Unable to change gmail notification settings

I just had to do a factory reset on my Incredible to get rid of a few issues. Everything is good now and I've got everything back to where it was except for notifications in gmail. Although I have Email Notifications checked in the Account Settings, I am not getting the option to turn on/off audible alerts or to only receive notifications once when a new email arrives. By everything I've read those options should appear, but they're not. I did have them selected before the reset. Help!

Those setting are actually there. Under the check box labled 'email notifictions" there should be a 'labels to notify'.
Click on that and you will see to options. first one is Inbox and the other is Priority Inbox. Click on inbox and you can change your notification sounds as well as notify once vs notify for all.

Unable to change wireless security settings on WRT54GS v5.1

I'm using a WRT54GS v.5.1 with the latest firmware (v1.50.9).
Set this up this weekend - all was fine until last night when the router stopped broadcasting the signal. I've reset the modem countless times and powered it down and back on again.
The router is now working fine - but I'm unable to change any of the wireless security settings. When I try to change the setting under Wireless > Wireless Security to WEP, it just jumps back to Disable and no changes can me made. Same situation when trying to enable a Wireless MAC Filter?
Any ideas? I don't want to use the router without any security in place!

make sure to select the correct model and version of your router. if you cant see the model # of your router as one of the downloads, you will need to have the router replace (hope you'll not).

Unable to change site navigation settings

Hi,
I am unable to change navitation settings for a site with the site telling me I do not have permissions.
1) I am a site collection administrator and also an owner of the actual site
2) I was able to do it before, for some reason it stoped working and is giving me the permission error now
3) I can use the error page to send request for permission, however, it comes back to me to approve
4) One colleague, although only owner of one subsite, is having the same issue for this subsite. It used to work for him also.
I found this article here and asked our admin to check the permission. He confirmed that running custom scripts option is and always was disabled.

The reason why it stopped working is something else though.
Allowing to run custom scripts can probably solve the issue but I would like to fix it without that. If the reason is elsewhere, so must the solution be.. or, I hope.
Would anyone please suggest where to look?

Add, change, or delete HTML pages or Web Part Pages, and edit the Web site using a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible editor.
I already tried also to give myself the Design permissions specifically but it did not help either.

I am able to click on the Navigation in the site settings and the site opens fine. I make my amendments to the settings and only when I try to save it, I get the error saying I do not have permissions.

Unable to change IPv4 adapter settings -- COM surrogate fails

Hi folks,
I have an HP notebook I use for network troubleshooting etc. It is about 1 year old and was delivered with 8.0 and subsequently upgraded to 8.1 a few months ago. It does not have the recent 8.1 Update update installed.
When I try to set a static IP address on the Ethernet adapter I get a pop-up after closing the adapter properties dialog saying that the COM surrogate as stopped work. I can close this popup but I can't close the Network Connections page. I get an event
1000 error in Application event log that says netcfgx.dll is faulting.
I know that at one time I could change the adapter settings with no trouble, but I've installed a number of monthly updates since the last time I tried.
Any ideas?

In the Options box, no matter what I set my Home Page to (Current Pages, Blank Page, Default) I am unable to change my homepage settings; they absolutely will not change and I can't figure it out.

Up to about a month ago, I never had any problems setting my Home Page to Using Current Pages. Then, all of a sudden, I am unable to make any changes to my Home Page no matter what I change the settings to. I work for the US Forest Service and I don't know if some program was loaded that prohibits any changes from being made. Any help would be most appreciated.

Can anyone on the planet Help me with my problem?!
My Import Settings state:
On CD Insert-"Show CD"
Import Using-"MP3 Encoder"
Setting-"High Quality, 160 kbps".
I would like to change these settings. Although, everytime I enter the Preferences foler and click on the Advanced tab and next on the Importing tab also make subtle changes they will Not adhere. Do I need to erase every program and start all over again or does anybody have a quick fix for me?

Although similar problems are reported from time to time, there doesn't seem to be a straightforward solution.
If all else fails, then m1t's workaround could be worth pursuing.

Unable to change Time Machine settings

Time Machine has been behaving strangely for me. For starters, when I attempt to access it through system preferences, it fails to load. The top bar simply becomes "Loading Time Machine..." and remains that way. It does not hang, but simply does not seem to proress.
However, I can load up Time Machine if I run it from the .app in applications. When I do so however, the settings are locked. When I attempt to click on the lock in the bottom right hand corner to unlock the settings however, nothing happens. No Authentication pop up, no request for password or anything.
I have never used time machine before this, and discovered this only when attempting to set up time machine for the first time.
If you have any suggestions on how to solve this problem, your help would be very much appreciated.

You do not ever need to install 3rd party software to use a hard drive in OS X. I strongly suggest you remove anything you installed from Western Digital. There have been issues in the past with OS X upgrades where the WD software caused OS X to completely erase a hard drive, and it's likely that anything from WD you installed is old and not compatible with Yosemite.

Facebook notifications SETTINGS missing

I am unable to check my notifications settings on the Facebook application. I log in and go to Account Settings --> Notifications, and the page is BLANK. I have tried seemingly everything: logging off, deleting the app, shutting down the phone, etc etc. Nothing has seemed to work.
I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1.

First post ever and felt the need to help you out. Had the same annoying problem. Plug it into your computer. Go to your itunes, iphphone apps and play around with the sync of Facebook. I unclicked FB then clicked and sync'd it. Not really sure what I did, but it worked. Hope this helps. Good luck

Forgive my language but getting to talk to the Safaricom customer service is a real pain in the **bleep** - if you ever get to talk to them, that is.
I've never got an answer to my phone calls in three years and their customer assistans in the shops usually have no clue about whatever it is you're asking them.
I talked to a few of them in a couple of different Safaricom shops and they didn't know what I was talking about.
Still, I believe Safaricom is not the problem as other people I know who have a BlackBerry on Safaricom haven't experienced this problem.

Unable to open "compose mail/settings/contacts" in standard view in 2 out of 3 Gmail accounts. When "compose new mail" is selected "loading...." appears at the top then the page is frozen. ie you can't select inbox etc. Changing from standard to basic h/ml then clears the Loading... and gmail can be used (without spellcheck etc).
This might not be Mozilla, but I can access these accounts in standard view on another computer.

Your Gmail account may well be an IMAP account, just like the iCloud mail account. In which case it will work in just the same way as iCloud mail, except that you will have to set it up manually on each device, where as iCloud mail adds the account itself when you log into iCloud.
Whilst it works the same as iCloud mail it isn't iCloud that syncs it for you.

I have it setup to alert me with a banner, in the notification center and on the lock screen. However, twice in the last 5 weeks this has changed so I only have the badge app icon, no other notifications.
How can these settings just change like that, and how do I keep them consistent going forward?

Sounds like you are not able to connect to a Wi-Fi network with your iPad. This article has a section for Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network and the second article is the recommended network settings. If after these it still has the same issue you may want to restore the device to factory settings.

When I go into settings iCloud my apple ID is listed as my old apple ID and I am unable to change it. Any help?

I recently updated to to iOS 6.1. When I did it asked me to put in my password but my old apple ID came up. I skipped it and the message stated that my facetime and iCloud might not work correctly. I skipped anyway. I have since verified my apple ID online and my facetime seems to be working correctly, However, when I go into settings>iCloud>my apple ID is listed as my old apple ID and I am unable to change it. Any help?

Welcome to the Apple Community..
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

It sounds like you have modified the password settings for your Gmail account after changing the password. Thats where I would have started too. Next I would restart the device and test it one more time, and then remove and add the account again in Settings:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap the affected email account.
Tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.
