Unable to fix WRT54G

I've been using my WRT54G as a wired router lately. I have CenturyTel DSL service. I run the DSL line from the wall to their modem, then to the WRT54G. I then run two ethernet lines to the computers that are connected. This worked fine until a couple of days ago. The WRT54G's power light began blinking and would no longer connect. Looking on the site here, I found out that I needed to update the firmware.
(http://www3.nohold.net/noHoldCust56/Prod_6/KnowledgePortal/KPScripts/amsviewer.asp?docid=f86d36feaf7945ae83456e5112d39a14_KB4573_EN_070207_v1.xml&amsstatsid=6956474)
I downloaded the firmware as well as tftp.exe. However, I can't connect to it. When I run the cable from the wall to the DSL modem to my computer, I get my normal connection. When I go from the wall to the modem to the WRT54G to my computer, I get no internet connection and cannot connect via tftp.exe (I get an error saying no response.)
I have disabled the WinXP Firewall - using a ping 192.168.1.1 gets me nowhere (full loss) even with the Firewalls disabled. No anti-virus software running either.
How do I update the firmware when I can't get an internet connection?

Hard reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...If the power light is solid you may download and upgrade the firmware...Also make sure that your computer is set to obtain IP automatically, disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page.
If the power light is still blinking, reset your router again for a minute...After resetting the router check the lights again...
If the power light is still blinking you need to assign your computer a static ip address,
Click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>>Network Connections- Right click on the icon for Local area connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the following IP address'- Provide IP Address - 192.168.1.5 Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1, click on ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...
Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter, if you get 4 Replies then you should be able to upgrade your router's firmware...
At any point if you want to upgrade the router's firmware here are the instructions :
Double click the tftp.exe file and click run :
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Unable to fix a nuked Blackberry

Hi All, I am new here, but have searched the web for a solution to this problem.
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 which won't turn on and just has the red led light flashing sequence. I have looked at various different posts on how to restore a "nuked" BB, but none of them work. I have downloaded the latest OS, used JL Cmder, tried the app loader solution and none have worked. The option for Com 1 or anything does not appear in the apploader screen so am unable to get it out of boot sequence. Tried with battery out, nothing works. I have checked the ports in the device manager on my laptop, all appears to work there, yet I am unable to fix this darn phone.
Please help an extremly frustrated newbie :-)

Using the KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader. I get the following message "Before you begin, verify that your current blackberry device is connected to your computer" there aren't any options, just that message and the blackberry is connected to the laptop so I can't update this way.
I actually think that method might be the best for you...but I don't find anywhere in the KB any reference to what you say you see. Nor can I tell, from your words, on which step of the KB this happens. So I'm unclear how to help, since I can't quite understand. But I do think this one might be the best one for you to use, given that it's specifically intended to force your BB to be detected.
    FrustratedNewbie wrote:
I tried using the update option in article KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
via firefox, this opens the application loader software, but I get a device connection box pop up that say's please connect your device and a dropdown to select the pin for the device, however there are no options in the drop down as the blackberry is not being detected, so this option doesn't work either.
That might lead you to the next one recommended...it discusses ways to deal with this. Plus, it can sometimes be a matter of timing...when you connect versus where the Desktop Software is in it's process versus where the BB is in it's boot up process. It can be tricky, and I've had situations where I tried truly 25 times before I just happened to get the timing right and it could proceed.
    FrustratedNewbie wrote:
If I could just get the software to detect the blackberry then I'm sure one of these options would work, as it has for others.
The BB just seems to be stuck. The display is off, it is just the red light sequence: 1 slow red light, 3 fast red lights, then 1 slow light. This is the only activity I am getting on the BB.
Hmmm...it could also be that the battery is too depleted to continue. If that's the case, then nothing will work correctly. Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
    FrustratedNewbie wrote:
I do know that she originaly got an error mesage, I think it was 504 or 507, she tried to fix it, but disconnected the BB while it was trying to reboot, so I think it is stuck in the reboot sequence.
I've never seen a 504, but a 507 means that there is no OS loaded on the device at all, and these tricks indeed can get the OS to load onto the device.
    FrustratedNewbie wrote:
Are there any keys I can press on the BB to do a master reset do you know?
No. In the condition as you describe it, there is nothing you can do directly on the device. Only by succeeding via PC/USB can the device be recovered (assuming, of course, that there is no hardware failure...).

