Type 2 mp3

While recording a 3 day festival my adobe audition 1.5 started saving in type 2 mp3 only?
I did nothing different from one day to the next, now I can not get them to convert to reg. mp3
(*2;*.mp3) is the tag after mp2PRO.
I've tried saving to wave and then back but I only have (*2:*.mp3) as an option?

  • Bit rates, file type, MP3 encoders, quality settings etc.

    Can someone provide me with or point me to a good explanation of various sound file types and settings and how it relates to sound quality and disk space? I've been importing tunes, recording some streams etc. and I realize I need a definitive source to explain to me how I can get the best sound quality, with all the variables involved: bit rate (64, 96, 128kbps etc.), file type (AIFF, WAV, MPs etc.), MP3 encoder (Apple lossless, AIFF, AAC etc.) Thanks in advance.....

    OK. The following is my opinion.
    iTunes supports 5 formats. WAV and AIFF are uncompressed and lossless. Apple Lossless Encoding (ALE) is compressed and lossless. MP3 and AAC are compressed and lossy.
    WAV, AIFF, and ALE give the same quality as a CD but are too bulky for use in an iPod. The practical choices are MP3 and AAC.
    AAC gives better quality for a given bit rate. However, it is not as widely supported as MP3. Many non-Apple players cannot handle AAC. So choose between MP3 and AAC accordingly.
    Both AAC and MP3 allow you to select an encoding bit rate, usually in the range of 32 to 320 kb/s. That number affects the audio fidelity of the compressed file as compared with the CD quality original. Given that you will be using a good stereo at least part of the time, I suggest go no lower than 192.
    You can do a web search and find listening tests, etc. You can also take a couple of tracks, rip them at 192, 256, and 320, and see if you notice anything better with the higher numbers.
    Enjoy the music!

  • GB3 SAYS CANNOT IMPORT THIS FILE TYPE - MP3

    I have long lecture (4 hours) that I'm trying to cut into a podcast. I was given WMV files which I coverted to MP3 with EASY WMA. Now when I try and import these files into GB3, I get an error saying it can't import this file type. What am I doing wrong? Is the file too big? Do I need to be using AIFF? Help please!!!

  • File Server - File size\type search and save results to file

    I already have a vb script to do what I want on our file server, but it is very inefficient and slow.  I was thinking that a powershell script may be more suitable now but I don't know anything about scripting in PS.  So far the vb code that I
    have works, and I am not the one who wrote it but I can manipulate it to do what I want it to.  The only problem is, when I scan the shared network locations it stops on some files that are password protected and I don't know how to get around it.  If
    someone else knows of a PS script to go through the file system and get all files of a certain type or size (right now, preferably size) and save the file name, size, path, owner and dates created\modified please point me to it and I can work with that.  If
    not, could I get some help with the current script that I have to somehow get around the password protected files?  They belong in a users' HOME directory so I can't do anything with them.  Here is my code:

    Accessing Excel through automation is bvery slow no matter what tool you use.  Scanning a disk is very slow for all tools.
    Since Vista all system have a search service that catalogues all major file itmes like size, extension, name and other attributes.  A search of a 1+Tb  volume can return in less that a second if you query the search service.
    You can easily batch the result into Excel by writ4ing to a CSV and opening in Excel. Use a template to apply formats.
    Example.  See how fast this returns results.
    #The following will find all log files in a system that are larger than 10Mb
    $query="SELECT System.ItemName, system.ItemPathDisplay, System.ItemTypeText,System.Size,System.ItemType FROM SystemIndex where system.itemtype='.log' AND system.size > $(10Mb)"
    $conn=New-Object -ComObject adodb.connection
    $conn.open('Provider=Search.CollatorDSO;Extended Properties="Application=Windows";')
    $rs=New-Object -ComObject adodb.recordset
    $rs.open($query, $conn)
    do{
    $p=[ordered]@{
    Name = $rs.Fields.Item('System.ItemName').Value
    Type = $rs.Fields.Item('System.ITemType').Value
    Size = $rs.Fields.Item('System.Size').Value
    New-Object PsObject -Property $p
    $rs.MoveNext()
    }Until($rs.EOF)

