TypeError: aUrl is undefined

TypeError: aUrl is undefined chrome://browser/content/urlbarBindings.xml
It points to the following code:

<nowiki><method name="_parseActionUrl">
<parameter name="aUrl"/>

if (!aUrl.startsWith("moz-action:"))
return null;
// url is in the format moz-action:ACTION,PARAM
let [, action, param] = aUrl.match(/^moz-action:([^,]+),(.*)$/);
return {type: action, param: param};

</method></nowiki>

What might cause this error?
I get it on startup, and later (SOMETIMES) just moving the focus from the Urlbar and back again initiates another error.
If I start Fx in a safe mode from a regular mode, it happens as well.
If, however, I start Fx in a safe mode from a safe mode it doesn’t happen.
Thank you.

Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 18.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

  • I upgraded to Firefox 4. Whenever I click on the firefox icon, msg appears - "ug-in object: TypeError: id] is undefined". Only when I click OK will Firefox open up and then work as per normal. How do I get rid of error msg.

    I use an iMac OS X 10.6.7. After I upgraded to Firefox 4, this problem occurs.
    Whenever I click on Firefox icon, message appears - "ug-in object: TypeError: id] is undefined". Only after I click "OK" in the error message, does Firefox open it and I can use it to browse as per normal.
    I notice it took a long time to open up some websites.

    That indicates that you are using an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4. For details of how to troubleshoot this to find out what one is causing the problem see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • Recently, whenever I try to open Firefox, I get a dialog box: Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined (JavaScript Application). Firefox is definitely my default browser

    Question
    Recently, whenever I try to open Firefox, I get a dialog box: Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined (JavaScript Application). Firefox is definitely my default browser.
    After clicking OK Firefox opens.

    Doesn't work out for me either, so I keep it disabled, because it slows down the searches, and it won't stream its additions onto the pages after the first page of search results. Streaming or page zipping allows me to scroll down to the next page of search results without selecting the page number.

    If you close Firefox, then start Firefox in Safe Mode, does the problem still occur? For instructions on starting in Safe Mode, see [[Safe Mode]].
    Extensions can sometimes be the cause of problems. If the problem does not occur in [[Safe Mode]], then you can disable your extensions one-by-one until you find out which one is causing the problem.

  • I am getting an Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined. This only happens in firefox. Chrome or IE is not affected.

    When I open or request a page by clicking on a link I get the Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined message every time. Until I click on the ok button the page will not open. I also now have to copy and paste page addresses almost every time I open a new firefox page. This is not happening with other browsers.

    Disable "McAfee Site Advisor" extension which was just updated to 3.4.0, which probably took it out of the addons block list.
    * "Ctrl+Shift+A" > find McAfee Site Advisor and use "Disable", and then restart Firefox.
    * Do a Google Search no problem
    * It seems that if you re-enable Site Advisor again, and restart Firefox you are okay. At least you know where to look if you get the error again or Google searches slow down.

  • Updated to 6.0 and it starts with this error: Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined

    Just updated to 6.0 and now when I open it it starts with a popup box that says:Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined. If I close it it opens a new window with the same popup box. I've tried to re download but the same thing happens. Any ideas?

    # Switch back to default theme
    # If you are using '''McAfee Site Advisor''', disable it.
    # If you are not using '''McAfee Site Advisor''', disable all the extensions and try enabling one by one.

  • TypeError: self is undefined with the new Firefox 16.0.1

    I am using a Milonic DHTML Menu - JavaScript Website Navigation System. It doesnt work with the new Firefox 16.0.1.
    The error is with Firebug : TypeError: self is undefined .
    Self is referred to :
    self.scrollY;
    self.scrollX;

    Thanks zuvyte12. I also got the same problem and resolved as per your change.
    I think if we use the latest version of Milonic javascript, problem should not persist. Error was in "mmenudom.js".

  • I am getting javascript error message when opeing new window from website Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined

    when this happens the new window opens but cannot be closed except by using the X in the top right hand corner( there is a "close " link on the web page which seems to be disabled. when the PC is switched of and on again firefox opens all the same winfdows which had been closed when shutting down

    Please see solution in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions
    for "McAfee Site Advisor".
    (Windows): For best results you should uninstall '''McAfee Site Advisor''' from Control Panel > add/change programs (Programs and Features). Reboot the system. Then Reinstall from http://www.siteadvisor.com/ and reboot the system. When installing refuse other suggested (crapware) applications.

  • What does this mean when I try to open a new window "Exc in ev handl: TypeError: brw is undefined

    The above message pops up when I click on new window, once I click OK the message goes and a blank new window does appear. It has also just happened when I was in BBC language site and tried to open a link, the message appeared but once I clicked OK the message went and the link did open. It does not happen when I open a new tab. This has only just started to happen over the last few days.

    This issue can be caused by the McAfee Site Advisor extension
