Troubleshooting hung connection NM-32a

When I dial in to 2620 terminal server through a dial up modem, the connection hangs at  "CONNECT 115200" . The connection will not progress to the banner/login. Has anyone experienced this?

How does your config looks like? Did you tried to lower the speed below 115200 and see if it's working?

  • Troubleshooting Fiber Connection on a Catalyst 2960

I am trying to test my fiber connectivity on a Catalyst 2960 before I deploy it. So what I thought I would do is connect it to another switch in my office with a open port for the fiber connection. The other switch is a Catalyst 3560G. Here are the port configurations:
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,100
    switchport mode trunk
    macro description cisco-switch
    interface GigabitEthernet0/25
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,100
    switchport mode trunk
The first one is the catalyst 2960 and the 3560G is the second.
When you show the interface for each of these it shows that it recognizes the media but the line protocal and the GigbitEthernet Port is down.
    Any Ideas?

Sorry... a fiber optic cable with a connector on each end.
To aid in troubleshooting, many times we loopback the signal back to the originating device. An optical loopback is just connecting the transmit (Tx) to the receive (Rx).
The multimode SFP/GBIC transceiver you are using will allow you to directly connect the Transmit and Receive ports without damage to the unit. This should provide you with a green link LED.
If so, then you can reconnect your fibers and loopback (connect the two fibers together) at the far end of the fiber link (use an optical adapter) and see if you get a green LED.

  • How to Troubleshoot the Connection Pool Exception?

Dear Oracle Gurus, very good afternoon to you.
I'm looking forward for some tips/troubleshoting guide to escape from the below exception, that occres very frequently to one of application that 100+ users will login from different locations & work on and update the data and save their work, where all in sudden they can't acces the application and it gets down.
Most of the times in the server log I observed below.
weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool RemoteDesktop.main to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
Please help me on, how to overcome this kind of exception.
In Weblogi c server I see below kind of Warnings.
If you set the buffer size to zero in a servlet, it would fail to respond and would initiate an infinite loop in the server. WebLogic Server would ultimately display a Errors:
ExecuteThread: '157' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default' has been busy for "633" seconds working on the request "Http Request: : ../updates/process_manager.jsp", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.
I searched over google for this kind of error, See otherusers posted the same kind of errors but didn't have any positive replies to troubleshoot this issue.
I also got Oracle Dev link on Weblogic version upgrade product where they fixed similar kind of error it seems. Which is shown below.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs61/notes/bugfixes2.html -- BUG # CR106186
    details:
    "Suspend Checker Thread" prio=10 tid=0x23eb90 nid=0xfec runnable

<ExecuteThread: '10' for queue: 'default' has been busy for "1,181" seconds working on the request "Http Request: servlet_uri", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.>
This problem was solved with a code fix.
Looking forward for some help, Thank you inadvance.
    FYI..
I'm using oracle thin driver JDBC connection/Weblogic 8.1

I agree that looking into the number of connections that you have open when you see
weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool RemoteDesktop.main to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
would be a good idea; but I would suggest that you don't increase without thinking about the consequences. I would look more closely at what the connections to the database are doing, for instance, how long are the connection being left open for? What are the queries that are being run? Should you expect to see all the connections in the connection pool being used? What is the current connection pool limit? Are you simply going to increase the number of connections to find that they are also waiting? What is the load on the database at the time?
It's the other error that you say you see
ExecuteThread: '157' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default' has been busy for "633" seconds working on the request "Http Request: : ../updates/process_manager.jsp", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.
What does this JSP do? Why would this be busy for so long? Is it related to the previous exception that you have? I'd ask you delevelopment team to look into this.
In short, it sounds like you have load issues on your server(s) and a careful tuning of the system after a full analysis (thread dumps, heap profiling, connection pool monitoring and code review) would probably be beneficial. It may be that restricting the thread pool may help, it may be that increasing the connection pool would help. I'd not plump for a quick fix here.

  • "Hung" connections

    Hi.
We are trying to determine why tcp based connections are consistently being hung on our Sun E450 with Solaris 8. We can watch the packets go back and forth with snoop on the server even when the connection is hung, but the specific service daemon doesn't seem to send back the right response to the workstation. The response seems to be zero bytes in size. This is happening within telnet, ftp, ssh.
Is there a known kernel/ip interface/streams/socket bug that causes this problem?
    Thanks,
    Marty Schlafer
    [email protected]

Interestingly the problem was caused by packet fragmentation over a VPN. Changing the MTU on the VPN ends to be large enough for the ip header, ipsec header, and the rest of the packet data solved the problem.

