UIPickerView: event for SelectionIndicator selected?

I have a custom uipickerview and wanted to be able to capture the event if the user double taps the selectionindicator. I already use the event didSelectRow: but that isn't called when the selectionindicator is double tapped.
I also tried capturing touchesBegan: but that only triggers if the taps are outside of the wheel/selection indicator region.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I tried a few things this evening to scope out your problem. I'm fairly sure there's no advantage to a UIPickerView subclass since, as you discovered, its subviews are handling touches in the region of the selection bar. There are nine subviews for a single-wheel picker, and many more for multiple wheels. UIPickerView doesn't like to add anyone else's subviews, so I soon gave up on that approach. I also tried adding a subclassed UIImageView to a row with pickerView:viewForRow:forComponent:reusingView:, but apparently the picker view is making a copy of the image instead of adding the object itself as a subview.
The only way I was able to trap touches on the selection bar was to cover it with a subview that I added to the content view. This is great for catching your double click, but of course it breaks the swiping response over the bar. I.e. you can swipe above and below the bar, but not over it.
To make a cover view work correctly I think we'd need to figure out where to forward the intercepted touch event messages. Two of the subviews have promising names (_UIPickerWheelView and _UIPickerViewSelectionBar, so I've already tried forwarding to them without any luck (though I'm not confident I handled those messages correctly; feel free to repeat that test). I think the best try would be to check all the subview frames and decide where to forward on that basis. That approach would also be general enough to provide some protection against picker view upgrades.

ABAP Web Dynpro ALV: event for "tabel selection menu" needed

Hi all,
we need to react on the "table selection menue" control in our ALV grids. We found, that event "lead_select" is triggerd, if single lines are selected and if "delete selection" from the table selection menu is used.
But if the "select all" item is used, the event is not triggered.
Is there another event we can use? Does anybody know a sensible workaround for this problem?

Event for dropdown selection

I am working on CRM 2007 icwebclient. My requirement is for BP creation either individual or organisation depending on ROLE select mandatory fields are changed.
If role 'Prospect' is selected then few fields are mandatory or if 'sold-to-party' is selected more fields are madatory..
Now which event is working behind this dropdown selection. where i have to write my code. How to set fields 'mandatory' at design time. soon reply would be appreciate.

as this really seems to be a big Issue for people. Thought as developers you might explore my hints on your own.
For switching the configuration:
Implement the P-Getter for the attribute on the context node with the following code:

Just paste the above coding into the method.
What it does:
1. Get the value you want to check from one of the context nodes.
2. Switch the UI Object type (Yes you have to define it in customizing)
3. Switch the UI Sub Object type on base of the field value. (Yes you have to define your own sub object type, this is done via a class that is assigned to your UI Object type in customizing)
For the other solution: As mentioned I have not tried it myself.
The variable on the view controller I am talking about is CONFIGURATION_DESCR of interface IF_BSP_DLC_CONFIGURATION. It has got a method GET_CONFIG_DATA that will give you the XML stream and a method SET_CONFIG_DATA. Putting the changed XML back.
If you had done a were used list for at least one of these methods you would have seen how SAP uses them.
One example: CL_BSP_WD_OVW_VIEWSET->DO_INIT_CONFIG() however this will not help you on your problem.
I know there is a method that will decode the XML stream in the single fields with their properties and there is also a counter part to it. I am afraid that many people will use it to bypass the configurations. This will make it very hard to debug the coding. Thus I will not name the class/method here!
For the sake of maintainability please stick to the first method.
I have seen people getting the XML and then hardcoding another part into it. Then someone changed the config and an error occurs. You try to find out why, but the original developer is no longer there and has not documented anything...

Table event for cell selection

Hi,
I want to be able to find out which cell was selected by the user in a table.
This is usually handled by the onLeadSelect event. However, this event is not fired if the user only changes the column in the same table row.
Is there a way to become aware of the chosen cell (InputField, which does not have to be edited, just clicked).

ALV: how to handle event for multi (lead) row selection ?

I use editable ALV and configure it for multi (lead) selection. Works fine.
But I could not find any event handler for reading the selected lines.
There is only the Event handler ON_LEAD_SELECT: this works only for 1 line
(the lead line). But I could not read multi lines. Who can help?

I cant remember if ALV sends event when multi-selection is on for each row selection.
ie as each row is selected, do you get control ?
If so, then you should still be able to call node->GET_SELECTED_ELEMENTS .