  • UNABLE TO FIX: "There was an error opening the database for the library"

Like many others I have received the "There was an error opening the database for the library" error message today after a mid-Aperture processing session crash. However, unlike others I have been unable to fix the database...
I have trashed all prefs, tried merging with a new library, tried repairing permissions, repairing the database, AND rebuilding the database, and have tried disk utility. Nothing works. Repair permissions did it's job, but didn't fix it. Repair Database doesn't even start to work and the Aperture utility quits immediately. Rebuild Database crunches away for about a minute then stops, and eventually quits itself with no error message.
Aperture works fine with other databases, just not my main one. I'm worried that maybe it won't rebuild because the library is 500 gigs and I only have 200 gigs of free space, but that's pure speculation.
Anybody out there experienced this same issue and come up with a solution? I know I can pull my masters out of the Aperture package, but I have 500 gigs of edits too... anyway to force rebuild the database by tossing the database files in the package or something?
    Thanks!

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. Even with the 420 gig library on the drive I had 520 gigs free (1TB drive). In any case since I had made a duplicate of the library I began to pull files from the Aperture Library > Database directory and I seemed to have fixed it enough to allow Aperture to Rebuild the Database.
I ended up tossing all the .plist files and the Library.apdb file in the Database directory within the Aperture Library. After doing so I was able to properly rebuild and all is right with the world.

My daughter's Mac book freezes at random times. Apple's been unable to fix it. On most visits to the Apple store, it works fine. On other visits, it acts up, and they replace something like the RAM or the hard drive.  She lost a semester for university course notes, and currently can't use it at all, because Apple sent it out for 'diagnostics'.  Her college grades are suffering. How can I convince Apple to just replace it?

Apple policy in the past has been to try and repair three times.  If is not successful, then replace.  So keep accuarate records on when and what was repaired so you can make your argument that it needs to be replaced.

    Hi,
Having run SFC on a Windows 7 laptop we get the warning:
windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them
Examination of the cbs.log shows the following two files causing this:
Cannot repair member file "DHCPQEC.DLL" of Microsoft-Windows-Dhcp-Nap-Enforcement-Client
Cannot repair member file "no_rl.cur" of Microsoft-Windows-Shell-acccursor
Any idea how to fix these?
Are either of these files important or can we just ignore these errors.
    Thanks,

  • HT4307 My screen is frozen on pogo games, unable to fix it, anyone have any ideas?

My screen is frozen on pogo games, unable to fix it, anyone have any ideas?

If your screen is frozen and you can't push the home button to return to the home screen, reset the phone by pressing the home button and the sleep/wake button on top simultaneously until the grey apple appears.
If the screen only freezes while you're using the app, you should delete and redownload the app.
If that doesn't help, you would need to contact the app's developers because apple doesn't support any apps that they don't make

  • Suddenly unable to connect - WRT54G

I have a Linksys WRT54G router connected to a PC.  2nd PC connects fine via wireless adapter.  1 laptop connects fine.  Newest laptop connected fine until 4 days ago.  Now it shows the wireless network with full signal, but is unable to connect for more than 30 seconds to 3 minutes at a time with long gaps of no connectivity between. I am able to connect to other wireless networks with no lag or drop, outside my home.
I have: reset router, powered down and powered up modem & router, changed SSID from default name, turned off firewalls and antivirus (back on since nothing changed), disabled MAC and Security Mode on router, updated drivers, restored the laptop to a date before the problem occured.
Out of ideas and very hopeful that there is a fix.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First of all, set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed.  (If you have a long list, this might be the sole cause for your problem.)  Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from to WPA encryption.
If you continue to have problems, try the following:
For wireless g routers, try setting the "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Apple support is unable to fix Purchases problem on iOS for me.

    Hi,
I phoned Apple support as I am unable to view my Purchases on the App Store on any iOS device. I have a iPhone 4, iPad 2 and iPad 3.
None of these devices will display my Purchased items in the App Store. I can only view them on my PC with iTunes.
Apple said they could not help me on the phone and asked me to email support via Apple Express. I did this and was given a case number.
I received the following email today from Apple and so I am now stuck with a permanent problem that can not be fixed.
This has nothing to do with my devices. It has something to do with my Apple ID, and they can not fix it.
I wonder if I am the only person to have a broken Apple ID that can not be fixed.

