Unable to connect in Mac OS X 10.4 to database

I have installed SQL Developer 1.2.1 build 32.13 on my mac os x 10.4.
But when I am connected to the network with the VPN connection (secure client VPN-1) I cannot connect with SQL Developer to the database in the company network.
It fails with the message
Status: -lo exception: The network adapter could not establish the connection
With my X11 command line I can ping the machine with the database and with telnet I can connect to the port.
Why cant sql developer connect to the port when X11 can using telnet ?

The "-lo exception: The network adapter could not establish the connection" error usually means something fundamental is wrong - can't find host, no network connection etc. Your tests indicate that is not the case, so all I can recommend is to check your connection definition for errors in host name or port.
VPNs can be a problem with oracle connections, but there are usually other problems as well.

Okay have you tried preferences>Network then click diagnostics?
to verify if you are communicating at all go to application>Utilities>Terminal
in terminal type ping google.com should get over and over (send what you get)

if you get the above, then go to safari and re-set safari, then close safari, re-open and try google.

Unable to connect my Mac and iOS

After updating the Yosemite software on my Macbook i am unable to connect iOS and Mac for phone calls.My iPhone 5 does not have FaceTime? Is there another wayout?

Try a reset, hold the home/sleep button until the device powers off then powers back on and you see the apple logo. Release when you see the apple logo and allow it to finish booting. Once it is done try updating your apps again.

Unable to connect to Mac Air after Yosemite

I have been unable to connect to my Mac Air from my network. I can connect to the network from the Mac but not from the other network units to the Mac. Any Ideas?

Unable to connect to Mac Pro with 2 network interfaces

The Mac Pro has 2 network interfaces. The first one is connected to a local network and the other interface has an external IP address (connected directly to the internet).
What we want to be able to do is to connect to the computer from home through the external interface and then be able to run applications on it that access a server on the local network. But, from home it is showing "Offline" in the "Current Status" column. If we try to connect it fails.
The thing I can't figure out is why I can access it from work on a different local network, using the external IP address. It works fine that way. There are no hardware firewalls that could be causing it. So either way, it is coming into the computer through the external adapter.
I'm stumped... Maybe it's something simple that I'm just missing. If you have any idea how I can access the computer from home please let me know so I can try it.

Unable to connect 2 Macs over internet

Here is a situation that the tech support at my ISP seems to be clueless to help me with. I have an iMac G5 (OX 10.4.4) and my son has an eMac (OS X 10.4.3) He lives two miles away. I am connected to the net via a cable modem he has a DSL modem that is followed by an Ethernet Broadband Router to split his connection off to a PS2. I want to send some rather large files to him. His IP address is a 192.... which I have been told is the router and hence may act as a firewall. I tried having him connect the eMac directly to the modem and we got the same IP address. So the bottom line is we have tried turning things like file sharing on and off, trying to understand the network panel in system preferences, and somewhere we are doing nothing right because I cannot find anything that allows me to connect to him. The reality is I am not too technically oriented and he is 13, so is anyone able to explain this so that even a college grad can understand what to do? Thanx.

The router is a Dynex-E401. I just found the companies web site and they have instructions for forwarding the router which when I can have my son available I will have him do. Unfortunately, I am not able to go into that house since the crazy woman who lives there does not like me, however I think he will be able to follow any instructions I give him. In the meantime I understand the concept regarding file sharing, etc. So I will try their instructions and if I have problems, I will repost, Thanx.

Unable to connect to Mac clients from Mac OS X Server

Recently I have installed an OS X 10.4.10 Server to an customer of mine. The server was configured at my home office before I installed it to the customer. Filesharing,Firewall and VPN is running on the server and everything works fine. My odd "problem" is when I browse for other macs on the network, from the server, I cant find any. All I get is alias of filesharing macs at my home network. I cleaned the cash etc etc nothing works. If I boot in Safe boot I get listed all filesharing Macs at the office network, but then of course the server OS will not run. Yesterday I checked other customers who run OS X Server and some get hold of clients on the network, other not. Any idea ???

In visual studio there is what we called Server Explorer and from there you can create connection and access all the database server from there. I am able to connect to the Oracle XE through the browser and I was able to crete table and other stuffs like that but when I tried to connect from Visual Studio 2008, I get the 12560 Error. Mac OS 10.5 unable to connect to Mac OS 9 server

Hi,
I just recently updated some computers to Leopard (one had Tiger the other had 10.2.8) and I am having trouble connecting to a server that is on a Mac OS 9. I am able to find the server, but neither computer can connect. I get a -5019 AFP Parm error. Both computers had no problems connecting to the server before. Apple Talk is turned on.
Any suggestions?

