Unable to email Pages documents

I am unable to send a Pages document in an email. I am using the new Pages for Mac, which I already have many issues with. However, at the moment, it does not allow me to send the Pages file in an email. I am also unable to attach/upload a Pages file to a gmail email on the gmail website. Are other people having this issue? I know that my sister is also having problems with this.

Solution!!!:
1 - Send it by exporting to office files
2 - Saving the files as old iwork documents
3 - Command P and save as PDF
4 - Save in icloud and send the URL

If i am using 11G andrtp is 11g but on rtp side if they configure SSL, is it mandatory to do it from our side also?No it not mandatory to enable SSL at your end however you have to configure identity and trsut at your end.
Any update on my regular question(The main forum question)? You mentioned that you are posting message from 10g to 11g and as per log you are sending it to URL - https://dev-nog.server:443/b2b/transportServlet
So few things which I see as a problem are-
    1. You should use URL https://hostname:soa_server_ssl_port/b2b/httpReceiver instead of https://dev-nog.server:443/b2b/transportServlet
    2. SOA server SSL port should be enabled (SSL should be enabled on SOA server)
    3. You should configure wallet at 10g side to contain trust cert of 11g server

  • HT4641 Unable to share Pages document as a PDF document in email.

I am having difficulty exporting documents created in Pages as PDFs. I have a New iPad. Latestest iOS installed 5.1.1. I ReInstalled the app and restarted my iPad. I have emailed myself PDFs from Pages many times. Installing the iOS update (5.1.1) was around the same time I started having the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem?
When I 'email the PDF' it shows up as an image in the email instead of an attachment. I, also, cannot 'Open In...'

    Hello,
Thank you for taking an interest in the issue I have been having with sending myself a PDF from a Pages-created document. The problem started when I went to send myself an PDF from Pages and in the email I received, I was unable to tap-hold to get the option to 'Open In...', 'View in iBooks', or 'Quick View'. A tap-hold was giving me the option to 'Save Image' or 'Copy'.
This is a list of the steps I am taking to remedy/isolate the issue:
    1) Re-install the app
    2) Re-start the iPad
    3) 'Soft Reset' of iPad in Settings by erasing all data and documents
    4) Restoring my iPad from the iCloud
    5) 'Hard Reset' of iPad using iTunes return to factory settings
    6) Reinstalled only Pages on my iPad (problem changed to 'Quick View' option with hold-tap). **Note, the PDFs sent to my iPhone started behaving as normal and as expected.
**Note, after installing iBooks on my factory-bare iPad I was able to get the expected options when I did a hold-tap.
    7) Currently, I am in the process of re-installing applications one at time. I will be following up with sending myself test PDF file attachments. Perhaps, I will be able to identify a 'buggy' application that is in conflict with Pages--perhaps, the the problem is 'solved'.
I can forward the email to you that has the corrupt PDF attachment, and I can email you the Pages document. I suspect I can also send you the document as a PDF as I had hoped to send myself several days ago.
I am not sure where the best place to send the requested documents. Is <[email protected]> the best place?

  • Unable to open Pages document after emailing to colleague

I need to send a Pages document to a work colleague, where the document must be in pages format (not pdf or other).
We both use G4 powerbooks, latest tiger and iwork.
But when I email the pages document (via apple mail), two odd things happen:
    - the file arrives at my colleague's email address in zip format, requiring unzipping...
    - the unzipped pages file cannot be opened in pages, instead an error message 'the document cannot be opened' is received.
We've tried using apple mail, thunderbird, webmail, ... but to no avail.
How can a Pages document be emailed, as a .pages file, and then opened by someone else?
    Guidance welcomed.

