Two dc power supply precisely timed switching

Hi,
i am trying to controll switching  between two E3631A DC Power supply with different period,in my programm i am using to timed switching  case structur for controlling DC Power switch, but because of kommunication overhead doesn‘t  timing result  always agree with specified period, how can i modify my code to precisely controll this Switching?if f anyone can give me some ideas that would be appreciated.

The on/off is part of the Configure Output function with the Enable input. There is going to be some lag between enabling the supplies because the commands will execute sequentially. It might be possible to set them both to software triggering and then issue a GET (Group Execute Trigger) bus command. That would be as close to switching them on at the same time as you are going to get. It has been a while since I've done this. I know the lower level GPIB functions has the TriggerList function for doing this but I'm not sure about VISA.
A hardware switching solution does make more sense here since you seem to desire deterministic timing.  Windows is not going to get you reliable switch timing nor is the devices communications interface (The device needs to receive and process the command before the action is taken.)  Many power supplies also have  hardware trigger inputs and outputs and can be configured to execute actions on these line state transitions.  This gets around all the communications and processing lag of the controller and allows a rapid response.

    Hi,
How can i manage to get a email if one of my power supply on a switch die (see the attached file).
I tried to activate all snmp traps possible on my switch and all i can get is configuration management events on PI.

  • New s870 came with a two wire power supply, why no three wire

I just purchased a new Toshiba S870 laptop custom made with Windows 7 from Shanghai China. The laptop works flawlessly, but emits a lot of EM F radiation. It came with a two wire power supply and not like the three wire power supply that my wife's a Asus laptop came with. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the strong EMF radiation that I am recording on my tri-Field meter?
Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation?

    EZXS88W v3 andEZXS16W v2.1 - i have a 9v and a 12v linksys power brick both @1000mha. which one goes to which?
i also have a BEFSR81 v3 - with no powersupply. can anyone linkme to a GOOD seller on ebay or amazon for one please?

    EZXS88W power specs is 5V 6A, 3 PRONG and 100~240V.
    EZXS16W v2.1 Power specs is 12V 1000MA, BIG BARREL and 120VAC.
    BEFSR81 v3 Power specs is 12VDC 1000ma, BIG BARREL and 120VAC.
This are the specs for the power adapter for this devices. You will find this power adapter on any of the stores, or else you get a Universal Power Adapter which is compatible with all the Router and the Electronic Device. Just you need to adjust the power as per your Routers power specs.

  • Why my hp 625 notebook needs the power supply cable to switch on ?

The battery can register as charged but not actually put out enough juice to boot the machine. The only way to really test it is to get another known good battery. I assume this is the original battery and is at least a couple years old?

  • Monitoring 3750x and 3560x Redundant Power Supply and Fans

I need help for monitoring the redundant power supply of my switches (3750x and 3560x)
I have configured my snmp on my switches and is able to monitor interfaces, temperature and etc.
The problem is when I am monitoring the redundant power supply and fans.
I am using two Cisco C3KX-PWR-350WAC Modular Power Supply per switch.
The OID I use to monitor the PSU are the following:
    Power Supply 1
    .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.5.1.3 Instance: 1003
    Power Supply 2
    .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.5.1.3 Instance: 1004
When I do an SNMP walk, the value is showing (1) which means normal.
When I simulate a power outage on power supply 1 or 2 by unplugging the power source, the value doesn't change and is still (1).
    Values: normal(1), warning(2), critical(3), shutdown(4), notPresent(5)
    As for the Fans:
When I remove the fan module, I am able to get a notification that the fans are down, but when I plug back the fan module it is now using a different instance.
Below is my config for SNMP:
    snmp-server community XXXXXXXXXXXXXX RO
    snmp-server location XXXXXX
    snmp-server contact XXXXXX
    snmp-server chassis-id Cisco3560X
snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart warmstart
    snmp-server enable traps transceiver all
    snmp-server enable traps tty
    snmp-server enable traps license
    snmp-server enable traps cpu threshold
    snmp-server enable traps syslog
    snmp-server enable traps vlancreate

    snmp-server enable traps errdisable
    snmp-server enable traps vlan-membership

Note: This problem is the same for all of my 3560X switches and 3750X switches. I am not sure if I am monitoring the wrong OID.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
You are running an old IOS code , definitely you are hitting a BUG .
there is no workaround or I would say unfirtunetely you will not be able to get the correct power supply status via SNMP.
you need to use command line for this.
I mean "show env all "
**** if you want to know the Excat BUG that your code is hitting ,please contact TAC.

