TS1398 useless for me

i've tried all the solutions above but didn't work for me, my iphone still doesn't accept my router password,i guess it's a bug in the latest ios version i dont know why the specialists and responsible crews dont pay any attention about this problem, its not only with my home wi-fi, any wi-fi that needs password is useless for my iphone, please dont repeat the mentioned solution before, clear the bug from ios and release a new update!

Although I would still like to know what exactly was causing Safari to crash all the time (so if anyone else wants to chime in here...) I'm more than grateful to have a functioning browser again - thanks for the suggestion! I was totally unaware that this existed, and I'm happy to see that some folks are out there providing support for folks still using older PPC Mac's - like myself. I would recommend this browser as a solution for other folks who might be having the same issues with Safari as I was, but with this one "heads up" - cookies are disabled by default on the browser, but some sites - like these Apple Discussions - don't like that. The Apple site doesn't give you any feedback as to why you're still a "guest" after logging in with your ID & password, but my work web mail site did when I tried to login. After enabling cookies I was able to login to both sites with no problems.
Again, thanks for the tip!

  • Both of the 4G mobile hotspots are useless for business use

I just returned the Samsung SCH LC11 as it can't be used with VPN. I saw that the Novatel 4510L was released and spoke to level 2 tech, it's not VPN compatible either.  Great to have a 4G network that useless for business.  The tech team has no clue as to when this will be resolved.

Since the early release the Iphone now gives you the ability to shut off your email and you would have control over your web surfing via edge/safari by just not surfing. In other countries (like Germany for example) I understand WI-Fi is more available. Here in the US ATT has public Wi-Fi spots where you can buy a day , week or month of time for between $7 and $30 which allows you to control you data and email costs. Now while these conditions may not be ideal, if this is truly for business then such costs would be the cost of doing business even in the UK but I guess since you have the VAT across the pond it is a god reason not to want to pay more up front. The Wi-Fi solution isn't perfect because you now have to actively get your own email rather than having the phone get it for you but and you can't use the surfing and Google features at will but such is the price of controlling cost. We have had early usage problems here in the states where families going on cruises forgot to turn off their Iphones and got socked with $4300 phone bills, but updates to the software allow you to control the email features. Hope this helps with your decision. I think you'll find the Iphone not so much useless for business travelers as you might suspect.

  • HT4759 Hello .. I've been subscribed for ic;oud for 20$ per year and I found it useless for many reasons: that I can not disconnect my mobile while the uploading process and it takes long time for uploading my data .. Its not a reliable system that's why

Hello .. I've been subscribed for ic;oud for 20$ per year and I found it useless for many reasons: that I can not disconnect my mobile while the uploading process and it takes long time for uploading my data .. Its not a reliable system that's why I need to deactivate the space service and take my money back .. Thanks

The "issues" you've raised are nothing to do with the iCloud service.
No service that uploads data allows you to disconnect the device you are uploading from while uploading data. Doing so would prevent the upload from completing. It is a basic requirement for any uploading service that you remain connected to it for uploading to be possible.
The time it takes to upload data to iCloud is entirely dependent on how fast your Internet connection is, and how much data you are uploading. Both of these things are completely out of Apple's control. Whichever upload service you use will be affected by the speed of your Internet connection.

  • New ipad mini retina cannot select "never" for time out period. It makes the product useless for such things as navigation and frustrating for reading

Must add the never option to the time out period or the product is useless for navigation and other purposes where continual use is required.

This should be an option in the General settings on your iPad. The option is called Auto-Lock. There should be the following options: 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and Never.
If you select Never, that should stop the screen from going to sleep automatically. If the Never option is not present, you more than likely have a Exchange account synced with the device that does not allow that option. If that account is disabled, that option should show.

  • Since subscribing to iTunes match my ipad2 no longer offers the AirPlay option on the volume bar within Music, rendering my bowers Wilkins speakers useless for both iTunes and spotify. Why is this and how can I fix it?