  • Is Verizon unwilling or unable to fix problem with Account Owner(s)

A forum or Google search reveals several customers unhappy with how Verizon treats the account owners... count me as one.  I'm sure there are many more customers who were equally unhappy but just accept Verizon's incompetence and complete the unnecessary gymnastics of un-registering accounts and then re-registering with a new username.
    PROBLEM:
There are numerous scenarios that can cause a My Verizon account to have the Account Owner be listed with an incorrect telephone number.  In my case, I had an account with AT&T and 3 additional numbers associated.  As each account expired, I transferred the numbers to Verizon.  The first account transferred was my 14yr old son.  I registered a My Verizon account for management (my name & my userid) and eventually added the additional numbers, however, the Account Owner's phone number is listed as my son's cell.
Over the past 2 years (since I migrated to Verizon), I've had small problems with account notifications and other information being text to my son's cell.  I've called numerous times and customer service says it's corrected, but eventually the problems return.  Recently, I upgraded my phone and started using some new services like Backup Assistant and the fact that the Account Owner is associated with an incorrect number has caused even more trouble.
I simply want to keep my existing username for My Verizon and correct the cell phone number associated as the Account Owner.  This should be extremely simple.
    VERIZON'S SOLUTION:
"We can't do it".  "Our systems don't allow us to make this change".
The Customer Service Department (or Lack of Customer Service Department) tells me that since they can't or are unwilling to do the necessary changes, their only solution is to force their customer to do their work.  They will un-register the account and I can register again.  There is no concern for the preferences of an existing customer (almost 3 years); there is no concern for the inconvenience caused to an existing customer who spends hundreds of dollars each month and thousands of dollars each year (I currently have 2 separate accounts with Verizon, 4 phones on my problem account and 4 phones on another for a total of 8 phones with data plans... do the math); there is no concern that I will now have to use a completely different username one that is no longer uniform with my other accounts; there is no concern that I will have to change any and all services that reference My Verizon.  Quite simply... Verizon Wireless shows their Account Owners that they have no concern for us.
    PROPER SOLUTION:
I have almost 25 years of Information Technology experience and over 3 years working with Call Centers (similar to Verizon's Customer Service), which explains in part why I find this so frustrating...  the fix for this is SIMPLE!!!  The real problem is that Verizon simply doesn't care enough to fix it because we are existing customers and not new customers.
Without going into specifics (nor could I since I don't have access to their systems), data for the My Verizon portal is contained within modifiable databases.  These relational databases will be tied to other systems and other databases, but a modification of this type would just require that the portal be allowed to make the update to the appropriate field(s) within the appropriate database(s).  If direct access is not attainable because of their design, it is still not too difficult to write an additional process to accommodate this change.  These types of things are done everyday.
More importantly, even if Verizon was unable or unwilling to make these programming changes...  I have no doubt that if Customer Service has an escalation process to their I.T. Department that a programmer with access to the application(s) and/or database(s) could easily make the change directly and almost immediately.
    CONCLUSION:
Until now, my experience with Verizon has been mostly positive even to the point of recommending the carrier to friends and family.  I've found their coverage area to meet my needs and the data speeds to be more than satisfactory.  However, Verizon needs to remember that cellular service has essentially become a commodity and that customer retention is often based on other things than simply providing dial tone.  With a monthly cell phone expense that rivals a car payment, I would think that Verizon would be more than willing to accommodate such a simple request to maintain a satisfied customer.
If you too are one of the many customers having issue with modifying the Account Owner, just resolve yourself that it appears Verizon is unwilling to make the simple correction to the My Verizon portal to satisfy our request.

