TRYING TO PRINT ROLODEX CARDS FROM ADDRESS BOOK

HELP PLEASE,
I AM TRYING TO PRINT A LIST FORM ON AVERY 5386 ROLODEX CARDS AND I SIMPLY CAN NOT CONFIGURE THE SETTING TO WORK. I CAN GE THE MAILING LABELS PRINTED BUT NOT ALL THE LIST INFO I NEED. ANY IDEAS.

I worked on this some more and figured out how to get my files into Word and hence onto the Rolodex cards:
*under Preferences in Address Book choose Vcard, change to 2.1 and keep Western text
*export chosen cards to desktop from File dropdown (remember to return your Preferences Vcard setting to 3.0)
*Open Word
*choose open document and import Vcard file, you get a long list which you will then have to modify (I put returns for the Begin Vcard text to seperate cards), choose the lines you want printed, format text, size, etc
*following rolodex printer card instructions you can merge your formated data and print!
Yay, finally. Why doesn't Apple allow this simple type of programability, even labels have been a chore for me.

  • Printing Avery Cards From Address Book

This topic was raised in 2006 and left unanswered and archived.
My wife won't use Address Book ( computer-challenged-she can't even open Mail--so it's set up to start each morning), and insists on using small Avery Rotary Cards (#5385) for names/phone numbers.
So, to make my life easier, I want to print out the Address Book on Avery Cards. I have followed instructions about selecting cards > printing labels/envelopes and I can get to the point of printing Avery labels, but #5385 isn't in the list as it's a card, and none of the previews show that any Avery label will include the telephone number, which is one of the main purposes of paper rotary cards in a rolodex.
How can I do it? (iMac iSight G5 (PowerPC), OS 10.4.11, address book 4.0.6)
    thanks

See if this Avery software (freeware) will do what you want.

  • Adding my card from Address book

Does anyone know how to add My Card from Address book to my signature everytime you send an email from mail? I'm migrating from Windows and outlook.

When creating a signature you can drag n drop your vcard onto the window.
Mail--> preferences--> signatures click the + sign create your signature and drag n drop your vcard.
Then from the drop down menu at the bottom of the signature windon choose your default signature.
Then it will add that file every time you add your signature to your message.

  • Drag card from Address Book adds a row?

I have a small table in an estimating spreadsheet into which I can drag a card from AddressBook.app. That populates the table with name, address, etc., providing info that is picked up elsewhere in the file. In my old template, this worked fine. But I must have changed something (or perhaps it's just the new Numbers '09 update) because now when I drag a card, Numbers inserts a new row to hold the card's info, pushing everything on the page down to make room.
Does anyone know why it's doing this, and how I can turn that "feature" off? Thanks!

More on this subject: As a test, I dragged a single V-card from Address Book into a blank area of a spreadsheet. As it's supposed to, Numbers created a table with all the card's information.
I then deleted the data but left the header row exactly as Numbers created it. Then I dragged the same V-card back onto the now-blank cells. This time, it added TWO new rows. One above the data and one below.
Weird behavior, eh? Anyone else seeing this kind of thing happening?

  • Is it possible to print a 3 x 5 card from address book?

I have been trying to print 3x5 cards identical to the on screen card in my address book program. I am using Leopard on my new IMac. When I try, I get only some of the fields showing up even though I chose all the fields and numbers are always printed vertically, no matter whether I choose to print letter format or landscape. I spoke to someone at Apple, and they were no help.
    Thank you,
    sophie

    sophie,
You must have made a wrong turn somewhere. This is the Pages discussion group. You'll want to ask your question in the Address Book group.

  • Printing "child" names from Address Book on address labels

When I put selected "child" names on Address Books entries and try to print address labels including the kid's names, they don't appear. Example: I add "Jim" as a child name to an Address Book entry for Mike Jones. I try to print the Address Label: Mike Jones and Jim. Jim will not print. "JI" will print. "Jimm" will print. Anybody else have this problem? What's going on?

