UJ_VALIDATION - Shared driver dimension between models

Hello Experts,
I'm having a little problem and I would like to know if you could lend me a hand to find a solution. The situation is as follows:
We are using BPC 10 NW (801 SP3) where we have a planning environment with 3 models, plus a rate model. From this 3 models, two (Mod_1 and Mod_2, for reference) are almost identical but we keep them separated because the set of users, data access profiles and administration tasks needs to be independent from one another and this was defined by the business users. One of this administration tasks happens to be data validation, for which we use UJ_VALIDATION. The validations that need to be defined in both models basically states that for a set accounts (driver dimension), for example, the ENTITY member should not be "NA", but this is not necessarily required for Mod_2 (same driver dimension) in which we don't want to have a validation in the same acoounts. For example:
Mod_1 (ACCOUNT driver dimension)
Rule 01
ACCOUNT = 410, 420, 430
COSTCENTER <> NA
Rule 02
ACCOUNT = 510, 520
ENTITY <> NA
Mod_2 (ACCOUNT driver dimension)
Rule 01
ACCOUNT = 430, 440
COSTCENTER <> NA
Rule 02
ACCOUNT = 530, 540, 550
ENTITY <> NA
Rule 03
ACCOUNT = 410, 420, 430
PRODUCT <> NA
When we tried to set this validations we found that the rules itself are linked to the driver dimension and could not be defined for each model independently. Since the same accounts are used for both models the definition is being quite troublesome. So, here comes the questions:
Is the UJ_VALIDATION working as expected? I mean, is it normal that the rules are defined at the driver dimension level and can not be defined for each model using the same driver dimension and a different set of rules for each?
If the answer to question 1 is "Yes, it's working as expected", what's the reason behind it?
What are the options available to cover this requirement? We hope that using a BAdI is our last resort as it's not very user friendly and this rules are changed constantly by the business users.
Thank you very much for your time. I hope that you could help me to find a solution.

Vadim, thanks for your reply. I see you often lending a hand to people with questions and it's much appreciated.
Regarding your answers I have a few questions. I hope you don't mind:
Too bad
Ok, it's unusual to have two similar models just for administration and security instead of one. But what happens if I have two or more very different models and I need to use the same driver dimension for each. There is not a 'standard' solution that UJ_VALIDATION could provide and keep the rules independent from one another? My situation may be a particular case, but in a general scenario I still think that keeping the rules linked to the driver dimension instead of the model itself limits it's functionality and I would like to understand better the reason behind this decision, if there's any.
Do you know where I can find a guide where it shows step by step how to implement UJ_VALIDATION_RULE_LOGIC BAdI? I don't have much knowledge in ABAP nor in BAdI implementation, so I'll need a lot of help to make this work, heh. I know that I need to learn both sometime and this may be the perfect situation to step into it.
Thanks again for your time!
Best regards,
Joaquin.

  • Sharing mappings for single dimensions between locations

    Dear all,
In our application we want to load data into essbase as well as into HFM, so we are using the two different adaptors. We though about using on the one hand locations with the essbase adaptor and on the other hand locations with the HFM adaptor.
The account mapping table is the same regardless of loading into HFM or Essbase. The problem now is, that once a mapping in the account dimension is changed in an essbase location, it should also be automatically changed for the corresponding HFM location. The solution seems to be the creation of a location with a third adaptor that contains the HFM dimensions (until UD4) as well as the additional dimensions (UD5 - ...) for Essbase. This location is then the parent location for the HFM as well as for the Essbase locations. However, according to my understanding, this third adaptor can only be connected with one system (lets say Essbase). This means that once a mapping tabel for the HFM-UD3 is updated, it will result in an error, as FDQM can not find the corresponding UD3 member in Essbase.
    1. Is there a solution for this problem, so that for some dimensions the mapping table refers to essbase metadata while for others the mapping table refers to HFM metadata?
    or:
    2. Does anyone has a proposal for an approach to share the mapping tables of certain dimensions between different locations with different adaptors?
Any comments are very much appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
You put some good thoughts in here. Have you tried to use a parent location with the 3rd adapter yet? Depending on whether the adapter of the parent or the child location has priority this might work or not. Give it a try, might be a great reference for the rest of us, so thanks for sharing your results.
The only other solution I see would be to add some scripting to sync the dimensions that you need.

