TTG Gallery Index - Web module template

Hello,
I'm today releasing my latest project, TTG Gallery Index for Adobe Lightroom. TTG Gallery Index allows you to generate a gallery index from the Lightroom Web module.
Be sure to read through the documentation for usage instructions.
This is a 0.9beta release. Get it:
http://theturninggate.com/blog/ttg-gallery-index-for-adobe-lightroom
Also, there are a handful of known issues. If there be any CSS maestros among ye, I'd love some help squashing the bugs. Issues are documented at the above address.
Feedback/suggestions welcomed and encouraged!

I'm getting an error when I try and save a Web Gallery Index template for future use.
A window pops with an Internet Explorer Script Error:
Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: 'return' statement outside of function
Code: 0
URL: agwpg://templateIcon:8/index.html
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
If I try and update the resulting template the line in the error
window labeled URL: will increment the number part of
'templateIcon:x' where x will increment to 9, then 10, then 11, etc.
Any ideas?

  • Flash gallery in web module not showing

When using the web module the flash galleries do not show anymore; there is simply a black screen in the center panel. The HTLM galleries show alright. The problem started a few days ago when I updated to Adobe Flash Player 11. Any suggestions?

I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

  • Using a class in a web module

I'm using netbeans and the web module template.
I'm pretty new to jsp, so please bare with me. I just want to be able to use a class in my jsp page.
    I have 2 files:
    WEB-INF/classes/Customer
    index.jsp
in the Customer Class, i declare the package at the top:
    package com.mycompany.data
    public Class Customer {
in index.jsp, I want to use the Customer Class. I try like this:
    <%@ page import="com.mycompany.data.*" %>
    <%
    Customer cust = new Customer();
    %>
I keep getting an error in index.jsp on both the page directive and on the line where I declare and instantiate the Customer object.
Can someone inform me or point me to the right place to understand how to use a class in a .jsp?
    Thanks

If the class Customer is in package com.mycompany.data
Then Customer.class should be a file in
    web-inf/classes/com/mycompany/data/Customer.class
Apart from that it looks ok.
You might consider using a <jsp:useBean> tag instead of declaring customer in a scriptlet.
I'm very much a fan of minimum scriptlet code on a page.

  • Updating web module

    Hi everyone
    I am using LR 1.3 - Mac OX 10.4.X
I have previously created a template in the web module from images that I loaded from the library.
I then added this custom web module template and uploaded to my website.
Everything works fine until I come to update the web gallery using this custom template.
When I upload to the server or even export it, Lightroom is using the images and IPTC from the original template - in effect not updating the gallery on the browser.
Do I need to delete the template and images from LR and start again, surely it is possible to update a saved custom template with new images, but I cannot see how.
    Thanks
    Eric Whitehead

I'm a little confused by exactly what you're trying to do, but let me try to help.
    1) If you're trying to add images to an existing gallery on your website, it cannot be done. You need to recreate the entire gallery from scratch -- select all of the photos, generate and export the gallery -- and completely replace the existing gallery on your server.
    2) If you've selected images with which to create a gallery and moved to the Web module, the gallery should be generated. If you're attempting to apply a Template preset to the gallery, it should work ... UNLESS: You've updated the gallery to a newer version than that which was used to create the preset. Template presets need to be recreated when you update your gallery to a new version.
    Does that address your issue?

  • TTG Rounded Gallery - Web module addon

Another gallery template for the Web module; uses Slimbox and Nifty Corners Cube.
    Get it:
    http://theturninggate.com/blog/ttg-rounded-gallery
    Matt

Ah ha! Now I understand your problem. You didn't delete the XML prog. For Slimbox to function properly in IE6, you need to edit the index.html file after export and delete the first line, ?xml version=1.0?. LR puts it in there, and it messes things up in IE6.
My site explains this under the "IE6 Compatibility" heading:
    http://theturninggate.com/blog/adobe-lightroom-slimbox-template
Remove it and things should be fine. You'll have to do this for each gallery that you export.

