Troubleshooting "Terminated" Status

Greetings,
I am trying to troubleshoot a DQXI 11_7 installation that I inherited.  Specifically, after a recent reboot MOST attempts to run an address cleanse via webservices results in the following:
<FL_RESPONSE>
  <DATAFLOW_ID>D20111028_212557577</DATAFLOW_ID>
  <STATUS>TERMINATED</STATUS>
  </FL_RESPONSE>
In some cases (5% of the time), the same address is cleansed successfully.
Nothing in the Event Logs indicates a problem.  Subsequent restarts of the DQXI server don't resolve the issue.  Subsequent reboots don't resolve the issue.  I have also tested the Test_Install_USA blueprint and it works fine.
We are looking to upgrade to 3.2 or 4 in the near future, however need to get this specific server up and running.  Repointing the web services (.net) to our production server and testing renders positive results, so it is definitely an issue with this specific test server.
Any suggestions or thoughts?

Capt. Jack -
I think I can shed some light on the change of behavior. Specifically, in 3.0 and earlier, if a user suspends on a step that caused an error because on the run-time error dialog box, and the user terminated the execution because of the error, TestStand was incorrectly changing the Error status to Terminated for that step. We feel that the Error status should not be altered, so there was a change made in 3.1 to ensure that if a termination does not affect the status of a step that has already executed and set its status. In addition, if the termination occurs while a step is executing and the status has not yet been set, the termination status is given to the executing step upon completion, independent of whether the step is monitoring for a termination status change.
When you say that "This Step Terminates on Failures", I assume that the step calls termination but the step is also directly setting the status. One option is to modify the step to either not set the status on termination or explicitly set the status to "Terminated". For example, if your step type is using the Status Expression like the NI Pass/Fail step type, you could set the status to Terminated as shown below:
Step.DataSource != "Step.Result.PassFail" ? Step.Result.PassFail = Evaluate(Step.DataSource) : False; Step.Result.PassFail ? "Passed" : "Terminated")
Hope this helps...

  • [Guide] Useful terminal commands for troubleshooting/system status.

Hi everyone.  I'm looking for a concise list of useful commands to run incase something should happen to be going wrong somewhere (and also a 1-line for what they do)...the kind of output you'd post in a bug report.  Some other good commands would help make "whats going on under the hood" more clear.
Also, if you have some useful directories (like /var/log), I'll take them too.
Current List (Thanks to all the posts below):
iwconfig, ifconfig | currently running wireless and overall link/state status.
dmesg | down/n/dirty low level system activity log
    htop (non-built-in) | Process monitor
iftop, nethogs (non-built-in) | Bandwidth usage monitor
    lsmod | Currently loaded modules
pstree | Currently running processes in a tree-text format
df -h | Hard drive space usage
    ps -A -ao rss,comm | sort -rn | sed -n '1,5{s/^/\t/;s/ /\t/p}' | Top 5 ram hogs and how much
    xsel -o -p |  Clipboard monitoring (non-built-in)
    xsel -o -b |
    /var/log - looking for a log from a system process...probably here.
~/.XXXX - User installed programs house their config files here... ~/ = Your username's home directory.  Equivalent to Application Data on Windows.

ltrace -- strace-like, but shows library calls, not only system ones.
vmstat -- shows many essential system parameters at a glance, first tool to start investigating bottlenecks
lsof -- "list open files"; as network sockets, pipes, ... are all "files", there are many interesting informations to gather. But I use it for two purposes mainly: to identify file descriptors in strace/ltrace output and for finding deleted, but still open files eating disk space.
I like atop also, for its ability to show aggregated data, grouped by user or process name.