I'm not 100% sure that I follow your reasoning, so please correct me if I misstate your opinions.  I've numbered them so it will be easier to identify any mistakes I make.
    1.  Not allowing a user, customer service representative, or any Verizon representative to change the cell phone number associated with the Account Owner to another cell phone number on the same account is a security risk.
I'm not suggesting that I be allowed to change the name, social security number, or any other pertinent details related to establishing the original account.  All the information pertaining to who is responsible for the bill remains the same with the single exception that the current associated cell phone number be changed to another number already listed on the account.  In what possible manner is this a security risk?  Frankly if the ability was enabled and someone either by mistake or incompetence made such a change the impact would simply be what I'm currently experiencing (inconvenience).  Since in this hypothetical situation the ability to change this value is enabled, the "inconvenience" would easily be re-mediated by returning the value to its original state.
Furthermore, if there is some "security risk" that I'm over looking then an organization that is concerned about providing quality customer service would create procedures to accommodate customer requests and meet security requirements.  Let's use a bank (with an obvious security vulnerability) and debit cards as an example.  If I lose my debit card, I cannot go to my computer and print out a temporary debit card (very user friendly, but not secure).  Some banks will allow you to go online and cancel the lost debit card while requesting a new one to be mailed to the address you have on file (user friendly and mostly secure).  To solve this same problem at other banks might require you to go into the office and sign a form cancelling the lost debit card and confirming the address to mail you a new one (less user friendly, but highly secure).  The Verizon equivalent, is me requesting that I add an existing bank account to my online banking and being told "We can't do it".  However, because the bank cares so much about keeping me as a customer... they will delete my account, allow me to create another, possibly losing my historical data, have me change my username that I've been using for years, spend time adding all my online bill payments... all for the pleasure of staying their customer and getting to use their services as they should have been designed.
    2.  Making a software change that would allow users or CSR's to associate a different cell phone number on the account to the current Account Owner would be difficult and require downtime.
You give some time expounding this thought and I'm unaware of your web, application, and/or database experience... but I will try to address your concerns later.  However, let's assume that you are correct and these changes will be difficult ("taking weeks to months").  The purpose of my post was whether Verizon was unwilling or unable to accommodate this customer request.  You seem to be agreeing that Verizon is unwilling to make these changes, or at the very least, feel that Verizon has decided that the time and expense involved is of more importance than correcting an issue impacting their customers.  I personally find the later equally disheartening as this has been an issue for many customers (you yourself mention experiencing the problem) and has been well documented through previous forum and Internet posts.  Even by your estimations, if they had taken previous customer complaints seriously... this would have been fixed by now.  Once again it seems the obvious answer is that Verizon may not consider customer service as an important factor as I do.
As far as your technology issues, I agree that more than a web page change would be required.  I do take issue with comparing the change of a distributed application (operating system) that must be designed to support enumerable hardware components to the work required to makes changes to a web portal with a back-end in-house database.  You could write an entire book detailing the differences between these two scenarios as they have very little in common, but I'll try to keep it focused to your points.
    Coding
Coding an Operating System that must run on literally a multitude of hardware configurations and support an unending diversity of applications is an incredible endeavor and really never a finished product.  Changes to an OS are constantly being made and the developers must consider hardware and software that they are not intimately familiar and occasionally even deal with 3rd parties to facilitate changes.
The change I'm advocating has a web component which would be replicated throughout their web server topology, however, these are items that Verizon's developers deal with routinely (if not daily).  There are a very limited number of 3rd party concerns (a few different browsers, IE, Chrome, Mozilla & a disparate platforms such as PC, tablet, phone).  A little research in the benefits of web portals (and cloud computing) verses distributed applications will clearly outline the drastic differences.  A simple illustrative question (though maybe not a completely fair analogy) is how many people do you know who can code an operating system and how many people get on GoDaddy and create their own web pages.  I'm not trying to insinuate that anyone who knows a little HTML can make the web portal changes, however, this isn't a difficult project for an experienced developer.
The bigger issues and ones that I alluded to in my original post are the changes that would be required to Verizon's back-end databases.  The changes that would need to be made mostly likely involve multiple databases and assuming they are using a typical relational database design might require changes to key fields, adding new databases/tables, and exhaustive integrity checks.  This isn't something that an average user could sit down and accomplish in an hour, however, these are simply the routine day-to-day duties of any professional database developer.
Again I reiterate... this change simply involves allowing someone (either a user, CSR, or other Verizon agent) to readily change an index record or records that correlates Account Owner to cell phone number.  In terms of database management this should be simple.
    Debugging & Deployment
The debugging/testing of changes made to an Operating System are amazingly complex for all the aforementioned reasons.  The deployment of such changes is even more complex in that you've got to develop the mechanism to push these changes out to the entirety of the user community.  I'll address deployment (or as you said dispersal) of this change because it's the easiest... quite simply there isn't one.  The benefit of having a centralized web portal like My Verizon is that users come to you, not the other way around, and any change made will immediately be accessible by the user community.  There is a deployment aspect in that My Verizon doesn't exist on a single web server, but again this is just the typical topology for a portal of this size and not relevant to our discussion.  Debugging/Testing is an important aspect of any change and certainly Verizon has this methodology in place, however, I'll reiterate that this change should not be complex and shouldn't require extensive testing.  We've also already discussed the fact that any debugging/testing only has to take place on a limited number of platforms.
    Downtime
If adding the ability to change the relationship of the Account Owner to an associated cell phone number requires any downtime... the person responsible for Verizon's Development, Beta, and Production environments should be fired.  There is simply no way this is even a possible concern.  I've dealt with many companies with far less resources than Verizon and I assure you that changes of this nature would never require down time.  I'm sure they have staff in place whose sole responsibility is to work on their continuity plan.  This is a non issue.
    Other Carriers
You can't possibly know how all carriers operate, though you may have some past experience with other companies.  I would contend (and maybe I'm too optimistic) that a company with a focus on customer satisfaction when made aware of complaints and/or limitations in their service would seek to rectify the issue.  It's quite possible that whatever other company you are referencing has fixed this issue if indeed it was similar... especially since I've hopefully bolstered my opinion that the resolution is not overly complicated.
Would you mind telling me if you deleted your 2 original comments to my post before I had an opportunity to answer?  The reason I ask is that last night another user (jimfitzgerald) had posted a comment and I replied.  He later posted a 2nd comment and while writing my response... all the posts were removed (his 2 posts, my reply, and your 2 posts).  I'm curious if this was just a user withdrawal (though I really wish my response had remained in the thread), if there was some sort of technical issue with these forums last night, or if my response was deleted for cause by Verizon or other admin.   Thanks!

