Unable to export AIR application in FlashBuilder 4

Hi,
I have just finished an AIR application created in Flash Builder 4 / SDK 4.1.
But  I have systematically a problem while exporting the application with  the Flash Builder wizard / button Export to a validated version.
When I double click on the generated .air file, I've got the error :
'This application cannot be installed because the installation program has not be configured correctly'.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Using async in an AIR application?

    After reading this FlexUnit tutorial:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flashbuilder4_tdd.html
    I downloaded the files here:
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/flashbuilder4_tdd_source.zip
    ...and changed the project, FlexUnit4Examples, to an AIR application via FlashBuilder.  After I did that, it no longer passes all of its asynchronous tests.
    Do asynchronous tests have any issues or limitations with AIR?

    The problem I had was not related to FlexUnit.  It was the way I was tried to access the file system when it was an AIR application.  I used FileStream instead of what was in the tutorial that worked with a web base application, which was HTTPService.
    Since I am new with unit testing, I assumed that it was the test that was coded wrong.  I suppose I havent trusted my unit tests enough, since it told me that my source code was incorrect.

  • Air application stuck in portrait mode

    Hi.
    I have created an air application using FlashBuilder 4.5 for IOS devices. The device currently has version 7.0.4. Although I have specified it to rotate to landscape in my app it just gets stuck on portrait on the IPAD. It rotates perfectly to landscape on andriod devices.
            <fullScreen>true</fullScreen>
            <aspectRatio>landscape</aspectRatio>
            <autoOrients>false</autoOrients>
            <visible>true</visible>
    Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone know how to resolve it? I have even tried to removed all settings that force it to fit to a specific aspect ratio but it still only shows as portait.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    I've fixed the problem!
    I think the problem was in the way I was linking to the libraries. I ended up deleting all my hand made ANT settings and instead exporting the settings from my Flash Builder project, and just using those.

  • Unable to send file in binary mode to ftp server using AIR application

    Hi,  Can any one help me. i am trying to send local files to ftp server  in binary mode from AIR application using sockets.
    I cant use PASV mode for this FTP server because security restrictions. when i am trying to send Binary command i am always getting
    error code 500 which is unrecognized command. I googled for solutions but i cant find any one using Binary mode to send data every example is using PASV mode to send
    file.
    code example:
    private function upload():void{
    sendCommand("binary ");
    private function sendCommand(arg:String):void {
                                            arg +="\n";
                                            s.writeUTFBytes(arg);
                                            s.flush();
    in response i am getting unrecognized command.

    I'm successfully using an ftp example from http://http://projects.maliboo.pl/FlexFTP/
    that I converted to spark and uses a popup progress window.
    If you don't need to use sockets I can post a sample project.
    I believe I still connect with PASV, but have no problems sending Binary files.
    I don't think they're commands that are dependent on each other

  • How to play and stop flv files through NetStream in AIR Application

    Hi,
    In a folder I have 'n' number of flv file, which are DRM protected. when the user try to play those files for the first time through my AIR application, it will prompt for username and password and gets the license/voucher from the server and store it in AIR Runtime. so that from the next time onwords it won't prompt for username and password as because it already has license/voucher.
         My problem is assume there are 500 files, such that for each file the user has to enter his credentials[username and password]. which is a stupid thing. I want to avoid this process by implementing this process internally/programetically. By playing/accessing each file through netstream from the folder and setDRMAuthenticationCredentials for that file and stop the stream. Here I am able to play each file but I am failed to stop it. I mean to say I will get the license for all the flv files internally[while loading my AIR application], such that user should not be interrupted for his credentials for each file.He should play as if he is accessing/playing a non-DRM protected file. I will be very thank full if any one help me out in this.

