Trying to transfer songs from playlist
The songs aren't in iTunes anymore but still on a playlist under my iPod. Why or how can I transfer them to another or existing playlist on iTunes or a new apple device like an iPhone?
*Recover media from iPod*
See this post from Zevoneer for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.

Some of the tools are able to extract playlists as well as media.

Trying to transfer songs from MacBook Pro to iMac
I'm trying to transfer songs from my MacBook Pro to my new iMac. I want to just copy and transfer the songs to the iMac. What is the easiest and fastest way to do this process? The thing is I still want to be able to play the songs still in my MBP and is it possible to sync to both iMac and MBP?
akl8806,
If you have a 6-pin male-to-male Firewire cable the easiest way is target disk mode.
Start up your MBP holding down the "T" key until you see the firewire logo.
Connect the Firewire cable to the MBP and then the iMac.
The MBP will show up as a external hard drive on the iMac. Go to MBP's Drive/Users/Your username/Music/
Copy the iTunes Library to the same place on your iMac's drive.
Hope this helps,

I'm trying to transfer songs from an old ipod that I recently found onto a new iphone, but they are on different itunes accounts as well as different computers. Is this possible? Help please!
I called the help number and the lady said she would have to charge me $29 to do so, but that there are other ways that are free that someone may be able to help me with.
ElizabethThe ipod was on an account my mom had made for me when I was younger. The iphone is under an account I made.
Thanks! -

Trying to transfer songs from PC to Mac using home sharing.
I just bought a new Mac and am trying to get my songs from the PC to the Mac. I managed to transfer the songs using Home Sharing, but, when I tried to add the songs to my Library in iTunes, any songs that were not purchased on iTunes (burned from a CD, etc) are greyed out, will not play, will not delete. What gives? Is Apple trying to make me buy my entire library on iTunes?
I'm trying to get these songs to my Mac so I can wipe the music on my iPhone (which was linked to my PC) and manage the music on my Mac. It doesn't seem I'm able to do that either. Does this have something to do with the PC.
THANKS!When using home sharing you must use the same Apple ID on both machines. It does not mattter what apple id the machine uses to login to iTunes with.
Then you can click on the orange house icon in Shared in the left sidebar of itunes. Select what to import and click import at the bottom right

Trying to transfer songs from iPhone to my iTunes. Help!
I had iTunes with lots of songs and all of the songs are on my iPhone. Last week my computer crashed and I had to replace my hard-drive and memory, so I lost all of my music. I am trying to get all of my music back onto my computer and into iTunes. Some of the music was directly purchased from the iTunes store and I was able to transfer those into my iTunes library. But most of my music was burnt onto a CD and transferred to iTunes. When I try to sync my iPhone it says that is only able to sync with one iTunes at a time (i wasn't able to deauthorize my last iTunes due to computer failure) and that if I sync with this new iTunes I just downloaded it would erase everything on my iPhone and replace it with my new iTunes library. All of the music is on my iPhone and not in my iTunes and if I did this it would erase everything. Is there a way to get the songs that I did not purchase from the iTunes store onto my computer from my iPhone without losing any music??
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod/iPhone. However there are couple of third party utilities for retrieving content that are advertised as iPhone compatible:
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible) -
Trying to transfer songs from ipod to mac
I have an Ipod touch that is my bf's, his ex was the primary user and the account info is all her. I do not have itunes password. We don't care about apps, and i would like to reset with his info, but there are over 1,200 songs and most are not itunes purchases. How can i get them off the ipod and onto my mac? when i try and transfer it tells me my computer isn't authorized to her account and i can not transfer only 76 items and that is fine, but when i hit cancel it ends transfer.
thanksThe music sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The ONLY exception is itunes purchases.
If this music belongs to his ex, then it is not yours at all and it would be illegal to take the music from it. -
My daughter received an ipod classic and loade4d some songs onto it from another itunes acct/computer. She also now has a new ipod touch and wants to transfer the songs, but I can't get it to share or add to iyunes librabry?
You need a 3rd party software to copy the iPod data to your PC, iTunes, then sync iTunes to the Touch.

Tried to transfer songs from one computer to another and lost most of them
I had iTunes installed on one computer but the program was removed so I reinstalled it on another computer and thought that the songs on my iPod would automatically be uploaded into iTunes. There was a screen that popped up that asked if I wanted to replace the existing playlist from the old computer with the new libray. I mistakenly selected yes and now all of the songs I had on my iPod are now gone. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get those back somehow? Help me please!
Dell Very ImportantPressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in iTunes unfortunately does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased your iPod as there were no songs to replace yours with. There are some data recovery programs on the market but I don't know how technically or cost effective they are. Here's an example I found using Google : iPod Data Recovery

The iTunes library says I do not own them and they can not be found on my iPod. But I can still see and play the songs on the ipod. But when I try to sync them they do not appear.
It is not possible to sync music directly between an iPod and an iPhone. The music must be in an iTunes library and that must be used to sync the music to each device.

How to transfer songs from ipod to library
I am trying to transfer songs from my old ipod to my library and get them on a new ipod. How do I do this? I am so confused
If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod2PC Windows Only
iDump Windows Only
YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide -

I am trying to transfer songs from old laptop iTunes lib to new laptop iTunes Lib. Got as far as sharing and can listen. There is no "Show Menu" at the bottom of the iTunes window to choose "Items not in my library." I did the following steps as indicated by iTunes Help:
1) Turned on Homesharing on both computers - No problem
2)Chose the computer to be used from the Library Pop Up Menu
3) Chose a category (I chose Music) from the old Laptop Library
The next steps are:
4) In the Show menu at the bottom of the iTunes window, choose “Items not in my library.”
5) Select the items you want to import, and click Import.
BUT THERE IS NO "SHOW MENU" AT THE BOTTOM OF MY iTUNES WINDOW!!!As long as you have not reloaded much (or any) new information to the iPod (or the PCs), the following links will direct you to software that has a chance of recovering some or all of your music files. Most are not shareware or freeware, so you may have to spend a little money.....
This PodSalvage software will only work with Macs running OS X. See the PodSalvage page at SubRosaSoft.com: http://www.subrosasoft.com/MacSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=2
This link will give you several 'Erased iPod' recovery resources for both Mac and Windows users:

Make sure you read through many of the posts on the iLounge – some folks had good results, others had poor results. There seems to be a split camp on the effectiveness of recovery programs.
Either way, strongly consider a backup strategy after you recover/replace your music: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=210939&messageID=1215125

How do you transfer songs from an iPhone to a computer
My laptop bit the dust so I had to replace it. I am trying to transfer songs from my iphone to the new laptop but the "sync" function only works in the other direction and would errase all the songs on my iphone. Any suggestions?
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use it to put everything back.

Ios7 music sync problems for iPhone 4S
