Unable to bring up ASM on 2nd node of a 2-node Cluster
Having a very wierd problem on a 2-node cluster. I can only bring up on ASM instance at a time. If i bring up the second, it hangs. This is what the second (hung) instance puts in the alert log:

After this it hangs. i've checked everything. CRS is fine.
I suspect its the kernel revision. This is a cluster of two v890's. Kernel rev is 127127-11. Anyone seen this issue ?
thanks
Responses in-line:
Have you got any issue reported from Lock Monitor's (LMON) ? (those messages are in the alert.log are summaries of the reconfiguration event.
No issues that I have seen. I see trc files on both nodes for lmon, but neither contain errors.Do you have any post issues on the date that issue began (something with Reconfiguration started) ?
This is a new build. Its going to be a DR environment (Dataguard Physical Standby), so we've never managed to get ASM up yet.Do you have any other errors on the second node on the date the issue appears (some ORA-27041 or other messages) errors?
No errors at all.What is the result of a crs_stat -t ?

ASM isn't registered with CRS/OCR yet. I did add it at one time, but it didnt seem to make any difference.What is the release of your installation 10.2.0.4? Otherwise control if you can upgrade CRS, ASM and your RDBMS to that release.
CRS, ASM and Oracle will be 10.2.0.3Can't go to 10.2.0.4 yet as primary site is at 10.2.0.3 on a live system.
Can you please tell us what is the OS / Hardware in use?
Solaris 10, Sun v890$ uname -a
SunOS dbp02 5.10 Generic_127127-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890
What is the result of that on the second node:
even a startup nomount hangs on second node.connect sqlplus / as sysdba;
startup nomount
desc v$asmdiskgroup;
select name, mount from v$diskgroup;
In the case that no group is mounted do
alter database mount diskgroup 'your diskgroupname';
What is the result of that?

Unable to bring database online on 2nd node in FailSafe and MSCS config
I have a two node cluster running Windows 2003 Server, MSCS, and Oracle Failsafe. I have been unable to bring the database online on Node2. All resources in Cluster Administrator fail over fine and come online except for the Database resource itself. The shared disks, listener, etc, are all online. All resources come online on Node1. When I failover to Node2, the Database Resource fails and posts this error in the Event Viewer:
Oracle Fail Safe encountered an error starting resource DISS.
ORA-01100: database already mounted
The database is not mounted and the database windows service is not running (is set to manual). I can manually start the database thru Windows Services and access it fine. But still unable to bring it online via Cluster Administrator or Oracle Fail Safe Manager.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!The only message in the event viewer is the ORA-01100 I originally posted.
ORACLE_HOME is set correctly.

Unable to bring up expression editor for Assign component 's source node
Hi All,
I am a beginner in BPEL and trying to create a simple hello world BPEL process in my JDev 11.1.1.5.0
The screenshots in external tutorial does not match the Assign component window.
I started a new asynchronous SOA BPEL composite and then dragged an assign component in the middle of the recieveInput and callbackClient. Now I double clicked the Assign1 icon and get the "copy Rules" tab but I do not see any LOV in the top left which would have "expression" as a value as I want to concatenate the input string with "hello". I see a "Fx Calculator Icon" which I am supposed to drag to the target node but I can not drag it to the input node. Isn't possible to write an expression to the source node ?Hi,
the assign activity changes a little bit between the versions of the JDeveloper. But we can figure it out, if you want to concatenate the input variable element and assign to the element of Output variable, what you can do is, drop an expression builder on the element of the output variable; then inside that expression builder you can use concat xpath function.
I beleieve in 11.1.1.3 version, if you want to append and assign to a target variable; we need to drop an assign activity, select copy operation; then select the expression as Type and write the concat expression in that window and on the right hand side, we need to select the variable for whome you want to assign the concatanated value.
Hope this helps,

Cssd does not start in non-RAC environment Thus we can not bring up ASM
Non-RAC environment
ASM version = 11.1.0.7
HP-UX Itanium 11.23
After power outage, CSSD does not start on non-RAC environment
Running as root "/sbin/init.d/init.cssd start" does not start cssd
Oracle support tried "$ASM_HOME/bin/localconfig delete" and "$ASM_HOME/bin/localconfig add"
but it did not start CSS
Oracle support tried "$ASM_HOME/bin/localconfig reset $ASM_HOME"
It started the CSSD and the "crsctl check css" came back with CSS is healthy
But around 1 minute later it rebooted the server and when it came up again CSS does not start.
They checked /etc/inittab and it looked fine.
Before the reboot we saw this message in the /var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log:
Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies
Again it is a NON-RAC environment. We only need CSSD for ASM. We do not have CRS installed on this server.
Our test system has been down for a week and we did not get the resolution from Oracle support yet !
Any pointers are greately appriciated.
Thanks,

Cisco ASR1001-X SFP-10G-SR: unable to bring 10G port up
Dear colleagues,
I have connected a Cisco ASR1001-X 10G port to a 10G port on the Cisco 7606-S. The SFP on my ASR1001-X is SFP-10G-SR and the SFP on the 7606-S is XENPAK-10GB-LX4. I am using an MMF fibre patching. I am unable to bring the port up. I have a temp license for the ASR 10G port. Is that sufficient to bring the port up?
I have tried connecting the SFP-10G-SR to a XFP-10G-MM-SR on another ASR but this did not work either. I am able to connect the XFP-10G-MM-SR to one another and also the SFP-10G-SR to one another. So there appears to be an issue when I mix the SFPs.
Can any one help please?The SFP on my ASR1001-X is SFP-10G-SR and the SFP on the 7606-S is XENPAK-10GB-LX4. I am using an MMF fibre patching.
The two fibre optic modules are on different wavelengths so the link won't come up. -

