Unable to execute a binary file

I'm trying to run a server following the official instructions (http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php#Server_Installing), but when I try to execute the binary i get this:
[srv@srv ventsrv]$ ./ventrilo_srv
bash: ./ventrilo_srv: No such file or directory
[srv@srv ventsrv]$
The permissions seem to be in order
[srv@srv ventsrv]$ ls -al

What's wrong?

Alright, thanks for the help all.
If ". <executable>" is wrong though, why did it say "cannot execute" and not just "command not found" as it usually does when one tries to use a non existent command?
is builtin bash command. Here is copypaste from man bash:
. filename [arguments]
source filename [arguments]
Read and execute commands from filename in the current shell environment and return the exit status of the last command executed from filename. If filename does not contain a slash, file names in PATH are used to find the directory containing filename. The file searched for in PATH need not be executable. When bash is not in posix mode, the current directory is searched if no file is found in PATH. If the sourcepath option to the shopt builtin command is turned off, the PATH is not searched. If any arguments are supplied, they become the positional parameters when filename is executed. Otherwise the positional parameters are unchanged. The return status is the status of the last command exited within the script (0 if no commands are executed), and false if filename is not found or cannot be read.

  • Siebel 8.0.0.12 Fix Pack; Unable to get the seed from binary file.

    Hello Folks,
    Can anyone throw some light into what action is required on my scenario.
    I have applied Fix Pack Siebel 8.0.0.12 on top of 8.0.0.11 SBA. After it is appled, I am facing a documented issue within the Release Notes for the 8.0.0.12 Fix Pack
    The issue is "UNABLE TO LAUNCH URL AFTER APPLYING SIEBEL 8.0.0.12". I tried the steps given with the MR document, however, I am still having this issue.
    I am also not sure what is expected at the step of; Run the following command: seedgeneratorutil myseed.dat abcdef .
    It's asking me for a value to enter for seed at command prompt. "Enter the seed":
    what I should give here. As an assumption values,I gave SADMIN and tried to launch but still shows up the same error

    Steps Details from Release Notes:
    UNABLE TO LAUNCH URL AFTER APPLYING SIEBEL 8.0.0.12
    Component: Server Infrastructure
    Subcomponent: SWSE
    Product Version: Siebel 8.0.0.12
    Base Bug ID: 11938270
    **Users are unable to launch the URL after applying the Siebel 8.0.0.12 Fix Pack.
    **Use the following workaround to address this issue:
    Navigate to the eappweb/bin directory from the command line on the SWSE installation.
    Run the following command:
    seedgeneratorutil myseed.dat abcdef
    NOTE: In the example, myseed.dat is a filename. You can give any file name you wish.
    The myseed.dat file is generated in the eappweb/bin directory.
    Edit eapps.cfg to include the following parameters under the SWE section:
    seedfile = < complete path for myseed.dat >
    Bounce the web server.
    (For Linux only) Copy libmod_swe.so from the eappweb/bin folder to the web/ohs/modules folder

  • Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied.

    Hi Everyone,
    Whenever I install some new software in my new laptop I get this error:-
    Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied.
    I have tried synchronizing the clocks but it doesn't remove the problem.
    These softwares work on another laptop that i have, which also runs windows 7.
    Can someone please tell me the solution as this is extremely urgent.
    Thanks In Advance.
    -Michael

    In short:
    ============
    My permissions were all fine, so if anyone has trouble resolving the issue after sorting permissions then make sure you try fully disabling your anti-virus / anti-spyware / firewall applications, because that was the cause for me.
    In detail:
    ============
    Problem:
    Failed to install this application
    - http://www.ssware.com/cryptoobfuscator/download.htm
    - on Windows 8.1 x64
    - Get error message "Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied."
    First Candidate Solution
    The issue turns out to NOT be security rights on the Temp folder
    ESET Smart Security HIPS Advanced Memory Scanner is the cause
    http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2908&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1392804914417
    Instead, I went and turned off all the ESS protections one by one and it turned out to be HIPS that is causing this false positive.
    In fact, it is the Advanced Memory Scanner option under HIPS that is causing the error, while the application in question is legit (using Inno Setup and presumably trying to write to the user temp folder, not sure whether just logs or to execute from there)
    Furthermore, Smart Security logs have no entries under HIPS even though I ticked "Log all blocked operations" under the HIPS "Advanced setup" - it was quite a journey to find out the cause :)
    Thank you. I have the same OS and installed ESET Smart Security as well. And it is resolved now.
    I just want to add, that by "Temporarily disable protection" and "Temporarily disable firewall", it doesn't work. You have to disable HIPS, as KristjanL said.

  • Read binary files that are wraped in the downloaded executable signed jar

    Hello, there:
    I have created a Swing application and created a signed jar file and uploaded it to my site. The signed jar includes class packages, and a folder of binary files which are the datasource for my application.
    jws downloads this signed executable jar, it'll automatically run it, but it has problems reading the binary folders wrapped in itself (the app is supposed to read the folder's structure and use the info to create a JTree object, and read the file's content as well). Is it the file path conversion problem? Do we need to use URL instead? I tried it after reading some threads on this forum but didn't make it.
    As an alternatives, I want JWS to unjar the jar file and expand it to exploded files. I manually unjar it and run the app from command line, it works fine.
    Plus, the app is supposed to manipulate the binary files when it's in process, like saving new content back to the files, zip the files and upload them to the remote sql server. therefore, I think it's easy to have it run when it's expanded.
    So here is the question: JWS by default is running the executable jar, is there a way to tell JWS to unzip the jar and find the main class in the exploded files and run it?
    Thanks a lot for your suggestions,
    Sway

    You can get to any resource in a jar file in your classpath. The code below will return InputStream for resource.bin nested two packages down.
    InputStream in = YourClass.class.getResourceAsStream("/com/mypackage/resouce.bin");  //use '/' instead of '.'You can open a FileOutputStream to write that file.
    OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream("myTempResource.bin");
    IOUtil.streamAndClose(in,out);If the resouce is a nested zip or nested jar then you can use the Java Zip utilities to unwrap the stream.

  • [SOLVED] cannot execute binary file / humble bundle

    I'm having trouble executing a number of games I've downloaded via Humble Bundle. One game, for example, I downloaded as "supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin". Here are some of the outputs I get while attempting to execute:
    $ bash supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin
    supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin: supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin: cannot execute binary file
    $ sh supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin
    supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin: supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin: cannot execute binary file
    $ ./supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin
    bash: ./supermeatboy-linux-06072012-bin: No such file or directory
    I'm getting the same scenario from a number of other games so I suspect the issue to be with either my environment or my approach.
    My architecture is x86_64
    I'd be more than happy to supply any additional environmental information

    Hint: a supermeatboy package exists in the AUR but I've never used it.

    multilib is enabled and I installed lib32-glibc-2.18-8 succesfully, however am getting the same issue. I see whole a lot of different lib32 packages available, are there maybe some more I should try?
    Worth noting that I do have all of the depencies installed that AUR suggests supermeatboy uses
    I suppose I could install via pacman, but this wouldn't solve the issue for the few other games with the same errors. I'm mostly just looking to learn how to make it work

    hemadri

    Hi Hemadribabu,
    >>”string or binary data would be truncated”
    As my research, the error above could occur in the case of passing string or binary data, whose length is larger than received object. So I recommend you to run the Transact-SQL script in SQL Server query window to check if this kind of issue exists, or
    you can post your entire script for further analysis.
    >> “unable to open step output file”
    In addition, as for the error above, this issue can be caused by two reasons below.
    1. The path of the output file is invalid. To fix the issue, please follow the steps below.
        a. Double click on the SQL Agent job.
        b. Switch to Steps tab, and click Edit.
        c. Click Advanced option.
        d. Change the path under Output file or delete the path. For a UNC path, you can
    map a network drive and use the network drive instead.
    2. Your account doesn’t have access to the folder. Transact-SQL job step runs as the owner of the job step, or as the SQL Server Agent service account. So please check the type of the job step and the account which your job step runs as, and make sure that
    it has access to the folder. For more information about the process, please review the similar thread:

  • How to open and read binary files?

    How do I open and read Binary files?

    Did you  look on The Unarchiver's web site where it has a link to older versions? http://theunarchiver.googlecode.com/files/TheUnarchiver3.2_legacy.zip
    The best thing to do is ask your friends what programs they used to produce these files, or at least what format files they are producing.  Otherwise it's like being shown a car and given a bundle of 200 keys with no idea to which one to use, or even if any of them work with that car.
    Using The Unarchiver will likely not do anything because it too will not know what format files are involved, and they may not even been in an archived format.  If they sent you a Word file without telling you (a favorite of Windows users to do  -- it drives me crazy when they could have just sent them in plain text), The Unarchiver won't open them.  If it's a picture file then using Hexedit will just show you a bunch of unintelligible stuff as shown in an earlier post, though you may see a line of text providing a hint.
    As I said earlier, often .bin may be an executable program which needs another program to actually interpret it.  That's what Java is trying to do.  Still, it may think it can execute the file, but it is highly unlikely somebody would send you an executable program (and if they did I would not trust it).  For all you know it may be a Windows virus.
