Typical HBR issues

Planning 11.1.1.3. Existing business rules work fine, but if a new one is created, it's not visible in planning without a restart of or services. Location and access priveleges are set. It's going to be a real pain if we have to restart services every time a new rule is created. Anyone encountering this with 11x. I would have thought they would iron these problems out by now. I was thinking about playing around with the hbr properties (CSS refresh, plugin refresh rates, etc) but i can't find any documentation on what they do.

I have not really come across the same issue you are experiencing in 11.1.1.3, I have been involved in a few implementations with this version and yet to hit the issue.
It does sound more like a communication or configuration issue. I know there is a slight delay between creating a business rule and it being available it planning, this information is usually refreshed automatically.
In V11 many of the properties files have been removed and put into the Shared Services registry, I must admit I am not a fan of this yet as it is making it more of an issue to problem solve and I don't feel the way it is managed from the HSS registry is a finised item yet. You can use LCM to export the properties, then update them and import them back in, or you can use a utility to update/extract information directly from the registry (info available here , though it is a messy and probably easier to go down the LCM route)
Are there any errors being produced from planning.

Hi,
What are the typical BOM issues a client could face ? I know this is a very generic question but what I am looking for is what is the best way to structure BOMs so that the stocking level is optimized. Can we use phantoms and how do we decide at what level a phantom is to be established ? I know we use phantoms for nonstock items and to reduce the number of production orders being created to manufacture a high level assembly.
Also would a phantom always be marked as "ND" MRP type? What would be the std cost of a phantom? Would it be the cost rollup of its components and the labor needed to assemble the phantom when one needs to manufacture the higher level assembly ?

Let me share my experince in terms of BOM which is crticial PP Master data durung our implemention :
What are the typical BOM issues a client could face
1.Need to understnd the product line Standard and Non Standard .Decison on Structed BOM as per the product design and then establish the same in MTS process .For MTO process , you should have BOM establishement from inquiery and quetion level to freeze the BOM .
The engineering depart ment is the crtitical part of BOM establishement .They shpuld have proper approved design and also alternative crtocial items for structured BOM.
2.Usageablity and Costing relevencey in the BOM .You can keep Universal BOM for multi purpose .
3.Engineering Change Number under ECM to investigate the validity .
4.Selection of BOM based on priority and also Selection Alternative BOM method as per SAP Standrad procedure .

Yes.You can use the Phatom assmbly as long you do not want to keep the stock physically but want to plan the dependent through Main FG where Phantom BOM will be a item .Phantom BOM genereally comes under main FG so that during MRP , it will explode the dependent alsong with Main and the cost will be subsequenlt rolled uo at header level .

No .If you keep ND , then it will not be teared through MRP and dependent will not be planned .It's usage should be production, as BOM item is a phantom assembly, the dependent requirements of the higher-level assembly are directly passed on to the components of the phantom assembly .In material master of MRP 2 view spl. procurement key - 50. Assign in BOM item - make tick mark in phantom assmbly. If you create in material master wherever the material, system consider as a phantom.If you mark in BOM, only that particular BOM, system consider as a phantom.
What would be the std cost of a phantom?
Phantom material does not need to have a standard cost becuase the costing program will ignore that particular material when calculating for the upperl level item. Instead, the cost of the components that make up the phantom assembly are taken into consideration. Any labor that is stored in the routing for the phantom assembly is also ignored if one exists.

IBook G4: no video on boot... not the typical iBook issue

Hi,
I just received an iBook G4 1.2Ghz that is broken. It powers on just fine, but no video comes up. I removed the 512MB stick it came with to see if that was the problem, to no avail. Then I connected the iBook to an external monitor, with no video on boot as well. But other than the lack of video, the iBook seems fine. No loud fans (widespread issue on the G4s) or noises from a dying HDD, etc. I can hear the hard drive spin up, but it doesn't sound like it's loading anything, so my guess is that it's actually not booting.
But it gets even stranger. I can't even shut the laptop down by holding the power button (last resort type thing). I held it for a solid 20 seconds before I gave up and removed the battery. To me, it seems like this is a logic board problem, but I could be wrong. Anyone have any insight into this? I had an iBook that had video problems based on a weak GPU connection to the logic board, but this is different.

