Unable to open Essbase Database

Hi,
Following Essbase error is coming when data is fetching from Essbase database from a report: -
Failed to open database 'Database1' on server 'URL'
Error reported by Essbase.
Additional information:
Syntax error loading filters - operation canceled
Kindly tell what could be the reasons behind it??
Regards,
Atul K

Hi,
Followiong could be the reasons of your problem: -
1- Try to restart application and then try to start database.
2- If point 1 not work then may be application process 'ESSSVR' for that application get hangh. So stop all app/db and check if any Esssvr is running from Task Manager then kill it.
3- Restart Essbase Server and try to restart db again.
4- If problem still persists then may be your db got corrupted and please restore it from backup.
5- Also from your posted error, it is looking that Essbase internal application $DM_APP$ is either missing or corrupted so please make it in following ways:-
5.1. Shut down Essbase
5.2. Rename essbase.sec to essbasebackup.sec
5.3. Rename $DM_APP$ directory, e.g., Backup_$DM_APP$ if it exists but if it doesn't do not worry about it.
5.4. Restart Essbase. At this point, a new essbase.sec is created, along with a new $DM_APP$ directory and files associated withit.
5.5. From EAS, make sure Data Mining part is working
5.6. Shutdown Essbase
5.7. Rename essbase.sec to essbasenew.sec
5.8. Rename essbasebackup.sec to essbase.sec
5.9. Start Essbase
5.10. Check to make sure Data Mining part is working
5.11. Try renaming application or load db
5.12. Once all is working, remove essbasenew.sec.
Hope it will help pyou.

  • Unable to open the database

I am not able to open the database: Following are the facts and things I have done so far
    1)     database is in NONARCHIVE mode
    2)     database backed up by using datafiles, controlfile, logfiles etc
    3)     datafiles, controlfile and logfiles are out of sync because the time of disk back at night a cron job also update a datafile. So one particular datafile is out of sync.
    4)     When we start the database following error comes
    a.     ora-01207:file is more recent than controlfile - old controlfile Question1: Is it because i did a hot backup and whenever there is a write, the controlfile ...
    5)     when we try use ‘alter database recover we get following
    a.     ora-01157: connot identify/lock data file 21 – DBWR file
    b.     ora-01110: data file 21 ‘…../…/../o2_mf_sys_undo_zvt7qxkf_.dbf

    7)     So far I have tried

    b.     Alter database archivelog – doesn’t work
please let know if some had any solution

Do the following and you should be fine with your database.
The error indicates that oracle process cannot open more locks than allowed.
I assume you are on aix/unix environment
as oracle user run this command
    #ulimit -a
and verify the settings. You may want to set all the setting to unlimited as below.
Some commands may not work depending on your OS, dont worry.
    ulimit -t unlimited
    ulimit -f unlimited
    ulimit -d unlimited
    ulimit -s unlimited
    ulimit -m unlimited
    ulimit -c unlimited
    ulimit -n unlimited
    ulimit -v unlimited
If still not resolved, ask you system adminitrator to check security setting for oracle user under /etc/security/limits.
Change the values for oracle user to -1 which means unlimited.
logout from oracle user session and login again, check ulimit -a. Start your instance and you are good now.
I have seen this issue many times on many system.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to open windows database files hosted on Lion Server

I use Mac Mini as a server. With Snow Leopard Server I shared files hosted on Mac Mini and other PC computers on the network could use together Access and Quickbooks files. After upgrading to Lion Server no PC is able to open these database files. E.g. when opening MS Access file hosted on Lion server following error pops up: "too many users acessing the file". However, the Access database can be open from network PC when opening in exclusive (single user) mode. Normal multiuser mode brings error.
Is it possible to solve this Lion sharing issue?

Same problem. Just fired up a new Mini with Lion Server to replace an HP Home Server because we need more than 10 users in our church now. Got all the users set up with group permissions and home directories on the server. Unfortunately I expected Lion Server to work just like Snow Leopard Server and be able to serve up ODBC databases like Access and Quickbooks files.
Anyone heard if Apple has a solution to the "too many users" error message? It appears that Access in particular attempts to open the data file and create a locking file (ldb), but cannot get the file permissions it needs from Lion.
Sorry I have no solution for all yet.

