Unable to fetch row...No data found

Hello,
After table being truncated, and new data set being inserted in that table, I'm getting the following error message 'no data found...unable to fetch row' . Data was getting fetched in the form by the primary key with the original data set in the table, but after truncate/insert, it is no longer working.
Any idea why?

hm

  • OnError in form: Error Unable to fetch row

    Hello,
    I'm trying to create such functionality, that in report "edit" link leads to form on another table. Everything is ok with rows, that exist in that table (i can edit them in form). But I want, that if row does not exist - the form should open the "Create record" window.
    Now i get an error:
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Error Unable to fetch row.
    Maybe some computation needs to be done for primary key?
    Thanks.

    I requested for workspace in apex.oracle.com, but i solved the problem sooner. I created one more column ir report (using the unique column left join), which was the primary key of the other table and included it into EDIT link.

  • Unable to fetch row opening form on table

    Hi all,
    i have a page with 2 regions, a form on table for DML and a report region that lists the same table.
    I am trying to create records in the form and then recall them by report row link for changes.
    I cant test if all that stuff can work because i when i run the page after first time an Unable to fetch row error is raised.
    After that i have to logout and login and run the page again.
    I do my best to explain the problem but feel free to ask for more.
    Any kind of help or suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks, Alex

    Hi,
    yes this is the problem.
    When i run the page the first time it seem to work fine but after editing, just edit page and run again , the error is raised and the only way out is to logout apex.
    My expectation was that if i run the page setting the rowid item , that is the pk of the tabular form, the region appear with setting for insert.
    Greets.

  • ORA-01403: no data found  .  Error Unable to fetch row

    Hi
    I have a form that, when inserting a new record, should submit the form but remain in the same page with the same info. I have set up the "after processing" branch (unconditional) to redirect to that specific page (page 5), the "reset pagination for this page" option selected and "clear cache" option empty. What happens is that, when inserting a new record, i get error ORA-01403 indicating that it's unable to fetch the record. Although i get this error, the new record is inserted in the DB... I have also selected option "Only when current value in session state is null" for source used for all fields of form. What am i doing wrong? I thank in advance all replies!

    Hi again
    Because you have a trigger on the table that selects the current max(ID)+1, when creating the form you should have used "Existing Trigger"when defining the source for the primary key, not "Existing Sequence". You should also change the trigger to use the sequence.NEXTVAL for the ID.
    When you created the form using "Exisitng Sequence", Apex would have created a "Get PK" process which gets the primary key value from the sequence before passing control to the DML process. You should delete the Get PK process and let the database trigger do it's job.
    In the DML process, set "Item Containing Primary Key Column Value" to the page item name e.g. "P5_ID", and set "Primary Key Column" to "ID" (the name of your table column).
    That should do the trick.
    Cheers

  • Unable to fetch requisition lines data from package POR_CUSTOM_PKG.CUSTOM_VALIDATE_REQ_DIST

    Problem Description
    We need to validate the Distribution data and based on that we will throw Error with respective Line Number. But the line number is not in the parameter list of this procedure POR_CUSTOM_PKG.CUSTOM_VALIDATE_REQ_DIST. So we thought of deriving the Line Number by querying the table po_requisition_lines_all by passing the parent_req_line_id. But unfortunately the query is throwing no data found exception though the related line records are seen from the backend.
    Request your help to fetch the requisition line number from this procedure POR_CUSTOM_PKG.CUSTOM_VALIDATE_REQ_DIST
    Thanks & Regards,
    Munish Mittal

    Hi,
    This is just for the information that the issue is resolved for me by using the below code.
    begin
    select parent_req_line_id into l_line_id_1 from dual;
    select requisition_line_id, line_num into l_line_id, l_line_num
    from po_requisition_lines_all
    where requisition_line_id = l_line_id_1;
    exception when others then
    null;
      end;