  • Web module: Galleries index page

    Hello,
There is one thing that I would like to see in lightroom: The ability to create an index that link to all available gallery. Each gallery link could also have an index of the first photo of each gallery.
This would same me the trouble of having to create and maintain a gallery index by myself.

  • Web module: exporting keywords to a template not possible?

I want to use the web module to generate my photoblog, however I need to be able to export the keywords or collections used to tag each image. The dialog box for changing the image caption allows you to export all sorts of EXIF and IPTC metadata but not the lightroom keywords.
I've already made a template for my website but the generated xml file produced by lightroom for the transformer XSLT script to process seems to have no information about the image keywords in it so I'm stuck.
I know the keywords are embedded into the actual jpegs that are exported but extracting them would be more effort than its worth, I dont want to have to run more software after exporting from the web module just to get the keywords.
    Any ideas?

Looking at the XMP for a recent file, the keywords are stored as follows
         castle
         cloghan castle
         couple
         matrimony
         september
         wedding
So you'd need to figure out how to extract them from there.

  • Custom module templates for Web Apps

Just wanting to see if there's anyone out there who knows if the custom module templates from the September release are available for Web Apps?  I can't seem to get them to work.
When placing {module_webapps,8168,a template=”/custom/wap-contract.tpl”} I get a "No Items Found" response. I would appreciate help as this would be very useful in building Web Apps and I can't find documentation on it
    Thanks

They do work with Web Apps, I've been able to use it successfully. Here is the only documentation I can find on it so far:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/using-custom-templates-modules.html
Curious though, when  you get "No items found" that means there are no web app items to show. So we don't really know if your custom template worked or not. If you can get some items to show up and they use the default layout, then we know something is wrong.

  • Web Module HTML Templates fail to render colors per Preview

Help... any HTML Template in the Web Module only displays a white background. All my web site pages I've made using the Midnight Template.  Now, and I don't know as of when it changed, but now all white.   Flash Templates render OK, just like the Preview shows.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I almost never use IE (only if another download requires it).  Not even sure which version comes with Win7.  Perhaps a Windows Update changed something?  I always use FireFox.  I had been using a dual boot system for awhile, with WinXP on another drive.  I had no trouble with the Midnight template there, but I've never been able to see the Midnight template in Win7.

  • Web Module Edit Photo Border Flash Gallery

I am try to edit photo border/frame (color & stroke) in the Web Module.
This is not the thin lined rounded corner border around  the whole plate.
Editing the drop shadow would also be nice.
    Appreciate any members help.

  • Can LR Web module converting file name hyphens into underscores be disabled

    Hi,
I have problems when creating webpages from within LR.
First I develop the RAW files and converts them to jpegs. Under Lightroom 3 I use the following settings under "Export location":
    Export to: Specific Folder
    Add to This Catalog: ticked
Existing Files: Choose a new name for the exported file
This is thus native Lightroom. For existing files the new filenames are generated with a hyphen follwed by a numeric suffix. as follows: for FileName.jpg this would be FileName-2.jpg, FileName-3.jpg.
Afterwards I use the web module with the TTG Highslide Pro plugin to generate the webpages. For each image on the page there is a link to the original image to download it. It is here where a problem occurs. With the above mentioend naming convention (adding a hypen when files do already exist) there is no problem at all to display the photos nor as a tumbnail, nor in the slideshow.
When trying to download the high resolution image however a problem occurs. The file can't be found. This is due to the hyperlink pointing to filenames like FileName_2.jpg and FileName_3.jpg. As the image itself is having a hyphen followed by a numeric suffix it can't be found when the link is pointing to that file using an underscore instead.
So to me that's a little problem as I am not at the steering wheel at any of the two moments where a naming convention is applied; the automatic filename generation at time of export from Lightroom and the change of the hyphen to the underscore when generating the webpage.
Any Idea how this can be solved? Or having an underscore used by the automatic naming in Lightroom, or using the hyphen (leaving the filename as it is) when generating the webpage with the LR web module.
I posted that question already at the TTG forum and got the following respnse from Matthew: "Lightroom's Web module converts file name hyphens into underscores. It's not something I have any control over at all."
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Patrick