    RossM,
Peggy explained why you need to zip Pages (and Keynote) documents. Mail.app tries to be smart an zips the files for you.
I recall that I saw a zip attachment in earlier versions of Mail. Now I just see a Pages document icon. When I delete an e-mail with a Pages attachment, it shows up in Trash with a zip attachment.
When I saved the zip attachment (testname.pages.zip) and unzipped it, some strange name appeared. I then simply removed the zip extension from testname.pages.zip and was able to open the file in Pages.
I'm not sure if this behavior is specifically with 10.4.6 and Mail 2.0.7 but check your versions and try to rename the "zip" file.
At least Peggy's suggestion to zip Pages documents before attaching them to an e-mail should work.

  • Can't tie emailed Pages document to my default printer

In our office we have several printers: HP LaserJet 1300, HP Color LaserJet 2605dn, HP LaserJet 4/4M PS, etc.
On my MacBook Pro I have set HP LaserJet P2055dn as my default printer.
My colleague from office sent me Pages document via email. On his MacBook Pro default printer is HP Color LaserJet 2605dn, and I also have this printer set up as a network printer, while my default printer at home is HP LaserJet P2055dn.
Every time I have to print his Pages '09 document, the default printer is HP Color LaserJet 2605dn. Even if I specify my own printer in Page Setup dialogue window, save it as the default printer — after closing this document and reopening it the same old HP Color LaserJet 2605dn is back as the default printer for this document again. Every time I want to print this document I have to change printer back to my HP LaserJet P2055dn.
    Two questions:
    1) Why can't Pages use my default printer as the default printer?
    2) Why Pages doesn't save default printer for this document which I specify in Page Setup dialogue?

As fruhulda said, this problem has been discussed at great length, but no solution seems to have been found. I have a Canon and an Epson, but am not currently using the Canon, yet every document I first printed with the Canon still shows it as the selected printer. I have to change to the Epson each time I print one of those documents. I finally decided it was unproductive to get frustrated all the time and to take a positive attitude about it: it teaches me look and think about what I’m doing rather than blindly clicking buttons. It didn’t fix the problem, but it brought a bit of serenity into my life. Philosophy vs technology.

  • Trouble emailing pages document

I'm using pages/08 and I'm having trouble emailing documents as attachments. They're small files - like one page of text only, and I've had trouble with this in the past. I generally end up not using pages and going back to appleworks and emailing as a pdf that way. Does anyone know anything about why it's so problematic to email from iwork?
    Thank you.
    Bob

A Pages document is actually a package, a special kind of folder that appears as a single file, but isn't. You can't e-mail a folder which is why many mail clients balk. Apple Mail will automatically zip a folder, other e-mail clients don't, especially web-based e-mail. In the Finder, Control- or right-click on the Pages document & choose Create Archive… (Tiger) or Compress… (Leopard) from the contextual menu. You will now have a zipped Pages document that you can attach to your e-mail & send.

  • Email pages document with audio

I am using Pages 09 on an iMac OS10.5.8
I have added an MP3 audio file (1Mb) to a pages document.
When I email the document as a WORD document or a PDF document the audio file is lost.
I have made sure that the "copy audio and movies into document" is checked in the save dialog box.
Is there a way to imbed the audio file in a pages document so that it can be emailed? And read by a Windows computer?
    Thanks

    Hi John
If that doesn't work, have you tried changing the audio format?
If it still doesn't work that is a bug
    +Menu > Pages > Provide Pages Feedback+
Media definitely will not embed in .pdf files. You will need to add them into the .pdf using *Adobe Acrobat Pro.*

  • Unable to send Pages documents as attachments through Mail. Gmail considers them security risks?

Gmail will not accept Pages documents as attachments - the server will not accept them, apparently as security risks.  This is the new version of Pages.  Any ideas?

Apple has changed the file format in Pages 5 and Gmail, Google and DropBox are all having trouble with it. I believe DropBox may have fixed it but the others are still unable to transfer the files.
Did you previously have the older Pages/iWork? In which case it should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
    Use that.

  • Still Cannot email pages document in gmail Help!

