Unable to insert Korean Language in Oracle 10g

Hi All,
Below are the current setup.
OS : Windows
Oracle Version : 10G
Database Character Set : AL32UTF8
NLS_LANG = KOREAN_KOREA.KO16MSWIN949
I can able to see Korean characters in MS Word & MS Excel. I copied some of the korean characters
and pasted in notepad and saved the file in UTF format. I tried to insert that data using sql loader.
After inserting the data, I could find only unknown characters with lots of ??? symbol. I have also
changed the data fonts to korean language in TOAD. But I can find only non-korean characters in
the table.
Please advise me, whether any other settings to be changed or provide step-by-step procedure to store
the korean data in database.
Regards,
Ramesh

  • Unable to install apex listener in oracle 10g xe

    Hi,
    i have oracle 10g xe in my window xp pro and upgraded it to application express 4 i.e apex...after that i downloaded apex lisntener1.10. and read the documentations and confused about installing and configuring it. Because i think it require jdk6 ...please help me..show me the step by step process do it...thanks

    It requires a separate application server that uses jdk16. Free servers/containers would include Tomcat 6 and Glassfish 3.
    You can continue to use the included EPG that runs your Apex currently also, without an additional server setup.

  • Problems inserting date values in Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
    I'm having SERIOUS problems trying to insert a simple date value in my oracle.
    I did this one million times before in xMII 11.5, but now it appears that doesn't work anymore!
    Here are some info:
    Data Server Config:
    Date Prefix: TO_DATE('
    Date_Sufix: ', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    Internal Date Format: yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss
    In my Query Template:
    Date and Time Format: MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss
    In my Transaction
    Parameter: datefromxmlformat(datenow, "MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
    I also tried change the parameter to datenow, no success.
    I tried to change the Query Template format, no success.
    Finally, I tried to change my Date prefix & sufix, no success too.
    I really don't know what else I can do. I would appreciate some help.
    PS: I'm using xMII 12.0.1 with ojdbc14.jar
    Thanks in advance.
    Pedro Sena

    Pedro,
    The Data Server config for InternalDateFormat should be:  MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss
    This is because it is used in conjunction with the DatePrefix and DateSuffix whenever you use the DateColumn or  the [SD] and [ED] tokens in a query template.
    If you are inserting a date field with an arbitrary parameter (not a date token like above) then you need to use the TO_DATE wrapper pieces around your date field string.
    The DateFormat in the query template controls the format of the StartDate and EndDate buttons in the applet toolbar if using an iChart/iSPCChart/iGrid and a time sensitive query, but when you build the string for an insert parameter you must manage the whole format yourself.
    If you really just want datenow and the xMII server time is sufficient for your insert query then you can leverage the Data Server config settings like: INSERT INTO TABLE VALUES([ED)
    This way the default query template time settings will use 'now' for the end date of the query and when the string is sent to Oracle it will actually look like:
    INSERT INTO TABLE VALUES(TO_DATE('10/19/2007 08:41:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'))

  • Oracle 10g unable to insert yet prompt no error

    Hi all,
    I bumped into this strange case. I have my web app connect to oracle 10g. I got all driver and JDBC setup and coded correctly. Somehow, it won't insert into table when i execute insert statement. No exceptions thrown and yet no error. I'm still finding a way to overcome this strange problem. In the mean time, appreciate if anyone out there able to help me to figure out.
    I suspect the driver class is causing problem. But to me, it's just a standard bunch of code:
    Connection con = null;
    try {
    // Load the JDBC driver
    String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
    Class.forName(driverName);
    // Create a connection to the database
    String serverName = "127.0.0.1";
    String portNumber = "1521";
    String sid = "orcl";
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + serverName + ":" + portNumber + ":" + sid;
    String username = "ivan";
    String password = "admin123";
    con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
    // Could not find the database driver
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    // Could not connect to the database
    return con;
    Thanks!
    Ivan Brogalis

    1 - The code posted, creates an SQL connection and returns it. There is no insert query ! Plz post the whole code.
    2 - Append this the catch block :
    catch (Exception e){
        e.printStackTrace();////////////////// USE THIS FOR THE OTHER CATCH BLOCKS TO HELPS U IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
    }3 - Check whether the connection created is good : make s simple select like the following : String select = "Select sysdate from dual";4 - Check whether the user(name=ivan, password=admin123) has the SELECT/UPDATE rights.

