Trying To Switch To BT - Horrendous Customer Servi...

Apologies in advance for the following wall of text but I'm really at the end of my tether with BT now. I've been trying to complete an order over the last couple of days (before the promotional period ends) and due to a website error I've been unable to do so and I'm genuinely tired of being passed around by the Sales and/or Customer Services team with no resolution.
To start off with I'm a Sky customer looking to switch to BT. I looked on the BT products site, checked the availability for my number and postcode and I'm eligible for Infinity. I then found the package I was after (TV Entertainment + Unlimited Infinity 1) priced at £23 a month plus line rental.
I noticed that on the Money Supermarket website and uSwitch for example the package was available for £20 a month so naturally I decided to click through that offer onto the BT website. So far so good. However once onto the BT website and the online order form the bundle builder doesn't work correctly - there is no option for Infinity and you can't build the advertised bundle from the following link;

However if I access the same order form through BTs website without clicking through from an affiliate website the order form then works fine and I can choose Infinity and follow the order through - however of course this makes the package £23 a month then. I know £3 a month isn't a big deal but it is the principle of the matter.
I've spoken to two sales team agents through the online chats (I won't name them here publically). The first one on Sat/sun informed me that I was eligible for Infinity after checking my details again and after trying to set up an offer through the same link told me that there was an error on the order form and I should try again the next day.
So I've tried again today and to no surprise the same error still exists. This time instead of chatting with a sales team member I went directly to the BT Customer Help chat and once again explained the problem. He told me to start a chat with an online sales team or call the general enquiries helpline.
I started an online chat with another sales advisor and after a drawn out laborious explanation again she tried to set the order up before stating "I have have gone through the same process as you, unfortunately there is an error in the order form and you will need to contact customer services to arrange this deal." So she linked me to another chat back to the Customer Help. After briefly being told to wait one moment by another chat advisor I was then passed to a BT Broadband Technical help advisor who he couldn't help and asked me for my BT account number! He concluded by saying general enquiries might help. It's all very well ringing up but I can't paste a link over the phone to demonstrate the issue.
I've genuinely ran out of patience. I'm here ready to hand my money over and yet I can't do it - I'd love to take out a package but I now find myself looking at TalkTalk & Virgin instead. It seems now that the offer ends in just over a day and BT will lose a potential customer. I wonder how many people have tried the same and have just thought they'll leave it and choose another provider?

Just thought I'd update this.
There are 4 hours left of the offer I was hoping to take and still no resolution.
I also emailed BT on Sunday 15th Feb and despite receiving an email with a reference number, I've still had no reply.
I've honestly never experienced this with any company before where you are wanting to buy their product and yet can't do so. I would have thought they would be incredibly eager to get more new customers on board, particularly when leaving a rival like Sky.
I've lost count of the number of BT representatives I've spoken too.
Anyway thanks for the offer of help on this forum (you guys are great!) but maybe this is a blessing in disguise - if this is how they deal with new customers I dread to think what should happen as a BT customer if you have an issue!

    If it's a hardware problem, then the phone will need to be replaced.
    There is no magic that can fix a hardware problem.

  • Trying to switch from JDBC URL - JDBC DataSource

    I have built and run a JHeadstart 10.1.2 application using JDBC URL defined database connections.
    I am now trying to switch to use JDBC DataSource definitions to make the database connection independant from the application so that the same ear file can be deployed to different application servers (dev vs test environments).
    I have tried changing the Connection Type of the Business Component:
    Configurations > Edit > Connection Type
    from the previously defined JDBC URL to a JDBC Datasource defined within the embedded OC4j Application server. After making the change, rebuilding and restarting the server it still retrieves information from the previously defined URL.
    Is there something I need to regenerate/rebuild/reconfigure?

    I've seen that article. It's quite detailed and certainly helped until I ran into a VerifyError something like:

    I couldn't run the application in a standalone instance of oc4j 9.0.4 even after following the deployment instructions found in this and other posts. It wasn't until I came upon a JavaWorld article from 2001 about VerifyError...

    I added -noverify to the startup arguments and the application ran fine.
    I admit I am a little concerned that I need to run without jar verification. Have you seen this before? Is there another way to deal with this?

  • Can't switch the primary outgoing mail server for Gmail?

