  • Mac can't see wireless network - have checked other posts but no  solution!

I have scanned many posts on this topic but have not seen my specific problem resolved, so I'm starting a new post. Here's all the facts and things I've checked.
    Hardware Details
    iMac 1.25 GHz G4
Airport Extreme card (shows up in system profiler)
    Linksys 802.11g router
    Network Details
    WPA Personal
Have never had a problem using this network. 2 PC's an 2 Macs regularly connect. Right now one PC and my wife's MacBook Pro are using the network.
The iMac was seeing the network yesterday - today it can't even see it!
Per the advice from many helpful posters, I have checked that mac addressing is disabled on the router.
I have checked that appletalk is active on the iMac
I have restarted the iMac several times after applying various changes.
This is a very perplexing problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi kmacwilliam,
I am having a similar issues with yours, my MBP and MB couldnt not stay connect to the dlink router recently. But the PC's been working fine all the time. The wireless would drop and could not see the network again while my neighbours' networks were still displaying. Even restarting the MBP and router wont see my wireless network.
You can try these things and see if it works for you, it's worked for me for time being. Please post back the outcomes:
    1. Delete any airport-related passwords in the "Keychain" so no airport passwords are stored
    2. Shut down the iMac
    3. Reset the PMU in your case for the G4 iMac, you may need to open your back case to reset it
    3. Turn on your iMac and you should see the network again
I am suspecting this might be software issue, hope this works for you.

  • TS1398 My I pad is 14 motnhs old and previously worked fine on my home wireless network.  All other devices work fine, but now, my I pads capability (range) is greatly reduced.  Is there anything to check on the ipad for WIFI antenna strength?

My Ipad is 14 months old and previoulsy worked fine on my home wi fi network.  Recently the range is diminished but all other devices (ipods, ps) are working just fine.  Is there anything to check functionality of the wi fi antenna?  Has anyone has similar problems?  Unfortunately, the warranty expired 2 months ago.

  • [SOLVED] Can't load wireless network (MEDIATEK Corp. Device 7630)

Hi all, I hope that someone helps me, because I need it.
I'm trying so hard to install the wireless controller I have on a new computer.
I have just installed Arch with the UEFI method, it seems to work quite fine, except for the wireless.
The Computer is ASUS F550C, in order not to lose time, I'm posting the output of what I have tried.
I tried to install the kernel module (driver) with ndiswrapper, and they seem to be loaded.
    # lspci -k
03:00.0 Network controller: MEDIATEK Corp. Device 7630
Subsystem: Foxconn International, Inc. Device e074
    Kernel modules: ndiswrapper
    # iwconfig
    enp4s0f2 no wireless extensions.
    lo no wireless extensions.
I tried to load both network-manager, netctl via systemctl but it doesn't seem to work.
In the end of the day I noticed that the wifi led had been off all the time!
So I installed rfkill and executed:
    #rfkill unblock all
that's the only thing I could do to let the led turn on!
If you can suggest me something (whatever it may be) please answer, or I will be linked for eternity.

  • I can't access or send email through Thunderbird any longer (over a month) though I have checked settings and can access/send email via webmail and other device

My cable provider changed (buy out or something) about a year ago but left my email address alone.
Confirmed with the current carrier that my incoming/outgoing settings are correct and my email address doesn't need to be migrated.
When I click "Get Mail," nothing happens: no error message. It has been like this for a month.
I can check webmail, but it doesn't have my older emails or folders. I would love to get back on and spit everything out of Thunderbird. I did an internet search (including this forum) but haven't found anything useful.
    Thanks for any help.

  • How can i access my wireless network?

how can i access my wireless network at home?

Does your iPad see your WiFi network - Settings>WiFi>Tap your network name, enter your password and tap join.
If the iPad isn't seeing the network, try rebooting the router - unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.

  • TS1398 Can't join wireless network.  Get message saying "unable to join the network".  My wife's phone is connected so problem must be my phone - any ideas?

When trying to access my wireless network, get a message "unable to join the network".  I tried turning everything off and back on, reset phone, etc. (all of the suggestions under troubleshooting guide).  It was working until last night - it suddenly wasn't on anymore and then I couldn't get back on.  Any suggestions?

1- try updating your phone (If you can)
    2- try reebooting
3- (I know this sounds crazy but) put it in the freezer for a few hours.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

  • Need to configure Airport connection to access corporate wireless network

Need to configure Airport connection to access corporate wireless network.
Have imported my certificate from Windows XP machine into keychain and made Leopard always trust in order to authenticate automatically into my corporate wireless network. Also attempted to establish a new 802.1x connection via network preferences without any success. It keeps asking me for username and password even though we used self-generated certificates to log into corporate wireless network. Does anybody have any instructions on how to successfully configure certificates in Leopard?