  • Unable to open 2007B database in SAP Business One version 8.8

    Hi Experts,
We are in the process of upgrading one of our client from SAP Business one 2007B PL13 to SAP Business One 8.8. While trying to open  the client's live database in 8.8, system throws a message "You cannot upgrade company databases from SAP Business One client. Use the Upgrade CD or contact your IT administrator for the upgrade". Plz guide me on how can I open the DBs used in 2007B in 8.8??
    Regards,
    Madhavan

    Hi
I thiink your database is not updated ..Install client in your server and try with opening  up ..
It will probably ask you to back up the database and upgrade ...
If not ,uninstall everything thing ..instead of having new installation ,download the upgrade version and see if resolves your issue
    Hope this helps

  • Error #3125: Unable to open the database file

    Hello, my name is Alex.
Since the CC 2014 update I am having lots of problems with Muse. I get the Error #3125 quite often, and some pages won't load in Design mode. I tried to open the file from a local drive, but still doesn't work.
Could you please help out here? thanks a lot in advance.
    Alex

    Hi,
If this fix doesn't work try this...
I've been having this problem too. I was using a server-side save location for the site and resources. I moved to my HDD and this seems to have resolved the error for me.
Let me know if that resolves it.

  • Unable to open 11g R2 database now after trying an RMAN restore

Hi my database is not opening now.
What I was trying was to restore the database on my new server from latest database taken from my old live server and applying it on my new 11g DB (new server-database already created)
    old server-11.1.0.7.0-windows 2003 server 32 bit
    new server-11.2.0.3.0-windows 2008 64 bit server
The steps i have done which caused this , (After everything was working fine, i did these foll.steps and now all messed up):
The oracle database on this new server was already 11.2.3.0 -it was not upgrade, i directly installed 11.2.0.3.0 on it + applied latest patches etc.
I took RMAN backup from old server 11.1.0.7.0 oracle database.
Copied this backup to to the new server flash recovery area &every step of the restore  was working fine -
in nomount mode, restored the control file from autobackup-fine
in mount mode, catalogued the files-fine (Backup from old live, copied to new live)
I restored&Recovered the database until the latest archivelogs.
Until the above steps-all worked fine like a normal recovery steps.
Then I gave "alter database open resetlogs" in RMAN prompt, it gave out error and from that point onwards I am unable to open the database now.
Unfortunately, couldnt grab full screenshot of the error in RMAN but the error basically said that bootstrap failed and i have to open the database with the upgrade option?
Please see in alert log as well

This is why you do backups both before and after doing other things.
So one way to do something like this:
    Backup old db.
    expdp old db.
    Install new 11gR2, create database.
    Back it up.
    Turn off archivelog.
    impdp
    Turn on archivelog.
    Back it up.
The general thought here is you would start over with the first new db backup if the imp didn't work, you turn off archiving to avoid generating lots of redo that would be for a recovery you would never do.
There is more than one way to do it (TIMTOWTDI), best way depends on details, including volume of data and platform changes.  expdp/impdp has an over the network option if disk space is limited and network is fast.
I usually allow for several tries when going to a new box, since the new box will require testing anyways.

  • User unable to open Database in RSC 3.1

    Hey Everyone
I've got a user whose unable to open a database in RoboSource Control 3.1. She receives no error and RSC just sits there like DB connection was never opened. She can open other databases.
I've tried different accounts on her machine and the database won't open for them either, but her account can open the database from other machines. I've repaired and uninstalled/reinstalled RSC but to no avail. I originally thought this to be a cache problem, but since it's affecting other accounts I'm no longer sure.
Has anyone seen something like this before?
    Thanks!

I am out of the office until 27-07-2009.

