Trying to debug openUrl failing.

I am trying to run the following code in the iPhone simulator:
NSString* urlString = @"launchme:12345678910";
UIApplication* thisApp = [UIApplication sharedApplication];
NSURL* testURL = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString];
BOOL success = [thisApp openURL:testURL];
However it does not launch the url. I've tried the LaunchMe example and that works. The difference between the two apps is that in mine, the _urlString property of testURL says: "Variable is not a CFString", while in the LaunchMe app it is out of scope.
I've changed the urlString to @"http://www.apple.com" and it works, so I know the problem is with trying to use the string @"launchme:12345678910". However, I don't see what is wrong with that string.
I've had this problem before, in: http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa;jsessionid=13649B06DB66E2C924EC259 928B27D39.node0?messageID=12751862&#12751862
I managed to get that version working, although I wasn't sure how. This is the same code, and I've noticed it no longer works, although I don't remember changing the code since then.

I just copy/pasted that code into the LaunchMe app and that works too. So it seems to be the combination of the "launchme:" url and my specific app.
The only thing I can think of that is different in my app from the LaunchMe app is that I have upgraded my app so that there is also an iPad version. I can see why it wouldn't work for the iPad version, since there is no phone capability; however I can't see why it doesn't work for the iPhone version, which is the version I am running in the simulator, since this should have phone capabilities.
Do you need to have bespoke code/configuration settings to launch a phone link after upgrading to an iPhone/iPad app?

  • Error while trying to debug on windows mobile 6.1  with j2me SDK 3.0 ea

    Hi,
    I tried to debug a simple application today. It works fine with the emulator but debug fails to connect to the device.
    I followed the steps described in the userguide of 3.0.
    host operating system: windows xp sp3
    device: htc touch pro
    device operatiing system: windows mobile 6.1 professional
    The device is listed in the device selector of the SDK as Touch_Pro
    The device is connected and active sync is running (i can explore the phone using windows explorer)
    sun-java-cldc-emu.cab has been installed on the device and is running
    When i try to debug the application from the SDK or netbeans 6.5(added 3.0ea as a platform) i get the following error:
    Starting emulator with port number 51307
    Cannot create device connection: Failed to connect to device 9!
    Result: 1
    I tried setting the loglevel to DEBUG in log4j config of the SDK, but thats it.
    Are there any other settings i can change to get more detailed output?
    Where do you report bugs/feedback for j2me SDK 3.0 ea?
    regards,

    Hi dominikg,
    At first, You can try to restart the device-manager from system tray.
    If it doesn't help, then try the following:
    - stop the device manager
    - Remove c:\Docement and Settings\<your User>\javame-sdk folder.
    - Ran the device manager from <SDK>/bin directory
    - try to debug again.
    Did you tried to change port 51307 to another.
    Early access build had some problems with device manager, I hope that final release will be better :)

    Igor

  • Error line 68 in DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP when trying to debug from behind firewall

    Hello!
    I am using sqldeveloper on a windows client, connecting to an Oracle 10.1.0.4 database on AIX 5.3 behind our internal firewall. No sweat, I have an sql*net "hole" through the firewall to the database listener.
    But when trying to debug a PL/SQL procedure, the debugging session cannot start but gets the following errors:
    ORA-30683: failure establishing connection to debugger
    ORA-12535: The requested operation could not be completed within the time out period.
    The cause is readily seen in one of sqldeveloper's own windows, namely that the procedure call
    CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP( '192.168.205.143', '1290' )
    fails. Our internal firewall quite rightly doesn't allow a connection from "any port" on the database server to "any port" on my PC.
    Is there any workaround for this issue, short of trying to get my security officer to open up so that "any port" on the database server can connect to "any port" on my windows client? I can change "debug preferences" in sqldeveloper to point to only one port on my windows client, but since I cannot control what port on the server the DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP procedure chooses when it tries to connect to my client, that is only a halfway solution as I see it.
    Cheers from snow-white Denmark,
    Hans Henrik Krohn

    Wrong install Disc, that one is machine specific, & doubtful a reinstall will help all that much.
    More RAM will likely help, but not awfully likely it'll be 50%.
    To tell, ehen it gets slow, Open Activity Monitor, Show:>All Processes, sort on CPU%, see if anything using too much CPU% when this happens, click on Memory tab, do you have many Pageouts?

    I have OSX 10.6.8 with FaceTime 1.0.2.  It rings, tries to connect, then fails.  Is there an update for Facetime for this OSX 10.6.8?

    Hi Pam TX,
    Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
    If you have FaceTime 1.0.2 on OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), you can update to version 1.0.5 to resolve this issue:
    OS X: FaceTime calls no longer connect when using Snow Leopard - Apple Support
    Install the latest FaceTime update available from the Updates pane of the Mac App Store to resolve this issue.

  • WIS 10901 when trying to debug in ABAP

    Hi,
    We get a WIS 10901 in Webi when trying to debug in the MDX part of the ABAP stack with external breakpoints. I wonder how XI gets the event that ABAP stack should start the debugger. This usually works for other RFC connected applications as well.
    Any ideas ?
    Best regards, Philipp

    Do you have the file c:\jdk1.3\jre\bin\fdebug.exe, if you don't, you
    need it. Look for the file in the base install directory, it should be
    there and then copy it to the location above.