  • Saving as .mp3 file, but file shows up as .wav

    Been using AA 3.0.1 a long time, but can't explain why this is happening. I usually save a song as a wave file, no problem, but then I do a "save copy as", in order to make an mp3 of the song, but now my choice to save is this:
    mp3PRO (FhG) (*.wav,*.mp3).
    First off, I don't ever recall the *.wav ever being part of the file extension along with *.mp3. Secondly, after I save the file the song shows up as "mysong.wav", instead of "mysong.mp3", but looking at the file size, around 5k for a 256kbps that runs around 2:30, makes it look to be saved as an mp3 file...a wav file size would be around 25000kb.
    So, it looks like it's being saved as a .mp3 file, but showing that it was saved as a .wav file.
    How the heck did this happen, and what can I do to make sure that the publisher I'm sending an .mp3 file to, is actually getting an .mp3 file, and won't have any trouble opening it??
    Another crazy thing to mess with me and use up what little time I have...
    Harry

    Usually because an mp3 has been saved accidentally with  .wav left at the end of the name, a fairly common occurrence. Just do an mp3 Save As again and actually type .mp3 on the end of the name. This should correct Audition's adding .mp3 to the end of saved mp3s automatically again.
    I suspect that your saved file is in fact an mp3 so just rename it correcting the suffix.

  • Show columns for song "Type" and "Size" in v8 list view?

    I often sort songs and audio files by either type (mp3 / aif / AAC), or size (how many MB.)
    I can't find how to reveal these columns in v8 -- in 7 i would use command-J to reveal the "view options" dialog, then simply check the boxes to display "type" and "size"
    The new View Options dialog only has a few options for columns.
    Where did they go?
    Thanks.

    Try right clicking at the top of any column and choosing from the list that appears. If you what to display the file format/type (MP3, AAV etc.)choose "Kind".

  • Configuration to "Always ask" fails when downloading MP3 files.

    Why doesn't the configuration to "Always ask" prevent the automatic playing of a downloaded MP3 file?
    In Firefox 3.6.8 "Options" window, "Applications" tab, for "Content Type" "MP3 file (application/itunes)" and "MP3 file (audio/mpeg)," the selected action is "Always ask" for both.
    VLC Multimedia Plug-in 1.1.0.99 is installed and enabled to play the MP3 files.
    At different websites offering podcasts via MP3 files, clicking a "Download MP3/4" button or a "mp3" link causes the file to play automatically in Firefox. No dialog window opens asking what to do with the file.
    Given the configuration, why doesn't Firefox launch an "Opening " dialog window that asks whether to open or save the file?
    Other than disabling the VLC plug-in, how can Firefox be configured to "Always ask" and make it work?
    Operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
    Thank you.

    ctrl-click on the link to the file and select "Download Linked File". Once the file has downloaded onto your computer, you can then add it to your iTunes library.

  • Unable to change file type to audio book; previously able to.

    I have some audio book files (mp3) that I have added to my iTunes library and am trying to change the type to "audio book" by doing the standard right click and get info and changing to audio book etc.  However, iTunes is only actually changing them to audio books some of the time; the books that are and are not converting are both the same file type (mp3). Whenever it does not change it over, iTunes literally does not do anything (as in it does not try to change it and then fail). I am unsure what the issue is, can anyone help? Thanks!

    Hi,
    There is no preference but it turns out you can manually edit one of the preferences.xml files to force PL/SQL types to use the SQL worksheet editor. For SQL Developer 3.2.20.09.87 that file is system3.2.20.09.87\o.sqldeveloper.11.2.0.9.87\preferences.xml and will be located (on Windows 7, for example) in directory C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer
    No guarantee this will work in future versions of the product, but for now you can add the following two xml blocks...
    For example, for .pls, add to <extensionToContentTypeMap ...>
                <Item>
                   <Key>.pls</Key>
                   <Value>TEXT</Value>
                </Item>
    and <userExtensionList>
                <Item>
                   <docClassName>oracle.ide.db.model.SqlNode</docClassName>
                   <userExtensions class="java.util.ArrayList">
                      <Item class="oracle.ide.config.DocumentExtensions$ExtInfo">
                         <extension>.pls</extension>
                         <locked>false</locked>
                      </Item>
                   </userExtensions>
                </Item> I researched this a while back after reading through some forum thread where someone claimed the PL/SQL file extensions got opened in the SQL editor in his environment, but without stating any specific release information. Possibly it worked for him then due to different product behavior (whether intentional or a bug), or perhaps even due to the technique described above.

