Unable to Install Panther:looking for a hero

I was having major issues regarding keychain access with my G4 a while back.
After running TECHTOOLPRO 4 on the computer and finding some bad blocks I reinstalled the OS that came with the computer. (OS 9.2 and 10.1)
Everything was going well until I started to upgrade to Panther.
After 60% installation, the process would stop. The disc seemed a little compromised so I borrowed Panther from someone else.
Now, when i try and install 10.3, the computer hangs and I get-
panic (cpu0): Unable to find driver for this platform: Power Mac 3,5"
blah blah numbers
and
some kernal panic jargon.
The OSX disc that came with the computer will not activate (the install bounces and dissapears.)
CD's will not mount as an image but will show up in iTunes.
Anyone ever experience and overcome such problems?

The error typically occurs because you are using a machine specific disk that came with a particular Mac model (has a gray label.) They cannot be used on other models. You need a retail version of Panther.
Frankly, I would not upgrade 10.1. You cannot repair permissions reliably, there are changes in the disk drivers, and it's a big leap from 10.1 to 10.3. If I were you I'd backup your personal files, boot from a retail Panther installer disc, erase the hard drive and install fresh.

I have FM8 and RoboHelp HTML 9. When I open a new project and try to import a FrameMaker document or book I get the "unable to install robohelp plugin for framemaker" error.
I tried with FrmaMaker open and closed - same thing.
With RH7 it used to work.
Any ideas?

Unsure about the plugin message, but you can import FM into RH9. The problem may be that you have a current RH9, but not a current FM10. Try downloading a trial of FM10, create a v10 copy of your book, and see if that imports.

Unable to install Client Tools for Sybase ASE 15.7 on Windows Server 2012 64-Bit

I just downloaded the client tools package from https://support.sap.com/swdc --> Installation and Upgrades --> A-Z list --> SAP ADAPTIVE SERVER ENTERPRISE --> SYBASE ASE 15.7 --> Installation --> Microsoft Windows --> 51044415.zip
I'm trying to install the client tools for a newly provisioned Windows 2012 64-Bit machine. After unzipping the folder and running autorun, the installation does not proceed. When I go to pcclient64 and run either setup.exe or setupConsole.exe, I get the error "This Application has Unexpectedly Quit, Invocation of this Java Application has caused an InvocationTargetException. This application will now exit. (LAX)". I stumbled across various posts on the forum, and it appears that the installer is not certified for Windows Server 2012. I tried using the compatibility mode for Windows 7, and it proceeds further and launches the SAP GUI; however, it closes afterwards.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

51044415 is a PC-Client 15.7 refresh.
You are using a version that was not certified with Windows 2012. Get the most current version PC-Client 15.7 SP130 or SDK 15.7 SP130 or SP132.
If your looking for PC-Client5.7 SP130 look for EBF23439
We didn't get certified with Windows 2012 until SDK 15.7 ESD#6 even with that I reported a few minor issues.
You need the following on the machine before the installation.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) (or dsedit and ocscfg will not work)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64) (or dsedit and ocscfg will not work)

I cannot install or remove old itunes, install is looking for an msi

When I try to upgrade to lates Itunes or Quicktime, I get error message saying it cannot find an msi on a network drive. Same error message if I try to uninstall the existing itunes.

Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
download iTunes again from Apple.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You should be making backups of your content regularly, either through iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a external drive.
Windows is notorious for having "other" issues that make it unstable, we as volunteers helping others can't always resolve those issues.
After doing the steps above, stand by and others may be able to assist you.

Unable to install twain driver for Epson scanner -- Leopard

I finally got the printer driver working for my Epson CX6600.
Downloaded the correct driver from the Epson website and all is fine.
But now my scanner won't work.
The CX6600 is an all-in-one.
The Twain Scanner Driver was paired up in the same download.
However, after downloading the installer file I was unable to install it.
The cursor just spins and spins -- and I then get a repeated warning window asking if I want to open this software downloaded from the Internet.
I have to do a Force Quit to get out of the installer app.
Ideas?

