UMT - Migration

Hello Experts:
I am using 4.x (Win -OS - Target)  upgrade management tool to migrate from 3.x (Win-OS- Source) as an incremental upgrade.
I have CMS, Input FRS, Output FRS and Report Application running on both the source and target and rest all the services(server) for BO are stopped.
I was on Committing objects stage about 50% and my source system SIA restarted and now all the services(servers) are restarted on the source system. My process to Committing objects was still running on the target. Do i have start over the complete process or it should get completed without any issues? I am concerned, as the SIA and all the services on BO source system were restarted. Is it going to impact my migration, will there be any data loss due to this?  Please share your inputs and experience with this.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I suggested the Reposcan as we are unsure if the migration happened properly as the SIA restarted
I understand that the migration was successful without errors.
But scanning  the system for inconsistencies with the tool wont cause any harm
Other thing is you can check the UMT logs in the logging folder to check for any errors in the logs
and also the event viewer logs to find the reason why SIA restarted

  • Migration (BOXI3.1 - BI4.1) using UMT via Linux command lines

    I have BO4.1 hosted on linux. I am currently doing migration from BOXI3.1 to BI4.1 and need to use linux scripts to call upgrade mgmt tool.
    This is possible only for complete migration.
    However I wanted to know:
    If it is possible to do incremental migration as well using command lines.
    What is the impact on Security Model in case of Complete Migration using command lines. Is it recommended?
    Is it possible to do incremental migration with command lines keeping BIAR file as source?

    Hi,
    Dennis is right. You can install the UMT only on Windows. With this variant you can also use an increment Upgrade even if your Destination BI 4.1 System is on LINUX.
    Doing a Full Stack installation will do the trick. You can also go ahead and install the UMT only but you need additional components (as desribed from Denis). For more info check:
    http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1743789
    And as always, when i read Upgrade Threads, i recommend you follow the Best Pactices for the UMT...makes live easier:

  • Upgrade from ICM 6 to 7 (TR) -- Domain conversion tool / UMT

    Hi, we are currently upgrading from 6 to 7.0 and subsequently to 7.5 (TR, new hardware, new domain, new instance).  So far we've staged our W2k3 domain and all the other soon to be ICM servers.
    I'm currently trying to migrate the domain users and it tells me that I need to use the Domain Conversion Tool to go migrate the domain users from 6 to 7. (Staging guide chpter 4)
    I can't find any documentation on the Domain Conversion Tool, when I run the executable I can see the different triggers (below) but that's it.
    I've done an export and gotten a file but what next?
    Do I do a convert now?
    is the convert going to change my production database?
    I'm also reading that the Domain Conversion Tool was replaced by the UMT (for 7.0 to 7.+).
    Or should I now use the UMT and point it to my export file?
    Im afraid to run the convert and and messing up my Rogger sideA database?
    Has anybody use this tool?
    any tips and or documentation is appreciated.  Thanks
    D:\ciscoutils\domainCnvTool>domcvt
    The syntax of this command is:
    DomCvt.exe /DB:dbname /F:filename /M:mode [/OD:old domain name]
              [/ND:new domain name][/P:password]
       /DB:dbname           Specifies the database name to operate on (e.g. cust1_sideA)
       /F:filename          Specifies the full path of the file to import or export to
       /M:mode              Indicates export mode or convert mode
                             E  Export mode
                             C  Convert mode
    The following switches are only needed in Convert Mode:
       /OD:old domain name  Specifies the old domain name to convert from in NetBIOS form (e.g. MyDomain)
       /ND:new domain name  Specifies the new domain name to convert to in NetBIOS form (e.g. MyDomain) or DNS form (e.g. MyDomain.mycompany.com)
       /P:password          Specifies the default password to be set for all the users in the new domain
    Use quotation marks when there are spaces in the file name or password