Since subscribing to iTunes match my ipad2 no longer offers the AirPlay option on the volume bar within Music, rendering my bowers Wilkins speakers useless for both iTunes and spotify. Why is this and how can I fix it?
Apple made no mention of this being an expected issue, so I can only assume it's unintentional. Otherwise I wouldn't have subscribed to Match in the first place!

How big is your library?  I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
    - Backup your library.  Always a good idea before messing with things.
    - Create a new library.   Refer to this article for details:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589.  This won't delete your old library, you're just creating a new empty one.  Also refer to this article to get back to your old library later.
    - Add a few albums into this new library.  Not everything, just a small sampling, as a test.
    - Activate Match on this new library.  You shouldn't have to re-pay, it should just say "Add Computer" or similar.
    - At this point, Match should run again. With just a few albums it should complete in just a few minutes.
If iTunes doesn't crash at this point, then likely there's something about your original library that Match doesn't like - what that is I don't know, but at least you'll know it's not your PC.   If iTunes still crashes, then if could be a number of other things, but probably not your library.   My next suggestion (if you haven't already done this) is to uninstall / reinstall iTunes.   If that doesn't work, then my next ideas you won't like.

Hold on, found it - Alt 3 - thanks to old messages.

hello, for the old sync system in firefox 28 and below you also had to sign up with a mail address and password originally - to connect firefox to the old account you would need to have all those three pieces (mail, password & recovery key) available to you unfortunately...

what is your solution for getting public transportation in map? Actually my iphone is useless for me because it hasn't a public transportation map.