  • Troubleshoot TC connectivity issues

My Time Capsule has worked great for over two years.  All of the sudden, my MacBook Pro started having connectivity issues.  Eventually (over about two weeks), the issues became a total lack of wi-fi internet in our household.  I disconnected and powered off the modem and the TC.  I even called my ISP (Comcast).  We reset everything and everything else works fine (phone, TV and Internet plugged directly into modem).  I cannot plug my MacBookPro into the modem since I have no ehthernet port.  The light on the TC blinks amber.
Our local computers can access the files stored on the TimeCapsule, but airport utility gave the errors below (see pictures) before the comcast assisted reset. Now the Internet icon shows green in airport utility, but the error on the top icon says "no internet access"  (Or something like that, I am submiting this from memory since I am using the wi-fi at work- and I have NO IDEA why they pics are upside down, they are on my computer right side up).
Please tell me there is an easy fix, or at least one that can be accomplished via a computer that cannot cannect to the internet at the same time as the time capsule.

Your pictures sadly did not load correctly.. I see nothing but a blank square with the file name. You appear to have spaces in the names.. never a good idea. They are photo 1.jpg and photo 2.jpg
    Try again if you want.
A Gen3 TC is now past 3years.. well past if  you bought it early in the life of the Gen3. Oct 2009.
The economic life of most computer equipment is now 3years.
You should at least try a factory reset of the TC.
Before doing this I would also downgrade the TC firmware to 7.6.1 or even 7.5.2. You do this by holding the option key when clicking version.
And redo the setup. No files on the hard disk are lost doing this.
If the computers are using Mavericks.. I do strongly suggest you set names correctly.
Make all names in the TC short, Less than 10 characters is excellent.. no more than 20.
    No spaces.
Pure alphanumeric.. no apostrophe. It is not legal even in Apple network as it is replaced.
Mavericks changed to using SMB networking by default and it leads to all kinds of issues.
But if you have network connection to the TC by wireless but not ethernet from WAN port to the main comcast modem.. the internals of the TC are simply failing.
It is old and tired. Repair is not part of apple's world view.
I have repaired them. And posted instructions but it is well beyond a tinkerer .. this needs fairly committed DIY repair.

  • Secured Network Troubleshooting (Vista Connects | OS X doesn't)

    Hey;
So my dad has a MBP running 10.5.4 and bootcamp with Vista basic installed.
He is currently staying in a hotel with a secured wifi network. On the vista side he can connect fine. When hes on OS X and tries to connect he gets "connection failed" after he enters the password.
Any suggestions on how I can walk him through this issue over the phone?

OK - I have fixed this problem on my black MacBook where just after booting, it would read the Vista x64 DVD for about 15 seconds then spit it out and not boot.
Most people were saying it is a problem with the DVD drive in the MacBook. It would not accept my original 64-bit DVD, nor did it work when I copied it onto a DVD+R. However, when I copied it onto a DVD-RW, it read the disk fine.
    The steps I took:
    1) Insert original Vista 64 DVD (or modified DVD if you're experiencing the "1. 2." boot menu error). If your MacBook rejects the DVD even in Mac OS, use a friend's Mac to do this.
    2) Open Disk Utility
    3) The installation DVD should be in the left sidebar, named FRMCXFREENDVD or similar. Click to select it.
    4) Click *New Image* in the Disk Utility toolbar
    5) In the window that appears, under Image Format, select *DVD/CD Master*. Leave Encryption as None. No need to change the file name. I saved it to my desktop.
    6) Click Save. Then, wait about 10 minutes for the image to save.
    7) Eject the original disc and insert a blank DVD-RW.
    8) The image you just created should now be in the sidebar with
.cdr at the end. Click on it and select Burn from the toolbar, then select *Verify Data* and *Mount on Desktop*, then click Burn.
    9) When the disc finishes burning, leave it in the drive, open Boot Camp Assistant, select *Start the Windows Installer*, it will reboot, and all should be fine.
I've tested this new disc on two MacBooks which previously both spit out the old disc. It works on both.
NB: I used a DVD-RW, but other disc types may work. The trick is to duplicate your disc as a type that your drive likes.

  • J6480 troubleshoot wireless connection to Mac OS 10.5.8

    Hello,
I was previously able to wirelessly print from my MacbookPro (10.5.8) to my OfficeJet J6480 over my home wireless network (Netgear router). I unplugged my printer, and when I plugged it back in, try as I may, I haven't been able to restore wireless printing (USB printing works fine).
After trying simple measures, I eventually just uninstalled the HP driver software, restarted my computer, and reinstalled the driver from the website. Printing a Network Configuration Page from my printer shows it is connected to my wireless router with IP address 192.168.1.2. However, when I go to add the printer, it is not detected under HP IP Printers, nor can I see the printer web page when I type http://192.168.1.2 into my web browser.
I can add the Bonjour printer to my printer list, but again when I go to Show Bookmarks > Bonjour and try to see the printer webpage, I get an error (server not responding).
It seems that my laptop is not communicating with my printer. If anyone has advice it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Ok here is the update, this morning I was able to "reset printing system" and re-add the USB and Bonjour printers. USB works. Bonjour it says "unable to connect to printer". Cannot detect IP printer.
Network configuration page I just printed says connected to wireless network, IP address 192.168.1.2.
I am still unable to open the printer web page by going to show bookmarks > bonjour, or by going to http://192.168.1.2 in my browser window.
It seems my printer is on the network, but for some reason my computer is not communicating with it . . .
Other things I should try? Thanks!

