Unable to drag thumbnails in LR4 any longer.

Saw another post about this, but didn't see a solution, as closing and restarting Lightroom doesn't fix it. I'm unable to drag and drop thumbnails any longer. I've used this feature a lot to drag photos into a folder to upload to my web site, then it started working only intermittently. Now it rarely works. Yes, I know you need to click on the thumbnail image itself, and not the border. When clicking on the selected images (whether it's one or several), LR does not grab them and allow me to move them anywhere. Every once in awhile, after holding down the mouse key, it will grab them, but when I go to move them, it sometimes loses them before I can drop them and I have to start over.

I have run Disk Repair twice: once after removing all signs of Logitech software (followed by a reboot) and once again after removing some preferences long ago related to this issue found in a thread in another forum (followed again by a reboot).
I did not, however, copy and catalog the repairs that were done. I may run repairs again and see if there are any it can't do.
I have been able to resolve the issue for everything EXCEPT the Finder and iTunes. After removing all traces of Logitech software as well as some minor system preferences noted here http://macosx.com/forums/mac-os-x-system-mac-software/300513-drag-drop-function- not-working-2.html in reply #15, and performing the permissions repairs, I regained the ability to drag tabs in Firefox and Safari as well as photos in iPhoto and text dragging in nearly all applications (except Finder and iTunes).

Not seen that message before, but two standard suggestions that may help.

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Though I have doubts for success, you might try a SMC reset. It can do no harm. Otherwise, barring suggestions from others, the Apple Store or qualified repair facility is the last option.

Make sure your windows userid has full control and ownership over the entire music folder. Check the box to apply this to subcontainers (aka subfolders)

Dragging to other applications doesn't work any longer

I used iPhoto before and back then I could easily drag pictures to Photoshop to edit them, to a LibreOffice document to embedd it or to a website within Chrome to for example attach it to an existing thread on Facebook.
With Photos, non of these works any longer. I could only drag it to the Pages app, which looks like Apple broke drap&drop in Photos. I do _not_ want to export or save pictures first somewhere in between to attach them as a normal file. I want drag&drop as before.

I don't believe it - it has actually exported it modifying the original 1080p video and downconverting it to 720p.
The fact that you cannot easily view original images/movie files in their actual location via Finder makes such comparisons difficult but I know this was 1080p video.

Unable to drag any music into my phone play lists

I have just sync'd my phone and all the music in my play lists have been erased. I can still see them as purchases but I'm unable to drag any of them back into play lists to recreate them. I get the circle with a line through it when I attempt to. Any ideas its driving me potty.. the only things that have changed are updating the itunes software as promted. I have used a PC elsewhere since but have made sure that its authourised etc and all seems fine. Any help greatly appreciated??

Did you try clicking on the check mark (to remove the check mark) and then dragging the CD content to your Shuffle? I kept having problems dragging the CD to the Shuffle. Then I Unchecked a track and dragged over. Voila!
If you click on all the check marks on the CD, then highlight the first track, then while holding "shift" click on the last track - and drag it over to the Shuffle - you won't have to go back and forth dragging tracts to the Shuffle.
Now, I realize that I may have been the last person in the world to figure this out - but I was so excited when I did, and it makes life so e-z!

Unable to drag any titles.

Every time I create a title for my movie I am unable to drag it into the playback. I can preview it and that is all. The update button is not highlighted and I try and select the title but nothing happens. Is anyone else having this problem or is there something I have overlooked.

I have 15 photos I want to make into a movie. Each photo needs a different title.
I can type the text of the title and preview it. But I am unable to drag the title anywhere. In clip view & timeline view, there is no way to drag the title. And the 'update' button is not highlighted.

Illustrator and InDesign Unable to drag objects

I have suddenly become unable to drag items in InDesign and Illustrator. I may mention at the same time my Photoshop is not working either. I solved these problems two weeks ago by uninstalling Adobe Creative Suite CS5, running adobe cloud cleanup tool, restarting the computer and then reinstalling the programs. However within the week the problem came back again and this solution is no longer working!
Any suggestions of what could be going wrong??! (im pretty desparate!)

I cannot drag an image, text, simple shapes etc. By drag, I mean select the object in order to move it. I am able to move it using the arrow keys or the "transform" window, but I cannot move it by selecting it with my mouse and dragging it.

Adobe creative suite cs5: unable to drag objects on illustrator or indesign. unable to open files in photoshop, brush doesnt work in photoshop.
In the past I uninstalled adobe creative suite cs5 from my laptop, used the adobe creative cloud cleanup tool, restarted and then reinstalled the programs and everything worked again for about a week. Now everything has gone back to the way it was again and this time the uninstalling and reinstalling isnt helping.
Any ideas?

I'm having exactly the same problem. Uninstalled CS4 and reinstalled the 30 day trial of the Creative Cloud and it's stil having the same glitches, not opening in photoshop and not being able to drag/move objects in Illustrator or inDesign.

Unable to "Drag N Drop" images from the web to itunes "Get Info" for photo!

I convert LP's to MP3 and use iTunes as my program. Many of my LP's I want to have the images on the MP3. I use an excellent source of "discogs.com". Many people have saved me the time of picture taking and editing. I can just drag and drop to the iTunes. Well about 2 updates ago I cannot do this any longer. Why? I have to pull the image to the desktop and then drop into the iTunes.
Please restore this feature and save me the issues.

Suddenly I am unable to drag and drop icons/files. I can right-click/control-click on icons and files, but I cannot drag them anywhere.
How did this happen? I wish I knew. All I can tell you is that I restarted my PowerBook, logged in, and -- bam. No more dragging and dropping.
I've restarted the PBook. I've restarted the Finder numerous times. I've repaired permissions. I've verified the HD. Nothing has worked so far.
Any ideas?

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!

Solved. While this problem appeared machine related, it was not -- It turns out that I had added a js file in my page header that was missing.
So, the moral of the story is that if you're seeing the "unable to generate thumbnail error", look at all the custom HTML you may have added to the site. Errors in any HTML can show up in the wrong place.

Give this basic remedy a try. Quit iDVD and delete your iDVD preferences. To do this, go to your username> library> preferences> com.apple.idvd.plist. Delete this file. Then reopen iDVD; it will create a new preference file with all of the default settings.
If that doesn't work, do a verify and repair of permissions using Disk Utility.

Computer will not allow me to save/copy images any longer

I've recently switched from a PC to Mac. I am trying to figure out why my computer will not allow me to drag a pic from Safari into a document or folder for me to save. It worked fine for hours today and now whatever I try will not work. I've even switched websites and programs (first tried saving directly to folder and then tried dragging into Word). Could I have possible turned that fuction off? Please help! Thanks