  • Flash Builder 4 for Mac: Unable to export a release build

    Hi
    I've been unable to export release builds of any AIR projects when using a Mac installation of Flash Builder 4. I can run the AIR apps within the IDE, but I keep getting the following error when exporting: "One or more errors were found while trying to build the release version. Unable to export."
    The weird thing is that I can export the exact same AIR projects using my Windows 7 copy of FB4 just fine, without any errors.
    Details of the Mac installation:
    OSX 10.5.8
    Flash Builder 4 plug-in version, v4.0.1, on Eclipse v3.4.2
    I performed a fresh install of FB4 today (before anyone suggests it ) but to no avail.
    The error log - I wasn't sure what to copy, so just took everything that had the right time entry:

    Hi Chris
    Thanks for your reply.
    I had already seen that post, and the answers were not applicable to me. But thankfully I have found the solution now!
    I Googled the error message: "org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredElementImpl.getTextContent()Ljava/lang/ String", and came across the following bug report:
    http://code.google.com/p/alkwarel/issues/detail?id=10
    As suggested in the link above, I deleted the xerces.jar  located in user.home/Library/Java/Extensions/. I then cleaned my project, and FB4 for Mac finally exported the release build!
    That bug has been annoying me for MONTHS. I'm so happy it's fixed now!
    All the best,
    Zabeen

  • Installing a LARGE AIR application

    Hello,
    I am attempting to create an installer for Windows that installs the AIR runtime, our application, and all the content required such that any user can log in and use the application. Our application is an educational tool for autistic children, and will be installed in lab environments in schools.
    Our AIR application by itself is not large - about 5MB. However, it relies upon about 600MB of external assets. These include various forms of media: images, audio clips, SWFs etc. If I try to bundle all of this into a single AIR file using FlashBuilder 4, FlashBuilder dies due to lack of memory to the JVM. I have tried to increase memory to the JVM, but even given the maximum it still does not work. I then attempted to package and sign the AIR file using the command line tools. That appears to work, however that operation results in a bloated AIR file that is over 1GB in size, almost double the size of the content packaged into it. If I attempt to use the sidecar installer provided by Adobe to install this AIR file the installer dies. Further investigation shows that others have hit this same size limitation with AIR files, but there is no resolution in site to this problem.
    Since it seemed impossible to package the entire application into a single AIR file my next attempt was to keep the content separate from the AIR application. I have experimented with Installshield, but have found no way to chain together the sidecar installer MSI with another MSI that installs the content to the same location. I could install the AIR application, and then let the application itself finish the installation by copying the content to app-storage://, but then the application is only usable by the user who installed it. In a lab environment in a school this doesn't work, because typically the person who is installing the application is an administrator, not the end user. app-storage:// resides under a user's directory, not in a shared location. The application is unable to copy files to the app:// location due to the security model of AIR.
    I know that I can do a silent install from the command line using the sidecar installer, but I haven't found a way to chain this together with another MSI that installs the content. It could be that I am too limited by what Installshield Express offers. I am now attempting to use NSIS.
    Any advice anyone may have on how to do this is very appreciated. Surely others have needed to install large media rich AIR applications on Windows. AIR is a great platform for us in many respects, but I must be able to create an easy seamless install process for end users. Our product will be going into use over the next 6 months by over 1000 users, and that number will grow quickly. I would be willing to pay for a support incident from Adobe if that is warranted.
    Thanks
    Kevin MacDonald

    After much gnashing of teeth I I came up with what appears to be a workable solution. I am posting my solution here for the benefit of others. I was able to use NSIS to create an installer that first installs my AIR application via Adobe silent install feature (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/air_runtime_redist/air_runtime_redist.pdf), and then proceeds to install the content in the same folder. The end result is an application that should work for all users and is a reasonably seamless installation experience . The only downside is that you wind up with a total of 3 new items in the Programs & Features control panel: one for Adobe AIR, one for the NSIS installer, and one for the AIR application. The uninstaller only removes the NSIS installer, but that zaps all the content off the disk so it's not terrible. Another little gotcha is that the install folder in this script needs to match the folder in the descriptor file of the AIR application, because everything needs to wind up in the same folder.
    This also assumes you have permission from Adobe to redistribute the AIR runtime.
    My NSIS script is below.