Unable to install Oracle Provider for OLE DB 8.1.6

I could not install Oracle Provider for OLE DB 8.1.6. The problem was when I double click on the Setup.exe to run setup, it would not execute on some computers (brand new computers) and worked fine on others. I often got an error message saying that the Java Run-time Environment was not found. Has anyone run into that problem. I greatly appreciate if you could help.

Found the post below on another thread. This would not work for us without changing the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS as well.

1. Rename the file symcjit.dll to symcjit.old
2. Change the following line in the "oraparam.ini" file to read:
JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms16m -mx32m
They said someone found it in Oracle KB article 131299.1 but I have still been unable to find the Oracle KB. Perhaps a "Knowledge Base" link should be added to the support or resources section.

Try downloading the update again. Perhaps the one you have got corrupted during the download process.
You can install updates in the Safe Mode and it should eliminate the possibility of other software interfering with the update process.
Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem.

Unable to install Eclipse Plugin for Azure

I am unable to install the Eclipse Plugin for Azure. I have Eclipse Indigo and have installed the Azure SDK 2.3. When I try to add the site http://dl.msopentech.com/eclipse in the Install New Software window I get an authentication pop-up.
When I try my Microsoft ID it fails authentication. The instructions do not mention any authentication. What should I put in here?

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

Unable to install Solution Center for HP Photosmart C4780 in win 8.1 64 bit

When i first tried to install the full software from HP, the installantion hung an i had to abort. Since then, i keep getting a runtime error:
Program: C:\Users\(my username)\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS0615\Setup.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I contacted HP support and the tech was able to help me instal basic driver for the printer, but I cannot use the full featers (scan for example).
I tried using the HP Install Wizard from the website, it recognized the printer in my network (wifi) and indicated that there was a prolem and that I needed to install the full software, it then proceeded to download the s/w but upon trying to run it, I got the same error again. Help anyone?

Hello,
Try the below steps to uninstall the existing printer entries and software.
//Note: Make sure the printer is not connected to the PC through USB.
press Win key + R to open up an RUN window.
in RUN window, type in %temp%
a Temp window would open, and you'd see a list of folder name begining with 7z...
Open the one, that has the printer name in it, and locate for the folder name UTIL > CCC ,
then locate for Uninstall L3.bat and double click on it to run it.
After the uninstallation is completed, Restart the PC.
Now run the HP Printer Install Wizard to install the printer s/w.

Unable to install Palm Access for Z22 on computer running Vista

When I try to install Palm Access for my Palm Z22 on a new computer running, I get the error message that the driver software cannot be located, even when I insert my install disk.
I get the further error message: "This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of Windows and your smartphone, which was created by Palm, Inc.." even though I don't have a smartphone.
I recall having similar trouble installing the Palm Access software on a new office computer also running Vista. Eventually I was able to make it work, but I can't recall how.
Does anyone know how to find the correct driver software?

I am Unable to install the driver for my Kodak ESP-3 on Windows 7 64 bit

I have gone to the Kodak site and dowloaded and ran the software and Windows is still unable to detect the printer. all the other Easyshare software is successfully installed. Windows is recognising it as a scanner (as it is an printer/scanner
combo 'All-in-One-printer') which works but i can not print. There is no error message other that 'Windows has not installed the drivers successfully' but is recognising the type of device as Kodak EasyShare Aio (camera).
I have Windows 7 Home Preimium 64-Bit SP1.
Please Help.

If you installed the All-in-One Printer Software, you may navigate to the following path to open printer configuration:
a. Select Start > Programs (or All Programs) > Kodak > KODAK Printer Setup Utility.
b. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.

Unable to install Microsoft drivers for keyboard

I purchased a split Microsoft keyboard last night for my Macbook Pro. (Oh how I wish Apple would release an ergonomic keyboard. I love the style of the aluminum keyboard, by my wrists can take it anymore.) I went to Microsoft.com to install the drivers and dowloaded the DMG file, however when I try to install them, I get the following error: "“Microsoft Desktop.mpkg” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers." I followed the Apple help instructions to open the file, but it still wouldn't install. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, Sig. That helped. I was able to install the software, but my MBP still isn't recognizing the keyboard or at least naming it as the Microsoft one. Oh, well. Looks like this one is being returned becaue the spacebar is too hard to strike anyway.
