Troubles with programming a program with different multiple channels!

Dear LabView users,
i've been struggling with a program I need to write about the stress-strain curve and the E-modulus of a material tested with strain gauges, and LVDT's.
The thing is, I need to acquire data with the nDAQ-system from strain gauges (Virtual channel: Strain), LVDT's (Virtual channel: Voltage) AND a pressure cell (Virtual channel: Voltage), and I need to log this data and do some operations with this data. The problem is, this program needs to work with either the combination of 1 strain gauge, 1 LVDT and 1 pressure cell, but also with the combination, for example, of 4 strain gauges, 2 LVDT's and 1 pressure cell. For the strain gauge I need to be able to configure the strain gauge properties (but this is able with the bridge configuration cluster provided by LabView) for each strain gauge seperatly, also I need to be able to configure the scale and the input voltage for each LVDT or pressure cell, also seperatly. And I need to be able to select the channel for each gauge,LVDT and force cell. Also I need to be able to set these elements to zero before the testing begins.
Thereafter all these data needs to be logged into an excel file and also be shown on a clear graph that shows me the strain from the gauges, the displacement of the LVDT's and the force of the pressure cell.
Eventually, I need to become a stress-strain curve and the E-modulus of the material we're testing, presented in LabVIEW.
Does someone has an idea about how I should work this out step by step? Any help would be very usefull.
With kind regards,
Peter

You remember my previous post? Is it something like that you mean? I started there also with a cluster with name and scale information, but for the strain gauges it was too difficult to complete this. And eventually, it was getting way to complicated for me to proceed with programming.
And what do you mean with the configuration file? You mean a notebook file like I already tried?
Do you have some easy example (.vi) about how I should do this?
Dear Peter,
I'm sorry, but I did not remember your previous post (though I did remember looking at something you had posted).  However, I did "look it up" and saw that I'd made a suggestion that you store your configuration information in a Cluster, use an Enum (that you define) for the various types of Bridges, and store the data in a Configuration File of some form.  LabVIEW has a series of Functions on the File I/O Palette for .INI files (which it calls "Configuration Files", and I provided an example for using an Excel Workbook as a Storage format, but you can use anything, even a Text file.
The important thing is this allows you, the User, to have a set of "Details" (Bridge Type, Gauge Factor, Gauge Resistance, etc.) stored along with a Name that you choose, and at Run Time, you can specify or choose just the Name (say, from a Drop-down List) and pick up all of the other parameters from your Configuration File.
If you were going to use a Drop Down List, you would want to populate it with the "Correct Choices", i.e. the list of Names in your Configuration File.  So your Initialization Code would read the Configuration File and create a Ring (or something similar) populated with all of the Names.  Then, when you choose which Device using the Ring to force you to choose one of the named Devices, you would simply use the Ring value to index your array of Configuration information to get Bridge Type, Gauge Factor, etc.
My earlier Post was "specialized" in that it only applied to Bridge Specification.  If you want to include other Devices, such as LVDTs, you can certainly do that.  Now your basic Cluster would change -- instead of Name, Bridge Type, etc., which is specific for Bridges, you would have Name, Device Type (an Enum that was Bridge, LVDT, etc.), and perhaps a Variant that could be called Device Specs (my earlier Example shows a possible Bridge Device Spec as a cluster of Bridge Type and two Gauge parameters).
Do you know about Variants and how to handle them?  It just means a little more processing at the time of Reading, Writing, and Using.  Here the LabVIEW .INI Config Functions might be simpler as you could particularize the sub-parameters based on the Device Type.  You could still use Excel, but you'd need to give some thought about how to handle the different sets of columns for the different Device Types.  If you want to go the Excel route, design an Example Worksheet (similar to the example you showed at the beginning of this post, which was just for Bridges, I believe) and show us your thoughts.
Spending a little time on design now can really pay off later -- it may take you an extra hour to figure out how to write the code, but the code should take very little time to execute, and will keep your program nimble, effective, and capable of handling multiple and new devices.

  • How to play multiple instruments simultaneously on different MIDI channels?