  • Startup Repair Offline: Unable to fix problem and beep codes

    Hi,
I have an issue with my PC startup and boot,
My PC Model: Lenovo H330, Windows 7, i5 Intel processor.
Basically on the first attempt at booting, my pc plays a beep code which sounds like = 'beep-beep' + 'beep-beep-beep' followed by a blank screen, on a second attempt the pc boots fine.
I believe this is 1 long and 3 short, the code does not seem to be in the Lenovo Bios support guide to beep codes, not only this but when I attempt Startup Repair in order to fix the problem it states it has
failed to fix the problem, details below:
Problem Event Name: Startup repair offline
    PS1: 6.1.7600.16385
    PS2: 6.1.7600.16385
    PS3: unknown
    PS4: 268
    PS5: Autofailure
    PS6: 1
    PS7 No Root Cause
    Local ID: 1033
    Further Information:
    - Information on the failure to repair states error code 0x490
    - Before the issue started, AVG Free Antivirus 2015 lost active components and I was unable to update or turn components back on; at the same time it proved to be very difficult to uninstall.
Really need help with this thanks!

    Hi Eli,
I agree with ZigZag ,you may need to resolve the beeps code first .The machine may suffer a hardware issue .
    For the error code 0x490:
Here is a link for reference of reference :
Windows 7 Startup Problem - Error code 0x490
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/299b227b-fa38-4902-b41a-d868075d763e/windows-7-startup-problem-error-code-0x490
First of all ,follow Parvesh_s`s answer ,check the BIOS settings .We may need to reset the BIOS settings to have a check.
If the issue persists ,take the KrisM771`s method to repair with an installation media.
If the auto repair will not work ,take the alebcay`s suggestion .Repair it with the command .
    Best regards

  • Unable to access WRT54G setup

I need to change some settings on my WRT54G router (I believe it's v8 and I'm using Vista). When I first set the router up I was able to access the setup (192.168.1.1) just fine. Lately, however, I have been unable to reach it. Every time I try to connect to the router's address the connection times out. I'm not sure why this is happening, as the internet connection itself is working fine. Why can't I access my router?

The 132 address is an Intenet (public) address.  I was able to ping it.  I assume that it likely belongs to your ISP.
I cannot ping the 10 address.  It apparently belongs to the wireless router that you are connecting to.  This might be your own wireless router, or perhaps your neighbor's, or a router that belongs to your school.
Since you cannot find the router's setup pages at either of these addresses, I see no way to sort this problem out without resetting the router to factory defaults, and then setting up the router again from scratch.   Since you are at college, I assume that other students have had similar setup issues.  Perhaps one of your friends could help you with this.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, go ahead and try to setup the router manually, and see if you can get your router setup and working.  You said you have a complicated setup there at college, so I doubt that the setup disk that came with the router will work (unless it worked for you the first time).
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your router's version, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • Why is oracle unable to fix the Downloads??

I have a project that I am unable to start becuase I can not get the needed software. Come on and fix this please.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
    Thank you.

  • IPhoto 9.4.2 - Unable to Fix Red-Eye

Since upgrading to iPhoto 11  v 9.4.2 with OS 10.8.3, I am unable to Auto-Fix Red-Eye in my photos.
And even the Manual fix is erratic.
This compares very unfavourably with the ease of dealing with red-eye in previous versions of iPhoto/Mountain Lion.
There are no unrecognized faces involved.
I did delete the preference file com.apple.iPhoto.plist in my Home Folder/Library/Preferences folder.
I could not find a Cache.db cache file in Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder to delete.
I have Rebuilt the library using Control-Click to open iPhoto as well as by using iPhotoLibrary Manager.
No improvement in the ability to get rid of Red-Eyes!
    Appreciate any suggestions.

Just talked to Apple Support for iPhoto