  • Detect "terminated" status of sequence call

    Hello,
I am using TestStand 2012 and one of my sequences is a bunch of sequence calls to other sequences.
Each call is being made using the "Use New Execution", and waiting for the execution to finish before the next step.
I am using this option because I like having different reports for each sequence.
However, I still would like to capture which call succeeded or failed in my main sequence.
For this, after each call, I have a statement whose status expression is:
    ( Find( RunState.PreviousStep.ResultStatus, "Passed", 0, True, False ) >= 0 ) ) ? "Passed" : "Failed".
The problem I'm finding is that when one of the sequences I'm calling is terminated in the middle due to an error in the UUT which doesn't allow me to continue testing, the main sequence gets the status as "Passed".
So, when I see "Passed" in my main sequence report, I still have to open the individual reports to make sure it really passed.
Would anyone know a way around this?
I tried changing the status expression of the sequence call step but it's a read only field.
    Thank you in advance,
    Leandro
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
Sorry for the confusion... let me try to be more clear...
So, my test campaign for a specific UUT is composed of about a dozen sequences, which can be run independently. But I created another sequence, to work as a "batch", calling all these dozen sequences.
Pretty much what it does is:
    1) Call first sequence in new execution
    2) Wait for execution to finish
    3) Check results of execution
    4) Add results to report
    5) Wait 10 seconds
    6) Call second sequence in new execution
    7) So on...
So, for each new execution, I have a dedicated report, which is exaclty what I want. But for my "batch" sequence, I would like to be able to get a report saying which executions passed or failed, so I don't have to open the reports for each execution individually.
The way I'm doing this (in step 3 above) is with the following expression:
    ( Find( RunState.PreviousStep.ResultStatus, "Passed", 0, True, False ) >= 0 ) ) ? "Passed" : "Failed"
This way, anything different than "Passed" would give me a "Failed" result for that execution, and that's fine. The problem is that when one of the executions is terminated before it's finished, the PreviousStep.ResultStatus is giving me "Passed".
I didn't know about the GetStates() method... Looks promissing! I'll give it a try.

  • Employee Assignment Termination status as 'Terminate Process Assignment'

    hi everybody ,
can any body tell me what is the API i need to use to terminate an Employee Assignment with the status as 'Terminate Process Assignment' .currentely i am using "hr_assignment_api.actual_termination_emp_asg" but it is terminating the assignment with the status as 'Terminate Assignment' . please help me its urgent.
    Thanks in advance.

Final standard process is not used for US legislation, we use Final Process Date for US. You can use any kind of assignment status, which has SYSTEM_STATUS as TERM_ASSIGN.

  • Window logon termination status 0xc0000135

T43 Laptop. Was working fine. Possibly occurred after closing up and going into Hibernate mode. Get this error on power up. Will not boot in safe mode. Already tried Rescue Recovery and restored from ext drive all system files, driver files.. That all seems to work with no problem. But will not complete the boot. Error takes place after WINDOWS logo start up then when it goes to what I assume is login page it errors out..

You should tri renaming any hiberfil.sys files at your %systemdrive%, since it won't boot than mount the drive separately by booting another drive in your Ultrabay or removing your hdd to be mounted as a data disk and rename hiberfil.sys to anything else and move it to a subdirecotry from the root of C:\ to be safe.
don't delete it since it may be valuable if you need it later but could also contain the cause of your crashing.
You can avoid all of the displaced drives by booting a Bart, Knoppix or Slax  to name a few distro's to access the filessystem and modify  / possibly delete later hiberfil.sys which is where your hibernation status is kept.
Don't just sit there, take a second and use the Kudo's button to compliment the people who help you.

  • SCSI termination utility

Does anybody recall? It seems to me there was a utility program which would provide information on the monitor about the termination status of any attached SCSI devices, so one didn't have to visually inspect the device for its termination status. I thought I had the program, too, but not having had an occasion for years to need it, I don't know if I'm mistaken or if I just can't find the program I need. Thanks.

  • Terminated employees assignment not being end dated

    Dear Gurus,
I have terminated an employee and his status is shown as Ex -Employee but his assignment is not being end dated till the termination date. I dont know what is the problem? in fact is is even letting me open assignment form after the termination date where as in normal cases it does not even allows us to go to assignment form after the termination date.
    Help Please
    Muhammad Noman Shafique

    Hi Muhammad,
There are 3 important dates on the Terminations form -
    Actual Termination date(ATD)
    Last Standard Process date (LSPD)
    Final Process date(FD)
If all the above are the same, then you cannot navigate into the Assignment form, after the termination date. i.e. the assignment is end-dated as of the termination date.
If the LSPD or FD are later than the ATD, then you can still navigate into the assignment form as the assignment is still active with a termination status.
There is a special use-case, for the above scenario. Consider this -
You have terminated an employee as of 15-Apr-2012 (ATD). Now you can process the employee payroll only till 15-Apr-2012, if all the above dates are the same.
Now, if you want to process some elements like Termination-pay or Leave-salary, which you want to calculate at the month-end, then you can give the LSPD as 30-Apr-2012. And at the month-end you can process the payroll.
Say, you want to process an element called commission or Extra-pay for a terminated employee, 6 months after his termination, then the Final process date can be changed to the month you want to process the element(If you see closely, the FD is the only date which can be amended on the termination form).
So depending on your use-case, you need to enter the dates.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks,
    Vigneswar

