UCCX convert string to time

I am trying to have a prompt that will accept a string value of 4 digits and then take that string and convert those digits to a time value. Assuming 24 hour time format. Then take that time and compare to the current time to decide a Time of Day prompt. What I am trying to accomplish is to be able to remotely call in and set our call center to close at a specific time without having to edit the script. Does anyone know if this is possible to do? I have everything else completed but I just cannot figure out how to convert the prompt input to time.

This is fairly standard Java programming using the Calendar class. You can do this in the Expression Editor.

I have some time data being stored in a sting field that I need to make look like an actual time. It's in 24hr style (HHMM), and I'd like it to look like 12 hr (HH:MM am/pm). Is there a function already built for this?

You can use the cTime function to convert a string to time but it needs to be in the right format, for example 10:20:00.
I would suggest using the left and right functions to extract the hours and minutes as numbers and then use cTime to convert.
ctime( tonumber( left( ,2)), tonumber( right( ,2)), 0)
You can then customize the format by right clicking on the formula > Format Field and selecting the time format without seconds.

You can use the Scan from String function:
Look at the bottom for an example. If you can't get the format string right, you can configure a timestamp control/indicator to what you need and then use the properties (right click) then select Advanced at the bottom to get the string you need.
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

How to convert hex string to time stamp?

Hello everyone..
I am currently working on a project in which I have to read the data from a unit and display that data using LabVIEW. I am using serial communication for reading the data. The read data is in hex format.
Now, I want to convert this hex string to a time stamp value. I am reading total 16 bytes. How to convert this hex data to a time stamp value. I have developed a VI. But I want to know that the displayed time stamp is correct or not? Or suggest me some other solution.
I am using LabVIEW 2011.

How to convert from military time (string) to regular time?
First of all I need to let you know I'm very new to Crystal Reports, so I apologize and will need detailed instructions if possible.
I have created a Crystal Report pulling information from the received time field. On the report, the time is showing in military time (ex. 16:00:00).
How can I convert this time to normal time (ex. 4:00:00)
Since the field is a 'String' field and not a 'Time' field, I do not have the option of changing it under the field properties.
I hope someone can help with this.

As my fields were date only and not datetime, I ended up using the following,
If IsDate({CallLog.EmailRecdDate}) Then
CDate({CallLog.EmailRecdDate})
Else
CDate(0,0,0)
You answer lead me in the right direction.
I'm still having an issue with the 'Else' statment returning 12:00:00 because of the CDate(0,0,0), but I'm not sure what else I can use to return a blank space on the report. Any ideas?

I am trying to convert string (MM/dd/yyyy format) to UTC date time and store in the database.
This is what I did:
String dateAsString = "10/01/2007";
SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
formatter.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("GMT"));
formatter.setLenient(false);
java.util.date dateValue = formatter.parse(dateAsString, new ParsePosition(0));
dateValue will be Sun Sep 30 20:00:00 EDT 2007 in UTC.
Now I need to store this date and time to MS SQL database.
I used the following code:
java.sql.Date sqlDateValue = new java.sql.Date(parsedToDate.getTime());
But this code give only the date, not time 2007-09-30
Can anybody tell me how I can change this java date to sql date (or datetime?) so that I can get both date and time.

Converting String Characters into Regular Expression Automatically?

Hi guys.... is there any program or sample coding which is available to convert string characters into regular expression automatically when the program is run?
Example:
String Character Input: fnffffffffffnnnnnnnnnffffffnnfnnnnnnnnnfnnfnfnfffnfnfnfnfnfnnnnd
When the program runs, it automatically convert into this :
Regular Expression Output: f*d

hey guys.... i am sorry for not providing all the information that you guys need as i was rushing off to urgent meeting... for my string characters i only have a to n.. all these characters are collected from sensors and stored inside database... from many demos i have done... i found out that every demo has different strings of characters collected and these string of characters will not match with the regular expressions that i had created due to several unwanted inputs and stuff... i have a lot of different types of plan activities and therefore a lot of regular expressions.... if i put [a-z|0-9]*... it will capture all characters but in the same time it will be showing 1 plan only.... therefore, i am finding ways to get the strings i collected and let it form into regular expression by themselves in the program so that it will appear as different plans as output with comparing with the regular expression that i had created.... is there any way to do so?

Need a little help converting String to date

been struggling with different variations of this after searching these forums for a while but here it is:
I have saved in a database, the date in String format created from this code:
Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
java.util.Date date = cal.getTime();
long time = date.getTime();
String today = String.valueOf(time);
The variable "today" is what I save in the DB table
Now, I want to retrieve the String and it comes in like this for example:
'1061438833530'
Now I need to convert this into:
'August 21, 2003 12:08 AM'
I have been struggling with the SimpleDateFormat object but I either get a "Unparseable date" error or it just doesn't like the data type I'm using.

But you probably aren't storing the date in the DB as a long. It's probably a timestamp or some kind of date. Use
rs.getDate()
or
rs.getTimestamp()

I create a Jdialog that I wish that it could input time of someone entering in my house.
I use jTextField2.getText() to get the String.
How could I check if it is "hh:mm:ss" format?

Converting String to byte array

There is a code for converting String to byte array, as follows:
     public byte[] toByteArray(String s)
          char[] c = s.toCharArray();
          int len = c.length;
          byte[] b = new byte[len * 2];
for ( int i = 0 ; i < len ; i++ )
     b[i * 2] = (byte)(c);
     b[(i * 2) + 1] = (byte)(c[i] >> 8);
return b;
But this isn't doing the conversion properly. For example, for the � (euro) symbol, it converts to some other unreadable symbol. Also, same is the case for square brackets. Any idea why this' so? What's wrong with the above code?

Did you try the String.getBytes(String charsetName) method?

Convert String to Date and Format the Date Expression in SSRS

I have a parameter used to select a month and year string that looks like:    jun-2013
I can convert it to a date, but what I want to do is, when a user selects a particular month-year  (let's say "jun-2013")
I populate one text box with the date the user selected , and (the challenge Im having is) I want to populate a text box next to the first text box with the month-year 2 months ahead.    So if the user selects
jun-2013   textbox A will show jun-2013
and textbox B will show aug-2013..
I have tried:
=Format(Format(CDate(Parameters!month.Value ),
"MM-YYYY" )+ 2 )   -- But this gives an error
This returns the month in number format   like "8"    for august...
=Format(Format(CDate(Parameters!month.Value ),
"MM" )+ 2 )
What is the proper syntax to give me the result    in this format = "aug-2013" ???

You can convert a string that represents a date to a date object using the util.scand JavaScript method, and then format a date object to a string representation using the util.printd method. For more information, see:

Either cast the object to a HelloWorld or use the reflection API (Google it) - with the reflection API you can discover what methods are available.
Note: if you are planning to pass in various string arguments and instantiate a class which you expect to have a certain method... you should define an interface and have all of your classes that you will call in this way implement the interface (that way you're sure the class has a method of that name). You can then just cast the object to the interface type and call the method.
