Unable to command instron 4400 using gpib

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to connect to an instron 4400. i am trying to use gpib to communicate. i have created a new device with address 2 and secondary address 0(which is what it should be) and i dont get any feedback. i have tried the test programs but the simplereadwrite wont work and the asynchronous read write will not do anything. I konw that if i send command "K1", it will return the system to the loading position but when i send it, nothing will work. any advice?

I am not exacty sure what you are trying to do. But I found a sample vi online that I was able to adapt to talk to the Instron 4411. I use 4 for the device number and that seems to work. This vi reads values. But if you use the keyboard commands it works as well. Be sure to hit the enter button after the keyboard commands; otherwise the commands will not work (I learned this the hard way).

You transfer data with wires.
Frankly, I'm a little confused by your question. I can't think of any reason why you would want to pass serial parameters (i.e. baud rate, parity) to a GPIB instrument. Please explain with further detail and attach the code.

Cannot read instrument errors for Ando AQ6317B using GPIB commands.

Maybe related to reading the status byte using GPIB commands for the AQ6317B OSA: how can I read the instrument errors, if one or more occur? Several instruments return their instrument errors in the format <errorCode>, <"error message"> as a response to the command "YST:ERR?" or similar. Not the AQ6317B optical spectrum analyzer.
Can anyone help me with this one?

Yes, I did this using NI MAX also and using NI IO Trace (former NISpy). Many instruments accept "SYST:ERR?" as a query to return any INSTRUMENT ERROR (hardware or firmware).
Well, I guess my ANDO does not. it responds with an empty string, or whatever it has in its buffer from the previous query.
In any case, be it as it may, I will close this issue (still in limbo for me), and just ignore instrument errors for the time being.

How to read from a HPIB instrument using GPIB software?

How Can I read from a HPIB instrument using GPIB software and library functions in Visual Basic Environment? In HPIB we do not have to send query first but in GPIB we do? Although writing and sending a command is to a HPIB instrument is pretty much the same as a GPIB instrument. Any help or suggestion?

HI,
HPIB and GPIB are the same thing at a low level in terms of instrument communication. They are both compliant with the IEEE 488.2 standard.
The difference is the driver you have to use. Each manuafacturer has to develop a driver to control the interface ont he host. For National Instruments interfaces you use NI-488.2 (which you refer to GPIB functions). For HP interfaces you need to use the SICL library. For information using this library in Visual Basic you'll have to look at the SICL documentation.
You can also use VISA (HP-VISA) which would allow you use NI interfaces or other buses in the future.

Using gpib-32.dll in Labview 7.0

Hi there,
I am relatively new to Labview and I need some help trying to program an old HP3488A switch/control unit using the Call Library Function Node. I would like to convert the existing VB6 code, which uses gpib-32.dll, into Labview. What I have done in the VB code is to call the ibdev function to set up the HP instrument. I would like to do the same in Labview. How would I even go about setting up the .dll files as I am revamping the existing code (running on a Pentium II computer) and trying to create an identical code in Labview (running on a Pentium III computer). Also, after I have set up the .dll files (done any system configurations if necessary), how do I actually implement this file in Labview?
I have tried calling the ibdev function in the properties of the Call Library Function. I created 6 parameters of return types with ranges of type long. Then I pass integers into the input of this node and when I tried running it I get an error exception within the external code as follows:
"An exception occured within the external code called by a Call Library Node. This might have corrupted Labview's memory. Save any work to a new location and restart Labview. VI "switch.vi" was stopped at Call Library Function Node 0x1D7C of subVI "switch.vi"

I actually tried that before. As the HP3488A switch instrument is very old and came out before IEEE488.2 got introduced, it still uses IEEE 488.1, or HPIB commands. When I try using MAX or even my Agilent IO Control, it shows that there is an instrument connect to GPIB address 10, but neither programs can auto-identify the instrument using the *IDN? query. Even so, I tried typing ID? in both programs and I got no data back from the instrument. I'm not too sure as to what the problem is since I always get "\n" back from the instrument's reply. I even tried changing the termination character enable to TRUE and I still got nothing back.
However, on the front local display of the switch, I can see arrow indicators moving between TALK and LISTEN whenever I perform a write or write/read command. But no data gets sent or received because I couldn't perform any write commands to change the switch. If anyone can tell me what the real problem is that would be great. But if not, then I will have to use the Call Library Node because I know that my VB6 code actually works on the HPIB instrument and I could simply use this gpib-32.dll file on Labview and perform the same instructions, which should allow me to talk to the switch. Can anyone tell me how to properly set up a Call Library Function Node as I have errors using the gpib-32.dll file (please see my previous message)?