This has been a huge problem for me too. I was actually late to work yesterday and wanted to throw my phone out the window of the bus that I finally was able to find. I'm new to Portland, so this suddenly missing feature is particularly problematic. It really is so hard to avoid getting angry, I just can't believe they would eliminate a feature that people rely on so heavily. But anger doesn't do any good so I'm trying my hardest to stay calm and figure out an acceptable solution while Apple works to restore this feature - at least I pray to God that that's what they aim to do. Here are the apps that I've been trying, I'll try to explain how they work and maybe they will work for you. This is going to be a long post, but I'm hoping some people will find it helpful.
I'll start with the most obvious of all - adding Google Maps to your homescreen. Every time you launch the app you will get a diaologue prompting you to allow Google Mpas to use your location, and then you will be in an environment that looks similiar to what we are used to. It does not integrate with your contact list, so one workaround I've been using is going to my contacts and holding my finger on an address to copy it to the clipboard. Be aware that leaving this web app will lose whatever you're looking at and go back to the start, so best to do this before you launch it. You'll notice some strange behavior - for instance the drop down menu of suggested locations will apear and then quickly disaprear, so just ignore this. Often it will often unexpectadly scroll to the top for some reason when you're trying to do something towards the bottom. Haven't figured out a fix except for trying to not get flustered and doing things slowly and deliberately. It's not as quick as we're used to anyway so this is not hard to do. If you'd like to see any of the suggested routes on a map you can do this by clicking the small 'Map View' link. Just be aware that you can only do this once or you will have to type in your starting an ending points again, as there is no way to go back to the list you were just looking at once you are in map view. One thing that I have found helpful about the Google maps method is when looking at a route, whether in list or map view, you can see the stop ID right there, which is helpful if your city has a way to check real-time arrivals. For instance here in Portland you can text this stop ID to a certain number and immediately receive real-time arrivals.
The app I've been using most is called 'Transit'. It's pretty beautiful aesthetically, and the UI is simpler than anything else I've come across, which is convenient for a task that you want to accomplish as quickly as possible so you can put away your phone and be on your way. When you first launch it you're presented with three bus routes that stop near your current location. It tells you which direction the route is headed and in how many minutes the next bus is scheduled to arrive. This is helpful if you are familiar with that particular busline, otherwise there's no indication of where the line will take you. Upon clicking a line, you're presented with three buttons (again, loving the simplicity). One reverses the direction of that same busline. One expands the list of times so you can quicly see all the arrival times for that bus route at that particular stop for the entire day. The other takes you to map view and quickly displays the location of this stop. And here's the best feature of all (!!), it shows you the busline as a blue line and every single stop is marked with a circle. You can click on a circle and it displays the expected arrival time at that stop. This is all very helpful in some circumstances, but of course it does not let you type in a destination and have it build a route for you, and if you'll be transferring to another line this will not help you at all. To accomplish this you press the arrow in the lower left where you can type in a starting point, ending point, and an arrival/departure time. And this DOES reference your contact list. It will then allow you to quickly switch between three routes that it selects. It also searches Maps (actually it says 'Powered by Foursquare' for landmarks/establishments. For instance if I type in 'sushi', I'm presented with a handful of sushi joints in my area. There is a bug in this app where sometimes the 'Route' button is missing and you can only resolve this by leaving the app and quitting the process in the multitasking trail. When it builds your route, you can click on any point of transfer and it will tell you what time that bus/train is leaving. There is no list view, but personally I never found list view very helpful anyway. I know some people will disagree though.
Now I'll talk about HopStop. This is a kind of clunky interface unfortunately, and also has ads which I can't stand. It is able to reference your contact list. My least favorite thing about this app is the list it gives you is so excessively long-winded it's hilarious. Every single stop along the route is listed in this list view, so you'll be scrolling through literally dozens of pages of useless information like 'Pass such-and-such - 1 min. Pass such-and-such - 1 min. Pass such and such - 2 min.' Oh well. The good news is on this insanely long list, it indicates when you are supposed to do something other than sit patiently in your seat by having an icon to the left of that instruction - either a person walking or a bus number. When you switch to list view unfortunately it no longer displays departure times, so you'll have to be switching betwen maps and list view. One great feature of this app is it lets you save routes to your favorite list. It also lets you find bus stops and quickly see what bus lines hit those stops. I can't stand the flashing advertisements, so I avoid using this at all costs.
On to 'City Maps'. Again, the first thing you will see is a short list of bus lines that hit the stop nearest to you. Tap on one and it shows you the next three departures in either direction, as well as the distance between your current location and the stop in question. This app also searches for restaurants and such, but takes this feature on step further. Here when I type in 'sushi' and select a restaurant, I'm brought to a page that links to the Yelp, Foursquare, and Facebook pages associated with it - even has a link that takes you directly to the menu if Foursquare has it. Awesome feature, right?? Tap on 'Map' and it immediately displays the location and an option to build a few routes. It always displays the walking route below the bus lines to give you a sense of how long it would take (even if it's a two hour walk). Clicking on a bus route on this list takes you to list view. Unfortunately this also displays a deluge of pointess turns that only the bus driver need worry about, but it's not as bad as HopStop. There's an optional feature where it can display Google Street View images right in this list view, if you think that could be helpful. With one tap it quickly switches to a very aesthetically pleasig map view. There's an update button that lets you immediately refresh directions, edit starting/ending points, or give it new directions altogether.
I'm sure in just a moment someone will come along and say something insulting about how we're blowing things out of proportion. I guess that's just the nature of trolls - a lot of people find being angry on forums while hiding behind their screen names cathartic for obvious reasons. Let's all of us just do our best to ignore these people and keep this discussion diplomatic and oriented towards helpful solutions. I know none of us want to give up our beloved iPhones, I'm only considering it as a last resort.

  • Safari is basically useless for me

Safari (ver 5.0.6) is just about useless to me on my main computer. Sure, it’s an older “Quicksilver” Power  Mac G4 @ 1.47 GHz w/ 1 GB RAM but I don’t use it for much more than managing my iTunes & iPhoto Libraries, email & web surfing – which I can’t do anymore on this computer because of constant Safari crashes. (The Libraries are on 2 internal & 1 external 250 GB drives, with an external 1 TB drive for backups.) Other than that it’s perfectly suitable for my needs – I’m not a “power user”. (Safari on my even older “Sawtooth” Power Mac G4 in the basement works just fine for web surfing, but it’s a pain to have to run downstairs to do this.) Safari works fine on my Intel MacBook & MacBook Pro, but again, I’d like to be able to use Safari on the computer that manages all the other stuff.
So here’s the problem – whenever I go to a web site with a lot of visual content – embedded videos and Flash stuff – if I scroll down too fast, or basically at all (while all that content is “loading”), I get the “spinning beach ball of death” and Safari crashes. I can’t find any consistency in the “crash logs” other than the “exception type” and “exception codes”, and the “crashed thread” could be any number. Here’s 3 recent examples -

It would seem that all crashes involve “com.apple.CoreGraphics” and “com.apple.QuartzCore” along with a few other things.
Now I’ve done all the basics – all software updates that are available for this machine and for Safari have be downloaded. Disk “permissions” have been repaired multiple times, “zap PRAM” multiple times – even uninstalled/reinstalled Safari, but no “love” from these efforts. I’m thinking that maybe there’s a file or process that’s external to Safari, but that Safari makes “calls” to, that is corrupt. In the Widows world there’s stuff like this – “normal.dot” in MS Word comes to mind – that one can rename or delete, and the application will rebuild a new one upon launch if it doesn’t find it. On the other hand, since the problem seems to be associated with rendering graphics on the display maybe it’s a hardware issue with the video card? (An ATI Radeon 9200 card.)
Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome. Otherwise I’ll just bring the old “Sawtooth” Power Mac G4 up from the basement and reconfigure it use my libraries.
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert
Note: Safari crashed on me just trying to get to post this - an old version of the Camino browser is the only way I can get around on the internet on this computer at this point!

  • Should e-book Data Guard Concepts and Administration be useless for us?

I think The Data Guard Broker is an easy and efficient way to manage a Data Guard configuration. The Data Guard Broker provides us with two efficient tools: EM Console and DGMGRL. We can do everything we want for Data Guard system.
Why we spend so much time to read Oracle e-book Data Guard Concepts and Administration? I think it is useless. Only Broker is enough?

    Frank,
The thing is GUI tool itself is also program that need some one to manage. The developer of such tools cannot take care unlimited possibilities in the real world.
Just check how many threads in this forum about why emca, dbca and EM console not working.
Being a DBA, we should understand the underlying technology that driven the system. It's like driving a car. A regular customer could say I don't care about mechanics of a car. As long as it's running, that's enough. But we are not regular customer, we suppose to be the auto repair mechanician in Oracle world. We could enjoy driving a car, but at same time we should know why and how it's working.

  • Adobe Encore - Completely Useless for Bluray

    Hello,
I'd just like to post my experiences for creating a blu-ray disc with Adobe Encore... actually I've been unable to create a proper bluray with this useless program.
    Here's what happens:
Adobe Encore CS3: Error --- "Out of Memory"   -- The bluray will not even compile.
Adobe Encore CS4:  The project compiles into an iso.  The main menu begins to loop at a *1 second* interval, even though I set it to loop every 45 seconds.  Within this 1 second, obviously you can't access any items in the menu.
Adobe Encore CS5:  The project compiles into an iso.  The main menu works fine, however, when I try to access two items in the menu... they don't work at all.  Also my first play video is completely black.
I'd just like to know, isn't Adobe ashamed to release such useless programs for 3 generations without bug fixes?  Programs which cost a lot of money.
I have to admit, Encore did work fine for my dvd projects, but maybe it should stick to being just a dvd authoring program.
After a week of trying to work out my bluray with these programs, I have to start looking for alternatives.
Thanks to the fine Adobe engineering team for releasing this trash for generations straight.