I'm very new (today!) to Mainstage and I have a Yamaha HX-3 organ with three keyboards (Upper - Channel 1, Lower - Channel 2, Pedalboard - Channel 3). I'd like to play all three channels live simultaneously with a different instrument on each one (ie. Piano, Organ and Bass) but I can't figure out how to do this.
I've managed to setup a concert with all three keyboards on different MIDI channels with three different instruments but I can only play one of the keyboards at a time. The other two show MIDI keyboard activity but no sound...HELP!
I also have Native Instruments Komplete 7 if that would help in this regard (I know the Hammond organ sound in Komplete lets me play all three keyboards at the same time).
    Thanks,
    Don Thompson.

First create 3 keyboards in Layout mode and assign each to its own MIDI channel (I think you may have done this already). Then, create three channel strips, either at the Concert, Set, or Patch level with the three sounds you want to use. Each Channel Strip can be assigned to a different keyboard from your layout. To do this, go to Edit mode, select a Channel Strip, and look at its attributes in the pane below your layout. I don't have MS in front of me but there should be a dropdown list with the keyboards that you have in your layout. Just pick the right one for each strip and you should be good to go.

ical (the calendar program) that came with this apple mac pc suddenly stopped working. When I pulled the icon from the desktop, it then disappeared from the computer.I have been using it from the desktop for the past two years, without trouble. It has uninstalled itself, without my intervention and has eradicated all traces of it, including all my entries from the computer memory. There is no program in the applications list. Can you say why this may have happened please?

I opened one of the .calendar folders. There was a folder named Events which had either one or some files ending .ics. I opened several of these, which put up a dialogue window showing some parameters with data strings attached as follows :-

the problem I have since I upgraded to Mavericks version 10.9.1
The problem appears only with Mail not with other programs, not even with my browser.
When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but  he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

After SAP NetWeaver 04 installation with system copy I have done TMS configuration with virtual system for a test, It is working fine but while releasing request form SFD system (Development system) it get error  “Test call of transport control program (tp) ended with return code 0200. Message no. TK094”
I have reconfigured the TMS and check but it can’t help. TR gets release and import with OS level but at SAP level it gets error.

  • Transport control program tp ended with error code 0203

when i import queue and transport queue from dev to prd ,error show:
Transport control program tp ended with error code 0203
    Message no. XT200
    Diagnosis
An error occurred when executing a tp command.
      Command: IMPORT DEVK900298 P01 clientP01 U0 pf=/usr/sap/tra
      Return code: 0203
Error text: wrong syntax in tp call
      Request: DEVK900298
    System Response
    The function terminates.
    Procedure
Correct the error and execute the command again if necessary.