  • Advice on troubleshooting Server connectivity

An application in my organization will intermittently have connectivity issues to the Database it queries. For the purpose of testing, we installed the application directly onto the Database server and the user still had connectivity issues. Because of this, I don't believe it's related to the network. Would anyone have advice on what they would do in this situation? How can I verify throughout the entire day that the Database server is accessible on a specific port? I've used the command telnet, IP and port number but I'd like to make sure the connection is available throughout the entire day, is there a better tool I could use?
    Thanks for your help!   -Mark

I reconfigured the SLA as follows:
    ip sla monitor 10
    type tcpConnect dest-ipaddr 192.168.1.100 dest-port 1433 source-ipaddr 10.10.10.100 source-port 1433
    timeout 30
ip sla monitor schedule 10 life forever start-time now
The statistics are still coming up as failed.

  • Troubleshoot when connecting iPhone to Windows XP

    Hey guys,
can anyone give me some advice what to do... I'm having problem connecting my iPhone to my PC. Every time I plug it in, Windows shut down like I restarted them.
I even reinstall original Windows XP, made all updates to all software on PC and still have this problem...
When I reinstalled Windows I started adding programs one by one and checking does iPhone work. And it did... everything was fine until I installed Windows Live Messenger. Then I uninstalled it and it's every component and it did not make any change... again when I plug Iphone it shuts down.
I know you all work mostly with Macs, but if anyone can give me some advice what to do I would be grateful.

    hello zergling38!
have a look at the windows device manager.
(right click "my computer" -> manage -> device manager -> imaging devices)
check every imaging device for a driver-file similar to "LVUSBSta.sys". (in my case it was an acer notebook build-in camera driver which forced the bsod) probably this file has an old version and needs to be updated. ask your workstation, notebook or imaging-device manufacturer for the latest driver version.
attention: the sys-file which i mean is not an apple or microsoft file (eg. "usbscan.sys"). the sys-file you have to lock for has to be from logitech or any similar vendor.
to check which files belong to a device driver:
    "+name of imaging-device+" -> properties -> tab "driver" -> driver details
if you don't see any imaging-device, it's maybe because they're hidden.
in this case you first have to activate visibility for hidden or non present devices under windows 2000, 2003 and xp:
right click "my computer" -> properties -> advanced -> environment variables -> section "system variables" -> new -> dialog-box "new system variable" ->
    variable name: DEVMGRSHOW_NONPRESENTDEVICES
    variable value: 1
    ok -> ok -> ok
open the device manager and activate the "hidden view":
device manager -> view -> show hidden devices
you may also search for this file inside "c:\windows\system32\drivers".
if you find "LVUSBSta.sys", rename this file into "lvusbsta.sys.old" and copy a newer version of this file into the drivers-directory.
reboot your pc, connect your iphone and see what happens...
additionally take a look at my more detailed solution (includes download-links):

    hope, this helps!

  • Troubleshooting DPS Connection issues - Sign in failed.  Please try again.

All of our users are having trouble connecting to the Digital Publishing Suite through the Folio Builder in InDesign.  Whenever we try to log in we get a "Sign in failed.  Please try again." error.  I'm almost positive it's something in our network that's causing the problem, but I'd like to see if I can narrow it down so I can direct our security dude in making an exception.  I think DPS only uses port 443 for communication so I'll make sure that's open, but is there any other potential areas where I can do some investigation?

Are you guys able to login to the DPS dahsboard? (https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/welcome.html)
when a an ID is first set up, it requires that you login to the dashboard and accept the terms and policies to active the Adobe ID.
If yes but not on the panel, then your network firewall can be blocking access to DPS sites. I can provide you more documentation if the answer is yes.

  • How to troubleshoot intermittent connection drops on Apple LAN (TimeCapsule   AirPorts)

Hi all, I have built out a wireless network for an office space. The network consists of a TimeCapsule acting as a router w/ dhcp and 3 Apple AirPorts acting as access points to the TC. • KABA connection issue - program not registered

I am trying to troubleshoot a connection error between SAP and KABA.  I have the RFC created in SAP and when I test the connection I get a program not registered.  The KABA "amsproc" service on the KABA side has been restarted, we have occasionally received a password locked message in the SAP system log after restarting the KABA service (I believe this means SAP and KABA are communicating).  We have since reset the password, but we can not successfully test the RFC and when attempting to send IDOC's out we get the program not registered error.  Is there something on the SAP side that needs to be done to register the program or is starting the service on the KABA side going to register the program with SAP?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi,
In Central Management Console ie, Admin application of BOE, you need to configure the BW system. Use the below URL,
    http://<serverhostname>:<port>/CmcApp
After logging in Select the Authentication and SAP as authentication type.  Regarding how to configure, follow the configuration steps mentioned in the below article:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a00ee3b2-5283-2b10-f1bf-8c6413e0898f
Once you import the roles with the above configuration, the user with which you are validating the RFC connection will be imported in the BOE.
Now, verify the RFC in the BW system.
    Regards,
    Noor.
