UDP responses from multiple PCs

My laptop is on a local area network that consists of the laptop, a switch, and two RF switch boxes.
Not connected to the corporate network.
According to the equpment vendor a command can be broadcast to the local network using UDP and all tthe boxes that receive the request will respond.
The VI that they gave me only shows the response for one the boxes at a time.
How do I go about modifying the VI so that the response from both boxes are received?
Attached is their VI which I have simplified. The IPv4 address is for my laptop.
The boxes are at 192.168.0.141 and 192.,168.0.142

There is no input specifically called "local broadcast address".
With "local broadcast address" I meant the "broadcast address for the local subnet".
You are always sending from your own address. That's your own unicast IP address which is automatically added to the header of all outgoing packets. The devices at the other end will respond to the broadcast with a unicast to the source IP of the received packet, i.e. your adapter. Same for the port. "open UDP" reserves a local port, which is used as source port for the outging packets. The destination port is whatever the other devices are listening at, so you have no choice.
All adapters receive messages to their assigned IP address, to the local subnet broadcast address, to the generic broadcast address (255.255.255.255) as well as to certain multicast addresses. On the local subnet, things are actually guided by the MAC address and each adapter maintains an ARP table to correctly form the ethernet header. Your local switches will know (from learning) all connnected MAC addresses and their assigned IPs and will send out any incoming packet to the right connecter. They recognize broadcasts and will automatically send them out on all other connectors. If the address is not local, the ethernet packet is set to the MAC address of the router (the default gateway) and it will read the destination IP to determine which interface (i.e. other subnet) the packet should go out, etc.
nyc wrote:
Could you explain whey the IPv4 address is being OR'd with the negate of the subnet mask?
I am clueless as to the purpose.
Well, that's the correct math, look it up! (the original code does exactly the same, but in a Rube Goldberg kind of way )
For example if your IP address is:
192.168.5.45 and the netmask is 255.255.255.0, the broadcast address is 192.168.5.255
10.47.5.45 and the netmask is 255.0.0.0, the broadcast address is 10.255.255.255
etc.
Thus the local subnet broadcast addrees can be determined from the IP address and netmask.
Note that each address is internally just a U32 integer and boolean operations will function bitwise.

  • Open same UDP port from multiple applications

I need to write to a local UDP port from one application, and read from that same UDP port from another application. (We're doing two-way communication, but use one port to send from A to B, and another port to send from B to A.) One of the applications is written in C++, and the C++ UDP open includes ReuseAddress in the socket options; there seems to be no way to specify this functionality from LV. Note that these applications are deployed to a Vista (64-bit) system with the LV Runtime (not the LV development environment).
This used to work when we were using LV 8.5 (as long as we ran the LV application before running the C++ application), but when we updated to LV
8.6.1 it no longer works -- the second application to be run cannot open the UDP port.
Sometimes the applications are run on different machines, and then everything works fine. But sometimes we need to run both applications on the same machine, and then we encounter this problem. So whatever solution we come up with, we need to be able to make it work in both configurations (same machine, or different machines).

I discovered that I can open any port (e.g., 0, and let it allocate a port for me), and then write to the port I want to write to with no problems, bypassing the problem.

  • Best way to manage FTP working from 2 PCs

Hi... am about ready to post my site from DW to our server
which is in a different time zone. I would like to be able to work
on the site from more than one PC. What is the best way to handle
this so we always have the latest files on a given PC and do not
have to download all the files each time from the server? What is
the best FTP program (we use PCs) and what routine do you use that
has been most successful? Would be most grateful if some could
point me in the right direction on this.
e-mail is [email protected] Many thanks.. Peter

    1. Share the local site between the two PCs. I do this when I
    want to work
on the same site from multiple PCs. Note, this is only
    effective when its
being used by ONE PERSON. For multiple editors, it will not
    work.
    2. Each workstation would have a local site, and they would
    share the
remote site. Enable CheckIn/CheckOut so that you have to GET
    the files from
the remote site to begin work on them, and then PUT them back
    when you are
finished. In this case, the local site is only used for
    intermediate
    edits/saves.

