Turning Business Content on a Test/QAS Box

I have turned on Business Content on our BW DEV box for CRM.  Can I turn on the same Business Content on our BW QAS box and remap?
My issue is that the transports of the business content turned on for CRM in DEV Opportunities ODS, InfoCube, and Info Objects are giving me errors when I import to QAS regarding missing info objects that should be linked by business content when it was turned on.
Time crunch.

hi,
the 'normal' way is via transport.
please collect these missing infoobjects in BW Dev and transport to BW QAS.
you can use ods or infocube as starting point,
rsa1->transport connection->left panel choose 'object type' and middle panel choose infocube/ods and 'select objects' and 'transfer', it will go to right panel,
use collection mode 'manual' and grouping 'only necessary objects', execute. after objects collection finished, expand the infocube/ods, and make sure these missing objects are there and marked. create request and transport then transport again the previous error request.
hope this helps.

i verified the objects included on the BI content objects window and noticed that the object 0CUST_CLASS_TEXT "active version" is not available and i tried finding 0CUST_CLASS_TEXT_BA and cannot find it.

  • Activate BI Business Content in production system

    Hi experts
I have a doubt, someone activated business content in production system, what are the consecuences in the future?
Are there any procedure to follow to activate business content from developement system and then to transport to QAS and PRS?
Edited by: José Jaramillo Padrón on Dec 15, 2008 11:32 PM

    Hi
what are the consecuences in the future?
Yes Its not advisable to activate the Business Content in Production server, because all the final Reporting Data will be fetched for the users from the same Production server and we should keep the system ready and available for all the time for the data loading and reporting.
If you are engaging the the system in activating the BC (hope you know that BC activation takes time and while activating it will lock all the dependent objects involved in it)
Are there any procedure to follow to activate business content from developement system and then to transport to QAS and PRS?
BC should be activated from Dev then Transport it to Quality testing activities user acceptance then transport finally to PRS.
Hope you know the steps for activating BC or else http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw31/helpdata/en/80/1a66d5e07211d2acb80000e829fbfe/frameset.htm

  • Installing Business Content directly in QA and PRD or transport it ?

    Hello,
We have been running a SAP BW Lanscapce (7.01 SPS7) for over two years.
We have recently applied to our BW Landscace an additional add-on ; SAP SuPM (Sustainability Performance Management 2.0)
Several thousands of new objects are delivered and we need to install the SUPM Business Content.
A specific BC installation procedure is described in the installation guide, use the report report RSO_BC_INSTALL_ALL  and not the transaction RSORBCT.
I intended to activate the SUPM Business Content directlly in DEV then QAS then PRD, as we did when we initially installed tthe three systems.
The develpent team would prefer to tranfor the transport the newly installed objects fronm DEV to QAS and PRD. They told me that activating directly the BC in QAS and PRD might cause issue for certain objects like transformations. During activation certain objects receive a unique ID hence receiving a different ID in each system. This would mean that we wonu2019t be able to transport changes to these objects from dev and that each change would need to be applied directly in each system which is not acceptable.
I am not confortable transporting thousands of new objects (even if they are collected in the same transport requests) from DEV to QAS and PRD.
What are you suggestions ? HAve you already been confroncted to the same problem, having to install thousands of new Business Content objects on an existing BW system ?
    Thank you for your attention
    Best Regards

    Hi Shiro,
There is one important thing that you should note down is, if you directly install the contents in production system and something goes wrong due to customization or any other thing then there is risk of recovering it and being production system I would say not to do that.
Where as if you install the contents in development then you will have chance to do the unit testing properly and then send the contents to quality and prod after testing and modifications if required. The risk of failure with transport is very less if the transports are moved in correct sequence.

  • Reg. business content

    hi
    greetings.
sahall anybody explain step by step of installing the business content.
    thanks
    regards
    sridhar
    [email protected]

    Hi Sridhar,
In the main menu of the SAP Business Information Warehouse select BW Administration ->Administrator Workbench.
Select the Business Content function area using the corresponding pushbutton in the left-hand navigation window or by Jump -> Install Business Content
With the pushbutton  Navigation Window On/Off on the application toolbar in the Administrator Workbench, you can show or hide the left-hand navigation window. We assume that the navigation window remains hidden in the following section.
If you want to assign source systems, select  Assignment Source System. The Select Source System as Default dialog window appears.
Select one or more source systems by setting the corresponding indicators in the Default Assignment column.
The assignment of source systems is only relevant for transfer rules, file DataSources and InfoPackages. If there is more than one source system, only those objects assigned to the specified source system are collected for the transfer. Objects that have not been assigned to the specified source systems are ignored.
If you do not select a source system, all source systems are automatically assigned.
You can subsequently change the selection you made using  Source System Assignment .
Change the required settings in the following selection list:
    Grouping
Choose the objects that you want the system to consider. The groupings summarize all the objects of an area.
    Grouping
    Information
    Only necessary objects (standard setting)
Only those objects that are really necessary for the action, that is, the transport of the selected objects, are taken into account (minimal selection).
    In data flow before
All objects are collected that submit data to a collected object.
    In data flow after
All objects are collected that obtain data from a collected object.
In data flow before and after
All objects are collected that both submit and collect data.
If you change the default setting ( only necessary objects), the new setting will be used as a standard for the user.
    Collection Mode
Select how you want to collect the objects:
    Collection Mode
    Information
    automatic collection (standard setting).
The data is collected directly when the objects are selected.
    Start manual collection
The data is only collected when you select  Collect dependent objects.
Select an Object Type you want to transfer.
You have various selection options in the navigation window in the Business Content function area of the Administrator Workbench.
When you select an object type, the arrangement and selection of the existing objects are displayed in the tree structure of the central screen area as below:
Object Type in the Administrator Workbench Navigation Window.
Display objects in the tree structure in the central screen area.

Select the object(s) you want to transfer in the central screen area and transfer them into the right-hand Collected Objects screen area by drag and drop.
Using  Search for Object, you can also search for objects by a string (for example, 0CUST) or by pattern (for example, 0CUST_*B).
You can display a value help for every object type: By double clicking on  Select Objects in the tree structure of the corresponding object type, the screen Value Help for Metadata appears. Select the required objects. Choose  Transfer selections.
You can only use Business Content DataSources of a source system for transferring data in BW, when you have transferred these in their active forms and then copied them into the BW system.
The system displays the selected object(s) and all dependent objects in the Collected Objects screen area. To reduce the time taken to access the objects when wanting to use them again, the collected objects are stored by default in the Repository Cache.
When transferring the objects to the Collected Objects screen area, the objects are added at the same time to the tree structure of the corresponding object type in the central screen area and are saved for the respective user. This personal object list is available every time the program is restarted.
To remove objects from the personal list, select the object in question and choose Remove Object from Display via the context menu or via .
Objects that are listed in several tree structures are only displayed as changeable the first time they appear. Each time they are listed again, they are highlighted in gray and are not ready for input.
Check the following columns in the Collected Objects screen area:
The following Business Content objects are highlighted in the Transfer column by default:
Objects transferred for the first time
Objects delivered again in a new version from Business Content.
When the SAP delivery version and the active version can be compared, a check box is shown in the column Compare (X) or Copy.
There is a check mark in this checkbox by default. In this case, your version is compared with the new SAP delivery version and complimented.
If you remove the indicator then the new SAP delivery version is copied in its entirety.
Date symbol: The object is already available in an active version. However, the active version belongs to an older Content Release. We recommend that you adopt the new version
Gray Selection : There is an active version in the system, but the object status is given as inactive. The object has to be subsequently edited.
In the Active Version Available column, there are the following display options:
    Indicator
    Meaning
    No Indicator
The object is not available in an active version.
The object is available in an active version. You can decide whether to retain this version or adopt again.
Change the required settings in the following selection list :
    Transfer Type
    Information
    Simulate transfer
A test is made to see if errors are likely to occur during the transfer. The most important objects can be checked in the simulation. However, this does not include all dependent objects Therefore, only use the simulation as an orientation help to be able to recognize errors and remove them.
    Transfer
The selected objects are transferred immediately.
    Transfer in background
The selected objects are transferred in the background.
    Transfer and transport
The selected objects are transferred immediately and then written to a transport request in the connection.
We recommend Transfer in the Background, because transferring a large number of objects and especially changing already active objects can take up a lot of time.
You can find out if errors have occurred during the installation of Business Content from a log, which you can request using the  Log pushbutton. Repair the errors in the respective maintenance transaction. Try to transfer the Business Content again.
    Hope this Helps.
    Thanks

  • Business Content Activation of business partner

    Hi,
I am activating standard business partner from business content. The business partner we have right now is of version 3.3/01 and has lot of custom fields. When I am activating the version 3.5/03 I want to make sure I don't lose those custom attributes and also want to know how this will impact the cubes,ODS,Infosets,Update rules,Transfer rules, queries etc associated with this InfoObject. Can anyone please help me out with this issue.
Also while trying to simulate installation of an InfoObject,it ends up with red light. It gives me a message that one of the attributes in the latest version is a navigational attribute and the older version it was a display attribute.Hence while simulating I check both the install and match/copy box so that I can transfer the selections without having to make it navigational but end up with the red light. Is it advisable that I go ahead with installation or how should I go above it.
    Thanks,
    Kal

    Kal,
when you activate the new version , the version is changed from M to A and the new business content would become the active state...
But then since the old BPartner IOBJ is being used in ODS.. cubes etc , I am not sure if your Business COntent installation can proceed since there is master data as well as the same being used across BW.
You could try a merge instead to see if he new fields as part of the new business content is carried over.
    Hope it helps.

  • Can't create DTP for cube migrated from business content to 2004s

I am in the process of converting 3.5 Business Content InfoProviders to the new model for 2004s.
Master data was not a problem, but I’m having a hard time getting InfoCubes to migrate.
I installed 0PUR_C03 from Business Content and replicated the DataSource into the Data Warehouse.
I right-clicked 2LIS_02_S013, selected Additional Functions, then chose “Transformation erzeugen” (a.k.a. Create Transformation in English).
The transformation is generated with no errors and it was activated.  The DataSource is migrated automatically in the process.
Then, I went to add the Data Transfer Process and that is where I got stuck.
I right-clicked the cube and took Create DTP.  For source type, I selected datasource.  A dialog box then shows the objects associated with the cube, including the converted infosource, but nothing is highlighted for me to choose from, and I can’t complete the process of creating the DTP.
Can anyone tell me where I might have gone wrong?

    u got it...

  • Package name in business content

when i am trying to activate a cube in business content, when i click install and transport,i am getting a pop up window asking for a package name
can somebody please give me some info on this, what is a package name,is it just like a folder or anything else

You can go to se80 and open any Package and F1 over the name  of the package and you can see the sap Help...
    Package
Packages extend the concept of development classes to improve modularization, encapsulation, and decoupling in the SAP System.
Development classes, used until now, are simple containers for development objects, provided with a transport layer that specifies how they were to be transported. As an enhancement to development classes, packages include the following attributes: nesting, interfaces, visibility, and use accesses.
Nesting is the ability of a package to include other packages within the package hierarchy.
Visibility is an attribute of package elements. A development element can be visible from outside the package. (It is always visible inside its own package, though not necessarily all the packages embedded in this package). A development element is visible externally if it is included in at least one package interface.
The use access gives a package the right to use the development elements in the package interface of another package. Note that this right is one-way only.
    Package
    Definition
Related objects in the ABAP Workbench are grouped together in a package. The assignment of an object to a package is entered in the object directory (TADIR). The package determines the transport layer that defines the transport attributes of an object.
The packages are entered in the table TDEVC. They can be maintained in the following transactions:
    Transaction SE80 -> Enter package -> Double-click the package
    Transaction SM30 - Table/view name V_TDEVC
The packages are themselves objects of the ABAP Workbench. They belong to their own packages.
In contrast to its predecessor, the development class, a package has the following additional characteristics:
    Packages can be nested.
Packages can contain their 'visible development objects' (visible outside of the package) in package interfaces.
Packages can have use access defined for other package interfaces.
    Use
When an ABAP Workbench object is created, the system prompts you to assign it to a package. The package should describe the area that the object belongs to.
The representation of the object tree in the ABAP Workbench (transaction SE80) uses the package as a navigation aid. If there are more than 100 objects of a certain type (that is, ABAP programs), the object tree can no longer be clearly represented and it becomes increasingly difficult to use the ABAP Workbench. In this case, we recommend creating new packages with the same transport layer and distributing the objects to the new packages on the basis of the areas they belong to.
The following naming conventions for packages determine the packages' functions:
Package begins with A-S or U-X:
These packages are for SAP standard objects. Customer objects cannot be created in them. Changes to objects of these packages are recorded by the Transport Organizer (Request management) and can be transported (see field transport layer.
Package begins with Y or Z:
Customer objects can be created in these packages. Changes to objects in these packages are recorded by the Transport Organizer (Request management). The objects can be transported to other SAP Systems (see the field transport layer ).
Package begins with T (private test package):
When you create a package of this type, you can specify whether you want changes to be recorded. If so, objects that are edited are recorded in local requests by the Transport Organizer. This package does not belong to a transport layer. Objects can only be transported to other SAP Systems if a transport request is created.
Package begins with $ (local package):
Changes to objects are not recorded by the Transport Organizer. The package does not belong to a transport layer. The objects cannot be transported.
Package begins with a namespace prefix:
If you have reserved a namespace, then you can create packages (and other objects) whose names begin with the namespace prefix.
(Example of a namespace prefix /COMPANY/, example of a corresponding package /COMPANY/DEVCLASS)
Changes to these packages are recorded by the Transport Organizer, and can be transported.

  • Business content implementation timeline

    Hello folks,
Trying to get an idea of timeline to plan for implementing standard business content for the new G/L functionality and Asset accounting. Assume a brand new SAP BI install EHP3 and no customization. Will appreciate any guidelines to consider for this.
    Thanks!

No customization?  Standard guidance is that business content only gets you 10-20% of the way....
Also still many variables...performance optimization...for instance do you use FI_GL_10 or FI_GL_12...same content but different method of delta extraction and big concern depending on requirements....Also do you plan to convert business content to follow current best practice?  LSA/EDW approach?  Or leave it in 3.x format?  Queries?  Implementation of MultiProviders?  Time to design security roles and validate?  Bex web or simply analyzer?  Are you wanting to know end to end time for no customization and integration testing with users, and time to go-live?  Or just straight content activation time in development only?
The straight up content activation time with no customization, testing, etc. is the smallest part of the project, but is still significant depending on which InfoProviders you choose, etc.
You can stand it up in a couple of weeks...but you'll spend months making it useful.

  • Business Content Activation - run time error

    Hi guys,
We were at plugin 2002.1. We installed PI 2002.2 and PI 2003.1 on top of it.
After the plug-in upgrade, we are at support pack 9 for SAP-BW and 13 for BI-Content. For aba and basis, we are at 620 and support pack 32.
As part of the regression testing after the 2003.1 plugin upgrade, we found out that the business content activation abends with the following run time error.
    Runtime Errors         SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC
    Exception              CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Looks like it is trying to insert into table RSOLTPSOURCEFIET and the row already is existing. I thought the activation process is supposed to update something if it is already out there.
If we just select the 'only necessary', the activation goes through ok, but if we select 'before and after in the data flow', we get this abend.
    Any clues???

    Hi Seow,
This is how I resolved it. I looked at the ST22 closely and one of the messages indicated that the number range is missing in tran SNRO for an infoObject. I created an entry for that infoobject using SNRO and tried activation and it worked.
When we created an OSS for SAP to look into it, they recommended the following two things. I tried these two but it did not work. I am mentioning them below just in case they may help you.
    1) Sometimes there is inconsistency in the content cache when trying to activate objects and we have to delete the repository cache. To delete the repository cache, go to RSA1 ---> Business Content -
    > Extras ---> Delete Rep Cache
    2) Execute SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES program for types 1,2,3 and 6.
If this helps, don't forget to assign points.

  • Changes In Business Content and Extractors after r/3 upgrade

    Hi All,
We are in the process of upgrading from R/3 4.0b to ECC 6.0.
with the BW system bein upgraded to BI 7.0
    Question.
What changes would occur for the business content and extractors after the R/3 upgrade.
    Thanks in advace.
    Regards,
    Nikhil.S

    Hi Nikhil
The datasources remain same, U can migrate them in BI side from 3.5 to 7.0 using RSDS -tcode.
All extractors remains same, Well it again depends on the service packs u r using.
Now the latest for BI is service pack 17 and for Business content patch is Patch 10.
U can find new datasources like 0FI_GL_14 and 0FI_GL_40 and many other queries.
    In BI side
1.If you have update rules you will have to create transformations and there is no shortcut here ..if there are routines you will have to write them as well and change the syntax as some of the old syntax of 3.x is no more valid in BI 7.
2.Data loading concept changes as you can bypass the Infosource(but in few places you will need it actually like when you are directly loading from datasource to target and you want to read master data).
3.DTPs will be required..changes in the Process chains for the same.
4.Datasources need migration(first emulate them and test whether the Bi 7 loaidng is working or not otherwise if you migrate you will loose your transfer rule.
    Reward if helped
    thanks