    Dave,
Does your CS4 menu have a video that loops?  If so this needs to be a dynamic link from After Effects to loop properly.
I hate to pile on here but I have to agree.  Encore seems to be the also-ran of the CS5 suite.
I just installed the CS5 suite and tried to make my first Blu-ray project.  Upon burning the disc I recieved and error.  Opened the exact same file in Encore CS4 and it burned without error.
Plus, Encore wants to keep re-importing assests when I go to burn or even open a project.
Too many unexplained problems for a fifth generation program.  Blu-ray is not as new anymore and this should not be the case.
Between Encore and waiting for other programs and plugins to work with 64bit, CS5 has been an upgrade that I could have waited a bit longer for...

  • Log useless for forecating?

    Hi all,
I use the forecast functions of type exit in BW-BPS with Automatic model selection for forecusting sales of materials and log display. Information about selected model and mathematical errors is keeped in the log. But it does not fit the information to which of that material includes the commentary of log. As a result, the log has essentially become useless.
Is there any method to insert to a log key of materials, to tie technical details of forecasting, whose were saved in a log, to a data which need to be forecasted?
    BW3.5
    Best regards.

I tried:re-set everything and setup again.
It work only for a week.
I just check today: no any outgoing log and incoming log again. Only DCHP Client log show the result.
    How's to resolve?
    Also more important is
This equipment is use by my boss home
He has a Lenovo T400 laptop, wireless network is Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN
    Encryption: WPA2-PSK/TKIP
Recently, he cannot connect sometimes. he need to reconnect for 2nd times
From environment, WRT310N should cover his home area.
I have setup to use Channel 6. Suppose no conflict from nearest wireless router.
Can any advise some solution for this problem?
I guess it may relate to :
    (1) router is very hot: specially in summer
    (2) do i need to use WPA, not WPA2? it help to mininize the loading of encryption process.
    Please kindly advise

  • My iPad Air crashes on all web browsers making it useless for work

My iPad Air crashes alot which is only a problem when filling in forms or working on it , my dads iPhone 6 does the same thing. Are apple products no good any more or is there a way to fix it?! I've tried google chrome and opera and they crash n lose the work too. Basically useless as a work tool

I just cancelled my Iphone 6 order (it wasn't getting here anytime soon anyway) because it is using IOS 8.  I wouldn't go near that operating system if you begged me.  I used to love Apple products.  They absolutely are no good since I upgraded to IOS 8 from 7. What a mistake.  My Ipad has crashed 4 times, and after restoring to new, it crashes again.  I have lost money on upgrades to apps, or add ons to apps and have finally decided to go to a Windows system.  I can always add ipadian to the windows system to use my apple apps.  I better not upgrade my apple imac or something terrible might happen.  Sorry Apple but I had one of the first Apple IIe's way back in the 80's but you lost me for good, because you are ignoring everyone with this - "it is a hardware problem", no sir it is not.  Turn on WiFi and there it goes again, crashed.

  • Parental Controls logs pretty useless for viewing

Here's a very simple use case where the "logs" feature fails miserably:
We give our daughter complete access to the internet, but occasionally - usually when the homework she does takes 2-3 times longer than it should - we want to check the logs to see whether her online time is actually spent at homework-related sites.  Last night she didn't go to bed 'til midnight, so today I wanted to check which web sites she visited between 10pm and midnight.  Simple enough, right?  Not with Mac OSX's half-baked log feature
I go into Parental Controls and click on the Logs and proceed to "Web Sites Visited".  I am greeted with "Show activity for: One week" and "Group by: Website" followed by a list of web sites that have been visited in the last week.
Problem 1: Since "Yesterday" isn't an option, I have to slog through logs for a whole week.  Worse yet, since the grouping by website doesn't give any date information whatsoever at the top level, I'd have to individually open the hundreds of sites she's visited in the last week, just to find the ones she went to last night.  Obviously not feasible.  So, I change the Group-by to "Date" and - conveniently, there's a "Yesterday" drop-down.  Cool!  Well, maybe not:
Problem 2: When categorizing by Date and you drill down on "Yesterday", it shows all the web sites visited yesterday, but since the log window is too narrow and isn't resizable, you can't even see the full URL, much less any timestamp there might be appended to the web site URL.
Now what kind of asinine implementation is this?  Did Apple actualy pay a developer to produce such an horrendous interface?  Worse yet, Apple hasn't seen it fit to fix this mess in several releases now.  I just upgraded to 10.8.3 and it's the same useless garbage.
I searched on the net to see if there's some other way to view this information (the access data is stored in a file called events.data in /Library/Application\ Support/....) and came across a suggestion to load a Firefox extension for SQLLite and view that file through it.  I actually got that working, but the dates given in this database weren't meant for humon consumption - they're just numbers.  So I did a reverse sort on that column and, voila, I see my daughter's most recent accesses....except I don't know where to stop reading, since I'm only interested in most-recent to 10pm last night.  But isn't it pathetic that I have to jump through all these hoops - just because some amateur developer at Apple hasn't seen it fit to allow horizontal resizing of the window - or at least a horizontal scroll bar?  Worse yet, that Apple hasn't done a thing about it since at least Snow Leopard?  So frustrating - since it would be such an easy fix.
Finally to my question: does anyone know of a way to view this log that doesn't require extensive knowledge of the system, SQL, etc. - like a graphical tool built into Mac OSX?