I have the same problem in that filenames created with (for instance) photographer-place--year_month_day-filename.cr2 are exported by Lightroom 3.4.1 correctly, without change, into jpg versions, but TTG Highslide Gallery Pro (or, rather, Lightroom) forces a conversion eliminating the dashes and replacing them by underscores. TTG states on its website that this is unavoidable in the Lightroom web module, and recommends entering one's wishes in the "File Handling" tab within Lightroom Preferences.
However, my LR preferences include the standard File Name Generation option "Replace illegal file name characters with: Dashes (-)" so this would indicate that a dash is not regarded by Lightroom as illegal and therefore should be left alone. As is in fact the case on a normal export from a raw cr2 to jpg: no change in Lightroom and therefore no problem. But export via LR via TTG causes an unwanted conversion from dashes to underscores.
While searching the web I came across this old post http://thephotogeek.com/ttg-web-gallery-client-selections-lightroom/
which mentions the question as a LR2 bug.
I then exported a web gallery using LR's standard web template and here too all file names are converted from dashes to underscores, despite what is entered in LR's preferences. So my conclusion is that this remains a LR bug, and no fault of TTG.
I am delighted with TTG and couldn't do without it, but am still stuck with this issue which shouldn't need to be an issue at all, if only LR would leave things alone.

  • Need help using WEB module in Lightroom 2 for .mac/mobile me accounts

    Hello,
I need help in finding the Server path information for Lightroom 2.  I am trying to use the Web module of Lightroom and build a website and instead of going through another hosting service, I want to use my Mobile ME account, can't I do that?
I have the user name and password obviously but what is the server path, protocol, path?
    Help please!
    Thanks
    Ray

For those Mac Users using iWeb, MobileMe, and Lightroom 2, here are step-by-step instructions on how to create a web gallery in Lightroom, upload the gallery to MobileMe, and finally, how to link the uploaded files to the wesite you created in iWeb.
    1. In the Lightroom Library module, create a collection of photos you want to display in your web gallery.  For illustration purposes, we will call your collection Sunsets.  Once created, it will be listed under Collections in the left panel of Lightroom.
    2. Switch to the Lightroom Web module and select the Sunsets collection (from the panel on the left of the screen.)
    3. Chose whichever template you like (from the list of Templates in the left panel).
    4. Fine tune the appearance of the gallery using the controls in the right hand panel of Lightroom 2.
    5. When you are satisfied with the gallery’s appearance, use your keyboard to type Command-S.  That will save your template settings (give it a unique name when saving).
    6. Open up Finder on your Mac.  Inside your username folder, create a new folder… I'll call it Web Files.  (You can choose any name you like, and locate the file anywhere on your Mac HD.)  You have just created the folder username/Web Files.
    7. Back in the Lightroom Web module, chose Export, at the bottom of the right panel, and export your gallery to the folder you just made (e.g. export to username/Web Files).  By doing so, you will have created /username/Web Files/Sunsets.
    8. Once again open Finder on your Mac.  Go to /username/Web Files/Sunsets and you will see 3 files in the Sunsets folder: bin, index.html, and resources.
    9. Open a second Finder window and in it, click on your iDisk icon.  You will soon see all of the files on your iDisk.
    10. In iDisk, click on the folder called /Web.  You will now see the /Sites folder inside the /Web folder.  I.e., /Web/Sites.
    11. Drag the Sunsets file from your Mac HD to the /Sites folder on your iDisk.  E.g, drag Sunsets from /username/Web Files/Sunsets on your Mac HD to the /Sites folder in iDisk /Web/Sites.  The Sunsets folder (and the three files it contains) will now upload to your iDisk on MobileMe.
    12. Open iWeb on your Mac. Add a new page to your website.  Call it “Galleries,” or anything you like. (You can also use an existing page if you wish.)
    13.  On that “Galleries” web page (or on an existing web page), create a picture icon, or a word, or a symbol, or anything else that you will activate as a hyperlink to your iDisk web files - specifically, you will link it to the Sunsets folder you just uploaded to iDisk.
    14. Activate the hyperlink in iWeb’s Inspector.  In the URL box, type:
http://web.me.com/username/Sunsets  (Don’t forget to substitute your name for “username” and the name of your gallery for “Sunsets.”)
    15. Save your website in iWeb, and then publish your site.
You will NOT see your gallery in iWeb – you will see only the link to the gallery that you uploaded to iDisk..  To view your gallery, either make hyperlinks active, using the Inspector in iWeb and click on he link to the gallery, or visit your website on the internet.  If you want to edit your gallery, you will have to do that in Lightroom… then repeat steps 7 – 11.  You cannot edit your gallery in iWeb, but you can use iWeb to change the appearance of the link to your gallery, or to change it’s location within your website.

  • Web module: All Flash Galleries have a 'cool' tone on images

My monitor is calibrated 3x year and I have no other issues with color anywhere but in the Web module and only when I use ANY Flash gallery.  This has been a problem for me since 4.0 was installed (now on 4.2)
Before any of the images (sRGB jpegs) are selected, the template appears and the preview image is 'blue' and I see the same cool cast on all the navigation bars (see screen capture below of the standard Flash gallery *BEFORE* the images load and notice the 'blue' boxes- this is how 'cool' my images become .
Once the images are chosen and loaded, all the images have the same blue/cool tone look.  Again this is ONLY occuring on the Flash Gallery templates.  I have been using a workaround by creating virtual copies and 'warming them' before moving to the WEb module.
    Anyone else have this issue?

Appears it wont work. Since the last project didnt require
any installs from the end user, I wont be able to get away with it
    for this one.
(user would need to have AIR installed on their machine)

  • Web module exports all the different preview sizes

Trying out the web module - I select a flash template with extra large previews. When I export to Dreamweaver, not only are the Extra large previews exported but also large, medium etc. This means that if I upload to my server I will use far more space than necessary. Can I prevent this? Or can I simply delete all but the extra large pictures?

When exporting a Flash gallery it does export three sizes. Those three sizes are "relative" to the "preview size" setting, which you could kind of think of as setting the size for the "largest" of the three. When the gallery is loaded into a browser, the gallery automatically detects the size of the window, looks at the rendition sizes available, and then downloads the largest rendition size that will fit into the window. It then does some pretty sophisticated pre-fetching of the other images of that size based on user behavior (linear vs non-linear browsing of the gallery). The gallery does not download the other renditions at all - unless the end user changes the size of their browser window such that a different rendition size should be used. The gallery does not real-time scale the images inside Flash - except in the case where the browser window is made too small for even the smallest rendition, in which case it will scale down the image in real time (this is why your "trick" works). In Beta 4, the gallery threw scroll bars on the images themselves if the window was too small. I think the 1.0 approach is much better.
Granted this takes up extra room on the web server, (pretty cheap these days though) but if there were only one rendition, it really should be a size that will fit on 800x600 monitors - which is still well over 10% of web users, which would mean it would need to be pretty dang small given OS chrome, browser chrome, headers, etc - and then if you had thumnails across the bottom... Is all this overkill? When I look at galleries like the one at http://www.computer-darkroom.com/antarctica_2007/index.html in a maximized window on my hi-res monitor, I grow to really love the multiple rendition approach.

  • Web Module Export Settings

I import as dng and then using these create collections which I upload to my website. The images look horrible. What internal settings does LR use when it takes the dng and does the conversion for the web?

yes quality is at max 100, actually there seems to be quite a difference between the home page shot (ozphoto.org) of a model with her hand to her face vs the same shot in the gallery index under portrait.
The home page is TTG Pages and the portrait is Slideshow Pro and in both of these I have used the best settings.
Although in on my screen in the develop or library module on either one of my monitors the images are sharp?
The web module and the web seems to be degraded