  • Migrating from Zune to iTunes (not happy)  - How do I sync multiple PCs & music purchases with single library?

    Apple community:
Have been fighting the change from Microsoft Zune to Apple iPod/iTunes for various reasons for a few years, but have no choice but to move now.
Under Zune I could have the Zune desktop software (similar to iTunes) installed on multiple computers (four to be exact). All four installations of the Zune software pointed to the SAME single media library (\\server\media\music), and all four computers had instant access to new media purchased across any of the four PCs.
In other words, if I purchased a song on my home office PC downstairs, if I went upstairs to my personal PC, the song I purchased on the office PC was immediately available on the other 3 PCs in the house. It was extremely convenient being able to access the same media library and purchased songs across any PC, and not have to worry about manually searching for new media and/or re-syncing, etc on every PC each time. Whatever I did in Zune on one PC was instantly replicated on the others. Very simple.
Apple iTunes on the other hand works completely different, so I'm trying to wrap my brain around how to achieve a similar solution with iTunes. I know that each iTunes installation uses a seperate library (file) for EACH PC (and then there are limits with how many computers can access a song at once, and other drawbacks).
My question is this - Is there ANY solution that allows me to have iTunes installed on multiple PCs, and be able to instatly replicate any changes to the other PCs? In other words, I would like to be able to purchase a song on one PC, and have that song immediately show up on the other PCs in the house.
The same goes for playlists. If I create a playlist on PC #1, can I edit the same playlist on PC #3, and then see those changes reflected on PC #1?
I hope that doesn't sound too confusing. Thanks in advance for help/tips.

  • Returning multiple parameters as response from a servlet

    Hii Javaites
I want a servlet to return multiple parameters as response.
In my functionality , i am callling the servlet from a swing client .
I need to get two xml strings as response from the servlet.
    Right now i am using
    PrintWriter pw=response.getWriter();
    pw.write(xmlString);
for writing xml string . but wht if i want to send another String (xmlString2) as resposne from the servlet to the swing application ?

You have several possibilities. If you control the XML formats you could unify the data into one XML message. You could modify your Swing app to make two requests. If it needs two separate pieces of info it is more logical to do it as two separate requests. If you really must do it this way, you could use the Zip classes (built in to Java) to put the two XML files together into a Zip file and then send that.

  • I deleted multiple responses from my FormCentral that had file attachments - anyway to get those back?

I deleted multiple responses from my FormCentral that had file attachments - anyway to get those back?

Thanks for the reply Michael. Here is more detailed info.
Over time, I copied CDs into itunes with my old laptop and synced them with my iphone. That laptop died so I now have a new PC where I set it to manually manage music.
I had my 'copied from CDs' songs together with 'purchased directly from iphone / itunes' songs on my iphone. I also had playlists on the phone containing a mix of this music.
I thought by activating Match, all my music contained on my iphone would be copied to the cloud. That didn't happen.
Now I have lost all my music from CDs off my phone, along with all my playlists.
The strange thing is when I connect my iphone to the PC that is set to manually manage music, I can see those lost playlists and those lost songs in the playlists, however when I click on the song I get the exclimation point.
Are the song files stored somewhere on my phone or PC? Is there anyway to get that music back?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?

I've written a program in labview 7.1 to monitor/control a labview application running in the test cell through Remote Panel. I and my coworker can remotely monitor and/or control this labview application individually. But if my coworker has the remote panel displayed on his PC and I try to get the remote panel on my PC, I get a labview error (63) as below:
"LabVIEW:  Serial port receive buffer overflow.
LabVIEW:  The network connection was refused by the server."
My question is: Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?