    I recently got an iPad and went to set up my two Gmail accounts exactly how I have them set up on my iPhone: Gmail Account #1 is my original one, and Gmail Account #2 was linked to it later to utilize its outgoing server (so messages sent from #1 look like they're coming from #2).
    On the iPhone, I switched off #1's primary outgoing server and selected #2's. Very simple, very easy.
    But on the iPad, when I go to switch off #1's outgoing server, the only option I have available afterwards is to click 'Cancel' - it won't let me turn it off and select another one!
    The problem seems exclusive to Gmail, as my Yahoo account doesn't have this issue.
    I have a feeling it's an iOS7 glich... I have iOS7 on the iPad, but not on my iPhone. Everything else is set up exactly the same between the two devices. I've tried deleting both accounts and re-activiating, I've tried manually setting them up instead of using Apple's pre-selected system... nothings seems to work.
    Anyone?

    The issue isn't getting the accounts online - both accounts are added and working. The issue is that Gmail forces me to use the primary outgoing server for their respective accounts - I can't switch it off and select another from that drop-down list like I can with my iPhone.
    I am able to switch ON the outgoing server for #2, but the problem is that when I slide the primary server to "off" - the "DONE" button in the top right remains gray and unclickable. Strangely this is not the case for Yahoo - I can select an outgoing server on that account at will.

  • Trying to switch to kde but...

    So I'm trying to switch to kde not because I dislike gnome but because I'm curious about kde.  So far I've had a few issues that keep me going back to gnome where I haven't even had to deal with this problems.
    I have a Thinkpad X201 which is a small laptop (12.1 inch screen).  When I get to work I dock and close the lid and use a 21 inch screen.  The laptop screen is off.  When I un-dock it, it seamlessly switches back to the laptop screen.  I didn't have to do anything to get this to work in gnome other than set it up under the display settings.  KDE, I have to configure it on each boot, and it seems a little buggy sometimes (as in it doesn't do the same thing each time even though I go through the same proceedure, like the laptop monitor says even when I say to disable it, until I re-enable it and disable it a second time).  It doesn't always happen but it does sometimes.  I know I can default it to one setting but when I un-dock it or reboot it with the external monitor as default it doesn't go back to the laptop display like gnome does (which mean I don't get a screen on my laptop to switch it back to the laptop).  I went through the intel/xorg/kde wiki's and either I missed it or it doesn't really say anything about my situation.  I saw the multi-monitor settings for xorg and tried it but it did nothing.
    This alone make kde not an option as I'm constantly going back and forth from docked to un-docked and can't keep manually switching display settings.
    Also, I tried my vm's in virtualbox and it complained as I started the vm that it was configured for 32 color but that kde is set to 24 bit.  I see no settings to change it in kde and forcing it with an xorg config file does not take.  How do I change it to 32bit color?
    Some of the other quirks I can sort of deal with (clock size, qt/gtk integration, others) but those above will keep me gnome until they can be solved.

    The problem I'm having is more extreme than yours but possibly related. (There's a thread here somewhere and a forum thread on the KDE site.) I need to sit down and try to recreate the issue in my office.
    Apart from the configure-every-time on connect and configure-twice on disconnect, I also tend to find I lose all display on disconnect (not immediately but shortly after). Either ll display for X or all display period.
    It is probably the biggest issue I have right now (apart from the new kernels - but the lts one works great).

    If Disk Warrior does not work you can try the following steps (but they may not work if the disk has a hardware error).
    Get the disk (DVD or CD) that came with the system (since you have it listed as 10.6.8).  If it is 10.7 or 10.8 use the Recovery partition to boot from or the USB installer if you have that option.
    Insert the disk then power down
    HOLDING the C key, power up to boot from the disc.
    Get to Disk Utility
    If Disk Utility will now show your hard drive, use DU to REPAIR the disk.
    When it completes the Repair process successfully as indicated in DU, do a shut down.  If Repair is not successful then an different course of action is indicated below.
    Then HOLDING THE APPLE (or Command key depending on your keyboard) KEY AND THE OPTION KEY AND THE LETTER P AND R KEYS, continue hiolding them until you hear the chime tone for the THIRD time then release all four keys.
    If REPAIR is not successful, use the Install disc as a boot and REINSTALL THE OS X OPERATING SYSTEM  DO NOT ERASE THE DISK OR VOLUME FIRST.  REPEAT DO NOT erase the disk or volume before trying to reinstall the OS X operating system.  After re-installing the OS do a software update.  Note that ERASING the disk is NOT required to do an OS re-install.  This allows your existing data and application files to remain.
    If that fails then you are down to the "bitter end" of erasing the volume and reinstalling the OS and then all the other software.
    If erasing the Volume fails then your last hope is to completely erase the entire hard drive, repartion the disk  and try a re-install.
    If that fasils then you may have a defective hard disk.