  • 3750X stack with broken 715W power supply

    I have a stack of 2 WS-C3750X-48P      15.0(2)SE6            C3750E-IPBASEK9-M
Each switch has two 715W power supplies.
It happened one power supply is broken and stuck all stack. Why ?
    Thanks to all
    Alberto

Hi Charles, yes the 2 switches act like one stand alone sw
Switch 1 connected to Switch 2
    and with the second cable,
Switch 2 connected to Switch 1
There are no stack power cables.
    IOS    c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SE6.bin
Log now is   000455: Apr 21 11:00:31.065 UTC: %PLATFORM_ENV-1-FRU_PS_ACCESS: FRU Power Supply is not responding
I have only one electrical line to the rack
The problem is that a broken power supply caused to switch off all the rack.
In fact the master electrical switch of all the rack went down.
Last 3 months the same problem  happened twice to two different stacks.
Is it possible a firmware bug ?
Tell me if you need further info. Thanks a lot

  • ISR 4451-x power supply 4500W holdup time

    Hi, folks.
I'm experiencing an issue with an automatic transfer switch (AP7723) and the ISR 4451-X power supply.
When switch is transferring a power the ISR is falling to restart process (with no correlation if one or two power supply installed).
Recent specification for the ATS says that a maximum transfer time is 18ms, typical time 8-12ms
I couldn't find any reference for the holdup time for the power supply PWR-4450-AC, only those for the 4500 series (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/hardware/catalyst4500e/installation/guide/Eseries/0aspecs.html)

  • NC6320 Power Supply Pinouts required please

I have an NC6320 which the PSU has failed on. Whilst waiting for the new one to arrive I bought a Trust universal adaptor, the HP adaptor supplied with it has fallen apart and I am now stuck. I need to know, when looking into the HP plug the voltages as you look into the end,
    i.e O o .
These represent the outer metal connection the inner metal connection and the pin. They appear to be separate once you cut open the adapter
I have a variable power supply and I have cut up the broken adaptor, which the connections have broken on so I cannot find out from that, has anyone any info on which is the +ve and the 0v?
If anyone can I help I would be most grateful
    regards
    Richard

Posting for others who also later find their way here for answers:
The power supply N193 for my Pavilion DV7 notebook uses the center "ID" Pin so that HP can control which power supplies are used on their products, only their own. I suppose there could be two reasons for this, one to make sure the proper power supply is used and second to keep competitors from selling us replacement power supplies but the former reason is probably the real one.
I've done a search on this subject because my power supply has been slowly becoming erratic and today finally failed. I cut the DC side of the cable off near the power supply and have tried to measure voltages coming from it, nothing, zero. There are three wires, the center "ID" wire needs a voltage there or the computer won't power on. Here's the info I found on another web site called fixya dot com which I used as a guide to allow me to use another manufacturers power supply with the old connector plug from the HP power supply which died. I simply put a 1/4 watt 47K ohm resistor between the center ID wire of the cable and the +19 VDC wire and insulated it from the ground wire using tape. After you do that you can just wire the plus and minus or ground wires of the new power supply to the DC power cable from the bad HP power supply together as normal. The +19V wire goes to the inner shell of the DC plug and its ground goes to the outer shell of the plug. I was able to get the replacement off the shelf power supply on a military base in Afghanistan, where I am at. I can't wait two weeks to get something in the mail, had to fix this myself.
I would have included the full URL to fixya.(com) but this web site won't allow us to put URL's so here's the info:
Here is a cut and paste of the text:
I found the solution - and implemented it, it works. The blue (ID) line needs to show 7.5v. The simple way to acheive this is to simply put a 47k resistor from the +19.5v line to the ID line. Apparently there is a pull down at the computer end that means it ends up at 7.5v.
I cut the cable about 6" from the old HP power supply. I then soldered a female power socket onto the loose cable and soldered the 47k resistor between the ID line and the +19.5 line. I then plugged this onto my two pin power supply and the plugged it into my computer. It works very nicely.
Not wishing to junk the HP power supply unecessarily - it was still producing the 19.5v - I then soldered a power plug onto that ignoring the ID line. That now works as well. It seems that the circuitry that provided the 7.5v ID voltage in the HP power supply became flakey. I could have just opened up the power supply (I have already done that) and disconnected the blue line from the circuit board and just tied it to the +ve line via the 47k resistor and then wrapped it with the usual insulating tape.