How to map the node id to the node name in database view just like "V$GES_RESOURCE"
i have a rac with 3 nodes,and the node id is from 1 to 3,i can check it with command olsnodes.
$ olsnodes -p -n -i
tdsdb1 1 tdsdb1-priv tdsdb1-vip
tdsdb2 2 tdsdb2-priv tdsdb2-vip
tdsdb3 3 tdsdb3-priv tdsdb3-vip
and i also can check it in gv$instance
SQL> select inst_id,instance_number,instance_name from gv$instance;
INST_ID INSTANCE_NUMBER INSTANCE_NAME
1 1 jftds1
3 3 jftds3
2 2 jftds2
but when i select the master node of some resource ,it shows some value of node id =0

Allow user to type in the Hierarchy node value in Hierarchy node varaible
Hi Experts,
We are presently on NW2004s SP8 and we are moving on to SP10.
We got the requirement in reporting...
1.To allow the user to type in the Hierarchy node value in Hierarchy node variable manually.
2. When user typing the Hierarchy node value into the Variable prompt, bring subtree by default.
By default Hierarchy node variable prompt is grayed out and the user can only select the values from Input help(F4).
I have put forward an SAP message on this topic earlier and got a reply that the manual entry of hierarchy node is not possible and there is no work around. User needs to select it from HELP. This is because the node value must be in a certain format which the users may not know.
I just want to know from u Experts... is there any new feature available in SP09/10 or is there any other way to satisfy this requirement ?
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
AparnaWe are able to manually enter in a hierarchy node in the selection screen. The selection screen is not grayed out.
We are currently on SPS 009, but one difference could be that we are on a Bex 3.5 Patch 10 front end. -
In BEx, how to display hierarchy Upper Node with selected Lower Nodes only
Currently I am displaying the Cost Centre (GFL Responsibility Cost Centre) hierarchy in a workbook. I want to be able to filter on this hierarchy dynamically. E.g. the upper node must be displayed including the rolled up results for this node, together with a selection of the lower nodes e.g 2 nodes ( not all the lower nodes related to the upper node must be displayed in the query).
What's possible when filtering :
To filter on the 2 lower nodes only ( results are displayed as required)
Not possible:
When I include the higher node of the 2 lower nodes in the query, All the lower nodes of the higher node are displayed, and the filter selection of the lower nodes are over written.
This is logically what's expected when the higher node is included in the filter.
Creating a hierarchy variable gives the same problem, I am not able to filter on the hierarchy nodes as required.
<b>Upper Node</b>
<b>Lower Node1 LowerNode2 LowerNode3</b>
Filter the report for UpperNode and LowerNode 2 & 3 only
<b><i>Thanking YOU in advance. Will reward points for the correct help</i></b>Hi
Do you want to show particular node or particular level ?
If you want particular node , then create hierarchy node variable and restrict to that node ( 3rd node)
If you want particular level, what does that mean say i am taking employee hierarchy and the hierarchy is as below.
Ihe setting that we have is to expand upto n levels but if yiou say i need level 2 what does that mean and how do you want to show in report ?
A -
(level 1)
B,C,D( --child of A ) --- level 2
E(Child of B), F(Child of C) -
level 3.

How to find out if a NODE has any CHILD NODES in a hierarchical tree?
I want to find out programmatically if a node in a tree has CHILDREN.
My requirement is this: I want to only show nodes for which the user has permission to execute the program that node is associated with.
Problem is, my tree population query will not show the child nodes, BUT the sub-menu nodes are displayed and I need to get rid of these nodes.
There is a function to find out the PARENT of a tree node (FTree.Get_Tree_Node_Parent), but noting to find out if children exist for a node or not?
What I thought of was to display the tree and then traverse it from the ROOT onwards and then if a NODE is a submenu node (I can find this out by checking the PROGRAM value. If this is NULL it is a sub-menu node) and IF IT HAS NO CHILD NODES then I can delete the node.Please provide the examples with DATA
as far as i know we cannot get the Child Nodes but NODE's Parents we can get
parent_node := Ftree.Get_Tree_Node_Parent(htree, :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE);I faced the similar problem but i solved it with query.
Provide the data and your Tree query then we can help -
How do i get to display the nodes under the root node in a JTree?
In my JTree there is a root node.This root node has 4 child nodes.Each child node in turn has nodes under it.What i need to do is just display the child nodes under the root node i.e., the four child nodes and keep these child nodes in a collapsed state.How do i go sbout this?
Please try this:
tree.expandRow(0);
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
public void run(){
tree.setRootVisible(false);
});If you want to show the RootHandles:
tree.setShowsRootHandles(true);If you want to keep nodes in collapsed state (not expandable):
tel = new TreeWillExpandListener() {
public void treeWillExpand(TreeExpansionEvent event) throws ExpandVetoException {
throw new ExpandVetoException( event, "Don't want" );
public void treeWillCollapse(TreeExpansionEvent event) throws ExpandVetoException {
tree.addTreeWillExpandListener(tel);Some reading material:
