TS1567 iPhone not being recognized by Windows 8 or iTunes

My iPhone is not being recognized by my Windows 8 laptop, or itunes. I have used the original cable and a new one. Both cause the computer to ding when the phone connects, but i cant find the phone ANYWHERE. I have stopped and restarted the Apple Mobile Support Service. And restarted my laptop.

All needed drivers are installed when you install iTunes and QuickTime. Try to reinstall the Apple software again, as explained in this article:

    Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    And that did the trick.

  • IPhone not being recognized by iTunes

My iPhone is not being recognized by iTunes. I have iPhone original version with the latest software OS update. The phone was reset because of unrelated problems, and I need to connect to iTunes for it be operational! iTunes 9.1 on my computer... my iPad syncs with no problem but the iPhone is not even showing up as a device on the iMac or MacBook!
I have followed the steps on the Apple Support website, but the problem persists. What to do next?
    thanks

Your computer detail provided indicates you have a Mac and the link you provided is for Windows - at least for the software conflicts portion the link went directly to, although some of the troubleshooting steps are similar.

  • IPhone not being recognized (almost) by iTunes

Hi.  I am trying to sync an iPhone (generation 2).  When I connect it to my computer (Mac) I see the phone under the device list, but the iphone sync/tabs [summary, apps, etc] that are usually shown in the main window when a device is connected are not there.  Instead, I see a generic grey "iPhone".  This phone has been synced with this computer previously and the back-up files are still there under Device Preferences.  The iPhone is being recognized by iPhoto, and the photos were successfully downloaded.
I also tried with my iPhone 3G, and that resulted is a successful sync, with all the expected tabs shown.  So... I am guessing it is the iPhone 2.  I also updated the itunes software a few days ago and I am thinking that the new version may not recognize the iOS 3.1.3 on the oler iPhone.  If this is the case, how do I update the OS if I can't sync via my Mac?
Any advice would be appreciated greatly.
    Thanks

  • Does anyone have problems with the 7th generation nano not being recognized by windows?

Just got my nano and although it worked the first time I plugged it in to my laptop, it now can not be recognized by Windows, it is completely dead and will not charge at all...anyone else having this issue?

  • Video Ipod 80G 5th generation not being recognized by computer or  itunes.

My ipod is not being recognized by my computer or itunes at all. I bought a new cable and nothing happens as well. however when i connect it in my car it works fine. did any resolve this issue? I am not sure if its the new software that has the issue but i am almost certain it is.

Many people are reporting problems with connecting there fifth-gen iPods after the update to iTunes 9. I had the same problem, and when I downgraded to iTunes 8, everything worked again.
I tried cables, resetting, and all the other steps. My solution turned out to be iTunes 9 itself.
My problem came from using a replacement hard drive-an adapter that allows me to retrofit my iPod with a Compact Flash card instead of a hard drive.
The problem is NOT the adapter. This system functioned perfectly until iTunes 9, and when I switched back to iTunes 8, it worked again.
Summary: I have a modded iPod, and it consistently works with iTunes 8, but not iTunes 9.
Reason: Apple is sooooooooooo afraid a Palm Pre user will be able to use iTunes that they are breaking the sync code on purpose.
    Downgrading iTunes:
    1. find the download of iTunes 8 for your OS. (not posting links, as they may change)
    2. go into your iTunes 9, and export EVERY playlist to a text file. This is the only way to preserve your playlists.
    3. Uninstall iTunes 9 from you computer, install iTunes 8.
    4. Configure iTunes 8 to use your music folder (especially if you moved your music to a different location other than the default)
    5. Add your music to iTunes-this may take awhile.
    6. Import you text files and your playlists will return.
    7. Backup your iTunes 8 library files.
Happily enjoy your modded iPod. Mac Users: Don't accidentally install iTunes 9 from an Apple Update.

  • Iphone not being recognized by Itunes for MAC; But works in Windows Vista

    Hi,
My iphone sync with Windows without problems.
But when I plug my iPhone in MAC (10.5.5) with Itunes (8.0.2) the iTunes return: itunes could not connect to the iphone 0xE8000001
It is strange because iPhone connect with iPhoto without problems.
Just iTunes for mac dont work.
This is a brand new minimac.
    Any tips?
    Rogerio

    RogerioNT,
Which USB port are you connecting it to?
iPhoto will transfer over a USB 1.1 connection, and many hubs are USB 1.1. Try connecting the iPhone directly to the back of the computer.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Iphone not being recognized in i-tunes.