    You cannot merge Apple IDs but you can go to Settings > iCloud and 'Delete Account'.  When prompted to turn off documents and data, choose the only option which is Delete from my iPhone, but on the other prompt for Contacts, Calendars, etc you can choose 'Keep on my iPhone'  Then once the Account is Deleted form the iPhone, log back in with the correct Apple ID and choose Merge when prompted.  This will merge your data from this iPhone with that iCloud account effectively putting your devices on the same account.

    When we want to create a template of a virtual machine, we receive the following error. The environment has the following components and servers:
    * Windows Server 2012 R2 U1 with Hyper-V role enabled
    * High available Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 RU2 (two virtual servers on Hyper-V 2012 R2)
    * High available Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 Library servers (two virtual servers on Hyper-V 2012 R2)
    There're a few things I've already checked:
    * Self-signed certificates in the Trusted People store --> OK
    * Windows Firewall turn off --> OK
    * Re-added a Hyper-V host to the SCVMM environment
    * Reboot the VMM servers and the library servers
    * Export port usage and conflicts with netstat -a -b --> OK, no conflicts
    * Free disk space on the VMM library servers --> OK
    The job is starts fine, but step 1.2 "Store virtual machine W2012R2TMPL from HV01 to CLSCVMMLIB01" Failed. So it looks like the sysprep fase is going well. When VMM is trying to store the virtual machine in the library, it fails.
    Who is familar with this issue and can help me find a solution for this?

    The general policy of Oracle is very simple:
    it certifies against the current version of the OS.
    It never re-certifies against new releases of the OS.
    Windows 2008 didn't exist when Oracle 9i was released.

  • Why is Mail trying to connect to an unknown mail server (and how do I stop it)?

    Hi - I'm worried that someone has hacked into my system so that it tries to connect to a fake mail server (perhaps to send spam)? I usually have the activity window open when Mail is running, and noticed that it was trying to connect to an unfamiliar mail server the other day - it was shown as an IP address whereas all the mail servers in my mail accounts have names rather than IP addresses ... so I copied the IP address down and searched for it (196.201.4.6), to find that it is run by malawi.net ... in Africa. I recently upgraded to Mac OS Lion, so initially I had figured that it was showing the mail server address differently, but I couldn't think of any reason that my email servers would be in Malawi!
    By now I was getting worried: I checked all my mail accounts to be sure that something had not changed, and confirmed that none of my accounts used this mail server (or mentioned the IP address); and confirmed that the "Connecting to server "196.201.4.6"" activity message only appeared when I first reconnected to the internet (i.e. now when I manually clicked on "get mail") ... which suggests to me that it is a hidden process somewhere?
    I don't have a virus checker, but downloaded ClamXav and ran a check on my user folders ... but found nothing.
    Any thoughts on what this might be, or - if it is something malicious or externally controlled - how I can remove it?

    Hi - "display remote images in HTML messages" was already deselected, so I don't think it was an HTML message connecting.
    But your response made me wonder about whether it was something else in an old email that was causing the problem - I had a search and found some emails from back in 2006 (when I did some work in Malawi for CARE) that were from the mail server (mailer.malawi.net = 196.201.4.6) that has been appearing. However, I still don't understand why (six years later) Mail is now trying to connect to this server ... I'm pretty sure that it never used to happen (and I have been a full-time Mac user since 2003), as I always have the activity window open and would have noticed, so it is only since I upgraded to Lion last week that it started. Any thoughts? I could delete/archive the old emails, but I would really like to understand what is happening?

My PC died this summer (I still have it though).
    Now when syncing any of the multiple devices (ipods,ipads, iphones) that we have with my mac book, itunes states that "an error occurred" or the "app cannot be found".  Itunes wants me to erase the device and sync with my macbook. The message "The iPhone “Renee’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library on “Renee PC”. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."appears.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    u can give try to using external enclosre and backup ur files. I hope u will get files back. or using external enclosre with ur hdd boot into Linux and try to mount ur harddisk.
    there are multiple no of tutorial to mount apple partion in Linux.