  • How to run 300w of video cards with precision tower 5810 685W power supply?

I have a precision tower 5810 with 685W power supply.  In the Tech Specs it says.
Support for two PCI Express® x16 Gen 2 or Gen 3 graphics cards up to 300W (total graphics in two slots with 685W PSU)
So you should be able to run two 150w video cards but 150w video cards all seem to need two 6pin power connecters each for a total of four 6pin power connecters for two cards.  But my 5810 only has two 6pin connecters.  And I can't find anywhere to plug in more.

    150W cards have 1 pci-e connector, 75W comes from the X16 slot and 75W comes from 1 PCI-E connector.
225W  cards need 2 which gives 150W from PCI-E power and 75W from the X16 slots.
You cant use 2X  225W card.

  • Does using two bus powered external devices MacBook Pro 13" put too much strain on the power supply?

Will daisy chaining two bus powered external devices put too much strain on my 2011 MacBook Pro 13" power supply?  Specifically I would like use ProTools with a LaCie bus powered hard disc and a Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro which is also bus powered with firewire.

    Hi rrlavigne,
The biggest difference between the two machines in maximum RAM capacity. The white MacBook is limited to 4GB, whereas the MacBook Pro will support 8GB of RAM. While the cost of RAM is prohibitory right now (to go to 8GB), to have that flexibility in the future will very much be worth it... especially considering you intend to install Logic.
Other than that, I think in terms of "raw performance" the machines are very equally matched. You're paying for the unibody design, backlight keyboard, SD card and new battery technology for that $200 premium (in addition to the slight CPU bump).

  • CiscoWorks how many switches in stack + dual Power supply usage

    Hi,
Please tell me that is it possible to see in CiscoWorks that device with dual power supplies is using both or just one. e.g 6500
Also I need to count the total number of physical switches in the company but I am only able to generate a inventory report that only shows logical devices, but it do not show if the switch is stack then how many physical switches are in stack.
Is it also possible to count the total number of physical devices in the company instead of just logical devices.
    I am using the
    LMS: 1.2.0
    RME: 4.3.0
    CS:    3.3.0
    CM:   5.2.1
    DFM: 3.2.0
    Thanks.

    Thanks for reply.
In the detailed device view I am able to see that switch has 2 power supply, but but unable to see that its using either only one or both. But I understand your point that if its not visible here then its not possible.
Explainantion of my second query: My company want to know that how many physical switches has been installed. We manage over 2500 logical switches in the company and management want to have a report showing that how many total physical switches exist.
Is it possible to generate a report which shows that each logical switch contains how many physical swithes and/ or total number of physical switches in the company.
e.g MLS001 (logical switch) contains sw1 (physical switch), sw2 (physical switch), sw3 (physical switch), sw4 (physical switch)
MLS002 (logical switch) contains sw1 (physical switch), sw2 (physical switch)
CiscoWorks generate a report shows that 6 physical switches exist.
    Please reply ASAP. Thanks