    1. Execution.GetStates() - look at the termination status. Termination is an execution specific state, not a thread state.
    2. You could use a PostStep callback and do the counting yourself (e.g. in a file global or station global variable), however there is a performance cost to poststep callbacks so it depends on whether or not it's worth the performance cost in your particular use case.
    Hope this helps,

  • Contract Lines terminated in error

    Hi,
We have a bunch of contract lines that got wrongly terminated by a program. We need to un-terminate those. I can update the contract lines date_terminated to NULL using okc_contract_pub.update_contract_line API, and it works fine. But the Install Base and Service Request information still shows the contract as terminated for that Serial No. This is very urgent as our customers may be denied service if the warranty/contract shows terminated status.
    Any help is appreciated.
    TIA
    Alka.

Sorry, never mind. Figured out that I was not updating the sts_code....duh!

  • Essbase terminating session "MDX report" request

I have an essbase "terminating " status session with MDX report request ( ASO ).
I tried to force " Logout" and "Kill" still does not work.
    Please help

You'll have to kill that using task manager (if on windows) on Essbase server. On task manager, go to View->Select Columns select command line. This will show you which application is EssSvr.exe is associated with. kill that process.
if on *nix use ps and see what the pid is and kill the process.

  • Roaming Profile Folder Creation Immediately Inaccessible

Set up is AD 2008.  Terminal 2012 R2, Fileserver 2012.
Before we've had it set so we could create a user in AD, log them onto the Terminal, it creates the profile, which on log out is saved to its roaming location on the Fileserver with a V2 after it.  In their profile field in AD, that Fileserver location
    was given as well.
Something changed recently and we're not sure what.  Now if I create a user in AD, and log them into the Terminal, it gives me a message that a temporary profile is being used for this log on.  When I log out, it creates the V2 on the Fileserver,
but I'm unable to access it even with admin credentials.  I've been able to change the owner, but it doesn't allow me to delete that folder and try again.  I have been able to run this
    SET DIRECTORY_NAME="C:\profilelocation"
    TAKEOWN /f %DIRECTORY_NAME% /r /d y
    ICACLS %DIRECTORY_NAME% /grant administrators:F /t
    PAUSE
where the profile location is the folder in question and have it open it up enough to delete so we can troubleshoot.  But doing that doesn't change the initial Terminal status of using a roaming profile and it using a temporary profile.
On the terminal server, I have also found the registry setting for that user and deleted it (the one with the .bak ending).  That allows a good logon if I remove the profile location setting in AD.  But when I move the folder to the fileserver,
and then add the location back in AD, I get the Temporary Profile error again.
Any ideas where to start looking?  I don't think we've changed any GPs that affect our terminal users.  Current users are fine, but I won't be able to create any new users and have them use a roaming profile.
    Ben Rollman

Well, I'm still not sure what changed.  Here's what I've done so far.  (Email to my boss yesterday.)
I set up a test container under States and moved all the state user, test user, etc into it.  Then I backed up the current ExtUsers_UsersGPO settings and imported them
into a new GPO called TextExt… and enabled the computer settings.  It had the following but the Computer Setting wasn’t enabled so it wouldn’t have done that.
    Policy
    Setting
    Comment
Add the Administrators security group to roaming user profiles
    Enabled
I deleted the local and roaming file, and for good measure the registry entry.  I logged in as “testuser” and didn’t receive any problems.  Created a test folder,
test file, logged off.  I see the testuser.V2 on the FS, but I can’t access it, like before.
I run the following script to change it so I can access it.
    SET DIRECTORY_NAME="C:\Files\Profiles\testuser.v2"
    TAKEOWN /f %DIRECTORY_NAME% /r /d y
    ICACLS %DIRECTORY_NAME% /grant administrators:F /t
    PAUSE
The FS profile is set for full rights for domain and local admin, but no user.  So I add the user as the owner, and give the user full rights.  Log in, and I get
    this.
Your roaming profile is not synchronized correctly with the server. Windows will load your previously-saved local profile instead. See the previous events for details.
    And these in event viewer.
    Windows cannot copy file
\\statefs\Profiles\testuser.V2\ntuser.ini to location C:\Users\testuser\ntuser.ini. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
DETAIL - The system cannot find the file specified.
Windows could not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you log off. Windows could
not load your profile because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does not have the correct security. Either the current user or the Administrators group must be the owner of the folder.
I had put the icons on the FS folder just to see if it would show up.  I saw the test folder okay in both.  But when I logged back in, the shortcut icons weren’t
there.  AND when I logged off, it overwrote the FS folder, removing the icons.
From there I checked the TS local profile folder (just in case) and saw it had no testuser rights at all.  The owner of that folder was SYSTEM.  So just for fun I
changed the owner to testuser, made sure to set it for all subfolders, logged in, no error message.  Logged out, put shortcuts into the desktop folder on FS, logged back in, no errors and the shortcuts are there.
    So.
I don’t know if it’s the GP or the fact that maybe the TS folder wasn’t getting the right permission to allow the roaming process to write to it or both.  I’m going to
try to recreate this, see if there’s a way to shorten the process or create a template like before.

