Unable to build patched VIM+VIM-Shell / Configure Error with ncurses

VIM-Shell : http://www.wana.at/vimshell/
VIM : http://www.vim.org/download.php#unix
Trying to install and test VIM-Shell with the 7.0 patch against the official VIM sources downloaded from 'the unix directory' under version 7.x, but can't get past a configure issue.
Following the directions at under VIM-Shell > Installation, I've run the following:
$ tar jxf vimshell1.0vim7.0.patch.bz2
$ cd vim70
$ bzcat ../vimshell1.0vim7.0.patch.bz2 | patch -p0
However, ./configure spits out the following:
checking --with-tlib argument... empty: automatic terminal library selection
checking for tgetent in -lncurses... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermlib... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermcap... no
checking for tgetent in -lcurses... no
no terminal library found
checking for tgetent()... configure: error: NOT FOUND!
You need to install a terminal library; for example ncurses.
Or specify the name of the library with --with-tlib.
$ locate libncurses returns the following:

You also need vim-7.0-extra.tar.gz, which is in
ftp://ftp.vim.org/pub/vim/extra
tar jxvf vim-7.0.tar.bz2
tar zxvf vim-7.0-extra.tar.gz
cd vim70
bzcat ../vimshell1.0vim7.0.patch.bz2 | patch -p0
./configure
make
But it seems the patch file has a bug; it introduces a wrong '#endif' into gui.c. If make fails at gui.c, just remove the '#endif' (line 2422).

  • Configuration Error with Airport Admin Utility. Where is the newer version?

I am trying to make a change in Airport Admin . I am getting a pop-up saying
"Configuration Error" This version of Airport Admin Utility does not support this base station. You can't update the software for this base station, but you may be able to make configuration changes to it". ...
It says go to apple.com/support to locate a newer version - but I can't find one.
Does anyone know where it is?

Your first post indicated that you were using "AirPort Admin Utility".
If you have the new square 802.11b/g/n AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) ou don't want to use that.
Instead you want to use "AirPort Utility".

  • Configuration error with CS6 and Mavericks

I installed OS 10.9.2 on an empty drive, then CS6 and other apps. Now I upgraded to 10.9.3, and I get "Configuration Error" when I try to launch a CS6 app. (Error code was 16 at first; now it's 1.)
The Adobe website says the fix is to change permissions on two folders (SLStore and Adobe PCD) in Library/Application Support/Adobe. However, those folders don't exist anywhere on my drive.
I can run the separate uninstallers for InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, then try to reinstall, but I'm not filled with confidence that such an approach will get me anywhere.
Should I try the separate uninstallers? Should I wipe the drive and start over? (Lots of hours tied up in that, but I'll do it if I have to.)

Well, he's not working in the file now so there's no .idlk file for anything in the folder.

    Hi Yuri,
the problem with the ConfigComponent also should be fixed with Hotfix 1 (also worked for me).
See note 792995: Major problems fixed with this Patch 27 Hotfix 1: [...] Config : After upgrading to Portal SP2 Patch 27 the configuration iView did not work.

  • Vim "No tags file" error with python

I'm trying to get vim set up for python IDE stuff, but when I ctrl+] on a method or anything else, I get a "No tags file" error. I have the TagList plugin installed. Is there anything else I need to do to set this up?

You need the "tag file" before you to use "ctrl +]".
To get the tag file run this command "ctags -R *"  in your source files' directory.

  • Build failed () configure: error: C compiler create executable[SOLVED]

I am a newbie in the forums, i recently installed arch x86_64 and am having a hard time building packages, i did install base-devel , gcc gcc-fortran gcc-obc..........all that stuff i also installed all the base devel stuff...like fakeroot,flex....(all the base devel stuff) but not luck, when i try 'makepkg -s' it still brings this error ---> " configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables" or sometimes --> configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables , i googled a bit on possible solutions, i came acroos similar post but the newbie was not using x86_64, i tried reinstalling GCC but to no avail whats the problem?
    hereis my makepkg.conf details

You sir should be up there with the Gods, thank you - it now compiles.
I still have a problem as it now crashes and not many clues as to why.

Error: Makepkg was unable to build gcc3-g77 package.
Has anybody been able to build package lately?
    Regards
    André

The program I was trying to build was OMNITAB 80 from http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/software/omnitab.html
I was getting so many errors about not referring to variables and missing libraries and improper options, I can't even remember, so I thought that was because the compiler I was using was just too obscure and that I needed one that was more like f77.  (kind of like compiling the Linux kernel in MS Visual C instead of gcc... it should be remotely possible but incredibly hard)
So I thought g77 was what I needed, but since you said gfortran and g77 are the same program, that made me try one last time. So I just spent the last 4 hours editing the source code, commenting stuff out, declaring things and making the .f files more gfortran friendly (completely winging it of course, a programming guru could have done it in minutes) and now finally omnitab will compile and run on my machine.
I'll go back and find all the changes I made with patch and diff and then release a PKGBUILD for anyone who wants to run a 1980s console spreadsheet.
Note: There are two optional parts of the program. One is calcomp support which I didn't compile because I don't have a calcomp. If I were to download the xf86-input-calcomp package, despite not having the device, I suppose I would be able to compile this feature but not test it. The other is X11 support. I really wanted to get this working but I need help. All of the source files are Fortran except x11src.c. I was getting errors about there being no "main" function so I just put everything after the include and define lines in one big function called main. It still wouldn't compile and talked about static and non static declarations, so I commented out some declarations and changed the order in which some functions were defined. Eventually compiling it into object code worked, but when the makefile went back and put all the object files together to make the executable it once again gave me tons of errors related to x11src.o. If anyone wants to help that would be great. If not, I'll try using a different C compiler that might not be as picky.