    Hi,
    From the 7.x(y) Staging Guide:
    Common Steps Required before Migrating any ICM ComponentOn the Domain Controllers:
    Confirm that Domain Controllers have been upgraded from NT Domain to Windows 2000Active DirectoryOn the CallRouter Server:
     \RouterA\Router\CurrentVersion\Configuration\Global\DBMaintenance.
    Note:
    If moving a CICM with SideA and SideB disable the Configuration changes on bothsides.
    On the Logger server:
    Copy the Domain Conversion Tool (DomCvt.exe) from the ICM 5.0(0) or ICM 6.0(0) Third-PartyTools CD as applicable (Domain Conversion Utility folder) onto the Logger server.
    Export the ICM user list using the DomCvt tool using the following command:
    domcvt /DB:<instancename>_sideA /F:c:\DomConvert\userlist.txt /M:E.
    And then lower down in the guide:
    On the Logger server:
    Step 18
    Run the Domain Conversion Tool to convert the ICM users exported earlier, using the followingcommand:
    domcvt /DB: <instance_name>_sideA /F:c:\DomConvert\userlist.txt /M:C /OD:<old_domain_netbios_name> /ND: <new_domain_netbios_name>Note: You can use the /p option to create a global password. If you do not use the /p option,the password is reset to null.
    I'm looking to run this myself shortly. The only caveat with this info is that its extracted from the section related to ICM5 and migration from multiple to single forest ... so possibly not the correct info. However, there's not much documentation on this as you've seen!

  • Migrating all configuration  from Crystal Reports Server XI R2 to Crystal Server 2013

    Hi,
    We're running an old Crystal Reports Server XI R2 SP version (boe 11.5)  and we're planning to start using Crystal Server 2013
    As far as I know no upgrade is possible and that's not needed either.
    Instead I'm interested in the migrate possibilities. I saw this thread but it doesn't answer all the questions https://scn.sap.com/thread/3462417
    So first I will install Crystal Server 2013 on a new server and then I use some migrate tool.
    Questions:
    - does the migrate tool support migrating from my version CR server XI R2 SP1  to  Crystal Server 2013 ?
    - does the migrate tool copy all report schduling information (recurring schedule, destination etc)? We have ~1000 scheduled reports so doing manually is not an option
    - does the migrate tool copy Business views/Business view connections ?
    (- odbc data sources are probably not copied but that's ok)
    -Mikael

    Hi Mikael,
    Since you're already on CR Server XI R2, you can use the Upgrade Management Tool to migrate all the content to CR Server 2013.
    Anwers to your questions:
    1) Yes, the Upgrade Management Tool does support this kind of migration
    2) It does seem that the UMT allows you to move all report instances as well as the scheduled jobs over to the new server
    3) I've always had issues with Business Views when using Import Wizard however I'm not sure whether they work well with the new UMT. In any case, I always prefer to export the LOVs and BVs from within the Business View Manager to a .xml file and then import them in the higher version of the Server, again, from within the Business View Manager.

  • BO XI R2 to BI 4.1 SP5 Migration

    Hi All,
    We are in the process of upgrading our BI environment. Last time, we tried the migration with below options - but it failed after 22 hours.
    -> Complete Migration
    -> Live-to-Live
    Source System:
    BO XI R2 SP2
    No. of Universes: ~150
    No. of Reports : ~28000 (Webi + Deski reports)
    File Store : 55 GB
    Target System:
    BI 4.1 SP5 (New server)
    When we analyzed the repository data, out of 28000 objects we have only 8000 reports (Public Folders + User Favouries) - it looks like rest of them are like instances. So, appreciate if you provide your recommendations/suggestions on the below points
    1. We don't want to migrate the instances to Target system. Can we go with incremental migration option (Live-to-Live), by excluding the 'Instances' in the 'Options' or any other settings required in UMT?
    2. If we want to exclude User Favourites' (wants to migrate in before going live), can we unselect the 'User Favourites' folder in UMT or do we need to select any other options?
    3. Our users only refresh their reports during working hours - only IT team can create any new reports. In this case - is it recommended to do this Live-to-Live migration during working hours (i.e) when source system is active? This is important because getting longer downtime of source system (BO XI R2) in our organization is very difficult because of business criticality.
    Appreciate your response on the above queries as it will be really helpful for us to plan accordingly.
    Thanks in advance
    regards,
    Syed Basheer

    Hi,
    Go through the link UMT Incremental Upgrade Approach for large environment?
    Also, migration of full content is possible and can be done during non working hours, if the UMT is set correctly and the RAM is good enough to accommodate the transfer. Make sure you have ample Temp directory ( 2 x FRS size )
    Instances can be unchecked only in case of incremental update. However users may want some historical data. In this case you can limit the instances in the XI R2 system.
    User favourites and inboxes are crucial. They should be migrated along with security, if not done properly, they might loose the security context and get either no privileges or complete access.
    It is recommended to do the migration activity during downtime. Live access ( any access ) to the system can cause repository access and can lead to failure of obects being updated to the target system.
    I did a complete migration recently with almost same amount of data mentioned. It took UMT 12 hours.

  • Migrate from Crystal Report Server XI R2 to new Eclipse RAS SDK Question

    Hi,
    I am migrating Crystal Report Server XI R2 RAS SDK to Eclipse RAS SDK which seems to be quite easy.
    I have the following old code which basicly programmaticly creates a Report from scratch adds a Table and then
    populates the Report with a Pojo Collection.
    <br> <br>
    Now before I would have : <br>
    <br>
    Table oTable = new Table(); <br>
    oTable.setName("reportTable"); <br>
    pbConnAttributes.putStringValue("QE_DatabaseType", "Java Beans Connectivity"); <br>
    pbConnAttributes.putStringValue(PropertyBagHelper.CONNINFO_DATABASE_DLL, "crdb_javabeans.dll"); <br>
    PropertyBag pbLogonProperties = new PropertyBag(); <br>
    pbLogonProperties.putStringValue("Java Bean Classes", className); <br>
    pbLogonProperties.putStringValue("SSOKEY", ""); <br>
    pbConnAttributes.put("QE_LogonProperties", pbLogonProperties); <br>
      pbConnAttributes.putBooleanValue(PropertyBagHelper.CONNINFO_SSO_ENABLED, false); <br>
    oTable.getConnectionInfo().setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.CRQE); <br>
    oTable.getConnectionInfo().setUserName(""); <br>
      oTable.getConnectionInfo().setPassword(null); <br>
      oTable.getConnectionInfo().setAttributes(pbConnAttributes); <br>
    //following statement throws Exception <br>
    doc.getDatabaseController().addTable(oTable, null); <br>
    <br>
    getDatabaseController().setDataSource(pojoCollection, pojoClass.class,"reportTable", "reportTable");
    <br>
    <br>
    Now wenn using the c <br>lient eclipse RAS SDK which pbConnAttributes should I use? <br>
    No matter which ones I choose I get a Bad Driver Exception or Named Exception. <br>
    Can anybody help?