  • ORA-01403: no data found Problem when using AUTOMATIC ROW FETCH to populate

    ORA-01403: no data found Problem when using AUTOMATIC ROW FETCH to populate a form.
    1) Created a FORM on EMP using the wizards. This creates an AUTOMATIC ROW FETCH
    TABLE NAME - EMP
    Item Containing PRIMARY KEY - P2099_EMPNO
    Primary key column - EMPNO
    By default the automatic fetch has a ‘Process Error Message’ of ‘Unable to fetch row.’
    2) Created a HTML region. Within this region add
    text item P2099_FIND_EMPNO
    Button GET_EMP to submit
    Branch Modified the conditional branch created during button creation to set P2099_EMPNO with &P2099_FIND_EMPNO.
    If I then run the page, enter an existing employee number into P2099_EMPNO and press the GET_EMP button the form is populated correctly. But if I enter an employee that does not exist then I get the oracle error ORA-01403: no data found and no form displayed but a message at the top of the page ‘Action Processed’.I was expecting a blank form to be displayed with the message ‘Unable to fetch row.’
    I can work around this by making the automated fetch conditional so that it checks the row exists first. Modify the Fetch row from EMP automated fetch so that it is conditional
    EXIST (SQL query returns at least one row)
    select 'x'
    from EMP
    where EMPNO = :P2099_EMPNO
    But this means that when the employee exists I must be fetching from the DB twice, once for the condition and then again for the actual row fetch.
    Rather than the above work around is there something I can change so I don’t get the Oracle error? I’m now wondering if the automatic row fetch is only supposed to be used when linking a report to a form and that I should be writing the fetch process manually. The reason I haven’t at the moment is I’m trying to stick with the automatic wizard generation as much as I can.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks Pete

    Hi Mike,
    I've tried doing that but it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I turn debug on it shows below.
    0.05: Computation point: AFTER_HEADER
    0.05: Processing point: AFTER_HEADER
    0.05: ...Process "Fetch Row from EMP": DML_FETCH_ROW (AFTER_HEADER) F|#OWNER#:EMP:P2099_EMPNO:EMPNO
    0.05: Show ERROR page...
    0.05: Performing rollback...
    0.05: Processing point: AFTER_ERROR_HEADER
    I don't really wan't the error page, either nothing with the form not being populated or a message at the top of the page.
    Thanks Pete

  • ORA-01403: no data found error (given by edit link of APEX-made form)

    Hello!
    I am a newbie in apex, so please forgive me if my question is stupid or obvious. I got a bit confused because of a problem, and I really hope that you professionals can give me some clues of where could I begin the elimination of this error.
    I made a report and a form in another page with APEX's tool Add Form/Report and Form. The report shows a full table, and the rows of the table are editable. However, I have rows which I can't edit because APEX gives me the following error:
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Error Unable to fetch row.
    Not all rows do this, but I have a few that do. Of course the report shows them, so I think they must exist. I didn't change anything special on the APEX-made items or processes.
    I thought that the problem could be with my data, but I couldn't see anything weird in that rows.
    Does anyone have an idea of what can this be caused by? I have APEX 2.1.0.00.39.
    Thanks,
    Eszter

    Hi Andy,
    Thank you very much for your time!
    The fields in the form are all right. The fields get filled in perfectly in most of the cases, only those few rows don't :(
    However, now that you wrote of the process of row fetching, I think that maybe I have an idea of what is happening. My table has two primary keys (two fields together make the primary key, I don't know how it's called in English), one of them is a date. (I know that this is quite a bad practice, but, much to my regret, I cannot change it.) Now, this date is in YY-MON-DD format, which is used by my language.
    One of this dates is from 1800's. As my report shows it, the year gets truncated to the last two character. APEX passes this value into the field of the form using varchar2, and when it tries to cast it back to YY-MON-DD format, then it supposes it's from 1900's instead of 1800's. With 19xx however it doesn't find my field.
    Does this sound logical? It seems logical to me, but I am a beginner... :(
    Still, if this is the core of the problem, it's most possibly not the only problem, because I have dates from 19xx which can't identify their rows... But I am suspicious because of these date things. If you have any idea then please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Eszter

  • ORA-01403: no data found

    I am trying to make Form on a Table with Report.
    And my Form is ok, I can successfully insert data. But the problem is report. When I click
    on EDIT button, when I want to change inserted data, I get error message:
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Error      Unable to fetch row.
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error ORA-01403 no data found. I have a hidden item called Temporary item which i created as i have a report that appears with additional information when clicked on show_detail. I created this item by looking at this:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:13:2667331074727537::NO:RP::
    At the top of page 24 i have a text box and a search button Go that presents the report that matches the number that the user will type in the text box. I have created a branch to the same page. In my Report region i have code that will select the information from the database where id = :P24_SEARCH_ID
    P24_SEARCH_ID is the text box.
    I tried inserting in the branch> set TEMPORARY_ITEM to values P24_SEARCH_ID and then insert id=:TEMPORARY_ITEM in the region , but this would not work.
    Sometimes the Go button works but when i log out and log back into apex and try running it, i get the error
    Any suggestions as to how i can make it work always?