Therer are two ways you can assign an action to the "OnEnter"-event of your input field:
1. in method cl_wd_input_field=>new_input_field you have the parameter:
ON_ENTER
You just have to assign your action name to this field and it will be called on the OnEnter-event of your InputField.
e.g:
     lr_input_field = cl_wd_input_field=>new_input_field(
                                             id = 'INP_MY_INPUT_FIELD'
                                             on_enter = 'MYACTION'
2. You can use the method SET_ON_ENTER.
like:
     lr_input_field->set_on_enter( 'MYACTION' ).
Just make sure, you have created and implemented this action and its handler.

Event 0110 for own selection specification

Providing fixed data to populate T_SELTAB(providing selection criteria in such a way that the given amount will be used to clear two account 250 AED each) this is hard coded
but when I execute still system does not consider the selection data given in T_SELTAB
could you let me know the exact value that needs to be passed into T_SELTAB.
through which function module we need to pass this selection criteria.

I have not implemented BTE. Instead using FQ Events(used in ISU FICA).
I put a break point in my function module and it do gets triggered when you execute the tcode FP06
As per FQ event documentation when I tranfer my own Selection criteria to table T_SELTAB for clearing respective document system does not clear documents based on my selection rather as per standard customisation.

How To... Change the Data Type for a SELECT-OPTIONS at run time.

I am trying to restrict the values available for entry into a SELECT-OPTIONS at run time depending on user input.
The logic is as follows. The user has two input fields. A PARAMETER field which has the type RSDIOBJNM and allows them to choose an InfoObject. And the user has a SELECT-OPTIONS field to allow them to select the Characteristic values for that InfoObject.
I would like the following example to be possible:
The user enters 0MATERIAL into the PARAMETER. When the user clicks on the SELECT-OPTIONS control code will derive a list of possible options the user can enter in the SELECT-OPTIONS. In this case only values found in the master data or at least no values greater than 18 characters.
I have looked at the following function module SELECT_OPTIONS_RESTRICT and this do not appear to be helpful as they only restrict on the signs allowed for the values (unless I misunderstand, it is a complex function module!).
The code I have so far is (thus the user enters a InfoObject into p_char1 and the select options so_char1 should only accept active values of that InfoObject):

You really want to restrict possible values of a select-option based on another field, not change the length of type of the select-option field, right?
Here is what you do: Code a custom F4 value help for the select-option at event AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE REQUEST FOR.. The first thing you do here is read the value of the parameter field (p_ipack in your example). You can use function module DYNP_VALUES_READ. Based on this value, you can propose values for the select-option fields. Note that the use can still enter whatever s(he) wishes in to the select-option field without pressing F4. In this case, you will have to code some input validations taking into account the value in the p_ipack field.

Need To Return Calendar Events For Current Day

I have a calendar which includes seperate start and end date fields. I need to write a query that will return events for each day in a month, but I need to be mindful of the fact that some events span multiple days. Here is my query so far which isn't working quite right.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Any assistance would be appreciated.

You have to do nested loops - one for the days of the month, and once for the query. It probably does not matter which is nested inside of what. You want your query ordered by EndDate. Then you can do something like this.

An uneventful year... (aka no events for photos taken in 2006)

Have just installed iPhoto 08 and it has upgraded my library and created events for me.
However, no photos from between March 21 2005 and February 1 2007 show up in the Events or Photos views at all! I can see these photos in their albums but there is a huge hole between 2005 and 2007 everywhere else, and it only lists '830 photos in 30 events' at the bottom of the window (I know there are a couple of thousand normally). If i select all the photos in an album and ask iPhoto to create an event it pops up a confirmation, I confirm and it looks as if it has created an event (in any case it won't let me do it again, the option is greyed out), but I still cannot see these photos in Events/Photos.
I tried deleting the album in case a photos can't be in an Event and an Album at the same time but this resulted in not being able to see the photos of that album anywhere! Luckily I have a backup...
I have tried repairing permissions, rebuilding the library, and restoring the library from backup to give iPhoto another shot at it but nothing seems to work!
How can I fix this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Threre are two ways to correct that.
1 - use the Photo's->Batch Change menu option to change the date to what you want AND write that date to the files as well.
2 - use the Photos->Adjust Date and Time menu option.
Both do pretty much the same. I've not figured out the real differences between the two but there's bound to be one. I've been able to do multiple photos at a time with each.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

How do I set a recurring event for the last day of the month on iphone 4s calendar?