  • Trouble migrating Crystal Reports Custom Functions from BOXI R2 to BOXI 3.1

    I can't seem to migrate the custom functions from the custom function repository in my R2 environment to the 3.1 with FP 1.3 environment.
    When I migrate Crystal Reports using the Import Wizard, they all come over and they retain their custom functions, however, they don't bring over or create a new custom function repository.
    When I do run the import wizard I have selected the repository radio button, but it does not have any affect .
    How can I migrate all of these custom functions without having to manually open up reports and placing them back into the repository on the new server?
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Hi,
    so if they are published to Rel.2 this looks different.
    Just to clarify it a bit more...these Files are no Datasources for Reports and Universes and your Users dont consume them via InfoView?!
    Whats the purpose for these Files? If they have none, you can de- select them in the UMT and dont migrate them (or better said move them cause you wont actually migrate .csv files). But if nobody touches them, you can move them with the UMT during daily business...how long it will take i cant estimate it. But 65GB for .CSV files is a huge amount.
    But you are correct, to move them from Rel.2 to BI4 you have to use the UMT.
    If you have the ressources and time i would recommend the following (Thats what i usually do with my customers):
    1. Setup a Machine (could be a VM) with the same OS and BOE Version (included SPs and FPs) as your production Rel.2
    2. Schedule a half day or day Downtime to copy the content 1:1 from the production Rel.2 to the VM Rel.2 with the IW or CMS DB Copy. Or do this after Business Hours.
    - With this Size of your FileStore i would recommend the CMS DB copy way.
    - Now you have a 1:1 Testing Environment of your Production Environment
    3. Use the UMT to migrate from your VM Rel.2 to your BI4 installation
    - Here you can see how long it takes
    - You can check if the UMT is capable for this 65GB transfer
    - Can sort out other possible issues
    - Do some other Testing
    After you did that you have a perfect estimation on how long the Migration will take and what for issues you are facing. With this information you can decide if you need a downtime or can do it after Business Hours f.e.

  • The migrated Crystal Report throws "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect" error

    [ENVIRONMENT]
    Product version - BI4.1 SP03
    OS - Windows 2008 R2
    CMS Database - Oracle 11g
    Java Application Server - Tomcat7
    [ISSUE]
    Using the Upgrade Management Tool to completely migrate a BOXI3.1 SP3+FP3.6 to BI4.1 SP03.  The reporting database from both BOXI3.1 and BI4.1 are the same and so is the database logon credential.
    When viewing and refresh a migrated Crystal Report, it throws "The viewer could not process an event. The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect. [] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]" error in both BI Launchpad and "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect" in scheduled job.
    [STEPS TAKEN]
    - Update the Database Configuration with the SAME Oracle database password in CMC and "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect" issue goes away.
    I search the SAP SMP and SCN forum and found no reference on this UMT and Crystal Report database logon problem.  Hope any of you have seen this problem and share if there is an ADAPT for it.
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi,
    The BI4.1 SP03 server and client and Crystal Report 2013 SP03 developer and Crystal Report for Enterprise 4.1 SP03 are all installed onto this Windows 2008 R2 server.
    I am able to open the migrated report from CMS repository in Crystal Report 2013 SP03 developer and am able to refresh it with database logon password provided.  After save it back to the Enterprise, the database logon password field for this report in CMC becomes empty so that I have to enter the database password and choose "Use same database logon as when report is run" when viewing and scheduling report.
    What is interesting to me is that the UMT seems to migrate the report along the database logon password because I can see the encrypted password in the report database logon property in CMC.  The workaround is to reenter the database logon password in the report database logon property in CMC.
    With this said, there are hundreds of the Crystal reports and the workaround would consume lots of manual work by update each report's database logon password in CMC.
    For other customers who have more crystal reports, I wonder if there is an automated way to update the crystal report's database logon password on BI4.1 or if this is an isolated incident on my new BI4.1 SP03 environment.
    I run UMT in command line to perform livetolive migration, and my steps are listed below
    cd "E:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\apps\upgradeManagementTool\jars\"
    "E:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\sapjvm\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx56g -Djava.library.path="..\..\..\..\win64_x64" -jar upgrademanagementtool.jar -internal_use_only_noversioncheck -responsefile LIVETOLIVEResponseFile.txt

  • Migrating from BI4.0 SP7 to BI4.1SP4

    Hi,
    I have set-up a new Test Business Objects server and installed BI4.1 SP4 in it and I am now planning to migrate content from our live Server (BI4.0 SP7) to our test system. I have tried using upgrade management tool and tried Live to Live and BIAR to live and got a message saying that the source should be an older version.
    Can any one please help me how to migrate all the content from BI4.0 SP7 to BI4.1 SP4? I am trying to migrate reports, universes, connections, users/groups calendars, events and QaaWS?
    This is the first time I am doing it, so any help would be great.