I plug my i-phone whith i-tunes running. Usually no problem and being recognized and synced. Over the past week, i-phone not recognized when I plug it in. what's happening ?
    help

Same problem here, but Windows isnt even recognising the iphone. The iphone seems to be working perfectly and still charges when plugged in. I've reset it a few times in case that worked but no joy.
I updated itunes to v9.1.1.12 last night, but I don't think that is related as the iphone is also not appearing when plugged into my work laptop. Seems to suggest the problem's with the iphone.
Is this happening to anyone else, before or after ths update??

  • IPhone not being recognized by iTunes anymore

    Howdy,
Like the subject line says. It use to auto recognize so I can sync, though the last time I synced was back in Dec 2007. But now it doesn't even recognize the device at all. itunes won't list it on the left hand menu, so I can't sync.
Not sure if it's the latest update to iTunes 7.6.1.9 that caused it.
    Tried:
Swapping different USB ports. It only recognizes that there is a camera device attached.
Tried uninstalling the latest update and running an older version of iTunes I downloaded last Oct. But the old version won't start up because the library has already been updated to newer version.
Did a hard shutdown of my iPhone, and that doesn't work.
Tried charging iPhone to max and that didn't work.
    Basically, nothing is working.
Any ideas? Not sure if it's the device or my computer, and I can't seem to find any way to reach customer support on this website... it's like a maze.
I'm using Windows XP. I'm about to pull my hair out!

    Hello
Posted below is some troubleshooting that may possibly assist you today. Please be aware I am also posting what may have been done already. You can skip past this if needed. Simply posting it for others as well. If you have any other questions feel free to post back.
    1. Go to Add/Remove Programs, Located in the control panel. And check and see if "Apple Mobile Device Support" is listed. It is usually located right above "Apple Software Update"
If it is not there. Then this is the reason iPhone stopped showing up. Please follow the next step below to possibly resolve this.
1 A - Uninstall the following programs in the following order if possible. Then reinstall iTunes 7.1.6.9 for Windows
    * Remove Apple Mobile Device Support
    * Remove Apple Software Update
    * Remove Bonjour
    * Remove any iPod Updater Programs
    * Remove Quicktime
    * Remove iTunes
-Reboot the computer, Then download and install iTunes 7.1.6.9
Once you have installed, Connect the iPhone, Wait and see if it shows up in iTunes. If it does not proceed below.
    2. Go to Start- Run- type services.msc and press ok. The services window will launch.
Do you see Apple Mobile Device in the list? If so the Status should be started. If it is anything else please post back what it is.
You can usually right click on Apple Mobile Device, And tell it to start service if it was some how stopped. Once you start it and it stays started, Reconnect iPhone and see what happens.
If for some reason the service auto stops, This is sometimes caused by Security Software. Please disable or uninstall this software for testing, And see if it allows the service to be started.
If for some reason Apple Mobile Device says it is disabled. Then do the following
2 A - Right click on Apple Mobile Device, Select Properties, Look for Startup Type, Switch it to Automatic, and Apply settings, Then Start the service and press ok, Now test iPhone
    3. Please test all USB Ports and see if any of them resolve iPhone not showing in iTunes, Also if possible connect iPhone to another PC to ensure it is not the iPhone itself. This will isolate it to something on the PC or iPhone
If possible disconnect any un-needed USB Devices.

  • IPod not being "recognized" by Windows XP

So I just got my 30GB iPod Video and I installed all the software and stuff. I hooked the USB cable up, but each time windows says "USB Device not Recognized". I looked at the message and it says something about a driver not being installed for the device. If anyone could help me I would love it!!! I've done EVERYTHING!!!