  • How to provide terms & conditions option while installing an AIR application

    Hi
    I have an AIR application which is developed using flex SDK. I have got an requirement that when the user tries to install the AIR application, I need to display the terms & conditions details. If the user accepts the terms & conditions, it need to be install the application. Is it possible to do?
    And also i need to set the expiration date (i.e. trial period) so the application gets expired on the specified date in the user's machine. I am not sure whether these two things are possible? Please advice.
    Thanks

    Hi Douglas,
    Thanks very much (and to Chris) for getting back to me.
    I attached a zip file that is a small 'hello world' AIR application that I
    compiled using FlashBuilder 4, configured to use the 4.1 sdk. I also
    attached the self-signed certificate I used when exporting the release
    build. The password for this is dogdish. This application gives the error
    messages I indicated in my post when attempting to install on the Mac where
    the AIR runtime is not yet installed.
    We recently upgraded from FlexBuilder 3 to FlashBuilder 4, which I believe
    is when this issue started. I followed the instructions for doing a side-car
    installation and had no problems with either Mac or Windows when using
    FlexBuilder 3.
    Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Error when trying to install any air application from my flex builder project

    I have a serious problem, I am unable to install any exported air file created in my AppTest project. I just keep getting an error saying: "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author."
    I am using FlexBuilder 3 to build and export my app release build. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
    Adam

    I'd try un-then-reinstalling and making sure any overlay that you're applying (update of SDKs, etc.) are done correctly.

  • Change desktop air application installer icon

    Hi,
    Im making an application in flashbuilder 4.6, and im exporting it to air desktop. The installer has the default icon, i tried putting the icon for all sizes in the descriptor file, without success:
    <icon>
            <image16x16>assets/16x16-FF.png</image16x16>
            <image32x32>assets/32x32-FF.png</image32x32>
            <image36x36>assets/36x36-FF.png</image36x36>
            <image48x48>assets/48x48-FF.png</image48x48>
            <image57x57>assets/57x57-FF.png</image57x57>
            <image72x72>assets/72x72-FF.png</image72x72>
            <image114x114>assets/114x114-FF.png</image114x114>
            <image128x128>assets/128x128-FF.png</image128x128>
        </icon>
    Any help will be appreciated, thanks

    I had tried the same in my applications.But it didnt work. So I have moved the png files into src folder and given the path in following manner.
    <icon>
            <image16x16>16x16-FF.png</image16x16>
            <image128x128>128x128-FF.png</image128x128>
        </icon>
    Since the app-descriptor file and other application level files are present at application level(src), so I have put the related icons over there and other images in assets folder.You may try this.

    I've unable to Export iMovie project in everyway I have attempted for the past 2 weeks.I have a late 2012 iMac with 8gb of RAM and 700 gb of free space on the hard drive. The video I am trying to export is 48 mins long with most of the source footage from a NIkon D3100 and several other cammcorders. I've been exporting with Apple Intermediate codec because that was the only one that has work so far but it only worked once and since then I have had to make changes to the project and now I'm unable to get it to work. For all Quicktime exports in H.264 or AIC (my prefered format for this export since I figured it'd offer the highest quality when I import it into Encore for making a dvd out of it) Which just stops exporting in the last few minutes without explination as to why or it crashes and quits. It either leaves a partial file or nothing at all. When I do "export movie" I get a "not enough memory Heap zone error"
    I don't know what to do any help would be greatly appreciated!
    By the way I happen to have Adobe CS6 Production Premium but didn't know how to use it as well when starting the project and now really regret not using it because it appears to be 10x more stable and capable of handling all the tasks I want it to do.

    Hi
    Error -108 memFullErr  Ran out of memory [not enough room in heap zone]
    Turn off - TimeMachine usually works - re-try.
    (the Application down in the Dock - not the Device)
    But this can mean many thing's - My first thought is
    Free Space on Start-Up hard disk. How much ? (other disks do not count)

    Are your event clips in h.264? If so, you can solve this by Right clicking on your Event Name and choose "Optimize Media". You can choose Full for 1080P or Large for 960P according to your preference.
    After you have optimized your Event, you should be able to Share with no problem.

    -108 mean you are running out of (free) RAM.
    Try restarting the computer just prior to sharing. That frees up RAM.

    Final Entry
    Ok - after much cutting, trial and error and days of work I have never really established a root cause for the -108 error. Nothing I did resolved the issue to the orginal project.
    The only work around I have found is to split the Original Project into two.
    What I found was that anything around the 60 mins mark and above just failed to render in HD and showed the -108 error.
    What worked for me was creating two project files - one around 57mins long - the other a part 2 - around 17 mins long. All using exactly the same source clips, photo's, music and transitions as the orginal.
    This now works. I guess having it split in two makes it a little easier to work with as I wont have to keep rendering the first part which does not change but really wish Apple would throw some light on this.
    Anyway - I hope all of the above at least proves useful for others.
    Good Luck