You wouldn't happen to know if Apple still has their iBook G4 repair program going, do you? By the looks of the support website it doesn't look like it, but I thought I'd ask.
In a bit of curiosity, I decided to try the "C-clamp" fix for the iBook. Amazingly, my iBook booted properly only to have it lock up again and see the screen change to colored vertical lines after 20 seconds. Like I said in my last post, I had another iBook that had a graphics chip problem and sometimes experienced similar issues. So now I think my iBook has more than one of the common iBook G4 logic board problems. The black screen/fans one is described here:

I tried to shim that specific chip as stated per the instructions, but it didn't work. I also did the same thing to this iBook, that fixed my older G4... shim the graphics chip. But, unfortunately, I still don't have a working iBook as of now, despite the shim. I thought I made progress when I started getting the fan on every boot (there was no noise +at all+ before), but that has since gone away and I'm back where I started. I'll keep trying different things to fix the iBook, but it think a logic board replacement is going to happen sometime in the near future. Anyone know where to find them besides eBay?

(Urgent) HBR issue: Not connecting to Planning outline

Hi Everyone,
I am not being able to select the planning outline while developing business rules (but I can select the Essbase Outline).
Whenever I expand the Planning node, an error pops up the details of which says:
Error connecting to Essbase server machinename/testapp
There is a details button which says:
Could not log into Planning *"Detail:Could* *not* *log* *in* *to* *Planning* *Server".*
My application is a Classic One, and i choose "Bussines Rules" in calculation type.
I've already check the permissions, I put "Administration" for all roles.
Can anyone help me out. I am not being able to view the rules in the planning UI (and consequently cannot attach them to Forms).

Try it:-
First logout from EAS and Planning. Try to login with Planning application owner ID (if you have access):
Login to Planning App with AppOwner ID and then login EAS with same ID and PW, then goto EAS---> Business Rules---> Repository View----> New Rules----->Associated Outline and try drill to PlanningApp.
Be sure If your all services are running properly.

Issue with printing of Watermarks

OK, what I am trying to do is add a Watermark to a document which will not appear when viewed on screen but will appear when printed.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Professional Version 8 and Vista Business.
I create my Watermark and under the 'Appearance Options' link I have the 'Show when printing' option selected and the 'Show on Screen' option deselected. When I got to File - Print, it shows a small thumbnail of the document which shows the Watermark on it. However, when I then print it to my default printer, there is no watermark on it.
I have tried every option I can see regarding watermarks and am now getting frustrated. If anyone can offer any help it would be most appreciated.

OK, I was able to print it. I first tried it to print to a HPLJ III and got an overflow (typical memory issue with LJ). I then printed 2 pages to sheet with document and markup - it worked with the Uncontrolled watermark. I tried printing to a new PDF with the document and markup - got the watermark. I then printed to a network printer with the same option, but got only the document, not the watermark (I can not explain) -- even though it showed up in the preview.
I think that may be some of what you are finding also. Just for your info, this is VISTA Business, SP2, with AA8.1.6. At least it adds some information to your collection for what is happening. Of course if I select document only, then the watermark does not appear.

Error to execute HBRS

Hi my friends,
Could you help to know why when I try to execute a Sequence or a HBR from the Data Form I receive the next error "Error detected while attempting to run job:HBRNAME"
This happened just with X user, I did a test with Master user to verify connections or anything about it and everything is ok, this user is within a group that have access to validate and launch HBRS and even the user has access to tEntity Dimension.
At Planning logs I just found this:

So you are saying all other users can run this rule and not this user? If that is true check the security of that user for all dimensions and members used in the HBR.

Performance Issue with SXMB_MONI

I have a typical performance issue with SXMB_MONI, when I trigger this T.code it is taking around 20-24 hrs to execute.
Here I have found some tables which actually stores these processed xml messages,

Here I want to increase the performance of sxmb_moni, firstly I want to know from which tables does the sxmb_moni fetches data and more over is it a single table or multiple table.
And please suggest any technique which can decrease the latency time in executing sxmb_moni.

Hi,
Periodically you need to archive the XI messages, that allows you to maintain sufficient performance level.
Create archive jobs in SXMB_ADM to archive data which is 15 days old from XI related growing tables like SXMSCLUR, SXMSPEMAS, SXMSPHIST, SXMSPMAST, SXMSPVERS, SXMSPFRAW ,SWWWIHEAD. This archive job created archive files at the OS Level
For XI tables refer

SXMSPMAST, SXMSCLUP, SXMSPCLUR
the last two are cluster tables
and you won't get XML messages directly from them
have a look inside them
The classes that reads this information in SXMB_MONI are abap classes,
(can be seen at SE24) it is quite difficult to use them,
you might debug SXMB_MONI or use SE30 and see all the classes
that have been used.
You can use value mapping if you are not looking at picking up values from application system.It is just like SM30 transcation.You can get the info under SAP XI->Design and Configuration->Configuration->Value Mapping.

