Unable to load .icc profiles

Whenever I try to choose profiles to add to the softproof popup, LR crashes.

The ImagePrint profiles that I've seen don't conform to the ICC spec so are crashing LR. The crashes should get sorted, but the fix in the meantime is to run them through a Mac's ColorSync Utility repair. If you'd like to email me ( [email protected] ) the profiles, I'd be happy to do so and see if we can get them working for you.

Console Log shows "Unable to read ICC profile", iWeb and Mail crash

Hi experts
I've a problem with what appears to be my ICC profiles. Mail and iWeb will consistently crash due to this problem. As the subject above says, all Applications will regularly report the following in console.log:
cmsDataProviderGetBytes : CMCopyProfile: returned -4204
CMSValidateProfile : Unable to read ICC profile
To reproduce:
in Mail:
1) Open Mail and go to Apple Menu > Preferences > Rules
2) Create a rule with action "Set Color of background" and in the colour picker drop-down menu choose "Other" -> Crash
in iWeb:
1) Open iWeb, choose "Welcome" as a template and click "Choose" -> crash
In an attempt to solve the problem, I have tried:
1) Using ColorSync Utility to fix profiles
2) Replacing /Library/ColorSync/Profiles from the OS X DVD
3) Creating a new profile using Display Calibrator Assistant
4) Creating a new profile using a third party application, SuperCal
5) Repairing permissions/my startup disk using Disk Utility (doing this last of course)
Does anyone have some other ideas? I don't know whether this is new to 10.4.4 or not.

Have had the same problem when I tried an experiment to get iPhoto to stop adding a color profile on my existing photos without a profile.
I removed the .icc files in /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles and got similar messages in console.log as you do.
Moving the icc. files back made the problem disappear.
What files does your folder mentioned above contain?
Guess you should have the same files as I do.
My folder contains 6 icc. files, including Adobe RGB 1998 and sRGB. Removing these solves my iPhoto fuckup, but as you experience makes other apps crash (like iWeb ..)

Loading icc profiles for printing

I am very new to Macs. I have now overcome the problems with the new printer drivers and using them with Leopard. I am using an Epson R1800 printer and want to load specific paper profiles. I have downloaded several icc files and wanted to know how to install them.

Unable to Load Preflight Profiles

Hello Everyone,
I'm using InDesign CS4 6.0.4 running OS X 10.6.2. A friend supplied me with a preflight (they are also using 6.0.4 on 10.6.2) and I am unable to load it. I went to the Preflight Window and chose Define Profiles > Load Profile. I navigated to the profile, and it is greyed out. I tried changing the dropdown menu from 'All Readable Documents' to 'All Documents' and it remains greyed out. I then tried exporting one of my preflight profiles and the same thing happened with that.
I've tried trashing my preferences, and that didn't help the problem as well. I tried placing the profile into /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Scripts/Preflight and that didn't help either. Any clues as to how to get preflight profiles to be able to be loaded would be much appreciated.

I experience exactly the same problem in CS5.
It is not even possible to reimport profiles that have been exported on the same machine by InDesign itself.
Repairing file permissions, as well as assigning global rwx-rights to the profiles didn’t help. All profiles still only show up inactive and cannot even be selected.
I’d appreciate any help regarding this problem.

How do I get PSE 7 to load ICC Profiles?

I am using an Epson R1800 printer with Windows Vista 64bit. The Epson ICC profiles show up on my computer in the Color folder but PSE 7 does not pick them up and display the ICC profiles in the printer profile pop-up window. Is there a bug in the software or am I doing something wrong?

Have a Epson Stylus 2200 photo printer. Need to load icc profiles from Ilford.com for the Galeria printing papers. Need some guidance in loading these icc profiles.

Any help on this topic. Is there a default place to put icc profiles for a printer. EPSON profiles show up when I print. Just need to find out where I place the ilford profiles for this printer.

Unable to load the ICC profile

So a few weeks ago I switched from windows XP to windows vista (i think).
After that whenever I load images from my nikon d90 into pse or ps5 it's I get
an error message stating it is unable to read the icc profile. I then have to manually
pick the icc profile for each image. I then switched back to windows XP and I am
still getting the same error.
This is making me crazy. How do I fix this?!