  • HTML DB not data found

    I am developing a simple application with HTML DB.
    On one of my forms , I started entering a data then i stopped and changed tab when i came back i got the below message:
    Error      Unable to fetch row.
    OK
    ORA-01403: no data found
    I know there is data. There a report on the same page based on the table.

    I get this sometimes too. There is a bug somewhere in HTMLDB but I can't track down exactly what it is. Can you try removing all order by choices in the report attributes and see if this allows the report to run, then put the order by choices back one at a time.

  • Do Data Found Error on Inserting a Record

    I am working in Apex 4.0.
    I'm getting this error when I click the "Create" button to insert a record.
    ORA-01403: no data found
         Error      Unable to fetch row.
    Since I'm inserting rather than fetching, why would I get this error? What do I need to do to suppress it?

    Arie, thanks for the response. I suspected the automatic Row Processing might be the problem. But I did not (and still don't) know how to fix it.
    Here's what's happening. The page involved is part of an insurance tracking system. At the time of annual renewal of a policy, we create a new record for the next year. This is done by including in the new record all usuable data fields from the old expiring record. I use a button to navigate to the current page (page 22 to page 22) and set values (from the old page 22) of items in the new page 22. The user then makes a couple of manual entries and then clicks the "Create" button which appears on the new page 22 since the primary key is null. The new record is then correctly inserted into the table, and the system branches back to a calling page. It is at this time that the error occurs.
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Error Unable to fetch row.
    A database trigger gets the new primary key from a sequence generator and puts it into the record on insert. Here's the SQL on the trigger:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER "UCC_AUTO_SEQ"
    BEFORE
    insert on "UCC"
    for each row
    begin
    select ucc_seq.nextval
    into :new.uccseq
    from dual;
    end;
    May be that I can fix this if you will explain to me what you mean by this: "My guess is that your page includes an ARF process and you didn’t set the return key item, or you didn’t use the RETURNING clause, so the ARF process can’t fetch the newly inserted record." Forgive my ignorance, but I do not know what a "RETURNING clause" is. I checked out the Source: Automatic Row Processing (DML) and found that the item labeled "Return Key Into Item" was blank. I put "P22_INSURESEQ" (the primary key item) into this field, but the error is still being thrown. The "Action Processed" message always appears in its own window just above the error message.

  • Oracle Gird Control 11g (11.1.0.1.0) having "No Data Found" in SOA SCA

    Dear All,
    Having strange problems while using Weblogic Middleware Targets in Grid Control. After successful registration of new WebLogic Domain, I can not control/administer managed servers, SOA composites, WLS domain application deployments as after right click I get context menu in Firefox (FF 3.6.x, FF 4) darked and disabled. The context menu is rendered, but user can not choose item. Only works properly in Google Chrome.
    Next problem that using Weblogic Middleware Targets in Grid Control any metrics as throughout graph, error instances, services & references, component metrics, response and load graphs, CPU, memory ... all data are unavailable or no data fetch, or no data found.
    What we can see is only item status if it is running or not.
    When I login directly to WLS console, or EM the statistics and graphs are present. No logs, no error reported by GC 11g.

