I've been trying to install itunes 9 on windows vista system. During the install, it says "error occurred during installation of assembly policy 8.0.microsoft.vc80.CRT, version 8.0.50727.403 type win 32 policy public key token=1fc8b3b901e18e3bprocess architecture=x86 Quicktime installs OK, but Itunes install is interruped -- Apple Support install portion is rolled back after this error pops up. I went thru suggested Apple troubleshooting options, got same error. Ran install as administrator from desktop, also did not work. Tried installing both thru apple software updater and directly from Apple website -- still get error. I am also having trouble downloading new updates for my computer, has anyoone exp this?? I am so frustrated, I have a new nano and can't use it

    Interesting.
Okay, let's try some general principles troubleshooting with this one, then.
    (1) Do you currently have a copy of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed on that PC? If so, try downloading the following security update:
[Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-4 0ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en#filelist]
Does iTunes install for you after applying that update?
    (2) If no joy there, head into your Windows Update and click on the Update History. Have a lot of Updates also been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the entries for the failed updates to bring up more information on each. What error codes appear for you for the failed updates? (Precise spelling, please.)

    Can someone please Help?

I found htis other post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3401328?start=0&tstart=0
I also found this in another post
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

  • Trying to install itunes on windows vista and get the following error message:

Trying to install itunes on windows vista and get the following error message: An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKey Token="1fc8b3b9a1e3b",process orArchitecture="x86"". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070424.

A broken Windows Modules Installer then. It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:
Windows Update Error 80070424 in Vista
Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:
    Windows Update error 8000FFFF
If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time?

  • Trying to repair iTunes on Windows Vista will not allow to do so except to uninstall it

Trying to repair iTunes on Windows Vista. Will not allow me to do it. I've followed the instruction to select the programme in control panel, the select 'repair', unfortunately, the only option available to me is 'uninstall.' Therefore, I tried to uninstall with a view to reinstalling the whole programme but it wouldn't let me do this either because the .msi file could not be found.
    Can anyone out there help??

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

In trying to download itunes 11, I keep getting the message, verfiy that you have access to parental advisory. When I click yes it continually re tries but doesn`t load. Any ideas ???
    Actual message
Error writing to file;C:\programs files(x86)\itunes.resourses\da.lproj\parentaladvisory.png. Verfiy that you have access to that directory.

Sorry I can't help but I do get the same error. Previous versions of iTunes on Win XP machine ran fine. I have uninstalled, rebooted, and tried a new install but still get the same error. I can access the directory via Windows Explorer so not sure why the error says it can't access the directory.