Welcome to the discussion area, jackregan!
You'll need to "hard reset" the Time Capsule and then reconfigure it again. To do this, you will hold in the reset button until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly, keep holding another second or two and then release.
The "hard reset" will not affect the data on your Time Capsule
Now you can open AirPort Utility and configure the Time Capsule using wireless (be sure to log on to the default network which will have a name like Apple Network xxxxxx), or you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to have AirPort Utility communicate with it that way.
When you open AirPort Utility, click Continue to follow the guided setup to re-configure your Time Capsule. You would choose the option to "Create a wireless network" when you are given the configuration options.

  • I can see my wireless network, but my ipod4 will not let me connect to the network?

I can see my wireless network, but my ipod4 will not let me connect to it. When I try it tells me that it is unable to join. I can access the network on my laptop fine. I am also having trouble with connecting my ps3. It has the exact same problem. Can anyone help me?

The ps3 problem tends to indicate a router problem.  Have you powered off and then back on your router?
    For the iPod try:
    - a reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset Network settings: Settings?|>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • NB200 Can connect to wireless networks, but cannot connect to the internet

I have been able to connect my Win XP netbook to my secure wireless network at home, other people's networks and public networks like the library and McDonalds. This week I'm away from home and discovered that while I can still connect to a number of different wireless networks, I cannot connect to the internet using Internet Explorer.
I've had this problem once before and fixed it by reinstalling Windows XP and all my other software. I have no idea why it has happened again. I'm hoping for a less drastic solution to the problem..?

    Hi Nakia,
    > I cannot connect to the internet using Internet Explorer.
Have you tested other browsers like Mozilla Firefox and does this work?
As MasterG wrote try to renew the IP address using the commend line.
Last week I had a similar problem and I could solve it by updating the WLAN driver. Just remove the driver, restart the notebook and install the newest one. :)

  • Out of the blue, my ITouch is unable to access my wireless network ONLY when my PC has been turned on (PC is connected via Ethernet cable, and has no wireless capability as far as I know).  What gives?  It works fine when the PC is off.

Out of the blue, my ITouch is unable to access my wireless network ONLY when my PC is on (the PC is connected via Ethernet cable, and has no wireless capabilities that I know of).  What gives?  When the PC is turned off, everything is totally fine.  I\m stumped.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
I suspect a problem with your router. Try changing the security. First use no security as a test.
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • WRT150N - can't see wireless network

    Hello,
I just got a WRT150N and I managed to set up a network and I can connect via Ethernet. However, when I enable the wireless settings (mixed mode), neither my laptop nor my PS3 can see the network. What's odd is that the wireless diode is off but the Security is on. Am I missing something?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Try to change these settings on your Router and check if you are able to locate the Wireless Network on your Wireless Computer and on your PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Laptop can't see Wireless network

I turned off my power strip the other night which turned off my Lynksys WRT54G router. When I fired it all back up, my laptop can't see the router. My blue-ray was connected to the router via ethernet for Netflix and it is still able to work through the ethernet cable and I can get online with my laptop with an ethernet cable, it just won't see my network wirlessly. It can see neighboring wireless networks though. Help!

Advise you to log on to wireless router configuration page and recheck the wireless configuration again, try to find out any incorrect configuration. If need more ideas, can take a look on this wireless network troubleshooting tips article, hope able to help you more.

  • Airport express can't extend wireless network

Airport express(A1264) can't extend wireless network. It seems that Airport express can't find my home Wi-Fi network. Amber light is blinking, and AirPort Utility of MacBook also can't find Airport express.
If AE is connected with TC via LAN cable, amber light is blinking with message "Wireless Network" (This Airport base station is set up to join a specific wireless network that can't be found...)
It was successful only once, but all failed after that.
Is there solution for this problem?
    [My system]
    Time capsule 4th generation
    Airport express 1st generation (A1264)
    [Settings]
    Time capsule (ethernet connected)
    - Create a wireless network
    - 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g/n (Automatic)
    - 2.4GHz / 5GHz Channel (Autmatic)
    - WPA2 Personal
    Airport express
    - Extend a wireless network
    - WPA2 Personal
    - 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network name and Password is set up

If AE is connected with TC via LAN cable, amber light is blinking with message "Wireless Network" (This Airport base station is set up to join a specific wireless network that can't be found...)
Sorry, I misunderstood what you wanted to do.
Since you did tell us that you had the Express connected with an Ethernet cable, I assumed that was how you wanted to configure the Express.
But I want to extend a wireless network (not using ethernet)
Because Airport Express and Time Capsule cannot be connect via ethernet cable.
Follow the same setup as above....and do not connect an Ethernet cable.
Keep the Express near the Time Capsule for the setup. Once you have a green light, move the Express to a point that is about half way between the Time Capsule and area that needs more wireless coverage.
If you reset the Express several times and try the setup several times without success, I think you have to suspect a defective Express.
