Unable to install oracle 10g XE in windows 7

previously i had installed oracle 10g.but it stopped working.
so I tried to resolv it by uninstalling it.
I uninstalled it from control panel.
but now i am unable to install it again
it showing an error-
The install cannot proceed as service OracleServiceXE is present on the system.
Remove the sevice,reboot the system and retry the installation.
I have tried reboot the system so many times after uninstall also.
please give me a solution for this.

Do not install Oracle Database on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 using the media for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows. Do not use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista or the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media to install on operating systems other than Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
Oracle Database is supported on Windows Vista with the 10.2.0.3 release. If you used the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista media, then Oracle recommends that you install the 10.2.0.4 patch set. You do not need to use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media.
For new installations on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media. This new software is available in the updated media pack

You didn't specify which Oracle10 Edition.
In the case of SE/SE one/EE, with a paid license Supported has a mean impact on production environments with paid licenses, since you wouldn't run on an unsupported platform facing the risk of being left without technical support from Oracle in case of an emerging issue.
For the XE Edition, this is not a certified combination, since the only certified editions are the Business, Enterprise, and the Ultimate editions, but you can try it, you don't have nothing to loose, supported, certified vs. unsupported in this case makes no difference since this XE is not supported either way (no patchsets, no bug fixes, no technical support from metalink), just an AS IS free software.
On the license agreement terms displayed when you download the XE software it states:
"No Technical Support
Our technical support organization will not provide technical support, phone support, or updates to you for the programs licensed under this agreement."
and
"THE PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE FURTHER DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS AND IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE."

For the XE users the primary source of 'kind of support' is the oracle forums, either the installation forum, the general database or the specialized XE forum.
Of course if this is for your own personal use for learning and testing and there are no third parties you could damage by doing this and if you don't have a paid license for this installation you may try it, but don't expect the Enterprise Manager to behave as defined by the manual, most of it won't work since the Home Edition doesn't have the privileges required for EM to work.
If this is your personal computer and when you bought it the computer provider installed from factory Home Edition, and if you want something to work there, you can try to install a Virtual Machine and install Oracle 10g on a supported guest OS.

I would like to know is anybody tried install oracle 10g 10.2.0.1.0 into Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003?
Will it works smoothly? any problems about it? any networks problems?
I am prepare to buy Genuine Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, so I would like to know about this matter.

While I have not installed Oracle on Windows 2003 Small Business Server, I would suggest that you not install on that particular version of Windows. While I have not worked with SBS, I believe that this is an all-in-one solution that handles Exchange email services, file services, print services, domain control (all roles), DNS, WINS, HTTP, and probably a couple other things also.
While it sounds like a great idea to add Oracle to this server, I suspect that you will encounter some of the same issues that cause problems when Oracle is installed on a Windows domain controller. On such a server, there is no concept of a local group (the ORA_DBA group that the installer tries to create). Available memory, availalble free CPU, and disk contention may also be a problem due to contention with other services running on the server.
You might take a look at the following Metalink articles:

I would suggest that you take a look at the 64 bit Standard Edition of Windows 2003 if it is compatible with your hardware, or if you are familiar with Linux, do as Aman suggested. If possible, run only Oracle on the server.
Incidentally, Windows 2003 SBS is not listed on Oracle's certify web page, even though Windows 2008 is listed.

Unable to install Oracle 11g R2 on Windows 8

Hi All,
I know this is a familiar post with quite a few users facing problems while trying to install Oracle 11g R2 on Windows 8 platform. Subsequently, there have been resolutions provided - Hyperion Error of the Day: Oracle Database 11g Installer Disappears After Prerequisite Checks.
I am facing a similar problem - the installation window disappears after I select the "Select Class Option" as desktop. I tried following the steps which have been advised, but to no success. I would like to make a point here - The Operating System that I use is - Windows 8 Single Language, which is different from Windows 8 Enterprise Edition. Plus, the java I use is:
java version "1.7.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_45-b18)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode, sharing)

Even though I installed java in c:\java, I got the same error, but calling setup.exe from command prompt and setting the jreLoc path has worked.
Eg: on command prompt, I gave below command and it worked,
D:\downloads\database>setup -jreLoc "C:\Java\jdk1.7.0_51"
D:\downloads\database -> is path setup.exe location

I already had my 10g in my windows machine but it not installed properly,so I tryied to unistall and install my oracle 10 g in my machine.
But while trying to uninstall
i not found any unistall exe so i deleted the registered key,and again try to install it,but while installing it throws the error boldplease remove the service and recoot to install bold
so i tried to find sid in cmd using set oracle_sid it shows sid not define
While tried in control panel->administrative tools-->serivces i found 3 services in ora i unable to remove so i put across all the ora services in disabled and i tried even its not working

1.) Remove the services as C:\> oradim -delete -sid <db_name>
2.) remove the directory structure
3.) In case if some folder cnaoot deleted then restart the machine and delete them or rename them and delete later on.

Perl error when installing Oracle 10g in a Window XP

After I install Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control in a Window XP SP2 environment, and appears the next message: "perl.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
And in some logs appears Errors, like in OC4J~OC4J_EM~default_island~1:

There is a specific version of Oracle 10g for Windows Vista. I even hear that Oracle 10g XE will work too; however, I have only tried oracle 10g for vista.
Both Oracle 8i and 9i are unsupported on vista.
Install Windows XP Pro on your laptop instead of Windows Vista.
Or, if you need to install 8i or 9i on Vista, may I suggest installing a virtual machine running Windows 2000 or Windows XP on top of Vista. Then in this vm, install Oracle 8i or 9i.
There is microsoft virtual pc 2007, vmware worktation 6.0, and parallels. I'm not sure if qemu or bochs will work. Note, you must have vista business premium or ultimate to be able to run a virtual machine in it according to the vista end user license.

Unable To Install Oracle On P4 having Windows XP

i m trying to install oracle 8 on p4 system with windows XP os. but every tiem i receive dthe message of "rdbms.map file not found while mapping" something like that. plz guide me how can i resolve this issue.

if u need more help regarding installation on windows 2000 i can provide complete detail. Remember P4 has one problem of java run time which can be correct by replacing the file "symcjit.dll"

Install Oracle 10g R2 on Windows 2003 server x64

Hello,
I'm trying to install 10g on 2003 server x64, but everytime the progress window appears after getting the inital Orace Installer window, it just disappears, no messages.
Anyone have any ideas? I've got 1GB memory and about 100GB on hard drive available.

Problem installing Oracle 10g Express on Windows XP

I have downloaded and installed the software and it appears to work (can use command line SQL). However I cannot get the browser interface to work - I have checked all of the settings mentioned in the installation notes. Ideas on how to debug/fix? Many thanks
