Unable to access media files on network via wirele...

Up until a month ago was able to access media files through wireless, Os is wins 7, HomeHub 2. the curious thing is no problem accessing internet wirelessly, Have reconfigured Homegroup network, changed WEP key, channel no,reset connected devises then for a couple of minutes I actually access my media files then nothing , and nothing since. unable to access Hub manager from desktop icon or internet browser now. One thing that might be pertinent is that my father has  just had YouView installed around the time the problem started. Contacted the call centre for help they came back informing me that you cannot share files through a BT Hub ! last resort sent an email . Anyone out there can throw me a line I'd much appreciate it

Try a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This will put your wireless passkey which is on the homehub label so you will need to either reconnect your devices to the default wireless passkey or change it back to what you had.

  • Unable to access shared files over network after period of time.

First off, I don't think that this issue is related to our router, but I have been searching for a fix and can not find one. We have a WRT54GS. Now, on to our issue:
At my work, we have a small network with computers sharing files between the others. I have attached a network diagram to help explain this better.
Our Win7 machine is our main computer that shares an external hard drive with much information that the other computers need to access. What we have noticed is either after a sleep, or even a period of time of say, 2 hours, those files are no longer able to be accessed. The Win7 machine is still sharing them, but the WinXP machines are unable to access them anymore and my Mac can see the computer is unable to connect to the folders. I have gone and attempted to get some help over at Microsofts site but that was a fail. Here is the link to the forum post there. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/f0a2e8d6-f75a-41d7-a280-c6f3adbffa...
A member there gave me this:
The Network connection is probably not resuming after sleep.
    First try this, http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/power_save_win7.jpg
It is in the Network Connection Properties under the Network card configuration.
If it already checked this way, or does not work after checking, the Network card has to be taken out of the computer's Power Saving loop, and stay on all the time.
Otherwise, Updating the Card with the latest OEM drivers (downloaded from the computer's support site) might help too.
On a rare occasions, some cards might be "Quirky" in this regards and need to be replaced.
--I would like to add that this DOESN'T ONLY happen after sleep, it also happens after a time of being used.
I attempted those and no luck. This problem is still occurring and the only way we can fix it is by restarting the Win7 machine. But even if it is being used, we have no idea when those files are unable to be accessed.
*I will add that the Win7 machine is still able to access the other computers when this problem occurs if that helps.
**The Win7 machine is a Dell T3500 running Windows 7 64bit. I can provide specific hardware if needed. The drivers are all up to date as of yesterday.
***So upon looking in the Windows XP machine, both of the folders from the Win7 machine disappear once this problem occurs in the My Network Places folder. And one folder is on the internal drive, one is on external. The computers are in this situation now where I am unable to access them. The Win7 machine can read and write from the other computers, but the other computers can even see the Win7 Machine.
****All the connections are wired and are not using the wireless.
Thanks for any help that anyone may have for me!

It sounds like there is incompatibility issue with XP and Win7. To isolate this, do you have another Win7 machine? Try to add it to the network and check if the shared drives are accessible after sleep. If you don't have another computer, try virtual machine and create a Win7 system.
Update your LAN card driver from the manufacturer's site. Don't use the driver from windows update.
Lastly, does this happen to your XP machines? Like, one of the XP machine sharing a folder and falls asleep. When it wakes up, does Win7 machine can still access the shared folder?

  • Unable to access a windows 7 Workstation via RDP

    Hi,
I have a windows 7 Pro SP1 workstation that I’m unable to access from any other machine via RDP...
    This is a domain environment.
The machine in question is 100% up to date. (WSUS)
It's running an up-to-date anti-virus solution and has been scanned. (Panda cloud) (No firewall)
This is on a local network, no router involved.
Can ping the machine, can see network shares.
Checked that it's listening on the correct port.
Necessary services are running and are starting correctly.
Configured RDP correctly and tried different configurations (with and without NLA and adding/removing users)
This machine seems to be able to RDP into other machines, it just wont accept any sessions.
Assigning the necessary exclusions in firewall - no effect
Firewall is disabled by GPO and I have stopped the service - no effect.
Deleted the computer certificate - no effect.
uninstalled the RDP 8 update - no effect
Tried using both the IP and hostname - no difference
I'm completely out of ideas, no other machine I tested with is having this issue and all the domain machines are running same AV and same GPO's are applied.
    Re-installation is not an option.
Below is the error - very unhelpful.
    Kind Regards,
    Stephen

I am a consumer, not a business...and not an IT professional. I am running Vista and have not installed any new software recently.
At every start-up, I get a pop-up titled Java Virtual Machine Launcher. The message says "Unable to access jar file". C:\users\user\.jnana.jnana.tsa.
Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

Using the personal hotspot feature on the iPhone 5, I am able to connect to the internet.  We also use Juniper NCP client to access our local system from a remote location.  A VPN connection is created, but I am unable to access servers in our network.  This same functionality works using my colleagues iPhone 4.
Both phones are running iOS 6.1.3.  I tried to reset network settings, but still unable to ping servers in our network.  This is a feature that our sales team relies heavily on when out of the office.  Hoping someone has some suggestions on what is different between the 2 phones.

    Hi,
Generally, this issue should be related with something called split tunneling, since you’re using a F5 vpn client, you need to look for something related to split tunneling in the F5 VPN client's documentations.
Here is an example, share it with you as a reference.