When I attach a Pages document to gmail and try to email, I get an error saying that gmail cannot mail executable attachments.  What can I do to email documents from the new version of Pages?

    Peter,
I had tossed out Pages '09, but, . . . I used Pages 5.0.1 to export the document to "Pages '09" (format, not the software, which I no longer have) and I was then able to send it in Mail 7.1 as an attachment.  Gmail did not object. Not pretty, but less of a mess than the other solutions I've seen or imagined so far.

  • Emailing Pages Document

I have Pages v 5.2 and am trying to send a document through Yahoo mail, but I can't attach an actual Pages doc (only PDF versions). The recipient computer has Pages, so I would like to send it as a Pages doc. Any suggestions?

In Pages ’09, the default .pages document was a compressed zip that was renamed .pages by the application. There was an option in Pages preferences to output the file as a Package, that when not under the care of the Finder, it was a folder. Pages v5+ now exclusively uses the Package solution. This causes problems for applications and services expecting a file or compressed file object, not folder, paradigm.
Pages v5+ and Apple Mail are designed to work together, and the Pages v5+ folder gets zipped in this relationship. If you are using a third-party Mail user agent, then you will need to take the intermediate Finder step to right-click on the Pages v5+ document, and select compress from the contextual menu. The document is now a compressed folder, appears as a single document, and is now navigable across non-Apple software and services. The Mac recipient simply needs to double-click the compressed package, and the Finder now presents a accessible .pages document.

  • Unable to open Pages documents

I created a simple Pages document earlier this month. Now, if I try to read it, I get the error message "You need a newer version of Pages to open this up." Why? I am baffled by this when I have done nothing to Iwork at all.
    Pages is version 2.02.
    Thank You

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This is very confusing. You keep mentioning iLife, but Pages/Numbers/Keynote are in the iWork suite. For awhile after new versions of iLife are announced, but before the hard drive images on new Macs have been updated, Apple includes "drop-in" DVDs of the new version. The same usually applies to new versions of OS X. My last two new Macs fell in to this time frame.
iWork doesn't have a "drop-in" DVD since it is a separately purchased program suite & the trial of the current version is available for download. I guess it is possible to get "replacement" DVDs of any of them by contacting Apple. I did have to get my Leopard DVD replaced, but my local Apple Store replaced it with an off-the-shelf package (I took my original sales receipt as proof-of-purchase).

  • I can no longer email pages document from my ipad since last update. they sit in outbox

I am no longer able to email documents created using "Pages" from my ipad. All emails sent within pages go to my out box and sit there with a big yellow exclamation mark next to them. This has only recently started happenning, since the last time I updated "Pages". Has anyone else had similar problem?

  • Unable to email Pages 5.0 doc with track changes

In Safari, when trying to attach a Pages doc (Pages 5.0 in Mavericks) with track changes in gmail I get an "Attachment failed" error. In Chrome, I'm able to attach and send the file, but the person I've sent it to is unable to open it. Is anyone experiencing anything similar and/or has discovered a fix?
    Thanks!

No, they get an error when they try to open it, and they do have the same version of Pages. Yes, I did end up having to export it as a temporary solution, and I don't think the track changes stayed. I was wondering if not being able to send Pages files with track changes is a common issue with Pages 5.0. If you try emailing a Pages 5.0 file with track changes, are the recipients able to open it with track changes in Pages?

  • Help! Can't email pages document in pdf

I'm trying to send a one-page letter that is to be inserted into a book.  The recipient needs the document in PDF format.  I saved it in PDF but when I try to attach it, the whole text prints out into the email instead of a link to an electronic pdf file.  I am able to attach an electronic file of the Pages version, just not PDF.  I'm using Hotmail and a 2011 MacBook Air with Pages '09 version 4.3.

    BCG,
You are sending a PDF file. It's a feature of Mac Mail, and perhaps other email clients, that the content of a 1-page pdf is displayed automatically, but be assured there is an attachment there that your recepient can save and work with normally.