    Matthias

  • Setting up a shared drive

How do you set up a external shared drive for a home network? I have a 1TB external and a 2 TB time capsule. I have a 24" IMAC wich has my Recording Studio soft ware on it. (Pro Tools, Logic Studio) running snow lepoard. I have a 21.5" IMAC which is my main surf the net and do some work desktop running Lion, and I have a 17" Macbook Pro for portability which means mostly laying in bed and surfing the web running Lion. 13" Macbook running Lion. Sony Viao 17" Laptop running Vista. Also have the IPhone 4S. Here are some of the things I would like to do.
    1.   Share photos, have a large suppository where the photo files can be accessed by any of the machines using Picassa (or suggest a better program that works with mac & pc)
    2.   Share applications between the IMAC and MACBOOK PRO.
    3.   Monitor the activities of the 13" Macbook
    4.   Share printers
    5.   Back up all to the Time Capsule
Does this need to be 5 seperate questions?

That is an easy question!!!! you know you can just make her a adminastrator and talk to her about not deleteing bad songs. That is an easier way to do it.

  • Copying files from Mac to PC network shared drives.

Copying files from Mac to PC network shared drives.
We have shared mounted drives in AIX Fusion that we can pull files from and copy to the mac, however we can not copy files from the mac to the drives.
“Error in user parameter list (-50)” With MS DOS-Formatted Volume.”
The drives are mapped on the mac using SMB. We can go to the files on the mac and use “save as” and this works and saves them on the shared drives.
We can not drag and copy them to the shared drives. Every time it fails and we get the above error. We can create folders but not move any files.
When we look up the error, it is referring to certain characters that can but used in a Max OS X filename and are not allowed in MS-DOS filenames. We are not using any of the characters not allowed.
The drives have all the basic set up in AIX, RWC. All the PC's we have can drag files to and from all our shared drives.

Either install software which enables the Mac to write to NTFS drives, or MacDrive on the PC, or reformat any drives you'll be using to share files between the computers as either FAT32 or exFAT.

  • Unable to connect shared drive on Sun host via PCNFS v5.1

I am trying to setup a shared directory on a Sun host running SunOS Release 5.6. I have an old version of PCNFS v5.1 for DOS that I require for a legacy application which seems to be setup correctly. However when I try to mount a shared drive on the Sun server I using "mt.exe" I get the message "Unable to connect the resource '/dirname' from the Server 'name'. Reason: Unrecognized RPC error number 1005." When I try to use the "net use..." command it also fails with the message "PCNFS 251F: The NET USE failed with an internal error code of 1005." I have mountd and rpc.pcnfsd running on the Sun host and would appreciate any help that can be provided. Thanks!

I have looked under Wireless/Advanced Wireless Setting, and in fact, all around in the setup, but don't have any parameter called AP Isolation. Router model is BEFW11S4.
    Any other ideas?

  • Illustrator files won't open on shared drive.

Just upgraded to Mac OS to Yosemite (10.10) and can no longer open files on a shared drive within Illustrator or other Creative Cloud apps.  However, if those files are transferred to desktop I can open them.  These exact same files were opening before going to Yosemite.  I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the apps.

    OSURecSports,
Actually, it is always recommended here to open/save from/to own harddisk and copy files/folder between own harddisk and wherever else.
Working from/to a shared drive is rsike and may go wrong, with possible corruption/loss of files.

  • SHARED DRIVE auto LOG IN -- how do I stop it from doing that?

I have two iMacs on my network running OSX10.5.7 I often share files between the two systems.
Whenever I start one of the iMacs it asks me to log into the other mac (it acually halts the startup process and waits for your response, ok or cancel.
The iMac will then continue starting up.
How can I stop this from happening? I've checked log-in items and dont see an auto mount scenario.. I am perplexed.
    HELP!
    Thank you!

This is the screen I get on startup (my system is set to auto log me in to my desktop):
"Enter your user name and password to access the file server POWERBOOK G4"
The G4 is the name of the other iMac
It then asks me to connect as: a gust or registered user. If i input my name and password, it will mount the G4's shared drive on my desktop. This happens EVERYtime I restart my iMac.
I took a photo of the screen, should you like to see it -- cant figure how to post it here.
I looked in the Directory Utility application as suggested... nothing there to delete!

  • Driver dimension and data load dim

    Hello ,
Can anyone explain the difference between Driver dimension and normal dimension..(data load dimension)
    Thank You!!!

    Hi,
Driver dimensions are the varying column dimensions that reside in the data table or file (i.e. columns such as customer, product, date etc.). Single default members from other dimensions are fixed in the POV during data load (i.e. Actual scenario is usually fixed when loading actual data).
    Cheers,

  • Difference between models G20 and G25

    Hi folks!
I've been seeking a laptop and I was amazed with Qosmio.
When I was going to order it, i noticed that there are lots of G20 models with different specifications. I also found G25 on internet searches and found no difference between G25 and G20 except that G25 TV receiver is NTSC and G20 was out on March and G25 was on June. They've the same specifications instead for the hard drive.
I live in Portugal and the only Qosmio model I can find here is G20-118. I was looking for the model that has 2x100Gb SATA HD but can't figured it out.
On internet researches i found Qosmio G20-111 that has 2x100Gb SATA HD but on the web page mentioned that it was a Pentium III processor (ridicule, isn't it?). I was looking for more reliable information.
Already searched toshiba pages and didn't find specifications for all models that i found on web searches such as G20-102, 105, 106, 108, 109, 111, 118, 123,490LS, ...
Can anyone help me with this? Is there any reliable web page where i can see the differences between models? is there any .pdf or anyone that can please give me some tips?
Money is no problem at this time to acquire the laptop, i am only looking for the higgest performance laptop!
    Best Regards

    Hi
Its very difficult to say which unit is the best, because there are many models with different parts.
Nevertheless I found page with G20 and G25 description.