    Hi,
    BI 4.0 Support Pack 7 forward fits to BI 4.1 Support Pack 2
    BI 4.0 Support Pack 9 forward fits into BI 4.1 Support Pack 3
    so you should be OK.
    however, perhaps using UMT isn't the right choice here - you're not coming from XI3.1
    are you able to use LCM/ Promotion Management via the command line interface , as described here: http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/blog/2013/12/03/41-sp2-has-lots-of-performance-improvements

  • How can I Migrate/Split itunes/icloud account for a large family now that they have family sharing

    Ok, now that Apple has finally come out with family sharing I need to get things sorted out and I think it is going to be a mess. I have 6 family members (my spouse and 4 children) all sharing/using one itunes account. For parental reasons this made perfect sense. Now with the the advent of family sharing and such we have alot of sorting and migrating to do and I am very unsure how to go about it. Here is what we have.
    Myself - I have a 64GB iPad 3 and a 64GB iPhone 5
    Spouse - 64GB iPhone 5
    Children - x4 16GB iPhone 5C (pink, blue, green, and a yellow)
    We have had one itunes account now for several years, we used to have x4 16GB iphone 4's and a 16GB iPod touch 4 so we needed it to be shared at the time. We all have different Game Center ID's and Facetime/iMessages are all setup to the phone numbers (aside from mine which also uses the itunes e-mail). We currently have 1 upgraded icloud account with 200GB of storage on it (love the new tiers). So here are the questions.
    1) How do I go about using and isolating all the devices so they can all use the iCloud storage? Right now if I try and setup backups by device under the what to backup there is no simple "Full Backup" option, they have all the categories separated. I cannot backup my daughters contacts without forcing a merging of them and so on. Same thing with Documents and Data. Would I need to setup a different iCloud account for each device now?
    2) iTunes Music/App purchases. Now that they have a family sharing function I am assuming it would be a good time to separate all the devices (aside from my personal iPad/iPhone). If I understand correctly we need to setup a new itunes account for each and link them with family sharing, does this then allow us to disperse/move items from a singular to the multiple account (at least a one time option to move around) or would it simply be shared off the original account? My daughter for example will be 18 next summer and as such no longer under our care. How do we move her items to her account? She has a lot of purchased Music. Now keep in mind I am talking about an account for someone who was 12 when she had her first device and as such needed to be under her parents.
    I just want to state that repurchasing things is NOT an option, and to be frank,  according to Canadian laws pertaining to *licensing* we actually own the product if we paid for it and have the right to transfer the ownership thereof. This issue went through the courts regarding used copies of OEM editions of Microsoft Windows several years ago and they closed the legal *license* vs ownership separation.

    Go to appleid.apple.com to manage the ID, sign in and select to the Name, ID and Email Addresses section, then change the birth date on the bottom right.  At the present time you may not be able to enter the correct birth date, but others have had success changing the year to 2000, or the date to 1/1/2001, both of which will have child ID status.

  • Migrate all Open Sales Orders From Legacy System (SAP) To SAP System using

    Hi Experts,
                 I've to Migrate all Open Sales Orders From Legacy System (SAP) To SAP System using Business Objects with a new SALES ORDER DOCUMENT NUMBER referencing the older one.
               I'll get all the required data with field in an excel file.
                 Does any standard transaction exist for it ? Or how to go ahead with it ?
    Thanks and regards,
    Jyoti Shankar

    Hi
    If you are checking for CREATE option then Sales Doc Type
    For more Info goto SWO1 transaction -> BUS2032 --> DIsplay --> Execute --> There SELECT the method which you want to perform... There you can fine the MANDATORY parameters also....
    Or in DISPLAY mode PLACE Cursor on the Required Method and CLick the PARAMETERS button on toolbar...
    That will show the MANDATORY parameters...
    Reward if helpful....