  • Master unable to open database

I am trying to run a replicated Berkeley DB instance and while the environment is created successfully and the master is elected, when the master attempts to open the database it returns an ENOENT. According the the documentation (and replication guide) this type of error occurs upon open when a replica attempts to open the database when it has not been created yet. While this makes sense for the replica, it doesn't seem like the master should ever return this error, particularly since the master has the DB_CREATE flag set. It is unclear to my why it is that the master replica is unable to open the database, does anyone know why this is occurring?
    Here is the relevant code:
    try
    u_int32_t envFlags;
// First initialize the database enviroment information
envFlags = DB_CREATE | // If the environment does not exist, create it.
    DB_RECOVER | // Run normal recovery
    DB_INIT_LOCK | // Initialize locking
    DB_INIT_LOG | // Initialize logging
    DB_INIT_MPOOL | // Initialize the cache
    DB_INIT_TXN | // Initialize transactions
    DB_INIT_REP | // Initialize replication
    DB_THREAD; // free-threaded (thread-safe)
    env_->set_errfile(stderr);
//Sets verbose output to make replication easier to debug
    env_->set_verbose(DB_VERB_REPLICATION, 1);
    //Configure the local server
    env_->repmgr_set_local_site(local_.ip.c_str(), local_.port, 0);
    env_->repmgr_add_remote_site(replica.ip.c_str(), replica.port, NULL, 0);
    env_->rep_set_nsites(2);

I am running this code with verbose replication output on a local machine. I start a single client on port 9090 and add a replica on port 9091 (the replica does not start since the first client does not return). I have tried cleaning out the folder where is db is written to and it makes no difference. I have provided some /* comments */ to augment what is being output.

  • Error message: "Unable to open the physical file" when trying to attach AdventureWorks database

I have searched the internet and this forum and have not found an answer...
I am trying to install the AdventureWorks database into my single instance of MS SQL Server Express 2005.  I am logged into my machine as an administrator and logged into SQL Server 2005 express 'sa'.  I attempt to run the following script:
    exec sp_attach_db @dbname = N'AdventureWorks',
    @filename1 = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf',
    @filename2 = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_log.ldf'
The error message I get back is:
    Msg 5120, Level 16, State 101, Line 1
Unable to open the physical file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".
The folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data" and all the files in it are read-write.  I am 100.0000% certain the files "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf" and "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Log.ldf" exist!  They are the result of running the installation program AdventureWorksDB.msi, which I downloaded from: http://www.codeplex.com/MSFTDBProdSamples/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=4004.
What do I have to do to install the AdventureWorkds database????

    Hello,
To try to help you, please, could you give some more informations ?
    - the operating system (XP/Vista), the edition ( Pro/Home...) and the service pack
    - usually, the installer installs the both files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Sql Server\Samples. Is there any change in the location or have you moved the both files ?
    - could you check with the files explorer , that the 2 files are read-write and not read only( find one file, right-click on it, properties and in the 1st tabpage, you should see a checkbox read-only ( if checked , unchecke it ) ?
    - have you Sql Server Management Studio Express Edition ( at least SP1 ) ?
If no, download it and use it to attach
    in the object explorer,
click on your instance to expand it
    right click on databases
in the contextual menu, click on attach
in the new form, click on add
you arrive on a second form : find your file , click on it, and OK
it's the simplest way to attach ( the sp_-attach_db is complicated to type )
the error messages are sometimes more clear in SSMSEE than in Sqlcmd
Try also to attach ( thru SSMSEE or Sqlcmd but in using the windows authentification )
NB: i hope that you are not trying to attach AdventureWorks on a remote instance and on a remote computer ( it would explain access denied )
We are waiting for your feedback to try to help you more efficiently
    Have a nice day

    Hi Gordon
This could happen if there is any mailbox which has occupied more space than its normal quota allocated.
As suggested by geo try to clean all the DB's first
You can probably run Get-Mailboxdatabase | Clean-Mailboxdatabase which will clean all of your DB's wait for some time until it gets completed
Also try running the command with the MRS server parameter switch and specify a CAS FQDN and see the results if it gets succeded
Get-Mailbox -Database 'DBNAME'| New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase DBNAME -BatchName "BATCHNAME" -BadItemLimit 100 -AcceptLargeDataLoss -MRSserver CAS server FQDN Good Luck !!Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

  • Mac Manager: Unable to open databases

I'm running the 10.4 upgrade and Mac Manager. I'm suddenly unable to open the MM admin program and am given the following error:
Unable to open databases on "OurServer" because of an unknown error: A disk error has occurred
I've tried rebuilding the databases by following the directions in Article 88023, but that hasn't changed anything. I still can't open MM and our users are unable to login.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have 5 buildings that are still using MM. We recently upgraded the servers from 10.2.8 to 10.3.9. When I try to admin MM on the 10.3 servers from my laptop with 10.4.7 I get an error, something like, unable to access database, folder not found.
However if I run MM admin from a 10.3 workstation it works fine. have you tried to admin MM from a different workstation?