  • When i drag and drop an image on my site. it gives the following error. "Unable to access local files due to browser security settings. To overcome this, follo"

I am using the firefox version 17 and when i drag and drop an image on my website. It gives me the following error.
Unable to access local files due to browser security settings. To overcome this, follow these steps: (1) Enter "about:config" in the URL field; (2) Right click and select New->Boolean; (3) Enter "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support" (without the quotes) as a new preference name; (4) Click OK and try loading the file again. Or go to the homepage for a link to the tutorial on how to do it.
I have completed the above steps and it is still showing the same error message. Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks kumars ,
I have a specific drag and drop area on our website. This works fine for all earlier releases of Firefox after these security settings
"(1) Enter "about:config" in the URL field; (2) Right click and select New->Boolean; (3) Enter "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support" (without the quotes) as a new preference name; (4) Click OK and try loading the file again."
Bust these settings not work for me in Firefox 17.
Yes the drag and drop functionality is java script based and i am not using any script blocker addons.

    I have a new Samsung Gusto 3.
When I click on Settings- My Verizon, I get an error -  Unable to access My Verizon- Error, Network Problem, Network Unavailable. My wife has a similar phone and hers works just fine.
I have had the phone now for about two weeks and the problem is still there.
    John

I do not know what ‘data blocks’ are. This phone is brand new – now only two weeks old. I brought it to replace an older phone. That older phone had no problem accessing ‘My Verizon’ – so when I did a simple ‘replace’ of my old phone with the new one – everything should continue to work as before. BUT it does not access My Verizon.
That is all I know. When I bought the new phone, I just followed the prompts to transfer my account to the new one.
My plan is Basic pay as you go.

  • VPN connects but unable to access resources on remote network

    HI,
I'm able to ping the ASA interface once  the VPN is connected but unable to access any of the resources located on the remote network such as shares and computers. The cisco vpn client shows data being sent and recieved when I ping the interface on the ASA but it doesn't recieve any data when I attempt to ping or access other resources on the network.

  • Unable to access server files shares with Active Directory Users

    Quick breakdown of my issue.
I have setup a Yosemite file server running the latest version of Yosemite and Server.
File sharing in Server.app is enabled and shares have been created
The server is bound to my company's Active Directory and you can directly login to the computer via AD credentials.
The big issue is this, unless the user has directly walked up to my server and logged into it at least once, they cannot authenticate to the file shares via their AD credentials.
For example: Administrator (me) I can login and access all file shares without issue.
Jane Smith (SMITH) who has actually walked up to my server and logged in via her AD credentials, can also access all file shares. (That she has access to)
John Doe (JDOE) who has not logged into the server in anyway, cannot authenticate to the server file shares  at all (even though I have granted him permission) He just gets an "Access Denied" message.
I have gone into Directory Utility and changed the search order to give AD priority and this still doesn't resolve the problem.
We have unbound the server from AD and added in back again and still not able to resolve.
If you open Server.app and go to add someone from AD to a file share, it finds the AD user quickly and everything looks right. but still unable to authenticate to the server if they haven't directly logged into it before?
All of the documentation and google articles I have found say my server is setup correctly, any help would be greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks in advance!

I figured this out. In Mountain Lion Server, it doesn't matter if you give the user rights to a shared file or folder, if the user doesn't have access the File Sharing service, they can't get it. I had to find the specific users in the Server app under the AD in the Users tab, and give them rights to the File Sharing service. I think you can do this for a whole AD group as well, but I haven't tried.

  • Unable to access website using home network but able to access using school network.

Hi, I'm currently on a MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion and Safari v6.0.4.
As per the title, I'm unable to access particular websites, namely abduzeedo.com and fromupnorth.com, using my home network but when I try to access using my school network, I can access it freely.
The error message I get is: "Safari can't open the page [website] because the server where this page is located isn't responding"
I've tried clearing my cache, resetting my IP, deleting the library file (or whatever it was that some people suggested in forums) but it still doesn't work ):
    Any suggestions?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Unable to see the file share content via UNC path

I have run a cmd command to modify the NTFS permissions on a few home directories.
That command has helped me to remove all from the ACL of shared folders; and add domain admins into it.
I am an admin on that Windows server. Now, whenever I try to access any home directory via UNC path; it doesn't displays the files and folders in it. But, if I go to the server and try to open the particular home directory from there...first it gives me
a prompt that I currently do not have access on folder and then gives me an option to click on continue and then I can access the files and folders within the directory.
I am also able to see the files and folders in the directory via UNC path after doing the above steps.
Can somebody help me understand what I did wrong here and how can this be resolved now?

Sorry, am added into local administratir group. But, NTFS permissions shows that I have only "read" and "change" permissions (I have checked this from effective permissions).
The ACL of folder shows only "Domain Admins" have full access and I am not a part of AD group "Domain Admins". I think this is the root cause of the issue.
I am running below mentioned command to give myself full access on the file shares without making any changes to the current ACL of all shared folders. However, it is not working and not even throwing any error message.
    for /f %i in (u:\users.txt) do cacls \\hdfile01\users$\%i /C /G "AMadm":F
users.txt contains 'cn'. Another thing to notice here is that if I just keep one ID in .txt file and then run my command; it is working. But its not running for all users in loop.
    Can somebody please help.