G5 Unusual Fan Issue - Need Help

While I have read much about the G5 fan issues, I haven't found anything that matches mine.
This is a 1.8Ghz DP running OS 10.4.9 and it is really noisy due to the 2 drive bay fans running at top speed.
All other fans run properly and respond to the air deflector removal (also checked using iStat Pro)
Apple hardware diagnostics check out fine with everything passing and ambient temperature of the drive area is fine (90 or so degrees)as well.
I understand that the drive temperature sensor controls the speed, but typically the issue has been the other way around. Would unplugging the sensor for testing hurt the logic board? Could the fan be bad? How about the FCU? the other fans seem to work as advertised.
From the sounds of it, the Thermal calibration wouldn't be needed.
Does have anybody any idea of how to correct this or can the FCU be reset? I did reset the PMU several times.

Strangely enough, the answer to the problem was that the rpm controls in both the fan and the blower of the media bay were damaged. Power spike?
While they are difficult to come by (they can't be purchased separately as they are part of the enclosure assembly) they are certainly cheaper than a logic board.
Btw, if anyone else has a similar issue, the media blower is the only truly unique part. The media fan is the same as the fan in the speaker/fan assembly which can be easily found.

Smudge on display

Hello everbody, i've encountered a quite annoying problem with my notebook display. It seems to have developed some kind of a "digital" stain i can't really get my finger on, having already searched the forum about similar issues, and none have really resembled mine. It is a smudge that is only visible on dark backgrounds and is persistent on all possible levels of backlight. I have a y50-70 with a UHD IPS display. It seems to have generated itself overnight, as i don't lend it to anybody and the display never suffered any kind of impact. The smudge looks as if some kind of very faded mould is trapped between the layers of the screen, that is my best attempt to describe its appearance. It basically looks like a tiny dispersed cloud about 15×10 mm in dimension. Probably backlight bleed in a specific pattern. It's definetely not a stain, as i tried to wipe it off gently with a screen cloth already.Two questions are at hand:-what is that weird smudge-am i going to have to face myself with a screen replacement-is this maybe just a typical Lenovo issue (i'm a Lenovo virgin so i don't really know about these things)Please, if somebody knows the answer to all this, the stain is really annoying, and i'm not really sure if warranty can cover for this, how can i even convince them that I didn't actually bang the display or something? i should also add that, if i press on the display, even gently, the smudge fades a bit.

I can't connect to the drive on my airport time machine and am receiving the message: "AirPort Time Capsule" can't be opened because the original item can't be found.

Time capsule has been working perfectly for months.
Suddenly I can't connect to the drive on my airport time capsule and am receiving the message: “AirPort Time Capsule” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.
Time machine appears to be still backing up (last backup within the last hour), but drive is not visible and I have files stored on it.
I have tried rebooting everything in order as suggested for other issues, anyone got any ideas how to see the drive again??

What OS are you running??
It is very typical Yosemite issue.
1. In airport utility does the TC show up.. if so click it.. and see the summary page which will include its IP address. That is what you are after.
From my screenshot you can see the TC address is 192.168.2.57
It might well show up briefly after a reboot or in ipad / iphone version utility. Yosemite is hopeless. The airport utility hardly works.
2. In Finder use Go, Connect to server.
Type in SMB://192.168.2.57 (replace with IP you discover).
If it is possible it will request a password.. type that in and DO NOT FORGET.. to store it in your keychain.
This will work until the TC changes IP which won't happen if it is main router.. but will happen if it is bridged.. so you need to tell me the whole network setup.
Mavericks is nearly as bad and the above instructions should be universal except I would use AFP instead of SMB. Apparently Yosemite is now totally Windows oriented.

Display alternates between dark and bright

I have several issues but I suspect somehow they are all related as they all began about the same time, within about an hour of each other, which was maybe a week ago.
Periodically, my display slowly cycles between dark and bright. Sometimes the display will suddenly go to sleep on it's own, usually after a period of about 20 seconds of me not doing something and when I wake it up the display is quite dim. Other times the computer goes to sleep (not just the display) requiring me to log back on. I use password for startup. I open the display settings after log-on and the brightness slider has somehow moved way over to the dark end (left). I slide it up to where I like it and soon it does it again all by itself again after a very short period of inactivity. I have noticed that if I leave the brightness control alone (dim) without readjusting it it seems to take longer for the other issues to develop. I would normally place the brightness slider just under half way up. My sleep time settings are currently: computer - 1 hr, display 15 min. That is plugged in which is pretty much the only way I ever seem to use it ... plugged in.
Another issue is an occaisional rapid beeping. It's the same low beep that you hear when you try to do something stupid and the computer is telling you you've made an error. The difference is this is a long, unending string of rapid beeps; I'd estimate maybe 15 - 20 beeps per second. The sound does not stop. I have to mute the speakers to shut it up. I have not yet been able to determine a recognizable pattern of common variables for when this happens. The other day when the computer went to sleep by itself and I woke it and tried to input my password and I saw that the input bar was filled with black balls as if it was remembering my password which I did not like but when I hit enter the logon dilaog box shook, the entry field emptied and refilled on it's own. I held the backspace key for several seconds and nothing seemed to happen. I used shift/command/arrow to highlight the entire string and deleted it but as soon as the characters were deleted I saw the input line quickly fill back up again one ball at a time at roughly the same rate as the beeps. Then it occured to me that the beeps were similar to those you would hear if you held a key down and filled an entire entry field with a hundred of a particular character and was still holding down the key long after the field was full. My first thought was that a key was stuck down. Not so. Each and every key is free to move and functions normally.
Last night I closed the lid to put the computer to put it sleep before I went to bed. About 3 hours later I was awakened by the sound of the rapid beeping. I got out of bed and went to the computer and opened the lid to find the same input line black balls issue but this time it was accompanied by the beeping and the display was also cycling between bright and dim. As it was the middle of the night I killed the machine by holding down the power button and forcing a shutdown. This evening I decided to do the upgrade from 10.9.1 to 10.9.2 hoping that might help but it did not. I have not heard the beeping since the upgrade but the display is still cycling, which was the first thing I noticed when all of this began.

Turns out it may have been sofware issue. I suspected software anyway because rebooting could temporarily cure it. I spoke to an Apple Service and Support person on the phone. She went through a fairly lengthy process with me to evaluate the machine and determine if it was hardware or software related. The results of those steps did not lead her to any concrete conclusions but she was able to hear the beeping issue happening in real time. She guided me through the steps of O/S recovery and now several hours later the machine appears to be functioning as it is supposed to. Typically the issue(s) would show up after maybe twenty minutes or a half hour after a hard boot. I am to monitor the thing for the next week or so watching for any signs of the issues slowly returning.
Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

Just noticed a recurring pattern of not being credited my $5 pre-order deposit.

The other day I was going over some of my Best Buy gaming purchases this year through MyBB, and noticed for one game, Project CARS on PS4, I was charged an additional $5 for the pre-order bonus (noted as "POB") which should have been free. I contacted customer support and was told I'd only be able to get a refund w. receipt in-store, and it was up to the store's discretion. As I didn't save a recipt from May, I figured it was a loss and not worth trying to make a case over $5.
Then I noticed something else. As a Gamers Club Unlocked member, all new release $59.99 games go down to $51.35 ($47.99 + tax) when the 20% deduction is applied. When accounting for the $5 deposit to reserve an in-store pre-order, the game should work out to $46.35 after tax if the transaction is processed properly. However, going through new release game pre-orders, I noticed that almost every single game I pre-ordered for in-store pickup this year was processed incorrectly and I was charged $51.35 due to not being credited the depsoit I had already paid. I didn't realize at the time, but now it appears as if has been the case for four pre-order purchases, which when added to the $5 I was charged for the pre-order bonus, works out to a $25 total overcharge. Is there any way to try and get my money back on this at this point or no? As some of these purchases were from months ago, I don't still have the receipt and even if I did, would be past the return window (though this wouldn't be a typical return issue).

You certainly shouldn’t be running into so many issues with pre-order deposits at your local Best Buy. I’m familiar with hiccups with these in the past, but I haven’t heard anything for quite some time now. Our systems are setup to automatically apply your $5 deposit to the final transaction when a game releases, so this leads me to believe that some of your pre-orders aren’t being fulfilled properly at the store level. I’m very sorry if this has occurred on any of your pre-orders!
Like others have mentioned, your local store should be able to refund any pre-order deposits necessary. We also have the ability to locate previous pre-orders/receipts, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Considering the timeframe here, you may want to ask to speak with someone from your store’s leadership team as well, should you run into any issues.

My Relative links no longer work in Captivate 7. They worked in the 5.5 versions of the exact same lessons. But they do not work after saving and re-publishing in Captivate 7. What's up with that? Any suggestions?

This is typically an issue of setting the web preference in the WINDOWS preferred programs. In Win7 this is accessed from Control Panel>Default Programs>Set Program Access...>Custom. Maybe these options will give you an idea of the problem.
