UI settings in LC ES2
Please view the attached file. In LC ES2, the selected object in Heirarchy view is so similar to the background color as to be virtually indistinguishable. There MUST be some way to adjust this, but I can't find it. If there truly is not a way to increase the contrast for selected items, I BEG Adobe to fix this, as working in LC is almost intolerable otherwise.
Hint: Row4

OK I think I finally have gotten to the bottom of this.
Microsoft changed things in Vista (which carried through to Win 7 and beyond). There is a slectedItems color (that only appears if the window has focus and there is a different color for selectedItems when your window does not have focus. This is what MS added in Vista. That color is not exposed in any of the schemes so it cannot be set. That is where the light grey colour is coming from. That explains why this is happening .... now I am working on seeing if there is something we can do to remedy the situation. For now if you click on the hierarchy View your selection will take on the colour of the selectedItems color in the Windows setup.
I will update this post if I find out anything further.

How to import downloaded channel strip settings
hey guys just downloaded some new dubstep channel strip settings for the ES2 synth but cant find a way to import them in logic express 9. Thanks!!
Hi
Settings files for Channel Strips and Plugin settings can be stored in 2 basic places
<Startup Disc>: Library:Application Support:Logic
or
<User Home Folder>:Library:Application Support:Logic
The <User> items will only be available to that particular User Acount, the Main Library is available to all (this is where the Factory files are stored).
Within these directories, there are folders for Channel Strip Settings (with a different sub-directory for the different type of channel; you need to go for the Software Instrument folder), and also for Plugin Settings.
To keep your items separate from the Factory's, I'd suggest that you put your files in the User Folder.

Hello all,
I am getting an error that popped up when I made an undeploy and then tried to deploy again and what I do I could neither get rid of the error not deploy my process.
The error message says something like, "Far Dependency: name of the process is not defined in the descriptor"
I have tried every possible thing ( including deleting the problematic sub process itself ) but no luck
Does anyone have an idea how to overcome this, any similar experience?
My installation is LiveCycle ES2, patch 1, on Windows7. Workbench 9.5
Thank you,Hi Budy I got the same problem but I figure out something which is to do something with C:\Documents and Settings\yusufgoy\Workbench ES2\test_Bilgin\1.0 PoC.process_dependency file . I opened it with notepad but I couldnt save same format as before. ı m still working on it . PLEASE SOME EXPERT HELP US

Make sure to check-in all of your assets.
The installation process removes the local copy of the applications.
That means, if you have assets that are checked-out, you will loose the latest changes since they won't reside on the server.
Just make sure to check-in all you files before doing the upgrade.
JasminI think this is related to the fact that I didn't have SP1 applied to my Workbench.
It actually doesn't remove the local files, but it uses the new SP1 folder structure, which is probably why all my applications were removed from my Application view.
So be aware that if you don't have SP1, your Application view will become empty and you will have to get the applications again from the server. If you had assets that were not checked-in, you can always get them from the old folder structure under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Workbench ES2\localhost_NameOfApplication.

Hello!
I'm trying to set up a send mail task, but even after setting the taks properties or/and the server settings (SMTP server, e-mail address), I still get the following error message:
Failed to connect to email server: null. Reason: Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost, port: 25: com.adobe.idp.dsc.email.ConnectionFailedException: Failed to connect to email server: null. Reason: Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost, port: 25
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks! If you are using Send with Document, you do not need to configure your email settings in (Services> ES2 LiveCycle Process Management> Server Settings> Email Settings). These Email Settings are for sending task assignment notifications for Workspace users.
Instead, configure the settings on the "Connection Settings" tab of the Send with Document service. (NOTE: You will not see this tab unless you choose the "All" button at the top of the properties sheet).
Uncheck "Use Global Settings" and fill in the SMTP information on that tab.
If Gmail those settings are probably:
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port Number: 587
Check the box for SMTP Authentication.
SMTP User: your email address
SMTP Password: your password
SMTP Transport security: SSL
Hope this helps!

How can I get my ES2 loops to play correctly? I keep getting the message that the audio is not found when I drag the loops from my audio browser even though they play fine in the preview.
It's exactly as I stated. Whenever I try to drag these kinds of loops (ESX24 / software instrument loops? the ones marked in green with the white music note next to them) from the loop browser into the timeline a message comes up saying Audio Not Found for that loop. And a new track is created automatically when loops are dragged into the timeline, so I'm not creating some other random / synth instrument track so I'm not sure what the deal is... But perhaps I'll try creating a software instrument track first and then drag the loop into that track and see what happens - maybe there's something with the default settings that automatically creates audio tracks whenever loops are imported?