Unable to connect to DB using the SID

I am unable to connect to DB using the SID i assigned using TOAD, but i am able to connect using the instance name.
My setup needs that i should use a common name to connect to the DB immaterial of which instance is up.
Can any one instruct me how to achieve this kind of setup.

The same command works fine on linux using putty.
Are We missing anything or the issue might be because of the windows platform.
Please help us.

Hi,
We have compared the LDt with the one generated with UNIX.
We are completely missing the data definition of the object.
Also today we tried to download LDT's for concurent program and request group, and request group Ldt is successfully downloaded but for concurrent program again it downloaded only entity definition and then failed to download object's data definition.

I get "App Store Disabled" on my MacBook Pro due to profile issues. What Terminal command can I use to reset profile settings?

After transferring documents from one MacBook Pro to another I get some weird errors due to settings that seem to have transferred over. One is that the Mac App Store is disabled.
Are there any Unix / Terminal commands I can use to reset these?

with odbc, we do by "rwrun module=<> userid=<user>/<passwd>@odbc:DSN"
Please specify, what is command line arguments for jdbc-odbc bridge driver?

Report Builder : connect JDBC Query in Report Builder is to through Connection Dialog in JDBC Query Editor. User can use a Sign on parameter (can use, default : P_JDBCPDS or can create new) to connect to JDBC Data Source. Connection once made will be mentioned and will be reused through out Reports Builder.
JDBC PDS allows user to connect one or more same or different kind of databases.
While running report through runtime or Server, user can pass the sign on parameter(connection string) value, like any other user parameter.
Syntax for connection string : <username>/<password>@databaseURL . The syntax of database part of connection string depend on the type of JDBC Driver used to connect to Data Source while designing the JDBC Query. databaseURL refer to the location of the database and its format depend on the JDBCPDS river selected in design time while creating the JDBC Query.

I want to create bat script to create several VPN connection.
There is powershell command to create vpn connection:

And I need to create VPN connection without the option "Use default gateway on remote network" option on VPN connection"
Or modify this option on existent VPN connection with command.
Please help me to find command option or other command to disable "Use default gateway on remote network" option on VPN connection" feature.

My first thoughts were that 'bootcamp' was out of date...needed an upgrade to register windows 7. Since then I am once again met with the same problem... how can it not see the I have already have a paritioned drived ready to be used for installition, is there a way to fix this problem? I don't really want to pay out for 'i-parition' only to merge my 2 drives back into one and start again from scratch =/. Seems silly to do so...what are my options?

Unable to download OS X using Zapping PRAM index. Gives OS X Mavericks failed to download use the purchases page to try again - But cant see Mac app store icon as screen has completely gone grey
Since yesterday my Macbook Pro is not working - rather I cant see finder and upon booting, instead of any screen savers and icons displaying it is showing a balnk grey screen.
After reading some discussion and watching to some videos on You Tube, I managed to empty my Mac HD by traferring all the files to an external HD and then suing zapping PRAM keys, I got to a screen from where I am trying to download OS X to re install it.
However after some time it is giving error as 'OS X Mavericks failed to download use the purchases page to try again'.
But to access purchase page, I am unable to view Mac app stores application or icon.
Please help in fixing this issue.

I tried the suggestion you gave, but it didnt work.
However can someone help with clarification - mine is 2011 MBP and I reconk that it came with OS X Lion pre-installed and now with OS X utilities page, when I try to reinstall OSX it tries installing Mavericks and fails at certain stage.
When it fails I get pop-up message as 'OS X Mavericks failed to download use the purchases page to try again'
But I am unable to get App stores and go to purchases, as I dont see that option anywhere using OS X Utilities (which is the only way I am able to access my mac once I start)
So, Kindly help whether I need to get OS X Lion reinsalled first and then upgrade OS X Mavericks?
To do so, should I buy OS X Lion (as I dont think there is any back-up of OS available on my machine)?
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.