I want to set a recurring event for the last day of every month - regardless of the date/number of days in the month. I'd prefer not to have to use an app to do this.

You can do this using the custom repeat in iCal. You'll need two events to cover the second and fourth Mondays.
Create the event on the second Monday of the month. In Repeat select Custom... > Frequency: Monthly > On the: second Monday.
Do the same for the Fourth Monday.

Has anyone used more than one event for one project?

I have an opinion about Final Cut Pro X that hasn't changed since my first few days with it. I waited to see if I would get used to it. But, after a fair amount of time, I still am not comfortable with 'Events' and 'Projects'. The separation of the media and projects creates more problems than solutions with my workflow.
The purpose of it was to add flexibility for both the professionals and consumers using it, but my first impressions are still the same. The new Event and Project system adds complexity to organization and archiving. I wouldn't write this if it wasn't enough of a hindrance for me, that I encounter constantly. I think the new Final Cut Pro X is incredible, but this issue is definitely important to me.
Has anyone out there used more than 1 Event for 1 Project? Some of us create more than 1 Project for an Event, to make different version of a video, or for brainstorming, or to make a part 1 and part 2 of a video, but I've never had more than 1 Event for 1 Project. I don't need to use the media from multiple Events for the same Project. And I've never used it for a reason. I don't think someone will want to use their Hawaii vacation footage for a Denver vacation project, and a Florida vacation project. I think we should bring back the connection between Events and Projects in a meaningful way.
This is a throw back to the older days, but that's not always a bad thing. Let us keep our projects, or timelines, in the Events folder. Make an area above the JPG section, and PNG section, and MOV section, and call it the Projects section. Then we can easily find our Projects and add a new Project every time we need it, and organize our files quickly - without having to keep track of more windows. Final Cut Pro X is all about being more simplified than other video programs, and I think this goes right along with that idea.

My original fear was that FCPX was just going to be iMovie Pro... It so is not!
People use the interface in different ways. I think that's what most of us like about it, it's flexibiity to accommodate different types of workflows. For me, I use the Events browser mostly like I'd be using the Finder. All the imported clips I use are referenced by the hard disks on which they reside. I know where to find them in the Event Browser and I know where to find them in the Finder. I use a lot of stock footage and therefore *reuse* a lot of stock footage from project to project. I'm not going to re-import duplicates into different events because I don't find that the least bit convenient and I do find it a terrible waste of precious HD real estate.
But that's me.
Some people like to load up everything they're going to use in a single project in a single event... I get that. You can command click your way through a bunch of clips, type E and everything is automatically arranged on your storyline in the order you selected the clips. That is *awesome*!! Instant storyline (/timeline.) Furthermore, for those that need to share projects, it's easier to bundle up the events and projects if they're all together (albeit in two different folders) on one disk (— at least they are always at the top level of the drive and easy to find.)
Keeping your Events media in a different location (satellite drives) and keeping your current project on your *fastest* drive is probably the fastest way to edit (particularly if your satellite drives are Firewire or Thunderbolt [peer-to-peer interfaces don't hog system resources].) There is little cross interference in disk accesses that way. So essentially, you can keep FCPX dealing with original clip data that doesn't need to be quite as fast, reading and writing to slower drives on your system, while letting it plow through the heavy work on your fastest access drive (usually your internal HD.)
By no means is FCPX "more simplified". It has a huge amount of power. It has all the best parts of Color, Soundtrack Pro and Motion built in. It allows you to explore *ideas* in real time rather than having to plan for them a week in advance [layout, round-tripping plans to Color, STP and/or Motion for titling or effects.] You can grab and move around elements anywhere on your "palette" with simple mouse moves and an occasional key press. The list goes on. Bottom line, it doesn't matter how you organize your events or your projects. It's all about the finished product. And for me, I can turn that around in about 1/5th the time (not claiming it's great — but I think better results in 20% of the time, on average, than it would have taken in Studio.) [Not a professional video editor -- I'm a graphic designer, and I develop Motion graphics for FCPX to make all "you guys" look better.]

Problem with onSelect event for DropdownbyIndex in the IView

I have an webdynpro for java application where I am using Dropdownby Index. I have associated onSelect event for the dropdown by index. When I launch the application in the standalone mode ( direct application launch) every thing works fine. The onSelect event for the dropdown is also working fine.
I have made an Iview of the webdynpro application. Here on select of the dropdown box I am getting a java script error "Access Denied". Please can you suggest me how do I correct this strange problem .
I have developed the webdynpro application in NW640 SP15 .