  • Time Machine backup file corrupted and locked

This one is notorious for working for a while, then . . . not.
In addition to the problems above I got a pop-up from Time Machine saying the backup file is broken and it needs to create a new one. I told it to go ahead and what happened is that it actually proceeded to DELETE the old backup file before creating a new one - there goes my several months of backup history!
Yes, just as it says in the message. See #C13 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
All I can say do now is connect my drive directly to my iMac and figure out a way how I can backup my other iMac and the MacBook I have. On the AE this just worked remotely.
    Yeah. Until it didn't.
Really not much options here to backup a home with 3 Macs!?!
Sure there is. Back the others up to the same drive, over your network, via sharing. See #22 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for details and setup instructions.

We couldnu2019t located any clear error indication that might help us in troubleshooting.
We already configured settings in .rhosts file & we had resolve the permission problem
We executed the following commands as user <sid>adm:
In DB host, we executed rsh <CI host> date & it works.
But in DB hosts, its doesn't work when we executed rsh <DB host> date
Is this issue should be isolated as AIX OS issue?
We couldn't execute any activities from DB13 as the DB rfc destination is not working.
Is that alternative way that we can execute sapxpg on DB host?
Or we have to install standalone gateway as solution? It's that any impact if we installing standalone gateway at DB host now (It's production system)?
    Thanks.

    Hi Guru,
When we tried to execute the following command from host DB:
    rsh <Host CI> date
    it was return results.
However, if we tried to execute from host CI:
    rsh <Host DB> data
    it was return no results.
That's means we could'nt remotely start any of external command at DB host from CI host.
Start external program error was isolated within operating system level.
    Any luck on this?
    Thanks.

  • LIRC / KDE freezing for months, need a solution now!

First of all I've been following these two threads until no one has posted anymore
Hard lockup, no logs, how to debug?
    Computer freezing how to troubleshoot?
Actually, for me, they have been too general in the sense that most everyone has found a completely different solution, for some it was ATI, some Nvidia, some Gnome, some had solved it with specific modules like wifi. But I need answers for mine and since I have no clue if it's kernel / module related, hardware, software or ever where to look anymore (newbie forever!) I'm posting to the Newbie forum.
And this is how it looks:
Around November last year my computer started freezing, AMD64 2,6GHz desktop, 4GB RAM, Nvidia onboard graphics, all about 3 y.o. including the installation of Arch Linux x86-64. Until now I never had a problem. Then it all came down. It froze so often causing me to do so many hard resets that I eventually lost about 100GBs of data, only some of which I could recover. And it continued to freeze, so over the holidays I reinstalled Arch 64 and KDE, this time however alongside Ubuntu - just in case... In the beginning it froze up mostly while playing audio or video in Amarok and XBMC, but this is what I usually do with it anyway, often just surfing in Opera or Chromium, occasionally moving files and sometimes just clicking anywhere with the mouse will do the trick.
And this is what I have attempted to solve this, well, besides a completely new installation, I have tried downgrading many packages, removed daemons, switched to linux-lts, tried the nouveau driver, tried different audio backends, removing unneeded gstreamer plugins, switched off compositing, removed my dot kde directory, created a new user - all without absolutely any difference in behavior.
Then I thought it might very well be a hardware issue althought I have to say this - Ubuntu has not crashed even once. Over the weekend I left Ubuntu running for 3 days and found it just as I left it, then booted in to Arch, went to play softball for a couple of hours and came back to a frozen system. I also installed a case fan, bought a new Nvidia card but nothing has changed. When it freezes I can reboot and it will run for another few hours, so it can't be too hot.
This is a real nightmare and I cannot find anything in the logs, only an occasional suspicion that leads to nowhere. My suspicions now are powersaving and evdev. I really don't know where else to look so I am asking the help of the Arch community to have a look at what I have previously posted in the aforementioned threads in addition to my description here and tell me which logs you would like to see. Many thanks!
