Trying to download software driver for Novatel u727 mobile broadband card. Keeps saying that it can't be opened because it is from and unidentified developer and my security preferences only allow installation from the Mac App Store .. any suggestions?

Would it help to spend $20 and download the OS X Mountain Lion .. the link send directly from Novatel had Snow Leopard in it .. I haven't owned this laptop for long and have no clue what Mountain Lion or Snow Leopard is
Any help and suggestions would be appreciated

Snow Leopard (10.6) an Lion (10.7)  are names for two versions of Apple Operating Systems.  Change your System Preferences>Security & Privacy to 'Anywhere' and you should be able to install the driver.
Ciao.

I recently purchased adobe indesign I'm trying to download it but i'm getting a message that's saying “Install.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.

System Preferences / Security & Privacy / General tab.
Change the settings at the bottom half of the window.

  • It seems that the installer on the Mac App Store is still OS X 10.9.3

I downloaded the full installer app from the Mac App Store today.
The version written on the Information Column is 10.9.4.
However, I checked the md5 of the InstallESD.dmg only to find that it is the same as OS X 10.9.3's InstallESD.dmg.
Hence, it seems that the full installer app on the MAS now is still OS X 10.9.3.
Is there anyone who encountered the same problem?
Here is the screenshot of the md5.

Does the InstallESD.dmg contain everything that gets installed? I thought there were other packages that were external to the installESD?
Do you need to compare every file?
FileMerge in the developer tools does this visually.
    Or use find with md5…
    find "/Applications/Install OS X Mavericks.app" -type f -exec md5 {} \;
    # big list of md5's...
    You could just compare packages.
    find "/Applications/Install OS X Mavericks.app" -type f -name *.mpkg -exec md5 {} \;
I suspect the installer also downloads updates, but it's not clear if this is automated or if it is only done in software update after the install, it seems like the latter.
Also bear in mind lots of caching goes on with massive distribution systems like the App Store updates, you may want to give it a few hours (or days) to allow caches to be fully renewed, or try another network connection if possible, some ISP's can try to be aggressive about DNS or other caching.

  • I can't sign into the Mac App Store any more. Can anyone help?

When I click on Sign In nothing happens.  App Stores on my other devices are working fine.
This is the first time I've used the discussion forums so I hope I am going about this in the right way.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, JohnPaul2!
Try restarting the App Store. Just quit it and open it back up again and try it again. Then try purchasing a free app and sign in there.
Of course, you can also try the well-known "restart your computer" trick. Worked for me a month ago when this happened to me.

  • Bought iWork 09 physical disks; installed on MacBook Pro; App Store recognizes it.  Any way to download it to another Mac using the Mac App Store?

Hi.  I bough iWork 09 and installed it on my MacBook Pro.  When I launch the Mac App Store, it recognizes that Pages, Keynote and Numbers are all installed. Unfortunately, I've now lost the discs and I now want to install it on my Mac Pro. Is there any way to do this through the Mac App Store?
    Thanks..

No, only the version bought through the MAS is avaiable from the MAS for download to other Macs.

Assuming you are running OS X 10.6.6 or later (10.7.x Lion, 10.8.x Mountain Lion or 10.9.x Mavericks), go to the Apple Menu (top left-hand corner of the screen)>App Store and it should become clear from there.

  • Tried to open a file I created in Numbers a while ago which I modified on 11/4/13 and got a message that I needed a newer version of Numbers.  When I went to the Mac App Store it shows that the new version is already installed.  Any suggestions?

Tried to open a file I created in Numbers a while ago, which I modified on 11/4/13, and got a message that I needed a newer version of Numbers.  When I went to the Mac App Store it shows that the new version is already installed and there doesn't seem to be a way to reinstall it.  When I checked "About Numbers" on my MacBook it shows "Numbers '09 version 2.3".  Any suggestions as to how I can get the new version installed?

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

  • "Download the OS X Installer app from the Mac App Store" - where to find it? A search doesn't bring any result...

I want to create a bootable USB drive for Yosemite. The support site suggests to ""Download the OS X Installer app from the Mac App Store" prior the creation. But where to find it in the App store? Any search combination does not bring a meaningful result....
    Thanks guys.

Thanks Matt, understood. It was my fault, just simply thinking, there is an App called "Installer"

  • HT4481 i have purchased a APP from the app store in itunes, it s air nav pro and was downloaded on the the ipad. now i tried to log in in the mac app store and searched for the app but it does not recognize my purchaes ! any ideas? i dont want to buy it a

does anyone know what to do ?