I hope this will help. I had installed my 5th Gen. 30 Gig iPod on my computer which originally only had 1.1 USB ports on it at that time, and it did sync and work, but I wanted to be able to sync faster. So, I had a 2.0 USB card installed. This card would not recognize my iPod at all. I reinstalled iTunes and iPod software thinking that would help, but nothing helped the 2.0 card simply would not work with the iPod.
So, I went to the iPod search site and did a search to find approved 2.0 usb cards. That yeilded several pages of approved USB cards. I took this list to my computer guru, they ordered me one of the approved cards, took out the first "generic usb 2.0" card they had installed and put in the new on. Guess what, it immediately worked when I plugged in my iPod!!! It copied 59.2 minutes worth of music to the iPod in less than 10 seconds! I am amazed how much faster it is.
I say all of this to say that your computer's USB card may not be compatible with your iPod. If not, change out the card with one that is. I hope you will have the same success I had. What a difference it makes! Good luck.

  • A Solution for freeze at Connect to iTunes & iPhone not being recognized:-)

Had a nightmare last night whilst updating my 3GS to IOS 4 on a vista PC, really thought I'd broken my phone, which refused to talk to iTunes or reboot. It just constantly displayed a USB plug with Connect to iTunes, Here's how I finally resolved it.
    DFU MODE:
    Step-by-Step
    1. Turn the iPhone ON
    2. CONNECT it to the computer with a DIRECT USB connection.
    3. Make sure iTunes is open so you'll know when it enters DFU mode.
    4. HOLD the Power/Sleep-Wake button AND the Home button for 10 seconds.
    5. RELEASE only the Power/Sleep-Wake button and continue to hold the Home button.
    6. WAIT until iTunes recognizes the phone in DFU Restore mode (in Windows a bubble pops up saying it recognized new hardware "DFU Mode" or something to that effect)
The last step may take SOME TIME, 60 seconds or so.
The screen should be OFF (black), if you see the "Connect to iTunes" logo, START OVER.
It may take a few attempts to do the steps just right but it worked for me.
Failing that completely and I mean completely remove itunes and re-install then carry out the above. Details on how to completely remove iTunes here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Took a while but all's well now

P.S I didn't lose any iPhone content but had to restore my phone then update from iTunes which even after you have completely uninstalled and reinstalled it should find all your music etc again.

Have you attempted to connect iPhone to other USB Ports on your Mac?
Make sure you are not connecting the iPhone via a USB Hub, Mac keyboard, or using a USB extension cable.

  • IPod Classic 5th Gen (30 GB) not being recognized by Windows 7 Vista Netbook.

My iPod isn't being recognized I tried everything . Reinstalling Itunes. Resetting Ipod. Putting it in Disk mode. everything. I plugged it up to my school's mac desktop and it syncs and everything. On my Windows it doesn't even show up as mass storage device or anything. It's annoying. I just want to listen to music.
Is there a driver or something?
My friend said Registry fix, but i doubt it.
When I try to update driver, it says the most recent one has been updated.
    This *****.
    Please help

When you plug in the iPod does it even appear in Device Manager?  See this article for more details.

Otherwise, I have a feeling that the USB ports on the Netbook don't output enough power to allow the iPod to fully communiate properly with the Windows Vista O/S.

  • Iphone not being recognized by Itunes so I cannot fix the songs with the red circles with squares in the middle

I have an Iphone 4s and i have two reocurring problems. So my first problem was after I had synced all my music most of the new songs and some old that never had a problem before had a red circle with a red square inside of it. I've gotten rid of it before but I dont even know how. I've read countless discussions and tried so many things that I dont even know what works. i figured it just fixed in time but there has to be an easier way that isnt so frustrating and annoying. So now my iphone isnt even being recognized. the apple mobile device is installed and running and has been stopped, started and restarted plenty of time. ive reset and restarted, reinstalled everything. my phone is charging, it just isnt being recognized by itunes or my pc. also in the device manager it isnt showing up. I am getting very close to smashing my iphone and switching to an android. everything is up to date and i also have tried to sync music on the first ipod touch that came out and even that isnt being recognized. I just want to get rid of the **** red circles and connect my iphone so i can sync it a million times in hopes that the red circles will just disappear. does anyone know why these red circles appear? Apple needs to get their stuff together and give us actual directions on how to fix this!!!! thank you for your help!!!

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
    Go to 'Settings'
    'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!