    From another thread:
If you have a spouse or child listed on contact card it will print them all on the mailing label IF the first name of each person is unique to your entire address book. For example, if the contact is John Brown and the spouse is listed as Susan Brown and the child is listed as Chester Brown, the expectation is that the label would print as:
    John, Susan and Chester Brown
This assumes that there are no other contacts in your address book with the first name of Susan or Chester. However, if, for example, you have another person in your contact list named Susan (the last name could be anything), Address Book will print:
    John and Chester Brown
This is because Address Book looks at all the first names in your contact list and if it sees a first name that is also listed in one of the spouse or child fields then it looks to see if the the other contact shares the same address as the contact you are trying to print. If the address is the same, then it prints properly on the label. If not, then it doesn't print on the label. So if you have two Susans - Susan Anderson and Susan Brown - Address book looks at the address on each card and determines that Susan Brown has the same address as the contact you are trying to print (John Brown) and therefore prints her name on the label.
So, to make a long story short, if you want consistent and predictable results when printing your labels you should assign a unique card to each person that you want to appear on the label and make sure that the individual cards have the same address listed on each. So, in the above example, there would be a card for John Brown, a card for Susan Brown, and a card for Chester Brown. On John Brown's card, Susan Brown would be listed as spouse and Chester Brown would be listed as child. Print John Brown's card and you should get:
    John, Susan and Chester Brown
Although this makes logical sense, it's not incredibly intuitive and not very well documented by Apple. I was hoping they would enhance Address Book in Leopard since this seems like a feature that a lot of people would use around this time of year. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time around.

  • Printing multiple envelopes from address book with Lion

I am having trouble getting envelopes to print properly from Address Book in Lion.  I have specified size #10 envelopes.  When I print them, the text printed on successive envelopes moves further and further down the page until the address drops off of one envelope and is then printed at the top of the next envelope.  If I print to PDF, I see the same behavior.  I have an HP Photosmart Premium printer.  I didn't have this problem before I upgraded to Lion, and all my settings are the same as they were prior to the upgrade.  I have seen that other users have the same problem on the forums, but there isn't a clear cut answer to how to solve the problem anywhere.  I also tried using the easy envelopes widget, and I still have the creeping further down the envelope problem.  HELP!!!

It seems to be a bug in Lion. Try the solutions provided in other disucssions about changing print size and orientation. Create a custom size and save it. You should be able to test it by printing to pdf first to check it. That way you won't have to waste paper.

  • Printing Mailing Labels from Address Book

Stupid question, but one that is driving me crazy.
How do you print a sheet of mailing labels from Address Book but when the entire sheet of labels is the SAME label?
I can print labels successfully in address book, can select the label type and number, etc.
However, when I select a single contact, I can't find a way to print up an entire sheet of labels (e.g. 14) of all the same contact - it only prints one label of the single contact.
Please help! I know it must be a simple fix but can't find it anywhere to select as an option.

OK, weird that this morning (one day after you posted this question) I had the same question. I just want to print some return address labels for my own company. While I haven't been able to find a software based way to do it, I did think up a workable (if a bit ridiculous) hack. Copy the address you want to fill the sheet of labels with however many times there are labels on the sheet and select those however many copies and click print! I created 30 copies of my own company's address in Address Book, selected them, and printed a sheet of labels without problem. A bit dumb, but it works!
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I permanently remove cards from Address Book that syncs to iCloud?

I've tried deleting the cards from my desktop version, but when it resyncs with iCloud they all reappear.

I have this problem too. Tried Csound1's suggestion, but it shows me that there is only 1 contact in iCloud, mine! Trying to edit that in iCloud also doesn't work. Tried to remove duplicate email addresses but as soon as I click done, they return
I just  don't understand what's happened to the Address Book I used to have when I was using previous systems.
This is very confusing, are you saying that on the iCloud website, in Contacts there is only 1 card? yes or no please and refer to the website only

  • Rolodex Cards in Address Book?