Still no luck. If I revert back to an older operating system I can still connect. I can ping the server in Leopard, no problem and a tcp port was recognized in a port scan. Every time I try to connect (go/connect to server) and I type in the IP address it brings up a box asking for my user name/password. I used to connect to this server as a guest, however that now gives me a connection failed message and a -41 error. If I use the same username/password that I use on a few other servers I get the connection failed message with a -36 error. If I type in whatever I want I get the connection failed message with a -5019 error. All other users who have not updated to Leopard can still connect to that server and I can connect to all other servers on my network. When I click browse this server is not recognized on the network.
Any ideas?

Mac 10.5.8 unable to connect to Mac 10.4 for file sharing purpose

I'm currently using Mac 10.5.8, when i tried to connect to my friend Mac 10.4. It just show connecting status only. My friend already turn on the file sharing. Firewall turn off. Restarted and tried again also no use. His machine able to connect to my machine for file sharing. Previously we able to do file sharing for both way, but now only one way work (his can connect to mine). This problem happen since 2 weeks ago.
I will appreciate if any Mac expect can give me some ideal how to resolve this problem.

Are you doing this local or over the net(ports opened on router/modem?)? And try connecting by menu bar, Go, Network if you are currently trying by menu bar, Go, Connect to Server. And what does System log show by Console or Terminal. This is Leopard connecting by LAN to my Tiger machine:

Unable to connect to Mac mini with VNC

I'm trying to connect to my Mac mini from my MacBook on the same local network but after a while I can't until I reboot the Mac mini again. I use VNC Screen Sharing via Back to My Mac and File Sharing for Time Machine and iTunes Media but it doesn't work, unless of course, I reboot again. Sometimes I'm in the middle of doing conversion projects so naturally it's a hinderence to have to reboot at random times when it might be in the middle of something. This is an intermittent problem. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your Mac Mini is really getting bogged down. Check if it's actually frozen, or just running really slowly. With many files open, it might be low on RAM and paging lots of memory out to disk. This will give you the beachball. Use the Activity Monitor to check the status of your memory.
If you're running out of RAM, the problem extends beyond VNC...these conversion projects you're running will also be really slow. Upgrading your RAM is cheap, and might solve the problem.

Unable to connect on Mac using latest version.

Skype just stopped working today. I signed out. Now it won't connect. Cell phone works fine. I'm running OSX 10.10.3 and all software is up-to-date. I updated Skype and followed the instructions here. No luck. Rebooting did not help. Nothing interesting appears in the console. It's impossible to know what skype is trying to do without some sort of logging. There's no clear way to enable this in the preferences. I would really appreciate some visibility on what Skype is trying to do on the network. Everything was working fine before and nothing on the network has changed. Update: the laptop next to it can connect fine, so it is not a network issue.

Same problem here. I have skype on my iMac and on my Macbook - sometimes it works on the iMac, most of the time it doesn't. Around an hour ago it crashed on the Macbook 13" Retina and I have not been able to login since. Thank you Microsoft for ruining Skype.Gets stuck like this for 5 minutes or so, then takes me back to the sign in screen.... I am running the absolute latest version and I tried removing every mention of Skype in ~/Library - nothing helps

I called a vw dealership (in South Australia) today because I have an iphone5 and a Tiguan and experienced the same thing (after i had purchased the lightening/30pin adapter).
I was advised that the media interface software is not compatible with iphone5. VW will eventually update the software according to ol'mate at the dealership, but it will be at an expense to the consumer allegedly.
I know that there is a iphone/vw media cable one can purchase from VW however, I believe this to only work with iphone4 or older?
Maybe try an older generation ipod to use for the car if all ur music is in itunes?
if anyone can correct me, I'd be more than happy to know... going to try my older generation ipad and see if there is any truth to the tale.... eventually. Until then i'll stream via bluetooth :-)

Entourage 2008 failing to connect to .Mac

Greetings,
This problem started about 2 days ago. Suddenly I am unable to connect to .Mac using Entourage 2008. The error I get is "Connection to the server failed or was dropped." The explanation: "Mail could not be retrieved at this time. Account name: "my account name" Error: -3253"
I checked Google and could not find this particular error code.
I opened up Mac Mail and was able to connect just fine, and I checked the online mail as well, just fine.
I removed the account and re-added it to see if that would help and it did not. No updates or new software were added in a week so I know its not that.
Any ideas?

I think this question is not answered. The internet is full of questions like this and it happens that it not only happens with Entourage but with Mail.app as well. No answers so far.
Someone suggested that it has something to do with the firewalls on the mac, but nothing definitive.
Please, I have thsi same problem on both programs and it is very annoying.