  • File To Proxy : Handle the response from ECC to send mail without BPM

    Hi,
    Scenario: FILE To Proxy
Requirement: We are receiving xml acknowledgement file from bank with IDoc number and status in SAP PI and the file is used to send the status number, message and and IDoc number to ECC. After request is received in ECC BAPI is executed to update the original status of outbound IDOC.
There would be multiple records in file and PI will send all IDoc acknowledgement to ECC to update the IDoc status.
Issue: Since PI send all records to ecc, if any single IDoc status update is failing in ECC how would it can be communicated to support.
ECC can send success or error response in proxy but how we can use the same in PI to send mail to support. Or is there any better error handling we can go for in such scenario.
    Thanks,
    Vertika

    Hi everyone
    thanks for response.
Interface 1: IDoc (ECC) to File (Bank) --> Done
Interface 2: Acknowledgment File (Bank) to BAPI (ECC) where BAPI will update the status of IDoc sent in first interface.
For Interface 2 : PI will receive file from Bank with multiple records i.e multiple IDoc numbers and their status. PI will invoke proxy to send the IDoc number and status number (eg 16) for all the records together. Now if BAPI fails to update status of any single IDoc in that file how support team will know that the particular record is failed. To handle this error ECC is saying they can send Error and Success back to PI. But the problem is how we can use that response in PI in the same interface to send emails to support team. Bank does not want any response back in this case. This is just to ensure proper error handling since this is bank related interface.
Splitting the interface in two interfaces will definitely help. But is there some way which can be used in same interface and based on error response from ECC mail is triggered.
If any one has better suggestion for such kind of error handling, please post the same.
    Thanks,
    Vertika

  • How to determine receiver from multiple receiver systems

    Hi all,
    I've scenario :
soap req -> XI -> req to external database -> resoponse from db to XI -> BAPI request -> response from BAPI to XI -> send response to SOAP Response.
In this scenario we have multiple SAP HR Systems. Now external database sends URL field and using that URL field I've to determine which SAP HR system is going to be used to get BAPI response.  Each SAP HR system uses the same BAPI structure.
How can I determine particular SAP HR system based on URL field.
I am using BPM for this scenario.
Is there any way I can do this whole scenario without BPM?
Please help me on this issue.
    Thank You,
    Chintan

    Hi Chintan,
Have you tried with the conditional routing with Receiver Determination.
That could probably help you to route to various SAP HR business systems based on the URL field.
For the whole flow you need BPM...but for SAP HR systems receiver determination will be sufficient.
Let me know if you need any more details on it.

  • Response from one stored proc. to another stored procedure call in JDBC

    Hi,
I have to call 2 stored procedures, where the response from first stored procedure ( an id) is mapped as a parameter to the second stored procedure call.
My question is that can this be achieved without using BPM?
Can we somehow map the response from the stored procedure 1 to stored procedure 2 parameter w/o using BPM?
I have to insert multiple rows using the stored procedure.
Should I use STATEMENT unbounded times ( which means stored procedure is called multiple times) or should I use the parameter as unbounded ( like an array, maybe define the parameter as an array in the stored procedure)?
From the performance standpoint, which approach is better?
    Please suggest.

    Hi Ardent !
I think you could use 2 mapping programs (message mapping objects) in your interface mapping. The first one, executes and returns the ID to a message type defined by you for internal use only between both stored procedure executions. The second ones uses that message type as source message and the XML required by the JDBC for the second stored procedure execution as target message type. This can be done without BPM.
    Regards,
    Matias.

  • How to get a response from the support group ?

I`ve been trying to get help to actually download Adobe elements.
When I put in my details for purchase - the system says "system error". I phoned the support group and was told that the charge on my card had gone through and they were waiting for a response from me.
    I queried "what response"and since then - nothing !
Not happy.... and this has now been going on two days and multiple entries to customer care....
I`m open to ideas - either I can download it, or cancel the transaction.

Many thanks - yes I tried that and I`m getting no response to any of the customer care queries I put in.
They took 5 hours to respond to the "chat" by which time I`d gone to do something else.
    I`ll keep trying them.
    Thanks for your help.