  • File type podcast

    Hi,When I douwload some podcast and I send the podcast to my mini playermusic(archos 104),most of items appears under"file type podcast".Some others appears under" file type MP3".
    I want all items under"file type MP3"...But I don't know to do it! I've tried to select items and choosing "translate file in MP3"in the itune menu,but it doesn't change,items stays under "file type podcast" in my music player.
    It 's not a problem to read them on my music player,but i would like to listen them on my other computer(from work),and that computer accept only MP3 files,not posdcast file...Is there someone who can help me?
    Tahnk you!

    Unfortunately, the setting to do that is a tag that is not user settable much less visible, if the web site has an rs feed you can add the feed and it will show up in iTunes correctly though.

  • Re:  conversion to mp3 or .wav

    I am using Adobe Photoshop to create a slideshow with digital camera pix. It has option to browse and look for music to incorporate in the show in mp3 or .wav format. When I browse and go to my music/itunes/artist/album and open the album folder, I don't see any songs (it displays only files of type mp3 or wav-- there are no other options).
    I can only assume that however itunes works, it is not in a format of mp3 or .wav. Is this a correct assumption? What format does itunes use?
    If so, how do I convert itunes format to mp3 or wav? When I click on a desired song from my library in itunes and go to "advanced" at the top I see an option "convert to AAC". What is this?
    When I simply drag from itunes library onto desktop it creates a .m4a extension. Adobe Photoshop doesn't seem to recognize this either. Any thoughts?

    AAC is a newly developed codec by a conglomeration of several companies and is used with the MPEG4 ISO standards. It is not proprietary to Apple but it is not MP3 or WAV. See:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/aac/
    http://www.vialicensing.com/products/mpeg4aac/standard.html
    If you get the "convert to AAC" selection in the menu, then your importing settings are for AAC. Go to: Edit=>Preferences=>'Advanced/Importing' tab and change your setting to MP3.
    Then select the song you want to convert and iTunes will create a new MP3 file for you.
    Post back if you have more questions.

  • Converting .wav files to .mp3 files in Adobe Audition 3

    I am trying to save a .wav file as an mp3. file.  When I go to Save As and click on file type/Mp3, it asks me if I want to overwrite the current .wav file.  When I say yes, it saves it as a .wav file.  How do get it to save as a .mp3 file?  I'm certain that there is an easy way to do this, but I'm missing it.  Any help from this knowledgeable forum would be most appreciated.
    thanks

    Next time you want to save as an MP3, type the full name of the file you want to save with the full extension in the file name box - so that would be {yourfile}.mp3. This will reset the default save to the correct extension.

  • How to block Firefox from playing mp3 and allow me to save the file

    I have upgraded to Firefox v28. I want to save a mp3 file for playing later like previous versions of Firefox. When I click the file it starts playing and does not give me the option to save the file.
    In Options the 'application' settings for file type MP3 is set to 'save file'. The quicktime plugin is disabled.
    The media.windows-media-foundation.enabled is set to false in about:config

    Try to set the Boolean pref <b>media.directshow.enabled</b> to <i>false</i> as well on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    You can also set the browser.altClickSave pref to true and hold down the Alt key when you left-click an MP3 link.

  • Help learning varous ways to burn from itunes format to mp3 cd

    If I want to make an mp3 disc from an itunes playlist, I know that you can't do it directly. Can someone help suggest what are the easiest ways (what programs) to do this. I have no 3rd party software at this time.
    Thanks, Jim

    Hi Jim,
    Yes, that seem to make sense.
    In that case you need to look at the Convert option on the Advanced menu.
    Before you do that you need to change the Import options (Preferences>Advanced>Importing) to MP3.
    Next select a track you want as an MP3 and the Convert option should now have a Convert Selection to...
    If you do this you will end up with a copy of the original in MP3 which you can then add to a new Playlist that has a criteria of type = MP3.
    When you have finished testing this don't forget to set your Import options back to what they were before.
    Regards,
    Colin R.
    ps Yes, having the option of what you want to Convert To on the Import is not the best place