I was recording a song, finished it and everything went alright. Then I wanted to start with the recording of a new song. With the SAME plug-ins and settings as in the song before. I could record it all, but then, logic started crashing! Now, Logic crashes everytime I open up the new song as soon as I press play. But when I open up the older song, everything works just fine. I can press play without any problems, do things here and there... typical Logic stuff. So, it has to do with my new project! But why? I mean, I'm using everything the same way in both projects. Literally everything!
Now, here's one of my crash reports... please help. Please. Thanks in advance!

You won't lose any of your presets..... Because this is simply an update and not an upgrade -
No logic plug in settings seem to have installed...?
hello kind and friendly list..
so as I have mentioned elsewhere, I'm currently away from my real studio and needing to do some work moderately urgently. while waiting for a shiny new macbook pro to arrive which will make working a normal pleasant experience I hope, I'm botching together a workable logic system on my trusty email machine, a lovely (slow) PB 12"..
anyway, I've installed logic, it's all fine. I then just had to clear out some space on my small internal drive to install the logic content package.. so, I was expecting that from this point things like ultrabeat, es2 etc would have all of their preset programs installed and ready to go.. however, nope, they come up virgin with nothing. I've looked in library/app support/logic/plug-in settings, and within the folders for things like ultrabeat, it shows nothing.
hmm. I thought installing the content package would have put presets in here... ?
is there are way to know where they have gone, or how to get logic to find them if they are indeed installed somewhere, or indeed how to install the friggin things so I can get on with it?
I'm sure it will be OK on the macbook pro cos I'll be configuring a machine from scratch, doing the logic install and content all at once... but for now, I need to at least get some ultrabeat presets happening..
any ideas?thanks jord, I figured it out... I thought all the settings would get installed when I ran the disc 2 content installer. but then I put in the main logic install disc and ran the installer again and noticed that in the 'customize' thingy, there was a logic pro sound library install that had not been run yet. then I remembered that when I had originally put logic on this machine, I'd skipped all that because I didn't have that much drive space left, and I was only installing a basic logic to do some simple recording. I never intended to try and use it fully on this PB 12" which is just my email, podcast-radio and download TV machine, as it really is not up to the task of running logic the way I need it..
anyway, I selected only the remaining sound library files, installed, and hey presto all the settings are there. now all I need is for the macbook pro I ordered to show up so I can do this project I have to do properly and end the suffering of my beloved poor little PB 12", who will be thrilled to go back to playing downloaded episodes of southpark..
thanks for your input anyway.. -
Active Directory Not Syncing Correctly in ES2
Hello,
We had our Active Directory 2003 synced up using Adobe Livecycle ES. There would be around 30,000 users that would be synced and this would take around 3 - 4 1/2 minutes to run. This worked perfectly for us for the past half of a year or so.
Last week we upgraded to ES2 and moved all of our processes over. We removed ES and did a fresh install of ES2. Everything seems to be working fine now except the Active Directory isn't syncing properly. When we run the sync, different numbers of users will be fetched. Sometimes it's around three thousand, sometimes seven thousand, sometimes ten thousand, but it never seems to get through them all. In the server log it does say that the directory synchronization completed successfully though even though the number fetched is changing. We made sure the settings are exactly the same as they were before, and we even tried a few different settings, but it still doesn't get all the users. For testing purposes, we tried changing the search filter to pick specific people that aren't showing up during the normal sync and it will show up fine, so I'm wondering if there is something stopping it from going all the way through?
We also have another enterprise domain connected which has around 2,000 users on it and have not had this problem with it.
Here are some of the sync statistics from the past few syncs: (The active directory name has been stripped for security purposes). If you need any more information please feel free to ask. We would like to have this resolved as soon as possible.

======================================We do have quite a few that are missing an attribute, specifically:
2010-06-06 21:05:47,579 WARN [com.adobe.idp.um.businesslogic.synch.LdapHelper] Record [xxxx] is missing required attribute [objectSID] for canonicalName i.e uniqueIdentifier field
This is something that was on our old system as well:

We have many users in our active directory with just email accounts so that users are able to search for a name and find the email address in outlook. I have checked through these and they look fine (though there are fewer entries in ES2 since there are fewer users being fetched).
As for the locked users, here is what we received:
2010-06-06 21:05:47,579 INFO [com.adobe.idp.um.businesslogic.synch.LdapPrincipalProvider] Found [1257] locked users while synching. These users were ignored
This sounds about right for the amount of users that were fetched.

