TS2771 Reset ipod 4 and still cannot get speaker to work... with headphones it works, but without headphones, nothing. Apple reset it and said hardware problem, but nothing else.. Any ideas??

Any ideas to get speaker on ipod touch to work.. took to Apple store, for them to wipe it out,to confirm what I said is correc... they said Hardware Issue, and nee a new one, b/c they have no idea.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem (you may have done these)
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris. I actually did not resolve the issue which is why i did not post an answer.
it turns out that my iphone seems to default to an incorrect User ID (it defaults to an @me account, which is not something that i have ever used).
even when i change the User ID in my settings for the iTunes store, it still appears when i attempt to get updates for my existing apps. however, it does seem to use the correct ID when i attempt to purchase new apps.
If someone actually had an answer to correct this, i would love to update my existing apps.

I think I saw this post somewhere but I cannot find it. I tried myself and got it partially to work but not entirely.
I have a name, like Joe Smith, and I need to output it to J. Smith. I think I can do that. But where I have problem is if the the name is Joe C Smith (no period after the middle C). I need to convert that to J.C. Smith, or J. C. Smith. My current technique makes it J. C Smith (no period after the middle C).
What coldfusion functions would I use to convert Joe C Smith to J.C. Smith, or what sql commands, if that is a better approach.

If your system is storing names as a single string, one is going to have a very dificult time correctly parsing such strings into sub strings without human intervention. And even then, the only way to be sure of correctly identifying the parts of all names is to ask the name holders.

I have updated Adobe Flash as you reccommend, but still cannot see videos. I have followed your instructions but not having any luck. help.

I think that means your Flash player is installed and working. But why not on popular sites? Hmmm... to see whether an add-on is at fault, you could try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, close Firefox, hold the Shift key, and restart Firefox in
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.
Does YouTube work in Safe Mode? If so, a conflicting add-on is the most likely culprit.

I recently loaded OS 10.6.2. I can get on the internet but can't access email. I get a pop up that asks for my email passwd. I enter the passwd but it is rejected. My email provider checked everything from their end and said it was my software. Any ideas?

I recently installed 10.6.2, everything was fine for a few days. Last night I logged on to check email and got a new pop up window asking for my email account password. Its never came up before with the old OS or with the new OS prior to this point. I entered my password but it was rejected. After an 1 1/2 hours on the phone with my internet/email service provider it was determined that my password was good and the system was ok on their end. Access to the internet is not affected so I think its something wrong with the new OS. Any ideas?

Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
The solution has been to:
1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.

If the Mail.app has been LOST, it can be re-installed by applying the 10.6.8 version 1.1 combo update. But this update is quite large and it is usually not necessary:

Ok, so you said you've already right clicked on each song and "created a MP3 version?"
If so sort the library's music by "Date Added (if it is not there right click on the other sort bars and add the column "Date Added". The mp4 versions are the ones in the playlist. You will have to find the newly added mp3s by sorting by Date Added. Hope this helps!

Compare the options Mail gives you for server configuration with those available in Thunderbird. I use TBird myself (have used it for years, across several platforms, and am not about to change) and was really astonished at how very few options Mail has in terms of configuration settings. One of my colleagues cannot connect to his IMAP server, I realized it was because the server requires TLS rather than SSL, and Mail does not offer a TLS option. I told him to use Thunderbird instead. It isn't what you want to hear, I'm sure, but with Apple you either do everything the way Steve Jobs wants you to do it, or you don't do it at all. It's the main reason I stick with apps that work the same cross-platform as much as I can.

Your Apple id password is not necessarily the same as your log-in password.
The former is what you use to log-in to Apple services and sites. The latter is what you use to login to your computer. That does not change when you change your Apple ID password. Try the original computer login password.

I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11.

worked for me, then general software update showed "ios 7.0.4" is up to date. awful long and frightening update but all well that ends well. this Sleep/wake AND Home worked to shut off.

The following is how to do a proper reset of an iDevice:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