    Right... I found out how you can solve this, well not through the web interface... but oh well it is possible though...
    the error I was getting was: ORA-01704:     string literal too long.
    the keyword/phrase is "bind variables"... Did a little more searching and found this site:
    http://www.akadia.com/services/ora_bind_variables.html
    So basically you use bind variables to insert data which fills more than 4000 bytes...
    Since the data I will be inserting will be inserted via Java/.NET application I found the section called "Bind Variables in VB, Java and other applications" the most interesting... During my testing and I had neglected to use PreparedStatements in Java, and according to the site, using PreparedStatement provided an easier solution as the API does most of the work for you. My solution was to create a small program which read the large amounts of data from a file then feed this to a PreparedStatement, setObject or setASCIIStream/setCharacterStream, then execute it.
    Well I hope this helps other people who get the same error code.

  • [SOLVED] FRM-40508:ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record

    Hi all,
    I have migrated this form from 4.5 to 10g (Version 10.1.2.0.2 ). This form inserts a record into the database table when all the fields in the form are filled and a button Save is presed.
    At the time when I press the Save button, I get this error. FRM-40508:ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record
    So I went on to see the "Display Error" from help and found to be the database error, inserting into a table.
    The error message is ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected DATE got NUMBER
    The form where I press Save button has 3 date fields and I checked the properties of them and they are Date only.
    I also generated to object list report and tried to find some answer, but no use.
    Please help me in debugging this form.

    I think you need to get a description of the table and compare all the "database" columns in the form with the ones in the database table to see that the types match. Somewhere there's a mismatch. Also check the block(s) "query data source columns" and see if there's any
    columns in there that the type does not match the table. (check the sizes of things too while you're at it.)

  • Oracle forms error frm-40508: unable to insert record

    Hi Everyone,
    I have been having this problem for 2 weeks and I realize that I spent alot of time I couldn't get to fix the problem so I need your help.
    Here is my situation. First, I installed Oracle 10g in my laptop with Oracle forms10g and Oracle forms904i. I had oracle_home folder as the top level structure then I have inside oracle folder, Oracle10g in it own folder, Oracle9i release2 in it own folder. then I created the user account "student" using the system/manager account finally I granted privilleges as follow:
    GRANT ALL PRIVILLEGES
    TO student
    WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    this was working perfecty I didn't need to grant objects privilleges such as
    GRANT INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE
    ON customers
    TO student;
    Then I created a form Application prototype and it works well I could Insert, Update and Delete but now I am creating an e-commerce application prototype I created an new account using a system/manager account as I did previously and grant all privilleges. When I try to grant object privileges the message that I receive says ORA-01919 : role 'INSERT' doesn't exist
    When I run the application I am unable to insert the record through forms I get message frm-40508 Orcle error: unable to insert record.
    I deinstall the Oracle and clean my laptop and did a clean installation using only Oracle Server10g and Oracle Developer10g I am getting the same message frm-40508.
    Can someone please help me on this. the insert command that I am running is a simple one such as
    INSERT INTO customers
    VALUES( block_name.field_name, ....);
    COMMIT;

    frm 40735:When button pressed trigger raised unhanded exceptionplease help me to solve this>

    Ok, I was able to succesfully connect to the database from the client. I made the following changes to the sqlnet.ora, tnsnames and listener. Here are the changes I made:

    Here is the new problem!
    I start the dbconsole using the folowing command:

    When I try and access it from the client I get the following error message:
    "The database status is currently unavailable. It is possible that the database is in mount or nomount state. Click 'Startup' to obtain the current status and open the database. If the database cannot be opened, click 'Perform Recovery' to perform an appropriate recovery operation."
    What am I doing wrong this time?

  • Unable to access Oracle Enterprise Manager in Oracle 10g AS Machine

    Hi All,
    We are working on oracle forms 10g in 3 tier architecture. I have installed oracle 10g Infrastructure (OraHome_1) followed by oracle 10g Application server (middle-tier,OraHome_2). I have copied all the forms to OraHome_2\forms folder and compiled them successfully.
    When i tried to access enterprise manager (Infrastructure)thru http://myappserver:18100, i was unable to do so. It displayed "page cannot be displayed".
    Also
    When i tried to access enterprise manager (middle-tier)thru http://172.16.1.1:18101, i was unable to do so. It displayed "page cannot be displayed".
    I checked for port status, thru “netstat –na” command, It was displaying
    172.16.1.1 18100 TIME_WAIT
    172.16.1.1 18101 TIME_WAIT
    172.16.1.1 7777 TIME_WAIT
    Why is that i am unable to access the Enterprise Manager?

    Hi All,
    I was able to resolve the issue. Thr was a proxy server enabled in the IE in AS machine. Once i checked the option for bypassing it and turned off the windows firewall(OS was win 2003 server). I was able to view the home page at http://myappserver, then was able to access EM also.