Redistilling an Encrypted PDF - Acrobat 9 Pro Extended & Livecycle Designer ES2
Hello There - a little help or advice please!
I have created a very comprehensive interactive form in Livecycle Designer ES2, complete with many interactive buttons (visible screen only).
This document is then completed on screen in Acrobat or Reader which all works fine.
For the end user, a copy of the completed and processed form need's to be distributed, purely as a Read Only document which allows no copying of text or images. I can apply these settings via Security Management in Acrobat which is fine, but all of the interactive buttons are still visible on screen and for some reason the email submit button is still active.
The perfect solution would be to use Adobe PDF printer as it also reduces the file size (which works fine with No security settings) however I am aware that encrypted files cannot be redistilled which is what I really need. Unfortunately I cannot have end users having the ability to copy the images or text within the read only document.
I've seen on the Livecycle ES2 forum that it would be possible to lock all the fields by adding script and hence make the fillable form non fillable, but it is removing the buttons and stopping the ability to copy text / images I am slightly more interested in. Any advice would be gratefully received especially if there may be a workaround.
Thankyou!I can't open the Form Tools though is what I'm saying. When I open the document in Acrobat 9 Pro I have no form tools.
I have to go to [Forms] -> [Edit Forms in Designer] in order to open the form tools.
Only when I select to open in designer I do not get the Acrobat Pro Designer, it automatically opens the document in LiveCycle and I have no option or ability to change the document designer to Acrobat Pro.
Is there some way I can "Force" the docement to open in Acrobat 9 Pro designer JUST so I can add the print button? -
XSLT - Exception error when using XSLT 2.0 code in Transform on LiveCycle ES2
I'm new to using this forum, so apologies in advance in I have posted this to the wrong place.
I'm using Adobe LiveCycle ES2.5 (Jboss) and have written several complex XSLT scripts. All have worked, with the exception of the latest one in which I have to sum a repeating subnode that maynot exist and if it does, may contain a number or be empty. When I have used SUM by itself, it works perfectly if I all the nodes have values, but returns zero if any are missing or are empty. After some searching I found a solution (which I have made bold) in the fragment below.
<xsl:stylesheet version="2.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" ...>
<xsl:variable name="varUnitValueTotal" select="sum( (if(SOURCEUNITVALUE='') then 0 else SOURCEUNITVALUE) )"/>
</xsl:stylesheet>
I developed and tested this xslt in XMLSpy 2011 and it works a treat. However, when I invoke the XSLT using the Services\XSLT Transformation 1.0\Transform, I get the following exception error:
javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: Could not find function: if
at org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl.newTemplates(TransformerFactoryImpl.jav a:936)
at org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl.newTransformer(TransformerFactoryImpl.j ava:774)
at com.adobe.livecycle.xslt.XsltTransformer.transform(XsltTransformer.java:151)
Now as far as the documentation is concerned ES2 and better should be using XSLT 2.0. However to test a theory I changed the stylesheet version from 2.0 to 1.0 and re-ran the xslt in XMLSpy and it fell over at exactly the same place as the exception error. Which makes me conclude that LC ES2+ is still using XSLT 1.0.
Now I am stuck. The only work around that I can see is to attempt to do the calculation in the form (which sort of defeats the point of usng XSLT). That said I am reluctant to go down that path, since the maintenance overhead is going to be shocking if I have to apply to dozens of forms.
Is there a way to tell the Transform service to use XSLT 2.0 and if so, how and what are the settings? Or do I need to find and use a different transform engine, again if so which one should I use and what settings should I make at either JBoss and/or AdminUI level.
Really hoping that someone can help. The XSLT service is configurable.
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/LiveCycle/9.5/WorkbenchHelp/WS92d06802c76abadb-1cc35bda128261a 20dd-6750.html
1) Stop LiveCycle.
2) Add the .jars of your XSLT processor of choice to the LiveCycle server lib folder.
3) Restart LiveCycle.
4) Go to Workbench and stop the XSLT service. Right-click on XSLTService:1.0 and Edit Service Configuration.
5) Enter the factory name for the given XSLT processor. I think for Xalan 2.7.1 it is org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl (but I could be wrong).
6) Restart the service.

