for personal use from an authorized source. H&S Code Section 11364 (c) applies if syringes are acquired from an authorized source, such as a pharmacy or syringe exchange program. 
Drug residue in a syringe is not sufficient evidence to prove drug possession. Police should be aware that pursuant to a CA Supreme Court ruling, an individual shall not be convicted of possession of a controlled substance based solely on drug residue in a used syringe.

Trouble With Links to Network Files Within Online PDF

I posted this at the end of someone else's thread who had a similar problem but it may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Either that or no one has an answer. Here goes...
I create a Word document that contains links to network files (tested and working) and convert the document to a PDF. The links still function in the PDF when I test them. However, when someone opens the document from our intranet, the file:/// is replaced with some form of a relative link, either to a users C: drive or to an http:// directory. If I then go into the PDF and change the link action from Open File to Open Web Link and provide the full file:/// path, everything works as intended. This really wouldnt be a big deal if I was the one maintaining the document or if it were an occasional thing. The problem is that updating or adding a link to the document means correcting the existing links all over again. This is very cumbersome for the user who maintains the document.
I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional. Any ideas?

I'm having a similiar issue with cross platform (Vista to Mac OS X 10.5) file linking. We currently store indesign files on a folder in a shared drive (the mac unix path to the drive is /Volumes/SharedDrive and the vista path is Z:\) and link assets in the document to another folder stored on the shared drive. Note that all linked assets are not stored in the same location on the shared drive, for instance a linked image could be deep in the folder structure (/Volumes/SharedDrive/Marketing/Images/Fall09/example.jpg).
The Vista computer references files differently than the mac on the shared drive, it seems to mount the network drive directly on the root level rather than in the /Volumes folder. I've tried to symlink the graphics folder (the one containing all the linked assets) to the root level of the hard drive (ln -s /Volumes/SharedDrive/Graphics /Graphics) but when we tried relinking the assets InDesign figured out it was a symlink and resolved the path to the absolute path. Is there some sort of configuration option in mac to mount this windows drive (it is on SBS Windows 2003) in a way that won't cause linking conflicts between mac and pc? Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Cfdirectory action=list not working with directories that contain an ampersand

Our IT group just upgraded one of the our file share servers from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 R2. We quickly noticed a problem with CFDIRECTORY listing the contents of directories that contain an ampersand (e.g. //192.168.1.10/Simon & Garfunkel/). We are using ColdFusion 10 Update11 on Windows Sever 2012 R2 and everything worked fine prior to this upgrade. In addition, we created the same directory locally and tried running CFDIRECTORY and the same problem occurred. The cfm page doesn't crash or report an exception in the log, it just doesn't return any results. Thanks in advance for help on this issue.

Thanks Adam, I just found the problem. I think it was a
problem in the database, though I'm not sure why it works on the
development and not on the production. The field that I pull the
"thename" value from is a type varchar(10) and when cfoutputted
like this [#thename#] it would result in [O MAN], however I tried
outputting it into a textbox field and it showed [O MAN ] (<---
actually "O MAN" followed by 5 spaces). The value was padded to ten
characters. I'm baffled. Varchar is supposed to be variable width
only using the number of actual characters without padding, right?
Of my own folly I was trimming the results of the #thename#
#codeno# pair and not thename itself. Once I set thename to
trim(thename) it worked, of course. I'm still very confused why
this works in the development environment and not in production,
and to why the padding to begin with. But, I will not borrow any
more trouble and just be happy it is resolved!

Thanks for your response. I did restore to new location, drive J, and chose "maintain folder structure". So, the catalog and a complete set of my photos was copied to the new external drive J. However, the catalog is still linked to the original set of my photos that are still on drive M. Any ideas?

Regex with strings that contain non-latin chars

I am having difficulty with a regex when testing for words that contain non-latin characters (specifcally Japanese, I haven't tested other scripts).

Previously I was using indexOf, which doesn't have this problem, but I can't use that since it doesn't match the whole word.
Is this a problem with my regex, is there a modifier I need to add to enable unicode support or something?

Trouble with songs that have no albums

Hey,
I have a new video ipod, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the feature where, when you click on an artist with only one album, it goes directly to the list of songs in that album, instead of the list of the albums. The issue is with artists where I have one full labeled album and another song or two not in the album with the Album field left blank. When I click on the artist, it goes directly to the list of songs on the one album I have, making it impossible to access the song that isn't in the album. You can only get to it by going to the list of all the songs on the ipod. Is there anyway to fix this, or disable the feature that goes directly to the album tracks when you only have one album for an artist? Thanks!

Project Manager: Dealing with FOLDERS that contain audio?

Hello everyone,
I just started using Project Manager, and I'm in the process of reorganizing files. Upon examination, I've found I dont like the current location of some folders that contain audio files and would like to move them. I know its possible to "cut & paste" audio files into new places, but the manual says nothing about folders of audio and how to move them. Is there a way to do this in PM?
Along the same lines, I dont like the names I have given to some folders and want to change them. Again, the manual shows how to change audio file names, but NOT folder names. I'm assuming folder names are just as important in searching databases correctly as file names, so is it possible to change these in PM?
The only solution I've found to both problems is to create new folders in the finder and cut/past the audio files in PM? Seems kind of ridiculous to have to use two "programs" (finder & PM) just to move/rename folders, thus I wanted to check here first and make sure I'm doing it right. Is there another way

Hmmmm... this is one of those cans-of-worms situations... The PM has a "move" function, but judging by the menu choices, no "rename" function.
If you went into an individual song and usde the "move audio file(s)" function in the audio window, you could create a new folder (with the name you want) when the file selector opens; then you've save (actually, move) the files into that new folder. Then, re-save your song/project.
The downside to doing this is that other songs (previous versions, backups, etc.) will not find those audio files any longer (because the folder that originally contained those files is now empty). So Logic will invoke the search engine/project manager to find them.
If the PM has been updated, this might not end up being a problem. But unless the names of those audio files have unique names, when you update PM, it will ask you which of the similarly-named files you want to choose to resolve the references for those other songs. It might mean that you spend a bit of time in front of the PM answering dialogs about it.
I think you have to try this out to see if it works well or not.

A PDF document with links to other PDFs corrupts the URL and get 404. Works in IE.

One of our supplier sites has manuals online that are PDF docs with links from one to another. For example, when I click on "Tanaka" I get a PDF menu of Tanaka service manuals, etc. When I click on a section, such as "Chainsaw" I get a 404. Part of the directory structure in the URL is missing. For example when in the Tanaka PDF menu I click on Chainsaw I go to http://www.parklands.net/Resources/Tana%20CSaw%20Menu.pdf which is wrong. It should be http://www.parklands.net/Resources/Tanaka/Tana%20CSaw%20Menu.pdf, and in IE it is.