    Dear Allen,
The transport control program tp collects all return codes that occur when a tp command is executed. From all of these single return codes, a combined return code is calculated that tp outputs as a result at the end the command. During an import, for example, all return codes for individual import steps are handled. If a special return code does not occur, then the combined return code at the end is the maximum of individual return codes that occur. In addition to the value of the return code, tp also gives a short description of this return code. You can display this short description using the command explainrc.
Normally, all return codes that occur originate from individual transport steps. Since these individual return codes can only have the following values 0, 4, 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 16, the combined return code also has one of these values. However, if a general error occurs, a single return code over 200 is generated. For example, this could arise if tp cannot establish a connection to the database. The maximum return code for all single transport steps is output in a separate message before specifying the combined returned code. In this case, the combined return code is always the return code of the general error message.
    <b>tp Commands:</b>
    tp addtobuffer <request> <sapsid>
As of Release 4.6A, an explicit addtobuffer command leaves the position of the entry unchanged, if the relevant transport request is already in the buffer. Only the status of the entry is changed:
Unconditional modes appearing in the command line are added to the unconditional modes in the buffer.
All the steps of the entry are re-initialized.
If the entry found is not an initial entry, the import step for the command file is set to *4000 .
Before you call this command and its options, consider the effects of changing the import sequence.
    tp cleanbuffer <sapsid>
This deletes successfully imported change requests from the list of requests that are marked for import into the SAP System <SAPSID>. This function is contained in the commands tp import all <sapsid> and tp put <sapsid> .
    tp delfrombuffer <request> <sapsid>
If the specified request is marked for import into the specified SAP System, this flag is deleted from the import list.
Before you call this command, consider the effects of changing the import sequence.
As of Release 4.6A: If a transport request was only partially imported, you can delete this type of transport request from the buffer. However, if a deleted transport request is placed in the buffer (without having been initially or completely imported), the attributes of the old entry are reactivated. This means the return codes, the unconditional modes and tags of the deleted entry appear in the new entry.
    tp delstopmark <sapsid>
If the list of requests marked for import into the specified SAP System contains a STOP mark, the mark is deleted.
    tp export <request>
This exports the complete request from the source system. This command starts the export of a request from the operating system level. Only use this command in exceptional cases. The SAP System uses the command expwbo to release requests from CTS transactions.
    tp reformatbuffer <sapsid> [options]
This automatically reformats the entire buffer.
As of Release 4.5A, there are 2 different formats for buffer entries. (As of Release 4.5A, tp can work with both formats, and with a puffer containing heterogeneous entries. As of Release 4.6A, tp can work with 3 formats.)
However, in certain cases entries with the old formatting have to be reformatted during the normal run of tp . In this case, the entire buffer is automatically reformatted.
If you use the options downtorelease and Iagree for command reformatbuffer , you can format the buffer so that its formatting is compatible with an older release:
    Option downtorelease <Release>
The command reformatbuffer with this option formats the buffer so that the formatting corresponds to the one used in an old release. This is necessary if tp writes buffer entries to the buffer of another system, but uses a buffer format that the transport control programs does not understand in this system.
Since older formats cannot store the same amount of information as the newer ones, some information contained in the original buffer may not be stored in the unformatted buffer. This may lead to data loss.
To avoid data loss, the original buffer is stored. In addition, you have the following functions:
Displaying the unformatted buffer (using showbuffer <SID> )
Displaying the original buffer (using showbuffer buffer=<SID>SAV )
Accepting the unformatted buffer (using reformatbuffer and the option Iagree yes )
Resetting the changes (using reformatpuffer and the option Iagree no )
If you call reformatpuffer using downtorelease , tp displays in detail if information was lost by reformatting, and what that information was. tp also names the commands that is has to execute to accept or reject the changes.
If you use the option downtorelease , you must also specify the option Iagree with yes or no . You cannot use the transport system until you decide to accept or reject the changes.
    Option Iagree
Here are the following values for this option:
    yes ( true )
Accept the change made by tp reformatbuffer <SID> downtorelease <rel>
In this case, tp deleted the buffer semaphore file that was lifted for security reasons at the first call of reformatbuffer
    no ( false )
Reject the change made by tp reformatbuffer <SID> downtorelease <rel> In this case, tp copies the backup of the original buffer back and deletes the buffer semaphore file that was lifted for security reasons at the first call of reformatbuffer
    tp setstopmark <sapsid>
A special STOP mark is added to the list of requests registered for import into the specified SAP System. The commands tp import all <sapsid> and tp put <sapsid> only process the requests in front of this stop mark.
If there is no stop mark, it is automatically generated by the commands
tp import all <sapsid> and tp put <sapsid> .
When all the requests in front of the stop mark have been imported successfully, at the end of all the calls the related marks and the mark itself are deleted.
A STOP mark can only be placed at the end of the change requests that have already been marked. In addition, it can only be set if no other mark of the same kind already exists.
    tp showparams <sapsid>
This tp function displays which values the individual parameters of the transport profile have for the current SAP System.
    tp verse <request>
This creates versions of the objects in the specified request. This transport step is contained in command export .
As of Release 4.5A, more actions that prepare the export are performed in this step.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Problem with a wrapper program.

    Hi all,
we are facing problem with a wrapper program, through which we are calling three different xml reports.
when we independently submit these xml reports thorugh front end .
All the three programs run successfully & gives the desired output.
but when we run this through wrapper program.
All ths three programs run successfully ,but don't give output,i.e. output file comes as blank.
when I 'VIEW DETAILS" on the SRS window, the only difference between the independent program & the report through wrapper program is the 'UPON COMPLETION..'part.
The 'UPON COMPLETION..'part. for the independent program shows the RTF Template Layout name ,while the program submitted through the wrapper program doesn't show the layout name.
i have registered all the three reports as XML REPORTS,while the wrapper program as "package_name.procedure_name" & 'TEXT' as an output format.
can anybody tell us , the problem??
    thanks.

Wow, that's a lot of work. This isn't any different than PL/SQL in the real Oracle world. Parameters are named or positional. Named input uses the assignment operator of =>. Positional takes them in order per the procedure/function signature. In SQL*Plus, do a desc on fnd_request (owned by apps) and tell us what the "default" column represents.
If you have been typing in all arguments, figure out how many times you've done that, how much time it took, multiply it by your hourly rate, and then tell your manager you owe your company that amount of money for having wasted so much time.

