I need some assistance. I am trying to install turbo tax 2012. I have been using it for years. It says I need OS X 10.6 or newer. I currently have 10.4.11. There are not updates available. do I have to upgrade? or what other suggestions do you have?
What year, screen size, CPU speed is your iMac?
To run the H & R Block software, you need to upgrade your OS X to 10.5 Leopard.

You need to find a source for the original black retail install DVD disc.
Unfortunately, these are hard to come by and will be more expensive than Apple's original $129 U.S.D. price.

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...

Ok, I think we have been talking past each other or not really understanding what each other is talking about.
When you say you have 8 GB installed and 5.93 GB free, you must be referring to the memory, and I was interpreting this as hard drive storage space.
My copy of TT (Premier) says it needs 1 GB memory and 360 MB storage space...so yours should be similar depending the edition you are using.
The hard drive storage space should not be an issue unless you have your hard drive completely full so we will ignore that.
Now TT wants to see 1 GB of memory available, but for some reason is not recognizing the 5.93 GB you report as available. So, go to Finder > Applications > Utilities (may be Other on some systems) > Activity Monitor and double click to open. Click the button top center of the window for memory and see what the numbers are in the lower portion of the window. The Wired, Active and Inactive should add up to the Used amount. Which then leaves the Free number (mine says 5.85 GB at the moment) using only Safari and Activity Monitor and the Mac OS X stuff.
Keep Activity Monitor open and reinsert the TT DVD and try to install, since that is what you said was not working. As a sanity check: do you have Mac OS X 10.6.8 as your equipment says you have? TT has to see at least that Mac OS X version. -

What is your operating system? If it is Windows 7 or 8.1 then you need to login on your machine as Administrator or a user with Administrator privileges.
Generally, any first account created on a new system is always a user with Administrator privileges so if you have two or more accounts then use the account that was created first. This means, you might need to provide a password to login.
Administrator account on a windows system is a very powerful account in that it allows to make changes to the system and do updates and all that.

New iPod Touch devices require a minimum of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 in addition to a fairly recent version of iTunes. If you are running Tiger (10.4) or earlier, you can't just update to Leopard for free; you have to buy it.

It's a Red box with a Policeman on it, saying this is a reported attack site and says I need to install a Firefox update. I immediately close my History on Firefox, and then close the browser. Don't install the update it says I need to, since Red usually means STOP. Have gone to the Firefox website to see about new updates. Should I go ahead and install the update?

Confused: You say nothing will "catch" in the slot, which I take to mean the optical drive won't accept anything. Just spits it out. Then you say you thought there was an eject button to push, which would imply there's a stuck disc inside.
If it's the latter, try holding down the mouse while booting.

Hold the Option key down and restart. Select one of the drives that comes up and hit the Return key.

These steps should resolve the issue on your Mac:
Double-click on the link for Uninstall Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 at Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.
Check if the Install link is now available in the Adobe Application Manager.
If not, install and run the Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove any traces of Premiere Pro. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html.
The Install link should now be available in the Adobe Application Manager. -
I am trying to install my business licensed CS4 that is working on current mac to new, but it's saying the license is not valid. I am now on creative cloud, but need CS4 because there's a plug in that only works with that. Please help. I do not want to deactivate the current running one as I need to make sure it works with the plug in on the new mac. Besides, aren't you allowed to install it on more than one machine, as long as only one is running?

You cannot install CS2 on a new Mac Mini running OS X Yosemite. CS2 is far too old.
CS2 was written for older PowerPC based Macs running OS 10.3.8 or earlier.
Modern Macs use Intel processors which are not compatible with PowerPC software.
Furthermore, Yosemite no longer includes Rosetta (a utility formerly included - but long discontinued - by Apple in OS X to run PowerPC applications on Intel Macs).
You'll either have to buy a new full version of CS6 or join the Cloud.