    Hi all,
    does anyone know whether there is any system component pre-requisite, apart from installing xdk, in order for acl to work?
    I have this question because after trying different methods we finally made utl_smtp worked on a testing server two days ago (without exactly know what made it work). Then, we tried to redo the whole process (i.e. create brand new database, import data, create acl, run the email function). Out of luck, we fell back to ORA-24247: network access denied by access control list (ACL) problem again. we compared the two databases but found no clue why one working another failed.
    By checking the result of the two databases for the following
    select host, lower_port, upper_port, acl
    from dba_network_acls;
    select principal, privilege, is_grant, acl
    from dba_network_acl_privileges;
    acl on both are the same
    Is there any thing we missed out? any hidden pre-requisite?
    This is urgent. Could somebody help? please
    Some more update:
    the database (say X) where acl works has "SYSTEM" as one of the owners of 'UTL_TCP','UTL_SMTP','UTL_MAIL','UTL_HTTP','UTL_INADDR' but in database (say Y) where acl doesn't work "SYSTEM" is not part of owner of 'UTL_TCP','UTL_SMTP','UTL_MAIL','UTL_HTTP','UTL_INADDR'
    in X, acl is granted to a role, email invoker with such role can send email successfully;
    in Y, both acl on user and acl on role do not work at all.

  • netui-data:pager action to dynamically fetch rows

    Hi,
    How can I configure a data grid pager to dynamically fetch new rows when a user swap pages through the pager?
    I know I can fetch all my rows to a collection / array before rendering the datagrid and set the pager to iterate over it like this:
    [Controller]
    private List<Ride> rides;
    public List<Ride> getRides() {
         return rides;
    [Action]
    rides = rideDBControl.getAllRides(); // huge amount of data
    return forward;
    [JSP]
         <div style="border-width:2px;"><netui-data:dataGrid name="currentRidesGrid" dataSource="pageFlow.rides">
              <netui-data:configurePager pagerFormat="prevNext" pageSize="${pageSize}" />
              <netui-data:header>
                   <netui-data:headerCell headerText="Name" />
                   <netui-data:headerCell headerText="Description" />
              </netui-data:header>
              <netui-data:rows>
                   <netui-data:spanCell value="${container.item.name}" style="background-color: #f0f0f0;font-size:14pt;">
                   </netui-data:spanCell>
                   <netui-data:spanCell value="${container.item.description}">
                   </netui-data:spanCell>
              </netui-data:rows>
         </netui-data:dataGrid></div>
    But how can I make the pager call a method to update the contents of the collection "rides" according to the current selected page and page size? And how can I obtain the current page and page size inside that method?
    I want to paginate queries that may return a huge amount of data (1m + rows), so, fetching all rows at once is impracticable. What I want to do is propagate the current page and page size from the pager to a method that will update the current collection according to a query such as:
    Select X, Y, Z
    From Table
    Where ...
    And ROWNUM BETWEEN page * pageSize AND (page + 1) * pageSize
    Can anyone help a noob?

    For further reference I've found the answer by myself.
    To dynamically fetch rows you need to modify the <netui-data:configurePager> tag and include both a pageAction and partialDataSet attributes, e.g.:
    <netui-data:configurePager pagerFormat="prevNext" pageSize="${pageSize}" pageAction="pagination" partialDataSet="true" />
    Within the pagination action you can obtain the current row and page size from a PagerModel object. You can then update the dataSource (just remember to call the setDataSetSize providing the length of the full dataset so that the pager displays the correct amount of pages), e.g.:
    @Jpf.Action(forwards = { @Jpf.Forward(name = "success", navigateTo = Jpf.NavigateTo.currentPage) })
         public Forward pagination() {
              DataGridStateFactory dataGridStateFactory = DataGridStateFactory
                        .getInstance(getRequest());
    // Gets the pagerModel object for the grid
              PagerModel pagerModel = dataGridStateFactory.getDataGridState(
                        "currentRidesGrid").getPagerModel();
    // => Code to get the entire dataSource size <=
              pagerModel.setDataSetSize(dataSourceSize);
              // Obtain the first row and page size from the model
              int firstRow = pagerModel.getRow();
              int pageSize = pagerModel.getPageSize();
              // => Code to fetch the rows to be displayed <=
              rides = pageRides;
              Forward forward = new Forward("success");
              return forward;
    I hope this helps.
    Cheers

    has anyone fell on this problem and solved it?
    Igor

    OK, solved :o)))
    Inside the package function returning URL to call, I insert a row into the table to query and I return its sequence number. The function is launched by an application outside APEX.
    So, if I don't make commit immediately before returning URL, APEX sees nothing.
    I have added a commit before returning from the function and now everything is OK.