I have the exact same question and issue. When I check to see all the apps he's used in the last year, it comes up blank in the logs. All I get in the logs is rejected websites ending in late January.
Does anyone know where the logs are stored? My other kids' logs are working just fine which is the real puzzler.

  • Used for an iTouch. Useless for anything now

Recently I attempted to get a video from my cousins iTunes. In attempting to sync I ended up fully restoring the phone. Not a problem accept it was my moms old iphone and when she gave it to me she kept the sim card and uses it in her new non-iphone. i used the one she gave me as in iTouch. Upon restoring i realized that the iPhone became useless. So far the only way to fix it without jailbreaking it is getting a new account and paying $36 a month or whatever for it. I dont have that kind of money. Is there any solution to my problem

This does not apply to the iPhone sold in the U.S.
With a no longer activated iPhone that was sold in the U.S., the no longer activated SIM card that was used with the iPhone when it was activated must be inserted when installing a firmware update or when restoring the iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed - which is hard to do by accident. You must manually select Restore along with an "are you sure" and do you want to back up your iPhone first, etc. messages provided.

  • Firefox 27.0.1 crashes and slow dow, useless for me.I want to change IE, how can I migrating my bookmarks to IE?

I used Firefox for more than 10 years (actual version 27.0.1). Since2-3 days Firefox crashes and slows down. I have already blocked all the additions, without any results. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, the situation remained the same. I can’t really use Firefox support, because I had to wait more than 5 minutes to open the page. I made 2 virus research (MS Security Essential, and MS anti malware) I did not have virus.
I returned to the base state of Firefox, It fonctioned, but after the restart of Windows, it started again slow down.
I tried IE it function well without any problem, but it’s slightly strange for me, but I have to work, so I must use another one if Firefox is dying on my computer.
Unfortunately I have more than hundred important bookmarks in Firefox which are necessary for my daily work, so I can’t simply uninstall Firefox and use IE.
My question: If Firefox is not reparable how can I migrating all my bookmarks to IE?
Thank you in advance for your help and instructions

First of all thank you for your response
I saved all my bookmarks to a library (I have created a library) and I used the importation function of IE, but it was partially successful, more than 70 % of the bookmark has disappeared. I suppose it was a mistake of the conversion made by IE. So I uninstalled and reinstalled again Firefox, thereafter I reinstated the bookmarks.
I suppose, that I found a reason for the crashes and the freezing, probably it was a consequence of the adobe flash player 12. It seems Firefox has a conflict with adobe flash player.
So as conclusion I have trapped between Firefox and IE, Firefox does not work well on my computer, IE work, but without my bookmark and without my usual comfort and customization of my Firefox…
Just a note: during this letter writing, Firefox has slowed down 2 times.
Thank you in advance for your help.
