TS3183 ipad won't switch on or charge

Help, my Ipad 1 won't come to life, have plugged it in to charge and there is no sign of life, have checked the charger on my ipod and it works fine so I know it isn't the charger. it was working a couple of days ago and just seems to of died.  HELP!!

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My mini ipod won't switch on or charge. I have tried charging it several ways - via the pc, plug and incar charger but no luck. The pc does not recognise the ipod. I have tried toggling the hold switch. The usb ports on the pc are ok.
The last thing that I did with the ipod was detached from the pc when it had the message to do not disconnect.
    Can anyone help
    thanks

  • IPad won't switch on

My iPad 3rd gen won't switch on this morning. No idea why... Tried charging it, but no response.
    Any thoughts folks?

    Try a reset:

  • HT4060 My  first generation Ipad won't allow me to charge it by the mains socket.  This was a replacement as my origional Ipad had a software problem.  I have rebooted it a number of times but still not charging.  Any advice?

My Ipad 3G has decided not to charge.  I have been using the same charger that came with it which worked perfectly until a few days ago.  I have even tried to charge it using my incar charger, but it still won't charge up.  This Ipad is a replacement as my first one had software problems, so I am hoping this can get fixed and not result in another replacement.
I will be grateful for any advice.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • IPad won't switch to landscape view

I updated my software on my iPad and now it won't switch to landscape view and it is not locked. I have restarted it and cleared my memory and checked every setting that I can think of. What now?

By restart  do you mean a reset ? If there isn't a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Is there is a lock symbol then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

from lunch the screen was black. I plugged it in and it won't charge.

First try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • IPad 2 safari won't open and iPad won't switch off IOS 6.0.1

    Hallo everyone,
Pleease can anyone help as my iPad 2 is no longer recognised in iTunes.
I cannot open Safari - it immediately returns to the home screen.
It will not switch off so that I can reboot it.
    Aaaargh !
    Thanks

Quit ALL apps completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Do this for Safari as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • IPad won't switch on and has a picture of USB and iTunes

My iPad wont switch on and has a picture of a USB port and iTunes

You might call it a software check, but I would call it a problem with the iOS software and you will probably have to restore your iPad. Connect the iPad to your computer and launch  iTunes and see what happens.

  • My ipad won't switch on

My ipad was left on charge overnight as it was below 20% - it was working prefectly yesterday. Now it seems completely dead. I have tried pressing and holding the on button on the side and I have tried to re-boot it in some way by connecting it to itunes on my PC. Still as dead as a dodo. Help!

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Make sure you hold both buttons down together until you see the Apple Logo.

  • IPad won't stay off when charging

When I plug my iPad into an AC outlet and start charging it and then try to shut it down it restarts itself. Is this correct behavior? Every night when I charge my iPhone I turn it off once I've connected to the outlet and it stays off while being charged.
If this behavior is normal I'm curious as to why.

Whether the iPad's asleep or completely off, plugging in the charger will either turn it on immediately (if it was asleep) or reboot it to the same initial "Slide to unlock" screen. It is meant to confirm that the charger is actually working and is definitely intended behavior. If it didn't do this then you'd never be certain that the thing is actually charging. It will go back to sleep after the time you set to lock in the Settings under Auto Lock, unless you set that to "Never" in which case it will stay on until you turn it off.

  • Ipad won't sync or even charge

I've spent most of the morning browsing these forums, for topics on this exact subject, but haven't been able to find an answer, that would shed some light on my case.
I've recently been to America, and couldn't resist buying an iPad (i live in Denmark, and it doesn't appear that we're gonna get them till late fall). Now to the issue at hand:
My iPad charged fine in America and didn't have any trouble connecting to my (almost) brand new MacBook Pro. But as soon as i crossed the danish boarder, the connectivity of the iPad dropped to zero. Even when i plug it into the wall plug (still using the 10w power adapter, made to handle the 240v current we're using over here) nothing happens! It charges (though very slowly) so there is a signal! But it should go alot faster, and at the least, it should say that it's connected!
Then, when i plug it into the USB from my MB the same happens, but this way, i don't know wether it's charging or not. It doesn't sync to iTunes, and the usual pop-up from iPhoto doesn't seem to happen!
I've tried to reset it, but that didn't help me at all.
The last thing i could try, is to sweet it clean, but hence alot of my photos from the holiday in America is on it, i wouldn't hope this is the solution!
Thanks in advance! And a good sunday to you all!

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
See the information here re; World Electric Guide for Denmark.
    http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm
"Denmark's connectors have slight differences from those used elsewhere. While pin diameter and spacing is standard, outlets may have different housing depths which could interfere with standard adaptors -- one report says this is due to "childproofing." Also, Plug C fits into K-type outlets (but not vice versa)."
You might be able to get help here. http://www.apple.com/dk/contact/

  • Iphone 5 won't switch on or charge up

My Iphone 5 was working perfectly, then ran out of battery. So I came home and put it on charge, however, it wasn't charging and after leaving it on charge for 5 hours still won't turn out. Tried my charger in my computer too and it wouldn't charge up that way or even recognise there was a phone plugged in. PLEASE HELP!?!

Thanks, made an appointment for Wednesday

  • 6085 won't switch on or charge

I just bought a 6085 today, got it home and put the sim card and battery in properly, plugged in the charger, and nothing happened. I have unplugged the charger and plugged it back in again, I have tried different power points around the house, I have waited to see if it needs a few minutes to warm up first. Nothing.
Do I need to leave it on the charger for a certain amount of time before it actually starts charging?
The jack for the charger doesn't appear to be pushed all the way completely in - I can't push it any further in. It's almost all the way in, there is just a tiny bit of silver still showing. Is this normal?
This phone was bought from a dealer, everything was packaged correctly, all legit and above board - could the battery be broken or something?
    TIA

That is not normal, you should be seeing some sign of charging almost straight away on that model.
Was it sealed when you bought it? If not it could be an ex demonstration model or have been returned by someone else. It could even be a faulty charger.
The charger will only go as far as it needs to and does stick out on some models.
If you are certain that the battery is inserted correctly and it still doesn't work you should return it.

  • IPad won't switch on, got the waiting circle thingy all the while. How do I get out of this?

Any help with iPad2 that has locked itself completely?  First time I've used it. Stuck, not used Apple product before

You need to activate it in iTunes on your computer before you can use it. Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. When are connected you will be prompted as to what to do next.
If you have activated it and it will not turn on hold down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad and the round home button at the bottom of the iPad - at the same time - for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, then let go of the buttons and see if the iPad will now start.

  • My 2nd Gen IPad won't turn on or charge. Help?!

I bought a new wall charger with the correct power to get it to charge but even after having it plugged in over night it still wouldn't turn on. I also tried to restart it by holding down the home and power buttons. Still nothing. If I hold down the power button the charge signal will come up saying it needs to be plugged it but goes right off. I don't know what to do.

your charge port is bad, go to an Apple Store or call 800.MY.APPLE and if it is still under the warranty they will repair it at no charge.

Using 10.6.7 on a 27" iMac. In the last couple of days, when I put it to sleep using the apple icon, it wakes up after about 5 seconds. No big changes or new software. Repaired permissions. Any thoughts on how to fix the issue would be appreciated.