Oops... accidentally posted in OS 10.5. Posting here also.
Realize I could be called a dinosaur -- but like to have my Rolodex (instead of bulky, messy, ink-jet printed Address Book) and being tied all the time to electronics. However, don't see an option for printing to Rolodex card paper. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? I could make as labels, but then it doesn't let me pick what fields I want to print (only name / address).
Thanks in advance for some help. Nancy

Thanks so much. However, what I'd like to do is to print out on the Avery rolodex cards made for printers (full sheets). My husband has a business and single pages in an address book get REALLY messy and aren't as quick to find numbers -- and he's not into all the PDAs and such (not that into gadgets).
I hope Apple sees this and adds a feature to print on whatever paper you choose, or to import at least into a Word Processing software or something to have the ability to print on whatever paper.
    Anyone have any other ideas?

  • Print Mailing Labels from Address Book

After following the convoluted rules for Address Book, I finally got my Leopard computer to print Mailing Labels with proper relationships displayed. I upgraded to Snow Leopard and now this is all broken again.
I read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3952 which describes the changes made to Snow Leopard, however for anyone who already put in a lot of work to get labels working correctly for Leopard (or Tiger), this is a major set back.
Not only that, the Snow Leopard method for printing labels breaks so many other uses of Address Book. I will name a few:
    iPhone:
I sync my address book with my iPhone. My buddy calls, now instead of "Bob Smith" displayed on my iPhone, I will see "Bob & Jean Smith" even though the call is from Bob's cell phone....all because I followed the new 10.6 rules to get proper labels printed by 'hacking' the first name field and changing "Bob" to "Bob & Jean".
    Mail:
When I receive and email from Bob, instead of it saying "Bob Smith <[email protected]>" it will display: "Bob & Jean Smith <[email protected]>"
I'm sure there are other examples of how this change will break other apps.
    Solution:
Apple should add a Print option to Address Book with a backwards compatibility checkbox that will include relationships with matching addresses to support 10.4 - 10.5.8 address book printing usage.
If you agree that Apple should add this Print option to add back support for relationship printing, add your voice to this thread, as well as post a bug report to Apple with similar contents.

A vote here for a checkbox in preferences to "include related names," allowing for 10.5 style behavior.

  • Dragging card from Address Book adds a row?

I have a small table onto which I can drag client info from their Address Book card. This automatically populates other fields throughout my worksheet with the correct information.
But when I do this, Numbers adds a new row to the bottom of that little table, which pushes other tables down the page. It did not used to behave this way, but I don't know what changed.
Is it possible to lock the number of rows in a particular table?
Or is there another way to make this work without Numbers adding a new row each time?
    Thanks.

Thank you, Yvan. There is a blank row available into which I'm dragging the V-card. That's why I'm surprised it's adding a new one. I have checked to make sure it's actually blank, too. I can't see any content there at all. In my tests (if you check the link above) you'll see that I even created a completely new table in which to test this. And got the same (or weirder) results.

  • Unable to export v-card from Address Book

After installation of OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this issue? Thanks.

There is an addon which can help.
    MoreFunctionsForAddressBook.
    * https://freeshell.de/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html
Download file to desktop or downloads file.
    In Thunderbird
    Tools > Addons
    or
    Menu icon > addons
click on gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file'
locate the file you downloaded and click on Open
You will need to restart Thunderbird at prompt.
    In 'Address Book'
right click on contact in list and select 'Send as vcard'.
If you want to add more than one vcard:
Press Ctrl key and select contacts to highlight, then right click on highlighted contacts and select Send as vcard'.
This opens a new Write message with that contact(s) added as vcard attachment(s).
There is also the option from the 'Contacts Sidebar' in a new Write window, but I'm not having any success from this method at this moment...maybe it will work for others...perhaps due to a bug, but I've reported it the author. At least it still works via Address Book.

  • Printing long notes from address book.

My notes in my addresses can be two or three pages long. For some reason when I print an address, using the LIST style, only what fits in the first printed page appears and the rest does not get printed. Any idea?