The apps in the iTunes App Store are for iOS devices, iPhones, iPads, etc. The apps in the Mac App Store are for Macs. Apps for iOS devices do not run on Macs. Apps for Macs do not run on iOS devices. Your purchases in the iTunes App Store will never show up in the Purchases pane of the Mac App Store. They are two different versions of apps for two different operating systems. If a developer has developed a version for both platforms they must be purchased separately.

  • Trying to install new version of software from the Mac App Store

My iMac is running OS X 10.6.8
I purchase a copy of Swift Publisher 3.0.1 back in June of 2012.
I paid $19.99 U.S.D for this upgrade, then.
I just went to the Mac App Store to download a more recent version ( ver 3.5.5).
It is not coming up in the Mac App Store as an Update and appears as if I will pay another $19.99.
Is this what will happen? There is no indication on BeLight's web page about any update charges to any 3.x.x version of Swift Publiser,
When I click the buy button, it looks as though I am going to be charged for this, again. Nothing appears as an indication that this is just an update.
    WHat will happen?

    I solved it.
I, originally, download and installed the software under the Mac App Store when I was using OS X Mavericks.
I was getting all sorts of error messages from the Mac App Store under Snow Leopard.
I simply copied that version to my working OS X Snow Leopard disc and it is working fine, now.
Thank goodness for having multiple backups on three drives!
Whoo! Spent a good chunk of the day trying to figure this one out!

  • Error 100 trying to download an App from the Mac App Store

    Hi,
Every time I try to download an App from the Mac App Store I obtain a message that says that it has ocurred and error with the apple store (Error 100).
After that, i obtain a second message that says "Tour Apple ID has been deactivated".
I can not download any app to my new MacBook Air.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Martín

I found that this error occurred when trying to purchase Aperture via the new App Store. I had previously downloaded the trial version via the old Apple store and having it and its installed folders on my hard disk prevented the App store from letting me purchase.
So, if you have a trial version, trash it, and trash the related folders in your user Library and also the Aperture project folder (wherever you saved it), typically in the Pictures folder.
    Then try to purchase. Voila!

  • I have iwork downloaded from a cd, is there any way to make that show up as purchased on the mac app store

i want it to be recognized as purchased on the app store so i can download it on my other mac

No unfortunately the Mac App Store is a new purchase.
In compensation it is very cheap and you can install it on any of your Macs using the same Apple ID.
There is no need to switch yet, they are the same versions. Wait until their is a new version of Pages eg Pages '12 or '13 and then switch because that will be a new charge.
    Peter
btw You have installed your version from a DVD, downloading is something you do from the Internet.

You can change the settings in Security & Privacy to "Anywhere"...
That should work... as to whether the printer driver will work, that's another question.
    Good luck,

  • Unable to review apps ("to review this app, you must have purchased it from the Mac app store)

I've been having this problem since getting my iMac, about 6-8 months ago.
I can review apps for about 3-4 hours after buying them; sometimes for up to 12 hours.
Then it's as if I cross a magic, invisible, and powerfully frustrating barrier - whenever I try to review an app, I get a message saying 'to review this app, you must have purchased it from the Mac App Store.'
In many ways, the App Store is clearly aware that I HAVE purchased it from the Mac App Store. The button at the top of the screen - the one that would usually say 'purchase' - says 'installed.' I can DL updates. I can, for the first sprinkling of hours, provide (and edit) reviews. However, after this mysterious cutoff, the one thing I can't do is leave a review...
Mac App Store support have been well-intentioned, but utterly hopeless.
They started by suggesting I had an 'iTunes error -50', and that I delete / renew my network settings (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1811). I didn't have an iTunes error -50, and the fix didn't work.
They then suggested that I change my iTunes ID so that it was associated with a new email account. OK, right. Done that. Still no joy.
They then suggested that I sign out with my iTunes ID, and then sign back in again. Something which I'd already tried repeatedly, with no joy. (I've also tried deauthorising and reauthorising my computer - again with no joy).
    Any other thoughts greatly appreciated...

    Try this....
In App Store, go to Purchases (top menu). Find the app you want to review, make sure it is marked Installed. Then click on the app from that window. Now try to write a review. This worked for me, but it could also be something I ate.
