TS1363 Updated to iTunes to latest version 11.1.4.62 on my Windows 8 machine.  iTunes no longer recognizes my 5th Gen Ipod.  It does however recognize my 80gb Ipod Video.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as directed (twice) & rebooted pc. no luck.

I just updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 (as the pop up directed me to) on my Windows 8 machine. As a result iTunes will no longer recognize my 5th generation Ipod Nano (yes two).   I receive a pop up saying "Ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly"   I've followed the recommendations seveal times: a) disconnected and reconnected. b) rebooted computer c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes d) tried different cables e) tried different USB porst f) rebooted Ipod.... the window keeps popping up like a middle finger (you get the point)
iTUnes WILL however,  recognize my 4th gen Nano and my 80gb Video (classic) without problem
Needless to say, I'm frustrated and ticked off over all of this wasted time.
Anyone solved this issue yet?
Any good suggestions?
Please advise
Kindest regards,

c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

iphone 4 not recognized and will not sync after latest itunes update.  I have done recommendedl trouble shooting and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail. Can I go back to earlier version of itunes or restore computer to fix?

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes Version 11.4.1 and still cannot access. I continue to get the Error 7 Windows Error 193 and now I am getting the Apple Mobile Device failed to start. I can't access any of my music I HAVE PURCHASED. What  to do?

I am getting the same error message - error 7, Windows error 193 running iTunes on a PC Laptop (HP) which has been running iTunes previously for at least 2 years.
I followed the Apple support page and uninstalled (in order) all Apple programmes specified, rebooted, then re-installed.  Two additional errors crop up in re-installation, the first one is to do with Apple Mobile Support Device Services.  It seems that this might be rectified by plugging in said devices before finishing the re-install.  The second reads iTunesHelper was not installed correctly please re-install iTunes.  This persists. I cannot uninstall iTunesHelper using the Control Panel, but I can delete it using Windows.  However, after re-installing again, it still won't run and the original error comes back.  I've downloaded and uninstalled 15 times now and this is taking far too long to be acceptable.

  • When I sync my I phone 4 to my pc the pc goes into not responding mode. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes twice today to try and fix the issue with no luck

When I sync my iphone with my pc my pc goes non responsive and itunes acts like it is syncing but the syncing never completes and after a while I try to stop the sync to find that I have to go to the task manager to end the task. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes two or three times with the same results. Anyone else ever experience this?

I solved my own problem....I simply moved the cable to another port while moving the mouse to the USB ports on the opposite side of the computer....and the computr finally recognized the phone...I know it sounds weird but it worked...so if you are having the same problem that  had trying removing all the crap you have plugged into the USB ports on your computer THEN plug in your IPhone 4s...use the cable that came with the phone and nothing else...good luck..>!!!

  • TS1538 I have 2 ipod touches. One syncs just fine, the other is not recognized by itunes.  I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, reset the ipod touch to factory settings. Itunes still doesnt recognize one of my ipod touches

I have 2 ipod touches. One of the syncs with itunes just fine. The other isnt recognized by itunes. I reset the ipod to factory settings, and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, still no recognition.

    - Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? iOS 6 requires 10.5 or later. The current is 10.6.3
    - Have you tried a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - You could try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore the iPod. However, if you can't restore the iPod or use this program to get the iPod out of recovery mode
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
you will lose use of the iPod.
    - An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store might be in order.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I've been tring to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, but the upgrade installation always crashes.  Does anyone know if I will lose all of the music I have on my pc if I try to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes in Windows XP?  Alternatively can anyone tell me the folder where iTunes saves songs be default in Windows XP so that I could save them to a thumb drive before I do the uninstall?  Thanks.

Do you get an error message when you try to install iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • HT1923 HOW TO UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL ITUNES 10.6 FROM VISTA

I have tried everything......including Best Removal Tool with forced uninstall and I still cannot get all of the files off Vista so I can reinstal iTunes.  This problem started when I was told to download the latest version (10.6) of itunes.  It did not function properly after I did that and told me to uninstall and reinstall itunes.  Can anyone help me?

    Many thanks.
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:
Re: I recently updated to vista service pack 2 and I updated to itunes

  • HT1926 Routine update of iTunes failed. Eventually had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes x2. Installation failed with message 'Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

    Hi,
When I tried to install iTunes update this failed, then tried to uninstall and reinstall itunes twice. Failed again. Could not open iTunes. I use an HP PC. Even tried to disable Macafee firewall, still itunes failed to install. Please help!!

Followed these instructions with a few changes. (Windows 7 x64)
Uninstalled programs in the following order:
    - Itunes
    - Apple Application Support
    - Apple Software Update
    - Bonjour
    - Apple Mobile Device Support (uninstall failed due to Apple Mobile Device failure)***
    - Restarted System
    - Redownloaded Itunes from website.
    - Run installer as Administratot
    - Succefully installed
***To uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
    - Right clicked on Apple Mobile Device Support, Clicked Charge (second option), Repair, Next (failed to repari)
    - Right clicked the Apple Mobile Device Support in the Programs and Features window and clicked Repair (third option in drop down list). (repaired successfully)
    - Uninstall successful after the repair.
Below is a guess at a quicker solution:
Looking at the uninstalls, it may be worth trying to repair the Apple Mobile Device Support through the Program and Features window before trying to uninstall everything.  It may be a faster fix for the freezing service.  After the repair is successful the itunes update may work.
    Hope this helps.

  • Will uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes lose alll my iPod Touch data

My iPod touch 5 stopped responding.  I opened iTunes so I could restore it and got a message that  said I needed a newer version of iTunes.  I GOOFED and installed a new version instead of updating iTunes.  Now I can't open iTunes.  If I uninstall and reinstall iTunes will I lose all my data from my iPod?  Is ther a way to revert back to the older version of iTunes so I can then update the iTunes software?  I am using Windows XP on my computer.

  • HT1211 When uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes does not help in coverting movies

From the Advanced menu, choosing Create iPod or iPhone Version,"Converting..." did not appear.  Unstall and reinstall iTunes does not help. What else can i do to convert the movies so that i can download to my iphone?

See this on how to back up your music to removeable media, such as CD or DVD:
Backing up your music files in iTunes
It's a very good idea to do this, but know that uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes will not affect the music stored on your computer.

  • I have applied the "MSVCR80.dll" fixes (uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes), but I am still having problems.

I have applied the "MSVCR80.dll" fixes of uninstalling and reinstalling iTune in the proper order, several times, but I stall have a problem.  When I launch iTunes, my computer will freeze, task manger says that Itunes has stopped responding and the CPU reading in task manager pegs at 100% usage.  After about 10 minutes the iTunes start running again and the cpu drops back to normal.  I can get to the apple store without freezing.  However, iTune will not display my iPod or iPhone in the sidebar.  And when I plug th the iPod and iPhone into my desk computer I get a error meassage.
"This ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed.  Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install 64-bit version of iTunes"
This I have done three times with the same result.
    What next?

It froze on start up, then ran, did not see the plugged in iPod or iPhone, and gave me the same "this iPod cannot be used because..." message.
I also ran the iTune Diagnostic.  It said the the iPod Services " and "Apple Moblie Device" are not running.  So I followed the Help instructions (see Link  for AMD below)  For restarting "iPod Services" everything when per instructions, but it did not fix my iTune problems.   The "Apple Moblie Device" restart was a problem, because I could not find the AMD file in the Service folder.
Hmmm. Let's try swapping out your AMDS.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?