  • [SOLVED] Makepkg was unable to build lib32-portaudio.

Okay so i dusted off my old PS2 the other day and decided i wanted to play some old games for nostalgic sake when i came to realize it is still broken. So i looked for a decent emulator and found PCSX2. Now, i had some missing dependencies that needed to be installed and i worked on it for a few hours and got every dependency to install except lib32-portaudio. And don't get me wrong, Iv'e looked both at the PCSX2 website and the Arch wiki and forums and iv'e googled and looked at Ubuntu forums and whatnot. I looked everywhere i could think of, and i can't find anything at all on this issue so i'm hoping someone will be able to help me here. I guess the relevant part of the error message that i get is this:
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.5.2/../../../libjack.so when searching for -ljack
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/libjack.so when searching for -ljack
    /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ljack
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    make: *** [lib/libportaudio.la] Error 1
        Aborting...
==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build lib32-portaudio.
And Iv'e re-installed portaudio at least 3 times since i figured the error had something to do with it. Through pacman, downloading the package from the dev website, and even trying the Ubuntu repos and it seems to be successfully installed each time. I'm fairly new to Linux but i'm a very persistent person and i wouldn't give up without at least a days worth of pulling out my hair in frustration, and through trial and error, so as far as my knowledge reaches, iv'e tried my best to solve it on my own. Oh, and i'm building/installing from the AUR if that would make a difference. Appreciate any help.
    edit
Been a long time, with no help, but i finally gave it another go. This time successfull! I just recently re-installed Arch, this time running openbox, and without any issues whatsoever, it installed on the first try. I think i had a shitload of conflicting and missing dependencies on my last install and that's what caused it.. I don't know if this will help anyone if you ever run in to this problem, there isn't much to add, Only thing is that I'm running a clean install and i use the nvidia driver and nvidia-utils, and all the ALSA sound drivers and utilities. Oh and i'm running openbox as a stand-alone WM. That's all the relevant info i think. Now i'm looking forward to configuration hell for the games i'm gonna run, haha!

ChoK wrote:It seems like you need lib32-jack and the maintainer of lib32-portaudio forgot to add it to makedepends/depends
Iv'e got lib32-jack already installed. And by reading the comments of the AUR link to the package ( lib32-portaudio ) they supposedly fixed the PKGBUILD too.

  • Unable to build glibc

Glibc consistently fails at this point:
    checking for .preinit_array/.init_array/.fini_array support... no
configure: error: Need linker with .init_array/.fini_array support.
Both ABS and AUR (git) versions fail in the same place.
I have tried to compile both native (64bit) and lib32 packages.
I have tried this with both ABS and AUR (git) versions of binutils.
I have tried with and without LTO (someone was getting that error related to LTO, but not my case).
I have tried to use the standard linker, ld.bfd but my system seems fixated on ld.gold (even when lto is disabled). My choice of linker is not recognized, and I cannot fathom why ld.gold seems to be default; it would seem I have no say in the matter. In either case, ld.gold should not cause these problems.
I even tried commenting out the error thrown by this section of the configure script (in case the test itself is broken) but the next test also failed:
    checking for .preinit_array/.init_array/.fini_array support... no
checking whether to use .ctors/.dtors header and trailer... configure: error: missing __attribute__ ((constructor)) support??
    What in the world?

mauritiusdadd wrote:Builds fine here. Can you show us the whole configuration log?
Have at it! This log is from a lib32-glibc attempt. There's something seriously weird going on here: "Configured with" shows a configure script and options that are from another package, my custom version for mmug, which are in a completely different directory than this and are not involved in this compilation attempt by any action on my part.
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
It was created by GNU C Library configure (see version.h), which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.69. Invocation command line was

Are you using any custom {C, CPP, CXX, MAKE}FLAGS?
Only -O3 and -fstack-protector-all; both are problem-free 99.9% of the time.
I did a test build with -O2 and without -fstack-protector-all, which fails in a different place:
    /var/tmp/yaourt-tmp-quequotion/abs-lib32-glibc/src/glibc-build/elf/librtld.os:rtld.c:function lookup_doit: error: undefined reference to '__stack_chk_fail_local'
    /var/tmp/yaourt-tmp-quequotion/abs-lib32-glibc/src/glibc-build/elf/librtld.os:rtld.c:function process_dl_debug: error: undefined reference to '__stack_chk_fail_local'
    /var/tmp/yaourt-tmp-quequotion/abs-lib32-glibc/src/glibc-build/elf/librtld.os:rtld.c:function print_statistics: error: undefined reference to '__stack_chk_fail_local'
    /var/tmp/yaourt-tmp-quequotion/abs-lib32-glibc/src/glibc-build/elf/librtld.os:rtld.c:function dl_main: error: undefined reference to '__stack_chk_fail_local'
These errors could not be resolved by:
-fno-stack-protector (in CFLAGS, no change; build failed wtith the same stack-protector related errors)
-lssp (in LDFLAGS, causes build to fail; apparently makes the linker unusable)

  • CSA MC Install error: Unable to load patch information

When we try to install CSA MC 5.2.0.263 (and 5.2.0.203) on Windows Server 2003 Ent Ed (or R2) we receive error:
"Unable to load patch information into the database"
How to solve the given error?

Just a couple things to check. If running the CSA agent on the MC make sure its disabled during the upgrade
You have enough free space in the installation directory