  • Copying data between models

    Hi Gurus,
I need help in copying data between models. Below is the scenario.
    Model A (Source model)
    It contains plan data:
    Important dimensions: Facility, Product, Time
    Model B (Target model)
Important dimensions: Facility, Product, Time; Additional dimensions: Cost Center, Cost Element
Model C (For lookup while copying data)
Important Dimensions: Facility, Product, Time, Cost Center, Cost Element
    Task:
Copy data from A to B and populate cost center and cost element in B by lookup C (key for lookup is Facility, Product, Time)
Please let me know the required steps to do the job.
Can we do it using logic script and avoid BADI?
Which data package should I use?
    Thanks.

    Hi Vadim,
It seems like I can move the data from A to B while data gets saved in A using input screen.
So far I have written below which is working fine. For now I am hard coding the cost center, now I need to know how to lookup to the other model. Please review and let me know. Thanks.
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET P_ACCOUNT = VOLUME, REVENUE
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET P_CATEGORY = Forecast
    *DESTINATION_APP = PLANNING_RETRACTION
    *ADD_DIM COST_CENTER = 3000011
    *WHEN P_ACCOUNT
    *IS "VOLUME", "REVENUE"
    *REC(EXPRESSION = %VALUE%)
    *ENDWHEN

  • Is there a way to create a shared net conn. between Airport and Ethenet?

Is there a way to create a shared internet connection between one airport computer and another via ethernet?
I have one computer (lets call this computer 'A') connected to the net via Airport which connects to a router, which is directly connected to my ADSL line.
However, my other computer (computer 'B') is not located within range of this wireless router.
Is there a way for me to send my internet connection via computer A to computer B, via an Ethernet cable or Airport connection or otherwise?
    ADSL---Wireless Router---(Airport)---Computer A---(Ethernet)---Computer B

Is there a way for me to send my internet connection via computer A to computer B, via an Ethernet cable or Airport connection or otherwise?
Yes, it's called Internet Sharing, and here's how to set it up...
To setup for Internet Sharing (Wireless to Wired):
    Enable Software Firewall (Computer A)
System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall
o Click Stop to start the software firewall
    Setup the Network
ADSL Modem > (Ethernet cable) > (Ethernet port) Wireless Internet Router > (wireless) > (AirPort Card) Computer A (Ethernet port) > (Ethernet cable) > (Ethernet port) Computer B
    Setup Port Order (Computer A)
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
o Verify that "AirPort" and "Built-In Ethernet" are enabled.
o Verify that "AirPort" is at the top of the list, followed by "Built-In Ethernet."
    o Click "Apply Now."
Configure the Internet Connection (Computer A)
    System Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort > TCP/IP
    o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
o Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
    Enable Internet Sharing (Computer A)
System Preferences > Sharing > Internet
o Share your connection from: AirPort
o To computers using: Built-In Ethernet (checked) (Note: Uncheck all other entries in the list.)
    o Click Start

  • Help adding new Macs to the household, creating shared drive for iTunes,

    I have a few questions:
My husband and I recently both got MacBook Pros. Our former set-up was a iMac which backs up to a 500 G Time Capsule. We have a large iTunes library and iPhoto library on the iMac. The iMac is going to turn in to the kids computer. I would like to do the following:
    1. transfer photos to my MBP (#1). Will the Time Machine backup for the iMac become significantly smaller, making room for the soon to be larger backup of the MBP #1? Little confused how that is going to work.
    2. have shared access to iTunes library? basically it would be nice for all 3 computers to have the complete iTunes library, but I would also like to backup all 3 computers using Time Machine and don't want to have triplicates of the library. I was trying to figure out if the way to go is to put the iTunes on a shared drive on the Time Capsule, but is there a way for the 3 computers to 'sync' to the shared drive when new music is added? Finally, if the iTunes is within a shared drive does that mean it won't be backed up?
Much appreciation and thanks to anyone who can help make sense of this.

Update: Downloaded free version of Syncopation, and am hopeful this is going to some what solve my iTunes issue.
New question would be: when creating the Time Machine backups for MBP#1 and MBP #2 can I NOT back up the iTunes folders? That would save approx. 36G on each of these backups, right? 72G total of the Time Capsule space. And the assumption is that with Syncopation, as long as the iMac iTunes is backed up then, you have everything.

  • How many users can connect to a shared drive on a non-server workstation?

How many users can connect to a shared drive on a non-server workstation? We're waiting for our server to arrive and in the interum we're using a Pegasus 2 R6 attached to an iMac running Mavericks as our fileserver. It's been sketchy, the connection to the server being dropped once in a while or the inability to mount the drive after a week of success. The Pegasus we're using now will be attached to a server once it arrives. For now I need to figure what's coausing trouble before I commit to this being our main storage as planned. The data is backed up every night so I'm not worried, its the usability issues. 5-7 people are mounting this drive and opening/saving at the same time. Is there a limit to Maverick's fileserving ability that may be causing this? Understandable if so.

The file server in the client version of OS X has a default limit of 10 simultaneous connections. That limit can be raised by installing OS X Server, or lowered by setting a hidden preference. Assuming you've done neither, you may be able to solve the problem temporarily by stopping and restarting file sharing in the Sharing preference pane, or permanently by setting another hidden preference on the server to break idle connections quickly.
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer idleDisconnectOnOff -bool YES
Stop and restart file sharing. To reverse the change, run this command in the same way:
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer idleDisconnectOnOff -bool NO
Credit for this solution to ASC member suter:
this file server will not allow any additional users to log on

  • Can no longer connect to shared drive for Time Machine backups

I have  a Firewire drive connected to my iMac and sharing enabled. 2 MacBook Airs then connect wirelessly to the same network and backup to the drive.
It has worked perfectly for the last couple of years with Lion and Mountain Lion.
Yesterday I upgraded to Mavericks and now neither laptop can see the shared drive in Time Machine, although the drive displays quite happily in Finder.
I have disabled and re-enabled sharing.  Booted and re-plugged the drive in and still when I go to Time Machine preferences and select drive, nothing is listed.
    Any ideas?

After hours and hours of constant searching and testing I still can't get it to work?
    Any ideas?
I think sharing has changed in Mavericks.

  • Home Sharing not working between wireless PC's / devices and ethernet wired PC's on the same router.

Home Sharing is not working between wireless PC's / devices and ethernet wired PC's on the same router.  I installed a new Verizon FIOS ActionTec  MI424WR GigE wireless / ethernet router, replacing the original FIOS router.  With the old router Home Sharing worked fine across and among all iOS and Windows wired and wireless devices.  With the new router Home Sharing works between and among the Wired PC's but not between the wired PC's and the Wireless connected PC's or iOS devices.  Home Sharing also works between and among the wireless connected PC's and iOS decices but not between them and the wired PC's.
Only the router was changed.  No changes were made to any of the devices except all were updated with the latest version of iTunes 10.7.0.21 and the iSO devices were updated to iOS vrsion 6.01.  Three PC's are wired and all are running Windows 7.  There also is a Windows Home Server connected to the router by ethernet port.  It does not run iTunes but does provide WebDAV services to my iOS devices.  This works fine.  Two PC's are wireless, one running Windows 7 and one running Windows 8.  All of the PC's are connected to the same (new) router via it's ethernet ports and it's wireless access point.  Two of the wired PC's are connected via a high-speed  ethernet hup that is connected to the router (Home Sharing works fine between the two PC's on the hub and the PC on the router).  All wired and wireless devices on the router are visible and members of the router's Home/Office virtual network.
All of the PC's are visible in the Windows network and all shared files are accessable from all PC's, both wired and wireless.
Obviously the router seems to be the issue, something between the ethernet and the wireless access point components.  I checked the settings and found nothing that would prevent Home Sharing between the wired and wireless devices.  There is no setting that isolates the wireless network.  I have done the following:
Read the router user manual and checked all the settings
    Rebooted the router and tested.
Turned off the router's firewall and tested.
Home Sharing is turned on all the devices and all use the same Apple ID.
    Restarted iTunes and tested.
Verified iTunes is "Allowed" in each PC's firewall.
Again, I can Home Share between the two wireless PC's but not between either of the wireless PC's and any of the wired PC's.  I can Home Share between my iPads and iPhones and either of the two wireless PC's but not with any of the wired PC's.  I can Home Share between any of the wired PC's but not between any wired PC and a wireless PC or iOS device.
I hope someone may have had a similar problem and has a fix suggestion.  I'm stumped!  I have a;so contacked ActionTec and awaiting an answer.

    Solution from ActionTec is:
    Log into your router.
    Click the Advanced icon
    Cclick Yes
    Click on the IGMP Proxy
    Select Disable
    Click Apply