  • What is an easy web-page creation program for use with MacBook Pro?

Can anyone suggest an easy web-page creation program for use with MacBook Pro?  I have used FrontPage with my PC, but am changing to a MacBook Pro.

It largely depends on your skill level. Do you want to write web page code, or do you want to just design something and have it turn into a web page automatically?
If you are more of a designer, try these:
    RapidWeaver
    Freeway Pro
    Muse
If you want to write web page code, try these:
    Coda
    BBEdit
    Dreamweaver
If you really don't want to write the code and want the best experience for your viewers, and you want to spend the least amount of time on it, my recommendation is:
    No program at all.
Instead, sign up with a web site company like:
WordPress.com (hosted by them) or WordPress.org (hosted on your server)
    Squarespace
    Wix
The reason is that these companies have fully operational, nicely designed web site templates that you just fill in with your words and pictures, and they are ready to go. They also give you these benefits:
Already designed to the latest web standards
    Already designed to resist hackers
Already designed to work on all browsers
Already designed to automatically adjust the page for readability on desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone screen sizes
    Already designed for accessibility
Already designed for Search Engine Optimization so that your page will be found on Google
Already designed with social media links built in if you want
It is not like the old days where you build a site in Front Page and you assume it will only be seen on a desktop computer. If you build it yourself with a web page program, do you have the knowledge to make a site that works on all of the different web browsers and mobile devices, and is friendly to search engines and social media? If you don't have those skills, working with a website company can be a lot better, faster, and more reliable than trying to hammer all of that out yourself using code in some app.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • About communication between C program and VI with CIN

I programmed a VI includes an UART communication CIN to communicate with a C program end. Now this two ends cannot communicate in same speed (bit/sec). If the VI is given a higher speed than the C end it can receive a correct data from the C end but has a Framing error. The C code in CIN can communicate with C program end normally. Does VI affect the UART communication setting? Analyzing the hpenomenon, the VI will slow down the CIN communication.
I will be very glad that you can give me any advice.
    Thanks in advance,
    James2001

Probably it's true that the VI slow down the CIN (the time required for exchanging data). In order to avoid different processing speed, try to implement handshaking.

Acrobat can not connect with the email program, what can I do?

    Hello,
I'm sorry you're having trouble; unfortunately, I'm not sure I understand what's going wrong. Would you mind giving me more details about what you're trying to do and what the problem appears to be?
Just in case you're using the desktop version of Acrobat and not Acrobat.com (which is the forum to which you posted your question), here's a link to their forum so you can repost your question there:

Terminate Firefox from the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager not the "Applications" tab. Then select firefox.exc and use the right-click context menu to "End Process" or use the "End Process" button on the selected process.
Windows 7 keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" will go directly to the Windows Task Manager and reopen the last tab that you had open.

I don't see why you feel you have to exit Firefox to get out of one website to immediately use another website. Very impractical. Does this have anything to do with desktop icons or not using tabs?
Completely unrelated to your question or your reason. Your flash plug-in is out of date.
Check for Flash updates to see if you really are current

It is the ****** design of the iphone.  It is ****** by design.

  • Problem with permissions, running programs and installing programs.

I've been having trouble installing and running programs. Whenever I try to install a new program I have to make sure to right-click and select "Run as Administrator", which is something that didn't happen before. And while running programs, sometimes
they don't work well (i.e. dropbox alerts me that it cannot run because of permission issues; calibre needs to run with Administrator level, otherwise it won't open my ebooks; the list goes on).
I tried using the elevated command prompt and typin secedit
/configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose to reset the permission settings, and it does not work (it tells me that some ignorable warnings occured).
There's only one account in this machine and it has administrator level.
    Any thoughts?

    1. First of all, it is a bad habit to work with administrator account only. Use standard user account where programs allows for it.
    2. For third party programs contact respective support/forums. Some programs are not written in right way and may need admin account. I would avoid such programs.
    3. Elevated rights (Run as Administrator) is natural enhancement that comes with Windows version 6.x
    4. If you want to play risky role, disable UAC (not recommended). Step-by-step is here:
