Tuxedo with XA connection on Oracle 8.1.6  on HPUX 11

Hello,
I search informations (references, problems, experiences, tests ...) on a configuration with tuxedo with xa connection on oracle 8.1.6 with cobol programs.
Thanks

You will likely not find too many answers for tuxedo questions on these
newsgroups. I suggest contacting your sales representative who can give you
more assistance.

  • Using once created prepared statement with different connections in Oracle

    Can I use same statement cash using different connections in Oracle
    For example I have a prepared statement p1. After its using i close connection (return it to the pool)
    Next time I want use p1 statement using another connection.
    Question : When I creat p1 in second time ,is it returned from cash or created as a new statement. And what I should do to use once prepared statement using differend connections.
    Thaks.

    As far as I know a PreparedStatement lives and dies with the Connection that created it. So, you cannot use a PreparedStatement with other Connection instances than the one that created it.
    You will have to recreate the PreparedStatement for each time you open a connection, or use the same PreparedStatement and NOT close the Connection in between. The last suggestion can be risky though, if you never close the connection...

  • Redhat 7.3 upgrade causing problems with client connections to Oracle 8.1.7

    I have recently upgraded from Redhat 7.1 to 7.3 and now my Oracle clients can no longer connect to Oracle 8.1.7. I read a note external to this forum that essentially says to reinstall Oracle.
    I would really like to avoid reinsalling Oracle. I haven't had enough time to devote to determining a simpler fix. Does anyone know whether reinstalling Oracle can be avoided?

    I resolved my own issue. The problem was with the 7.2 upgrade and how it treated client connections. Once I started xinetd (off by default), everything started working; imagine that.

    Mike, it sounds like the router is configured correctly because it is able to create secure connections to the internet for your other computers in the house. The issue must be a configuration misstep in the Network configuration of the Mac mini server.
    Could you please describe how the mini is configured in Sys Prefs/Network/AirPort?

  • ODBC Error while Siebel Server try to connect to Oracle 10G

    We have managed to get through with the configuration of siebel server on HP Unix. However before we get to the Database configuration, we are encountering errors with ODBC connection to oracle 10g database. We are able to connect to oracle using sql plus but odbc connection is failing. We verified for patches, missing files, directory access rights - but no clue as of now.
    Our error says:
    Logging into "ENTSIA_DEV_DAN" as "sadmin"....
    /user/lib/hpux32/dld.so: Unable to find library 'libclntsh.so'.
    ODBC error IM0003 in SQLConnect:
    (DataDirect){ODBC lib} specified driver could not be loaded
    Unable to login using specified odbc parameters
    This has become a show stopped for us and we are strugging with this for the past three days without much direction.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I guess your DataDirect Driver which gets registered during Database Configuration has some problems.
    Can you check whether the DSN is using the proper Driver?
    Also, the username through which you are logging in to start Siebel Services must have proper rights.
    Many times on Windows platform i have noticied this error in ODBC due to improper user rights. If the rights are not proper, the DataDirect Driver fails to get loaded & throws similar error.

  • Problem to connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 at Vista sp2

    Introduction
    Hi guys, good day... NEED RESCUE!! SOS!! Hmm.. i have trouble been 1 weeks trying connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 on window vista sp2. Actaully im very new at Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 but i got a project is going to build up system database and i figure out Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 can use free so i just chows these appication to be my project. I been search around internet and there is several things i was found about the connection but i has try and tried still it wont work out.
    Things i found and learned
    Oracle
    1. I have download Oracle 10g XE and installed in my windows vista sp2.
    2. I notice the Oracle Developer Tools is needed for VB2010 (To add reference 'Oracle.DataAccess'). So i was downloaded ODT11beta and installed
    3. I also edit TNSNAMES to following below:
    OraDb =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = shin-PC)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    4. My sqlnet like following below:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
    5.I have try tnsping OraDB and its works.
    6. I monitoring task manager and OracleServicesXE is running.
    7. ora_dba is added in Group.
    Problem in SQLPLUS
    When i try connect SQLPLUS in cmd i get ERROR: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.
    i . In cmd i type sqlplus and enter then i been ask for username and password.
    ii. After i insert my username and password and enter then i get the error of ORA-12560.
    Visual Basic 2010
    1. First i created my project, drawing label and button for test connection.
    2. Then, i add reference Oracle.DataAccess into my project.
    3. I type following script into my vb form:
    Imports System.Data
    Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client
    Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Types
    Public Class Logon
    Private Sub cmdLogon_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdLogon.Click
    Dim oradb As String = "Data Source = OraDb; User Id = system; Password = shin;"
    Dim conn As New OracleConnection(oradb)
    conn.Open()
    Dim cmd As New OracleCommand
    cmd.Connection = conn
    cmd.CommandText = "select SName from Staff where SName = shin"
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
    Dim dr As OracleDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
    dr.Read()
    lblOra.Text = dr.Item("SName")
    conn.Dispose()
    End Sub
    End Class
    Problem in VB2010
    When i run my project and press the button i get error message ORA-12514: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at conn.Open()
    Extra Question*
    1. Im notice in my netbook xp home sp2, before i install ODT11beta my sqlplus look fine thought cmd but after i installed ODT11beta its same problem with my Vista sp2 now. Get error ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error :( I tried uninstall ODT11beta again and restart its work fine again. Which i really dun understand. Izzit the version ODT11 is not suitable for 10g xe? And i dunno this problem is related with my connection between oracle 10g xe and vb2010 or not. So confuse@@
    2. I wish to know more about connect between Oracle and VB, is there still a things i miss?(I mean steps or configuration that should i done)
    3. Or i just lower my VB version could make more easy? If yes, what version VB should i use that could work out with oracle 10g xe?
    4. Sorry for too bad my english but i really wish somebody could help me. Please try to understand my written or you could ask me mean if dont understand. Im stuck!! Stuck feel not really that good.....

  • Using Tuxedo with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)

    Hi all ,
    Our present Producation environment is Tuxedo8.0 with Oracle 9i as database .
    We are planning to implement oracle RAC .
    Can any one tell us , with the current tuxedo version which is 8.0 ,can we for RAC Or we need to upgrade Tuxedo to 9.1 for RAC Implementation?
    If anyone has Implemented Tuxedo and Oracle with RAC successfully
    Pls share your experience.
    Thanks In Adavance
    Nadeer .

    Subbu,
    As I mentioned earlier in this thread, support for Oracle RAC has been
    implemented in Tuxedo 9.1 and in the Tuxedo 8.1 and Tuxedo 9.0 rolling patch
    streams. There are no plans to backport this feature to Tuxedo 8.0. If you
    plan to use RAC transactionally and if it is possible for multiple services
    that could be located on different RAC instances to be accessed in a single
    transaction (which will be true for most applications), then you should
    upgrade to a version of Tuxedo with support for Oracle RAC. The
    documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/tuxedo/tux91/ads/adorac.htm#248431
    gives an overview of RAC support in Tuxedo.

    Hello Nadeer, Hello Ed,
    Has the implementation of Tuxedo8.0 with Oracle RAC was completed
    successfully ?.
    If it is done , I have few doubts. Could you please help me ?.
    1) I hope your Tuxedo middleware connects to the oracle Database using
    Oracle XA resource manager and the TMS server built using buildtms with
    oracle as RM .As per the mail from Ed, migration of Tuxedo9.1 should be done
    before moving to Oracle RAC.
    Also from BEA documentation, Oracle RAC support was given as new feature in
    Tuxedo9.1.
    Our Application uses Oracle RM to connect to Oracle DB[ Oracle 10g] from
    Tuxedo8.0. So do we need to upgrade to Tuxedo9.1. for using Oracle RAC ?.
    Thanks for your help

  • Tuxedo with Oracle-RAC

    Tuxedo -Oracle RAC ,
    We are planning to upgrade the Tuxedo Environmet to o Support Oracle-RAC , with Single Database server with Two Instances .
    ***At the moment we have ceratin Tuxedo Services ( part of a transaction ) to connect Database , which is used by more than One Application ie The connection Services to the Databse is COMMON.***
    Eg: we have service named DBSERVICE1 , which is connecting to a datbases , which also part of a Transaction , This DBSERVICE1 is used by more than one channels ( ATM/internet banking , phone banking etc )
    we have more than one service like DBSERVICE1
    With this architecture how we can effectively achieve Tuxedo -Oracle RAC High Availability.
    Is is possible to specify in the Tuxedo Configuration  like this " if the instance1 is down , use the Instance2"?+
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Nadeer,
    In Oracle RAC 10g a single global transaction that spans more than one RAC instance, yet connected to a single database will not work, i.e., you may not get transactional integrity. To solve this problem, Tuxedo introduced RAC support by way of the TUXRACGROUPS environment variable. This environment variable tells Tuxedo about the RAC configuration, i.e., which RAC instances are connected to which RAC databases. Actually it tells Tuxedo which groups of Tuxedo servers can safely participate together in a single global transaction. Using that environment variable, Tuxedo will alter its request routing algorithm so that once a transaction is started, all subsequent service requests that are part of that transaction will only be routed to servers in Tuxedo groups that can safely participate in the transaction. So if we use a simple example where there are two RAC instances R1 and R2 connected to a single database D1 and we have Tuxedo groups G1, G2, G3, and G4, where the openinfo string for G1 and G3 connect to R1 and G2 and G4 connect to R2. If a server in G1 starts a transaction, or is called by a client that has started a transaction (assuming TUXRACGROUPS has been defined properly), Tuxedo will only route all subsequent requests that are part of that transaction to servers in G1 or G3. Thus Tuxedo will prevent a transaction from ever spanning 2 or more RAC instances connected to the same database.
    Again, I encourage you to read the documentation for RAC support in Tuxedo as it gives several examples and describes in detail how to define TUXRACGROUPS.
    Also note that this entire problem essentially goes away in Oracle RAC 11g.

  • Reference for writing COBOL prog with DB2 with ATMI calls for Oracle Tuxedo

    Hi..
    Am using IBM COBOL for AIX 2.0.0 on Oracle Tuxedo10g R3..
    And for database IBM DB2 Version 8.2..
    I have to write a program in Cobol with queries and with ATMI calls for Tuxedo..
    I need some reference manuals for this or some sample program..
    I also need the connectivity from cobol-DB2 to Tuxedo..
    Can anyone send me link for the same?
    The tutorial CSIMPAPP and STOCKAPP was really helpful..
    Am searching for the similar kind..
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
    Hopefully someone has some DB2 COBOL code to share. But in any case, using Tuxedo with COBOL and DB2 should be very similar to simply writing normal DB2 COBOL programs. The major difference is that Tuxedo will take care of making the connection to the database and should normally be allowed to perform all transaction management.
    From a configuration standpoint you'll need to add the appropriate line in the Tuxedo RM file that lists how Tuxedo needs to link DB2 XA libraries into the application. The connection information is provided in the OPENINFO string passed along to the TMS that you need to build for DB2 with the buildtms command, and finally you'll need to build your servers with the -r switch to tell Tuxedo which XA libraries need to be linked into the application.

  • Trying to simply connect to Oracle with VBscript/ASP - and I cannot.

    This is rather embarrassing. I am pretty fluent with ASP and VBscript, and I have written many a web application connecting to Microsoft SQL Server. Now I have a need to connect to an Oracle database, and I'm beating my head against the wall.
    1) Web server is Windows Server 2003 SP1
    2) Using ASP (not ASP.NET) & VBscript
    3) I have installed the Oracle drivers on the server - it is version 10g
    4) The administrator of the Oracle database to which I want to connect has created a username and password for me to use from within my code
    5) Here is the code I am trying to run:
    Set objConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objConn.Open "Provider=MSDAORA;Data Source=XXXXXXX;User Id=YYYYYYY;Password=ZZZZZZZ;"
    That's it. 2 lines of code just trying to establish a connection. Using the user name and password provided to me by the administrator, and for Data Source I am using the IP address of the Oracle server (like I have done in the past when connecting to SQL Server). I receive the following error message when viewing this in a browser:
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle error '80004005'
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    Evidently, the Data Source I am using is not correct, but I was provided no other information from the admin. This is the first time any of us have tried to connect to Oracle using ASP/VBScript, so the administrator isn't sure what I need to do ... any help would be so appreciated.

    Hello,
    I got mine to work by setting up an ODBC System DSN and connecting to it. I think this bypasses the Microsoft driver, which might be what's causing the problem.
    Set Db = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Db.Open "DSN=TEST;User ID=userid;Password=password;"
    Good luck, I've found it requires a lot of persistence...

    a remote database using the Oracle tnsping tool. I have modified the startWLS.sh
    file so that the oci901_8 libraries are used by Weblogic. I have added the following

    Hi David,
    The driver for 9.2.0 is not yet out. You may want to use the thin driver.
    You can also request this driver by filling a support case.

    These are same values I used for the tnsping which does work.

    I have looked up the errors on Oracle forums and could not get any valuable help anywhere.
    Can someone kindly help out where I am going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hello kgronau,
    Thank You very much for your recommendations.  I removed the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255.
    I added HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS=1 and also HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    Tested my sql statement, which yielded the result as follows:
    SQL> select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
    select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ㈵″㠵6
    SO I thought I would give a try of removing the line HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    and again tested my sql statement and it worked like a charm!!!!
    I tested a count(*) and got the results back.
    SQL> select count(*) from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
      COUNT(*)
           600
    I really appreciate your valuable pointers and help.
    Thanks once again!!!
    Ram.
