TypeError: Components.classes['@softage.ru/skype/SkypeFfExtension;1'] is undefined

I keep getting this message when trying to open Firefox. I've seemed to fix it somewhat because now firefox's adress bar isn't all messed up and what not. (It wouldn't search by clicking enter and looked awful.) What can I do so that I don't have that message when opening firefox?

That is a problem with the Skype extension.

i have also got other warnings from adobe issue 10 when i try to view anything

Removing the Skype extension/add-on and restarting FF solves the problem.

After the latest update for firefox, now when I start firefox up I keep getting a pop up window that is a Java Script Application that says TypeError:Components.classes['@softage.ru/skype/skypeFfExtension;1']is undefined.

After closing this Firefox seems to work fine but this happens everytime on startup. How can I get rid of this pop up window starting everytime? Can I re-install firefox? Would I lose my bookmarks etc?

Once I disabled my Ask.com toolbar (that was installed when I installed FoxIt), the error went away.

Make sure Thunderbird isn't blocked by a personal firewall.

I started having this issue when I went to open Skype and it would not react and gave the message below. Then when I went back to firefox I got the above error message, which dissappears when I click OK and firefox will open. Skype still will not open.

That is a problem with the Skype extension. 
You will have to disable (uninstall) that extension if it isn't working properly.

That error is caused by an incompatible/malfunctioning add-on. To identify the culprit follow the procedure in the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article. One add-on that has caused this error for some is AVG safe search.

Firefox 4.0 displays an error code when launching: "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined", add-ons doesn't work and I can't open any web pages

I've been running Firefox 3.6.16 with no problems at all, and this morning decided to upgrade to Firefox 4.0, as the developer of the them I use, Foxscape, has upgraded it to work with 4.0. The installation appeared to be as normal, but when I launched 4.0, the following error message appeared: error "when launching firefox 4.0 TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". The browser launched, but while I could go to webpages if they were in my bookmarks, so no problems with my internet connection, but when I typed in a URL (for example google.co.uk) and pressed "go", nothing happened. Similarly, when I tried to go to add-ons, it was as if I hadn't clicked anything. I wondered whether it was an issue with Foxscape (although I've never had any problems before when upgrading, as the standard theme just appears) so I reverted to 3.6.16, switched the theme to standard, then tried upgrading to 4.0 again. The same thing happened, so I'm positive it's got nothing to do with Foxscape.
I run Windows Vista Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron. I also have IE 9 installed (I installed it a few weeks ago, and it's been running fine with 3.6.16). I've never had any problems with Firefox before; I'm very keen to upgrade to 4.0, and would appreciate your help in fixing this.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