How do I set an instrument to hold volume in ES2
This seems like a ridiculously easy question, and perhaps I have lost my mind, but how do I change an instrument whose volume dissapates while I am holding the key down to one that holds its volume. I thought this was Decay, but the setting seem to have no effect on the instrument and perhaps some other setting is preventing it. I've compared settings to instruments that hold their volume with the key down and cannot find the variation in settings.
Hi
You need to adjust the Sustain Level of Env3 in the ES2

No OCR parameter in "File Type Settings"
The following knowledge base article suggests that there used to be an "Use OCR" parameter in the"File Type Settings" of LiveCycle PDF Generator:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402622.html
Where is this feature now located?
I want to do OCR on full page sized TIFF images or PDFs with page filling TIFF images embedded.
The output format should be PDF.
I am running a TRIAL of "LiveCycle Enterprise Suite 2" Service Pack 2 Version 9.0.0.2.20100902.2.246889 including
ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® PDF Generator ES2
ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® Barcoded Forms ES2
ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® Reader Extensions ES2
ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® Rights Management ES2
ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® Process Management ES2Servus Axel
Besten Dank für den Hinweis.
Das ist genau die Lösung, die wir infolge dessen auch gewählt haben.

To Upgrade or Install New for ES2?
We currently have LiveCycle ES (v8.2 SP3)/JBOSS installed in our environment. We are looking to move to ES2.5 (v9.5) but dont know whether to upgrade the existing [ES --> ES2 + SP2] OR create a new instance of ES2 [+SP2] on our server?
Since all of our workbench processes are short lived and we do not use Rights management i've read we can do either.. Can anyone comment on why/which method is better and why?
Is a new install quicker?
Our production environment is clustered between ServerA and ServerB. Does the clustering of our prod env, change your answer?
Our intention for the prod upgrade is
Stop locators.
Stop ServerA. All transactions goto Server B.
Upgrade Server A.
Restart Server A and stop Server B. All transactions will goto Server A.
Upgrade Server B.
Restart locators.
Env will be clustered again..Hi g5spark,
There are specific advantages/disadvantages to each of the options you have. I'm listing them below and I hope that would help you make a decision.
In case you choose to upgrade, you'll be reusing a lot of stuff from your existing installation, global document storage (GDS) directory contents and database being some of these.
The benefit of upgrade is:
1) You'll NOT have to re-create your processes in LiveCycle ES2.5
2) If you have configured an LDAP directory server, it will come pre-configured
3) If you have any custom DSCs that will also be brought forward.
4) Any configuration settings added/modified in LiveCycle Administration Console will also be retained.
5) A cluster upgrade is similar to a standalone upgrade and doesn't require anything special.
Upgrade is a little lengthier than a fresh install in the terms that:
1) You will have to shutdown your existing system and take a backup of your global document storage (GDS) directory contents and the database along with few other things described in detail in upgrade documentation.
2) You can continue to use your existing processes as is, however, if you want to take advantage of the new Application Model of LiveCycle ES2.5 you MAY have to do some manual modifications to your processes.
3) Considering that your environment is a clustered one, you must bring the entire cluster down, you cannot upgrade each cluster node independently.
In case you choose to go for a fresh installation, you cannot reuse anything from your existing insallation.
The benefit of a new install is:
1) You don't have any application downtime. Once you have your new system up and running, you can just communicate it to your users to shift from older to newer server.
2) You don't have to worry about taking backups and restoring them.
3) You will create your processes directly in the new Application Model.
Few disadvantages of a fresh install would be:
1) You'll need to write your processes from scratch which should include the time of learning the new Application Model.
2) Any custom components would have to be re-deployed.
3) Any custom configurations would have to made again.
Let me know if there are still doubts around any of the approach you are considering and I'll be happy to help.
Thanks and Regards,

Where is "Soft Stevie 1" in the ES2?? Seems it didn't copy...
Hi,
"Soft Stevie 1" is in my ES2 in Logic 7.2 on my MacBook Pro. (did not install Logic 8 yet on laptop)...
How/where can I copy it over to Logic 8 on my iMac?When you select that setting, Soft Stevie 1, do you do it by selecting an Instrument Channel, clicking on the input and selecting ES2, and then selecting the Soft Stevie 1 from the menu in the ES2? That's a plug-in Setting, and shouldn't change any the inserts on the Channel Strip. If you're doing that and other effects are appearing in the inserts then I have no answer for you. I've never seen that.
If you're doing it by selecting a Channel Strip Setting (clicking on 'Inserts' on a channel in LP7 or clicking on the 'Setting' button at the top of a channel in LP8) then it must be a Channel Strip Setting, and would add some effects in the inserts of the channel strip. You would find those settings in a folder called 'Channel Strip Settings', as opposed to the ES2 folder in 'Plug-In Settings.' Go back to your MBP, and spotlight a file with that name that has .cst instead of .pst. It should be in Library/App Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings. Grab it and do the same thing you did with the other setting file.
