Twofold "Importing" question

I'm not a beginning programmer, but I am relatively new to Java. This is the first non-hello world app I have done in the language and I've run into some snags (unsurprisingly) :) I'm writing a client program to work with the company's direct-order web service, using the NetBeans IDE.
The app has two forms; one to handle the user's settings (ie name, address, company, etc.) and another to actually place orders via the web service.
I am using the SAAJ/DOM/SAX API's to do all this stuff. I understand the API's fine; in fact I've got most of the code I need written already...my problem lies in importing the requisite libraries and my own classes properly.

The "user settings" part of the program has two classes. One is a GUI form where they enter their data and the other UserSettings class has methods which store the instance data and loads settings to and from a small XML file.
What I do is instantiate the UserSettings class from the GUI form's constructor. To do this, I need to import
my UserSettings into the GUI form class. I am having absolutely no luck doing this, despite what a simple basic task it is.
I have a folder called DirectMain which contains all my classes. So at the top of both classes I write
package DirectMain;
However, it tells me that the package doesn't exist. What am I doing wrong here?
What else do I have to do to import one of my classes into another?? What should the import statement look like?

I need to import javax.xml.soap for my main class where they submit the order. So I write
import javax.xml.soap;
and it tells me that package javax.xml doesn't exist, and .soap isn't in the autocomplete list for xml....even though I used it extensively in UserSettings, which is in the exact same folder. This makes no sense to me.
***NOTE: I have copied the required files into /jre/lib/endorsed already, as per the instructions given by the web service developer kit installer. This had no effect..
Can anybody help?

Your IDE probably has its own copy of the JDK, so the fact that you put some jars in the endorsed directory probably has no effect anyway.
You just need to add the jar(s) containing the class(es) you're trying to import, into your IDE's project. How you do that is IDE-dependent.