Unable to load icm printer profiles in Lightroom 5

I am unable to access correctly loaded RGB printer profiles in Lightroom 5.
In the print module when color management profile "Other" is selected no loaded profiles appear; and Lightroom usually freezes.
Using Photoshop v6 on same computer I can access all loaded printer profiles. I have reloaded LR5.
Does anyone have a solution or work-around for this problem?

The "Include Display Profiles" checkbox is at the bottom of the list that comes up if you click "Other..." in the Lightroom Print Job panel. If this is the point where Lightroom freezes you won't get to it of course. So then the question is what prevents Lightroom from loading that list? Maybe someone else has suggestions, so hang on for a while.
Anyway, whatever the extension, the point is that the profile in question has to be the correct one for that particular printer/paper/ink combination. Apologies if this is stating the obvious, but you don't really have a choice between several, you just pick the right one. They install with the printer driver and are named for instance "Epson <model> Premium Semigloss" and so on, different profiles for different paper types.
Or you can make your own profiles. I believe the ColorMunki, for one, lets you create printer profiles as well as monitor profiles.

I find a icc profile has a "internal name" which show in the color setting menu in photoshop and a "external name" which is the file name. And the "internal name" maybe different with "external name".
How I can get the "internal name" from the icc profile? I do not find the information in the ICC Profile Format Specification.

Well, that's not much info.
Have you rebooted both the Mac and the printer after the installation? Which printer make and model? What exact version of the OS?
Are you sure they are in fact printer profiles? The printer driver expects true printer profiles specific to your combination of ink, paper and ink. Otherwise they won't show up in your list.
Where exactly did you obtain the profiles from. Do they have the proper extension?
Etc.

Open project was canceled or RoboHelp was unable to load database

I have Robohelp 2002r2 and am creating Robohelp HTML help.
The project was ok yesterday but today when I try to open it I get
the error message "Open project was canceled or RoboHelp was unable
to load database". I tried the solutions in the knowledgebase
(rb_3245) but still no luck. I can't even create a new project
either or I get the same message. Anybody know what to
do????

The message is usually easily dealt with. I haven't checked
the article as you didn't include a link but I'm guessing it
involved deleting a couple of files and then using the HHP file to
open the project.
What is more worrying is that you cannot create a new
project.
Have you tried opening one of the supplied sample files?
Are your projects stored locally and not on a network?
Have IT given you a new profile to log on with?
Has anything else changed in your environment?

Hi,
I checked an HTMLHelp project out of SourceOff Site (SOS),
then attempted to open it locally with RoboHelp 5 when I got the
error message: "Open project was cancelled or RoboHelp was unable
to load database."
I found the TechNote for this error message (rb_3245) which
said to delete the .xpj and .cpd files, then right-click the HHP
file and click Edit to open the project. This worked fine for
opening the project, however the Primary Layout Source defaulted to
WebHelp. I reset the Primary Layout Source to HTMLHelp which caused
all of the graphics in the project to not display. I fixed this
issue, compiled the Help, and all appeared to be fixed. I checked
the project back into SOS to back it up. This morning, I checked it
out of SOS and tried to open the project locally again, only to get
the same error. I closed the project, undid the check-out, and
asked another writer to check-out the project then open it locally
to see if he got the same error. He did not get the error.
I am not sure what could be wrong on my computer that is
causing this error. I had no problems opening and using this
project until yesterday and I made no file name or path changes to
the project. Any ideas on what may be wrong?

When I run the command "ldapclient init", I got the error message:

Unable to load new information from configuration file '/var/ldap/ldap_client_file' ('Unable to open filename '/var/ldap/ldap_client_file' for reading (errno=2).').

Does the profile UserProfile exist on your LDAP server?
Do the logs on your LDAP server show access problems?
Try using -v to get more verbose output

Unable to load XDB library

Hi, i have just created a new database but i keep getting the following error
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [unable to load XDB library],
initializing SGA: sga_pass1Dynamic link error: Could not load module /u03/app/or
acle/product/10.2.0.5/lib32/libxdb.so.
The module has an invalid magic number.
None of the other databases that have been running on the machine give out this error.
I am running oracle 10.2 on aix
I have read it may be something to do with it being 64 bit libraries. Even though none of the other DB's gave out any errors I have changed the setting in the user profile removing any mention of lib32 so they now read
PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
LIBPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
export LIBPATH
Ive shutdown the box, restarted the databases but the error occurs
Any ideas?

It seems you have started the database with worng LIB settings, there are some steps provided to resolve this in the document
On AIX there is special step for it and that should resolve your issue.