    Follow write permission on thread below - same error message
    Re: CS6 updates and Mac write permissions
    Need Adobe help to solve this. My own searches in Forums and Google all have failed.

    It is not an Adobe problem. You have a OS permissions problem. You can try to correct this by using Disk Utility to Repair Permissions. It is in the First Aid area of Disk Utility.

  • Proc "debug assertion failed!"

    hi,
    i m working on oracle 9i on windows ,when i run a proc then i get these error at end of proc, tell y m i getting these error
    debug assertion failed!
    program:preptty.exe
    file:fprintf.c
    line:56
    expression:str !=null
    for information on how your program can cause an assertion
    failure,see the visual c++ documentation on asserts.
    (please retry to debug the application)
    and then
    APPLICATION ERROR

    the memory could not be "read".
    click on OK to terminate the program
    click on CANCEL to debug the program
    now i came to know that in my proc where i used lots of time printf command
    fprintf(ptr,"Calculation Terminated Sucessfully!!!\n");
    there i m having this problem but when i coment these printf commands i didnt get this error
    id idnt know why this error coming now and how to resolve it ?
    thanks

    Why do you suspect an operating system issue?
    I'm guessing you are on Windows. If you look at fprintf.c and line 55/56 you should see:
    VALIDATERETURN( (str != NULL), EINVAL, -1);
    VALIDATERETURN( (format != NULL), EINVAL, -1);
    These are the checks for the file pointer and the format control string and if either is NULL an assertion is raised.
    Here's an easy way to see this:
    {noformat}
     * this will cause an assertion
    fprintf(NULL, "bad!");
    {noformat}
    {noformat}
     * this will cause an assertion
    fprintf(fp, NULL);
    {noformat}
    Have you confirmed that the assertion is raised from:
    fprintf(ptr,"Calculation Terminated Sucessfully!!!\n");
    Since you have "expression:str !=null" that is an indication that the file pointer is NULL. Perhaps you are not checking the file pointer before using it and it is NULL?

    The last update failed on
    my window 7 home prermium pc, resulting in me having to try it manually download and install,
    this also failed leaving my I tunes not working, I tried restore back to a
    safer date, but every time it tried to update it failed. eventually it told me
    to delete and reinstall, this fails due to the apple mobile device service
    failing to start, and asking me if I have sufficient privileges to start system
    service, I have tried all suggestions on iTunes page, ie delete everything to
    do with apple, and start as administrator, nothing works, help please

    I too have tried the latest iTunes (12.1.1.4) in Win7. I did a search for latent drivers as you noted but found none. I am glad it worked for you - I'm still no-joy at this point. I'm able to install AMDS over and over again, without issue - it just doesn't start then iTunes launch fails with Error 7. I have to manually remove it.
    I am able to connect my iPhone via USB cable and access my photo storage on the phone. I am just not able to install iTunes anymore. I have attempted resolution to this issue for almost two months now. Until that time, I was content with what was installed. It was only when the proverbial update box appeared that I attempted to 'update' my iTunes. WHAT A MISTAKE putting blind faith into an Apple request to update. I SUGGEST NOT TO UPDATE YOUR ITUNES IF IT IS RUNNING PROPERLY!
    I realize now, once again I might add, my reliance on software provided by others. It's like anything else, I shouldn't rely on just one method for anything. Time to search for a more pleasant alternative than Apple. Truly, when it worked, it was good at its job, but now that I am wasting time I am looking seriously at upgrading to another type of smartphone and media management software. Way too much trouble for anything as simple as this should be. I wonder, is this a result of another feud with Microsoft?

    I get an error message for all the Apple tutorial videos:  The file you are trying to play has failed to finish downloading and can no longer play."  What is wrong and how can I fix it?

    This means that you have downloadd the file from the internet, and the file did not download completely so the computer can't play it. To fix this, just re-download the file and make sure it finishes.

  • When I try to upgrade and install to iOS 5.1, error message prompt "operation stop running". I have tried several time but failed. Also, would like to know why always need to have wifi access in order to upgrade the version of iPad iOS, why not 3G ?

    When I try to upgrade and install to iOS 5.1, error message prompt "operation stop running". I have tried several time but failed. Also, would like to know why always need to have wifi access in order to upgrade the version of iPad iOS, what is the purpose of 3G then? This is really nonsense using wifi + 3G iPad. need help ! Thanks.

    The file is too large to download via 3G. There is a 20MB limit with 3G. The purpose of having 3G is that you have internet access everywhere and do not need to be near a WiFi hotspot or network.
    Not every single thing that you do every single minute of the day on the iPad involves downloading files larger than 20MB. You can surf the internet all day long sitting out in a park somewhere with 3G - but not with a WiFi only iPad - unless you use a hotspot with it.
    Try turning off your firewall and anti virus software while you try to download the iOS update.
